Harry had thought, when he walked into that forest last year, that he would be facing the hardest thing that could ever happen in his life. Little did he know that facing death would be a cake walk compared to what he was going through right now both mentally and physically.
Harry reached up and brushed away the sweat that was causing the fringe of his hair to plaster to his forehead. His whole body was on high alert, demanding that he react and let his instincts take over, but he was refusing.
Careful breaths in and out of his mouth, never losing count otherwise he was afraid he would breathe in through his nose and lose what little composure he had left. He knew exactly what he would smell if he slipped up. Golden ripe peaches, wishing to be picked and only by him.
The healers that had come by to check on Draco's condition had explained to him how dangerous this was. That if he couldn't keep control he would hurt Draco. That in Draco's sleep like state, his body wouldn't be able to respond to Harrys correctly and he would damage him. There had even been accounts of Alphas accidentally killing their mates in this state of mind. They had encouraged Harry to take the next few days alone. That Draco was stable and would be okay until he came back.
Harry couldn't do it. Since the movement two days ago, Draco had been making progress slowly. He had yet to wake, but his body responded to touches, especially Harrys. He was terrified if he left the mans side, that he would return back to his vegetative state. Draco's magic was feeding off Harrys to heal.
So now, as his rut took control, he sat beside Draco trying his best to remain of sane mind. It was hard... pun intended. Even like this Harry couldn't ignore how handsome his mate was. Long beautiful pale limbs that he knew looked stunning wrapped around his own tanned body. Pink pouty lips that were covering perfect pearly white teeth. Flawless long blonde hair that Harry knew was just as soft as it looked.
Harry felt his jeans tighten painfully as he let his thoughts wander a bit too far. He had to draw his attention back to a safer area or he would lose control. Harry let out a shaky breath willing his erection to wilt.
How was it that after everything he had been through in short but eventful life, that the universe thought this was just what he deserved. To be locked in a room with the one person he couldn't have at the moment.
Harry puffed out a large breath in frustration, his brow furrowing in concentration as he could feel Draco's magic tangling with his own, an odd pulse in his finger tips. Draco may not move or talk, so the others didn't quite understand, but Harry could tell just how Draco was feeling from his magic. The man was gaining strength like crazy.
"I miss you Draco. God, you would be busting my bollocks if you could see me right now. I'm a right mess for you." Harry reached out letting his hand caress Draco's soft skin on his cheek, pleased to find it cooling the heat that radiated from his own palm. "I'm almost positive you would have some snarky response for me having the nerve to be complaining. I miss that. Hearing your voice." Harry let his hand travel, letting his thumb trace the sharp angle of his jaw, down his chin and over his adams apple.
Harry swallowed thickly, his mouth running dry as he thought about the sounds that Draco made when he kissed and sucked right there on his throat. How Draco's eyes would flutter closed, his hands would grip anywhere he could on Harry hard as the sweet sounds of his moans would roll off his lips.
Harry bit his lip to keep from letting out his own moan remembering the last time they had been intimate together. Copper filled his mouth, his tongue touching the spot he had bit too hard. Torture. This was pure torture. He couldn't be weak. He had to push through it.
The Gryffindor jumped in surprise as he felt his mates magic tug at his own core, pushing him closer. Draco was responding to him touching him. His magic was... caressing him back. Letting him know he was there. Harry let out a laugh.
"You are laying here in front of me, almost have died because of me and you are trying to offer me comfort? Who's the Hufflepuff now Malfoy?" Harry bent down, whispering in his ear. "I love you, even if you are a prat." He kissed the man's temple, careful to hold his breath.
Sitting back a bit, Harry composed himself. He could hear his pulse in his ears thrumming away. Hermione had explained to Harry just before he had locked himself way with Draco how rare it was for Harry to be able to sense Draco's magic like he was. She had mentioned something about true soul mates and the odds. Harry didn't care. He didn't care what the odds were.
Soul mates. The things fairytales were made of. Finding your one and only who was destined to be only yours. Apparently in the wizarding world it was a rare phenomenon and the documents on it were a bit vague.
Light and Dark. Good and bad. Love and hate. Built completely opposite of the other just so they could fit like a puzzle piece and could complete the other. The Slytherin was Harrys mirror opposite in almost every aspect from looks to personality.
"You do complete me." Harry said out loud his chest growing tight. "My whole life has always been a complete and utter shit show. I've lost so many of the people who I loved and mattered to me, but I brushed myself off and kept going. You... I can't do that with you. You are my reason. My purpose. I can't imagine picking up the pieces of you aren't there beside me to tell me I'm doing it wrong." He smiled lightly. "When you wake up from this mess, I am never letting you out of my sight again."
--
Harry startled awake, not realizing he had dozed off. It was a bad idea to let his guard down. As soon as he realized his mistake it was too late. He had taken a deep breath in through his nose and instantly his pupils dilated.
Draco's scent washed over him, swallowing him whole. His fingers dug into the arms of the chair as he tried to regain composure. Fog was taking control quickly. Harrys chest moved with each shaky breath, the smell of peaches was over powering him. It had been too long since he was able to find release with his mate.
"Harry?" The soft, raspy voice called through the fog.
Harrys eyes darted and found his mates face, and saw storm eyes watching him wearily. "Dra- Draco?" He asked unsure. He was afraid that if he took his eyes off the other man's they would surely close and never reopen.
Draco took a few moments flexing his fingers and took a deep breath in. "How... how did I get here?" Draco tried to move his head and look around. He was back in the private heat room he usually used. He closed his eyes trying to remember what happened before he had fallen asleep. Had he been in heat before he fell asleep? Yes. He had come down alone. Harry had refused to join him. "Why do I hurt so bad?"
Before Draco could look back at Harry he felt warm hands grab his face and chapped lips push hard against his own. The kiss was desperate and needy. Draco's senses were flooded with Harrys dominant earthy scent that made him swoon almost instantly. Draco let Harry consume his mouth, his tongue teased out by Harrys easily.
"Draco, fuck, you are awake. I can't believe it. They said... they said I should have let you go... but I knew you were strong enough." Harry cupped the man's chin. "You're magical core collapsed in a sense. The stress on your body and magic without me during your heat... I'm so sorry Draco. I was poisoned. I love you. I would have never hurt you on purpose." Fire was spreading through Harrys body, every nerve ending on edge being able to touch his mate finally.
Draco's brows furrowed as he thought back, everything a bit foggy. Harry had been strange, he remembered that much. He hadn't been himself. "You're okay now though?" He asked as he felt Harry slide into the bed next to him.
"Better than okay now that you are awake." Harry couldn't stop himself from letting his hands wander up Draco's body, appreciating the soft skin beneath his fingers. He was disappointed in the clothing separating their bodies, he wanted Draco's skin against his.
Draco shivered, eyes fluttering closed at Harrys soothing touch. Harrys scent was starting to over power him and make his head feel like it was full of cotton. He couldn't quite think straight. "Mmm you smell so good." Draco's stiff body shifted enough to lay on his side drawing Harry close. "I missed you."
"Draco I have to leave you here... staying with you when you were sleeping was hard but now... I won't be able to control myself for long. Your scent is driving me wild." Harry groaned softly as he felt Draco's hands find their way under his shirt.
"Leave? Why would you leave me? Don't you want me?" Draco asked confused. He buried his face into Harrys neck taking him in, letting his mind be taken over by his need for Harry completely forgetting the fact that he had almost died and been laying in a bed for however long.
"want you? Are you crazy Draco? That's the problem. I want you so bad. I'm losing myself. I won't be able to control it. I'm going to take what my body wants and needs if I stay. I can't risk hurting you further." Harry felt Draco suck at the sensitive spot on his neck.
"You won't hurt me. I'm yours Harry. Take what you need." Draco practically purred and Harry felt his strength to leave the bed disappearing quickly. He let out a loud moan when he felt Draco's hand disappear beneath into his joggers. This was wrong. Draco had just woke up. He was taking advantage of him. He had to get out of here.
Before he could make himself let go, he felt the pulse and content hum of Draco's magic as Draco took his fill of touching Harrys body. Draco's magic was still feeding off his own. It was buzzing happily at the two of them connecting again. "Draco, do you know what you are saying? What you are asking for?"
Draco ran a hand up Harrys thigh, heat radiating from his finger tips. "I'm asking for my mate to stay with me. Whatever happens while we are together... well it was just meant to be don't you think?"
Harry let out a groan when Draco's hand wrapped around his erection. They had so much to talk about. About Justin, his father, what damage had been done to Draco and about them being soul mates. But for right now, his only care was reconnecting with his mate and letting him know just how much he loved him.
