Be My Valentine!
Part XXIII: A Wonderland-iful Date

"Welcome back to another yearly edition for 'Be My Valentine'. I'm your host Jones," Jones greets the camera with a smile, before he started introducing most of his host-mates behind him, "And this is my best guy Carlos and his partner Evie."
"Hi." Carlos gave a wave over, while Evie cheerfully smiled at the camera.
"My annoying older sister Tracy and her camp buddy Lou Hawkhauser." Jones motioned to Tracy and Lou who were looking through some files.
"Oh so you can remember everyone else but the guy who's dating your sister?" Jay snorted, unamused by Jones's antics but he's very much used to his (eventual brother-in-law) at this point.
"Exactly. The fact that my sister is able to catch someone who likes her is by far more astounding than anything I have ever seen." Jones nodded.
"Welcome to the 2021 edition of Be My Valentine, I can't believe it's been 5 years since we started hosting this." Evie pointed out.
"Yeah, time passes so fast." Tracy nodded, reminiscing the fond memories.
"Or the author was just plain unproductive with chapter updates." Jay muttered.
"Hey, I'd like to see you try to write stories while juggling with jobs as a fresh graduate." The author threw a paper ball at Jay from a distance.
"Alright let's all start our new season with the first couple of the year." Lou tried to distract everyone.
"Roll the clips!" Jones declared as Evie started to play the video on the screen.
~Be My Valentine!~
~ Couple: Logan Krane (son of Happy Dwarf) x Shelby White (Daughter of the While Queen from Alice in Wonderland) ~
Logan Krane had noticed that his classmate (and secret crush) Shelby White (daughter of the White Queen from Wonderland) had been pretty gloomy lately.
It wasn't that hard to read her emotions since Shelby was pretty much like an open book. And Logan is the type of person who doesn't easily understand when he reads.
The week before Valentines' Day, Logan decided to ask Shelby what was wrong.
"Hi Shelby, what's the matter? You seem sad." Logan approached his classmate, concerned.
"Oh, hi Logan. It's nothing. I have just been feeling…a little homesick that's all." Shelby replied with a sad smile, she was scrolling through old photos on her phone about her home country, Wonderland.
Being some of the few students from Wonderland and are attending boarding school in Auradon Prep, it makes sense for some of them to feel easily homesick when their families live far away.
Of course there is also Gus Hatter who lives in Auradon (with his big family of many siblings) after his dad shifted the family business (a Wonderland-themed tea shop) here to make a profitable business.
"What was it like for your home?" Logan asked, genuinely curious.
"Well it can be quite strange sometimes, but it's home." Shelby gave a weak smile.
"Tell me more about it, I'm sure it must be loads of fun spending the holidays in your home country," Logan sat up straight, attentive.
"Alright if you insist, but I must warn you some of our customs and lifestyle can be weird." Shelby voiced out her concerns about if Wonderland customs would change Logan's opinion about her.
"You're from Wonderland, nothing is ever that weird as it is pretty." Logan shrugged it off, not really bothered. I mean he was roommates with Gus Hatter and Leo Dooley-Davenport one year in summer camp, so the weirdness just rubbed off him.
-Pause Screen-
Wow, what a smooth talker. Carlos smirked, pausing the screen.
"Yeah Logan surprisingly has a smoother way at talking to his crush that Jay with my sister," Jones nodded.
"I heard that." Jay snarled over, before Lou hit play to resume the video clip
-Resume-
Shelby started to blush at Logan's compliment, feeling butterflies in her stomach.
"Well if you insist." Shelby nodded, before she told Logan stories about her and her brothers growing up in Wonderland. The festivities they had, the unusual family traditions, even her mother's outlandish yet delicious homemade cooking she missed.
Some time later, Shelby was finished telling Logan about her home country.
"That was really cool though, I think your home sounds like a fun place to visit." Logan smiled.
"So are we still on for our arts and craft project tomorrow?" Logan cleared his throat, switching the subject.
"I thought we finished the project two days ago." Shelby frowned.
"But I just remembered we forgot some finishing touches. You know how Mr Ambrose can be so fussy about the details." Logan added.
"Oh sure." Shelby nodded, before realizing that both Logan and her were going to spend nearly half the day together on Valentine's Day. Doing touch-ups on their arts and crafts project.
"Great, it's a date!" Logan declared with a bright smile, before he got flustered, "I mean homework date. Right…"
"Sure, see you tomorrow, Logan" Shelby tried to play it off cool and not come off as desperate. She has had a crush on Logan for a couple of months now, but as far as she knows they were just platonic classmates and friends.
-Pause Screen-
"Lies!" Lou called out.
Everyone at school knows that Shelby White and Logan Krane have mutual crushes on each other ever since they got paired up to sit with each other at a bus trip to the museum.
"Shh don't interrupt the story." Evie whispered over to her friend.
"Sorry, E." Lou muttered out an apology.
"Back to the video." Jay resumed the video.
-Resume-
Later at Logan's room…
"Ok so you're just gonna spend time with your pretty classmate on Valentines' Day. Doing arts and crafts." Logan was pacing in his room, talking to his roommates.
"What a shady excuse to say you're on a date, dude." His roommates, Leo Dooley and his twin brother Hilo snickered.
"I think it's sweet though, you clearly like her. Tell her how you feel, or give her something sweet as a gesture to show her how much you care." Hilo grinned.
"Hilo, have you been watching K-dramas with mom again?" Leo asked his brother.
"Yup, it was by accident, but you have to give props to all the good story drama," Hilo raised his hand defensively.
"I just don't like seeing Shelby sad, that's all. When she's unhappy, so am I." Logan spoke out, before he got an idea.
"What's with that smile?" Hilo noticed the bright grin on Logan's face.
"I think I have an idea of how to cure Shelby's homesickness." Logan declared, before he left their room to do something.
"Where did he learn the words 'cure' and 'homesickness'?" Hilo asked.
"That would be me, I have been making him memorize 3 new words from the dictionary each day." Leo raised a hand.
"He totally has a crush on Shelby." Hilo grinned.
"Yup, I'm so proud of our roommate, he's finally growing up." Leo joked as his twin brother nodded.
The Next Day…
After Cyd had mentioned to Shelby about her wanting to spend the day with Jones pranking other people, I guess it meant Shelby would spend her Valentines' Day alone then. Not really, I mean she will be spending time with Logan but she wasn't sure if there was any romantic indication.
"Is this a date? Is this not a date? What should I even wear?" Shelby started to confide in her roommates Cyd and Princess Daisy.
"Don't try to overdress yourself, you might come off as desperate." Cyd suggested.
"But you should still make the occasion as romantic as possible. Who knows? You might finally get a date." Daisy chimed in.
"Yeah, remember your last boyfriend?" Cyd reminded as Shelby groaned at the memory of Drake Gardener.
Drake was someone Cyd had previously been attracted to while Shelby had a crush on another guy named Joaquin, but later the girls found out they are attracted to the other boy instead. Long story short, Drake and Shelby broke up when the romantic feelings were no longer there. (and also part of the reason was that Drake accidentally shot Naldo and Barry at a paintball game)
"But it's been 3 years since you actually dated anyone, maybe it's time for you to move on from the heartbreak and find someone who is right for you." Daisy gave her commentary about the situation. While she didn't attend Auradon Prep back when Shelby dated Drake, but she knows about enough of Shelby's previous relationships.
"Alright, I guess you're right. So now time for wardrobe talk." Shelby nodded, before she stood up and started going through her clothes.
-Pause Screen-
"And we have NO interest and investment for that, so skip forward." Jones declared, pressing Skip on the remote control.
Part of the reason is because he would rather keep personal information (such as clothes sizes) of his peers as private as possible.
-Resume-
Despite what Shelby was expecting, Logan had texted her to meet her at the Arts and Crafts workshop. She was rather hoping for Logan to come and walk with her to the workshop together, guess she's just caught up in the moment of Valentines' Day.
I mean, she was dressed up in one of her prettiest and favourite dresses too. Guess it might not be the best idea when she and Logan would be busy on their arts and crafts project.
When Shelby got to the Arts and Crafts workshop, it was quite dark inside. I guess Logan's not there yet, but the door doesn't seem to be locked.
"Ping!"
'Come inside, I'm in the Arts & Crafts room.' – Logan Krane
"Alright." Shelby muttered to herself, as she opened the door.
To her surprise, the Arts and Crafts workshop was decorated to be a little Wonderland-like tea party. With paper flowers that resembled the talking flowers from back in Wonderland, the painted roses, and the Mad Hatter's tea party.
And Logan, was dressed up very smartly for the occasion, he looked like he was a dashing nobleman Wonderland.
"Wow, what is all this?" Shelby gasped happily, watching the Arts and Crafts workshop being colourfully decorated to resemble her home.
"Welcome to Wonderland, well sort of Wonderland." Logan bowed as he kissed Shelby's hand. "Princess Shelby."
"Welcome to our Mad Hatter Tea Party, Shelby." Marcy, their classmate, waved from one of the tables.
"This is amazing! Did you do all this?" Shelby asked Logan, as he guided her to a seat.
"Nah, I had a little help." Logan motioned to some of familiar faces.
While it was all under short notice, but Gus Hatter agreed to host a Wonderland themed tea party at his family's tea shop. I mean he was planning a Valentines' Day themed Wonderland tea party, so he is always glad to see a familiar Wonderlandian in his tea party.
"Wait, so you were technically using the arts and crafts project as a lie to hang out with me?" Shelby mused at the handsome half-Dwarf.
"Yeah, you have been quite upset lately, I don't really like seeing you sad all the time. And I thought this was a good way to cheer you up." Logan answered with a shy smile.
The Mad Hatter's Valentines' Day Tea Party included some Wonderland folks like the Hatter family (Gus, Farkle, Dez, their cousin Paisley), Ava Kingsley and her boyfriend Auggie Florian, and a few of their friends.
To Shelby's surprise, Logan even invited her estranged cousin Maya Hearts (daughter of Queen of Hearts) who attended with her boyfriend Kaz.
"So shall we begin the tea party then?" Gus Hatter asked.
"Sure thing." Logan nodded, before whispering over to Shelby, "How does a Wonderland tea party go?"
"I can give you a basic explanation!" before Shelby could offer a hand, Ava Kingsley (daughter of Alice Kingsley) interrupted and started giving an etiquette lesson to Logan about Wonderland table manners.
The tea party turned out to be a lot of fun in a Wonderland-ish way. Gus tried to juggle while riding a unicycle, his older brother Dez filmed all the amusing details on his camera. Shelby even taught Logan how to dance the Flutterwackin, which he got a hold of the merengue eventually.
Halfway through, the tea party was interrupted when Cyd and Jones (who took some time off from hosting the Be My Valentines segment) along with their kiddie prank pals raced across the outside halls on the golf carts.
Later that day,
"Hey Logan, thanks for today, it was very thoughtful of you." Shelby smiled at her classmate.
"Sure, it is the least I could do." Logan nodded, hiding his blushing face, "Plus, I always thought your smiles were really pretty like sunflowers."
"Um listen Logan, I really like you, and more than as a friend. And I have always thought you were really cute and caring and nice. So I would like to ask if you would be my boyfriend?" Shelby began to confess her feelings to her crush, the timing seemed just right.
"Wow I am surprised. Because I want to be your boyfriend too." Logan chuckled weakly, as he handed Shelby a white rose.
Shelby smiled as she leaned forward and kissed Logan's cheek.
~Clips Ended~
"Aww that was so sweet!" Lou grinned at the happy couple.
"Another happy pairing matched by Cupid." Evie nodded in agreement.
"I still don't get how Jones found time to get out of work to go hang with Cyd!" Carlos frowned.
"He got Chloe to clone him so he can two-time on us. That's what." Tracy motioned to a young girl waving behind the cameras. Chloe Yamamoto has the power to clone herself and anything she touches, and since Jones is her godfather he gets extra permission for her to help him out.
"Ah, that explains why Jones was fast enough to finish his filming project." Jay blinked.
"So, who is gonna be the next happy couple in our list?" Tracy asked.
"Alright, time to read off the card. Drumrolls please." Carlos spoke out as Lou gave a drumroll.
'Jordan Hook and Rory Andrews'
"Huh, what a surprise. I thought Jordan had a thing for Kaz." Jay asked out loud, remembering the young pirate having feelings for Kaz while he is dating her friend Maya.
"I mean Maya's dated a lot of guys in the past, even Aiden Tremaine (from Stuck in the Middle) from back at the Isle." Jones shrugged, being aware of his friend's previous dating lives.
"Anyways, that would be all for today. See you in the next segment." Evie waved at the camera.
"I should clone myself more, I get more work done on time." Jones declared with a smirk.
Well that is all for this Valentines' Day segment. I have shipped Logan with Shelby since my friend paired the two in her fanfic [Check out "Sky High" by TKDP] and they're both such joyful angels who deserve love and happiness.
Chapter Talk: -
1.) Logan Krane is from Lab Rats who was portrayed by Emery Kelly (he also played as Cameron, a boy Shelby had a crush on in Best Friends Whenever episode 1), and in my crossover version of Disney Descendants, he is the son of Happy the Dwarf from "Snow White and the 7 Dwarves". Similar to Logan being Leo's friend on Lab Rats Bionic Island, in Descendants-verse he is roommates and friends with Leo and Hilo (from Pair of Kings, in my other fic "Leo's Twin Brother" I made both of them twin siblings)
2.) Shelby and Maya are cousins by law (with White Queen from Alice in Wonderland Live Action being Shelby's mom while Queen of Hearts is Maya's mom), Shelby would fit in easily as a Wonderland citizen along with their Wonderland peers (Gus Hatter and his family). Daisy and Cyd are also supportive friends who encourage Shelby in taking a chance at asking Logan out.
3) Some of the events of the chapter correlate to events from Part II (Maya and Kaz's date segment) and Part XI (Jones and Cyd's hangout bromance segment) in which while Shelby and Logan were having the tea party, Jones and Cyd were messing with other couples with their kid friends.
4) There is a brief nod to Maya dated Aiden which is a reference to their actors who are in a relationship in real life. And also, Jones asks Chloe to clone and cover for him while he goes on pranking spree with his best friend Cyd.
5) In the next chapter, we will be looking at Jordan and Rory's relationship. Rory appears in some of my Elite Force fanfictions as one of Rodissiuss's children and has feelings for Jordan.
