~ Shards of Emerald ~

As tiny children often do, Junior sometimes woke up way too early in the morning before the rest of the family (/crew) was awake. The only other person up this early was Sanji, who the child ran into as soon as she ventured out on deck.

"Uncle Sanji!" the three-year-old yelled, running over to hug him.

Sanji leaned down and scooped the child up into his arms.

"Hi, sweetheart," he said, smiling. "What are you doing up this early?"

Junior shrugged and replied, "Awake."

Knowing he wasn't going to get a better answer if he continued asking things in that vein (she was only a small child after all), Sanji decided to change topics.

"Well, since you're awake, do you want to come to the kitchen with me while I make breakfast for everyone?"

"Yes!"

He didn't know what he would have done if Junior said 'no' to that, but she was very much her father's child when it came to food.

"And what should we have for breakfast?" he asked, as he carried her toward the kitchen.

"Hmm... a sea-woo?" the child put forth hopefully.

Until this point she hadn't actually thought of asking Sanji to cook one, since everyone else she had mentioned it to told her she couldn't eat one or that they didn't think it would taste good.

Thinking it might be a joke, since that was the kind of sense of humor kids tended to have, Sanji asked, "Would you really want to eat a seal, though?"

"Yes! Eat a sea-woo!"

"Here you go, your breakfast is served, little lady," Sanji said, setting a bowl down in front of the child with a flourish.

Junior bounced up and down eagerly in her seat as she reached for a spoon to dig into the Sea-Woo Stew.

The soup broth and the seasonings Sanji had used tasted just fine, but after getting a squishy lump of seal blubber in her mouth, the child dropped her spoon and pushed the bowl away, proclaiming succinctly: "Yucky."
