Chapter 6:
Arthur Weasley arrived home later than normal. Once he and James Potter had destroyed the marriage contract the man had to go and try to calm his temper. Thankfully Gringotts gave him an outlet and most of the fury left his system. He still had enough to ensure that his wife would know that she was in serious trouble.
Walking inside his family home he noted that the two youngest were in the orchard playing, while the twins were over by his shed tinkering with something that will no doubt explode or something. They did take after Molly's twin brothers.
He must have made some noise because his wife stepped out of the kitchen to see who it was.
"Arthur! You're home early."
"Molly sit down."
"In a minute. I'll get a tea together and then we'll talk."
"No Molly. NOW!"
The woman turned to face a rather irate husband. It had been a long time since she had seen that look on his face and never had it been directed at her. She decided to oblige and sat down at the large table in her usual spot. Arthur sat in his spot at the head of the table, directly across from her. He slammed his left hand down, activating the charms on their wedding rings. Suddenly she was more than a little afraid.
"You will answer every question honestly. Do you understand?"
She nodded.
"I need a VERBLE response!"
"I…I…..I understand."
"Good."
He remained silent for a couple of minutes as she started to squirm.
"I want to know what was in your ever MERLIN MIND IN SIGNING THAT CONTRACT WITH THAT OLD MAN FOR OUR DAUGHTER!?"
Molly visibly relaxed. So that's what this was about. No harm done then.
"The Headmaster came to me offer the Potter boy as a suitable husband for Ginny. As she is a fullblood we would control all of the Potter wealth, raising our standing in society. I felt that there was no harm in it."
"NO HARM!"
"No. The Headmaster was awarded custody of the boy. Given that he is currently in the Muggle world he will need help and guidance for someone. As his future family that falls to us."
Arthur just stared at Molly like he didn't even know who she was. Time to nip this in the bud now.
"I am going to say a few things. You will not speak until I say so or ask you a direst question. Do you understand?"
"Yes."
"I'm home early due to a request from Gringotts. During an audit they found that contract and wanted to ask me some questions. Questions that I COULDN"T ANSWER as I had NO IDEA to what they were referring to."
Molly's eyes widened.
"Since you haven't learned yet, James Potter, Harry Potter's father is alive. Alive and healthy. Where he has been is not the question. He was the one who asked for the audit. He was the one who called for me. He is the one who wants to know how the spouse of the Head of the family can sigh a contract and get away with it. I would like to know that myself."
"I told you that the Headmaster brought it to me. She's my daughter too!"
"That contract put that boy basically as a stud for our daughter while you and that old man controlled every part of their lives!"
"The boy is the son of a pureblood and a muggleborn. Ginny has a higher station than him. Of course, we get control!"
Anger fill Arthur's face. "That 'boy' is His Grace. His father is His Grace Duke of Wales, Duke of Gryffindor, Viscount Potter, Regent Black of Blackmore, and Regent to Baron Slytherin! He ISN'T a nobody."
Molly's whole body went pale.
"His Grace and I destroyed that contract. Thankfully, he will not press charges but if you ever pull something like this again on any of our children, grandchildren, even great grandchildren, I will personally hand you over to the Aurors. Do you understand?"
"Y…Y…Ye…Yes I….I….I understand."
"As of right now I am placing you under House Rules."
He didn't think that Molly could get any paler but she did."
"You will now answer only when asked a direct question. If the children ask something you may answer within reason. All punishments will dealt with by me. Aunt Muriel will be taking over their education until they go to Hogwarts. You will move into the guest room as I doubt I can stand to be in the same room as you let alone the same bed."
Molly ley out a whimper.
"Also you will cease all potion making. I know about the little Love potion that you slipped me during our school days. But that's a different situation. But I don't trust you to try it on some unsuspecting person just so you can be 'happy'. Now do you have anything to say?"
"Please! Please don't do this! I did nothing wrong!"
Arthur stood up so fast the chair tipped over. Within a second his had his hands grabbed her arms, lifting her from her seat.
"NOTHING WRONG! WOMAN EVERY LITTLE THING YOU'VE DONE WITH THAT CRACKPOT WAS WRONG! IF YOU CAN'T SEE IT THEN THERE'S NO HOPE FOR OUR MARRIAGE TO CONTINUE! MOLLY CATHERINE PREWITT I HEREBY DECLARE YOU UNFIT TO BE THE SPOUSE OF THE HEAD OF THE WEASLEY FAMILY!"
Molly was shaking her head, not believing that the man she had picked, married, and had several children with would simply cast her out over a misunderstanding. As Arthur let her go she sank to the ground. Both wedding rings broke and crumbled into dust.
