Hello, of course being left on such a cliff hanger over Christmas gave me an over active imagination. So here it is: starts where season 16 episode 5 left off after the explosion. Are JJ and Luke ok? Man I can't wait to find out!
The black and white static played endlessly across the monitor in front of them. Both of the body cams side by side showing them same empty images. It was the same little pixels that would have everyone else changing channel or looking for a solution; but there was nothing to be done. Nothing they did from their end would fix what they couldn't see.
Their eyes were transfixed, each one of them staring into the endless static, praying that the screen would come to life again and show them their friends alive and well. As the minute pass slowly the screen stayed the same, and it was dawning on them that one of them was going to have to move. Emily was always the one that took control in difficult situations. Not only was it her job, but the dynamic between the group.
They all expected Emily to move, or at least give an order; but she was frozen. Even when enough time passed for the others in the room to turn to look at her waiting and expected, she couldn't tear her eyes off the screen. Inside she was screaming, panicking that she'd just lost her best friend. She'd just given the orders that had gotten them both killed.
One minute earlier
Elias skulked in his hiding spot, sliding out slowly to watch the two FBI agents approaching his trap. Raising his binoculars he looked through the refracted glass, their faces coming into view. A smirk fell over his features when he recognised the two faces stalking towards the shipping container completely unaware they were the ones actually being stalked.
These were the two agents who had foiled the park bomb. He hadn't quite let himself hope that these would be the two that turned up on his doorstep again, but it filled him with a rush of excitement as he watched the blond pull open the door. They had ten seconds. His excitement was building as they stepped inside. They'd found his bomb. Echoey shouts of bomb and run reached him, but he knew it was too late for them.
He stepped out of his hiding place and darted forwards towards them, Benjamin was hot on his heels. His hand went to his pocket, satisfaction as it connected with the plastic cylinders lying in wait. The stun grenade went off as they approached the container. The groaning coming from within set his heart racing as he rounded the door to find the two agents semi conscious on the floor.
His hand dove into his pocket as he approached the first one, the blond. She'd rolled over and was trying to get her bearings. She was more beautiful up close, he thought to himself, as he brought the needle up and plunged it into the bare skin on her neck. He watched the fear flicker over her features for a second as she realised what had happened. Then it drained from her as the drug took effect and all that was left was an unmoving body.
'JJ,' Elias turned to face the male. He was more with it than the blond had been. He was trying to move towards them. Trying in vain to get to his colleague. Elias could only smile his hand already wrapped around the second syringe.
Luke was aware that JJ had lost consciousness almost immediately; and that the man hoovering menacingly over her had now turned his attention to him. He'd started army crawling towards JJ to protect her, the only thing his body would allow, now he was closer to the man smiling evilly at him holding a second syringe. Shit, his eyes darted from the syringe, to unmoving JJ, to the expression on the mans face. He'd never seen anyone look as evil at that man did right then.
'This is either going in you or her; and she won't survive another dose,' his voice was too normal for the maddened expression in his eyes. What could he do? It wasn't a choice really. He could barely drag himself across the floor, he couldn't fight his way out, not for himself, or for JJ. He just hoped that his body cam was catching this. He angled his body giving their team the best view of this creep that he could. They would be watching and it wouldn't be long before they were here, on the ground in Georgia, upending every rock until they were found.
Alvez rested all his hopes on that, having no idea that this was part of a plan. And Elias was nothing if not a master planner. The first of three waves of his bomb was the electric pulse. It had knocked out all electrical devices for one hundred meters, the reason why they had left their phones and the car out of range.
The second wave had also already been activated, and was used to stun the agents. Now they just had to get out before he activated wave three.
'Get the car,' Elias ordered Benjamin, without turning to look at him. Luke hadn't noticed the second male, hanging back in the doorway. The sunlight behind him left him in shadow, but Luke recognised the shadowed figure as Benjamin, the biter, that had just given them this location. It had all been a trap, but to what point. Why hadn't they just set a real bomb and killed them?
He didn't fight as Elias took the couple of steps between them. He kept his eyes on Benjamin, not wanting to give this syringe holding man the satisfaction of looking at him as the needle broke his skin. He didn't flinch or move, just sat still and let these men abduct them. It felt so unnatural not to fight. But he held it all in, the drugs were in his system now, and as his world started to fade he could finally fight a little. Not that he could stop the drugs, but he couldn't just go to sleep without a fight. He'd at least stopped JJ getting two doses, whatever happened now it gave their team some time to find them. As his head fell to the floor, he had just one more moment of consciousness to see Elias bending down over JJ. Then it all went black.
