Chapter 6: Don't Want to Feel Another Touch
Summary: Olivia and Rafael dive headfirst into a relationship.
Notes: Sorry for the short chapter. This story should be wrapped up in another chapter or two.
Guest, thank you again for the lovely feedback. I am so glad you enjoy my work!
It was magical. There was no other word for it, he decided. Waking up with Olivia wrapped around him, her face nuzzled against his neck, after a night filled with passion was magical. Rafael stopped hoping that would ever happen long ago and now here they were, tangled up in each other with no desire to see it ever end. Part of him feared it was all a dream and he would wake up to heartbreak if he so much as breathed too hard.
Olivia stirred in his arms, her lips brushing along the skin of his neck as she awoke. A smile was already gracing her lips when she lifted her head. "Good morning."
"Good morning," he replied, placing a kiss on her forehead. "How did you sleep?"
Snuggling into him further, Olivia breathed a contented sigh. "That was the best night's sleep I've had in a long time."
Rafael chuckled. "Well, we did exhaust ourselves." The memory of their rounds of lovemaking the night before was still fresh, and he felt himself harden at the images flashing through his mind. They were naked, and Olivia flashed him a knowing look at the press of him against her thigh. He shifted, pulling her on top of him and sliding into her in one fluid motion. "I don't think I'll ever get enough of you."
"We have so much time to make up for," Olivia murmured against his lips as her hips rocked against him. Their movements were slower than the night before yet no less effective at drawing the pleasure from each other's bodies. They were quiet as their pleasure overcame them, still mindful of the thin canvas walls of the yurt.
"Do you have any idea how much I love you, Olivia?" Rafael asked once he regained his breath and composure. He knew she could read his feelings in his eyes, but he wanted to blurt the words out constantly now that he could.
Her smile was bright and wondrous, her own love reflecting in those dark brown eyes. They breathed each other in before falling into a light nap.
Hours later, they were showered and fed, relaxing on the deck. The peaceful sounds of the resort were pleasant, and the company was exceptional, but Olivia was starting to get a little homesick. Her injured ankle prevented her from enjoying much of the activities the resort offered, which took some of the fun out of the experience.
"Would you mind if we went down to the lodge? I'd like to see if they'll let me call Noah," Olivia said during a particular long moment of silence between them.
"Of course, Liv," Rafael responded immediately, rising from his seat, and offering a hand to help her to her feet. He handed Olivia her crutches and led the way down the steps to the golf cart.
It took little convincing for the resort staff to let Olivia call home to her young son. Rafael sat at her side as she checked in with Amanda before speaking to her son. Noah regaled her with tales of his adventures from the past four days. He asked what fun things they were doing, but Olivia let him know it was just boring adult stuff. Upon hearing that his Uncle Rafa was there with her, Noah exclaimed happily and asked to speak to the man. Her eyes glistened with the hint of happy tears as she watched Rafael's face light up hearing Noah's voice. The call lasted over half an hour before they hung up with promises to see him soon.
Instead of heading back to the yurt, they decided to settle at a table in the dining area of the lodge and enjoy an early dinner. Once their drinks were served, Olivia toyed with the stem of her wine glass, considering what she was about to say. Looking up, she met Rafael's curious gaze and flashed him a closed lip smile.
"Would it be incredibly rude if we cut this trip off early and headed back to New York? We could spend the next few days at your place before returning to reality."
Rafael's eyebrows rose along with the corners of his mouth until he was smiling widely. "That might be the best idea I've ever heard. Who gives a fuck if it's rude." They laughed, delirious with feelings for each other and excited at the prospect of spending time together tucked up in his apartment away from others.
"I'll see if Jamie at the front desk can help us change our flights to tomorrow. Maybe we can even fly home on the same plane?" Olivia signaled to their server and asked if they could have Jamie stop by their table when she had a moment.
"Where are you living now, anyway?" she asked while they waited for their meals, realizing that she had no idea. He could still have the same condo for all she knew.
"Same building as before, just a different unit. I opted for more space this time and bought a unit with three bedrooms."
"Oh?"
"Yes. Just, um, something to keep in mind in the future. You know, in case this goes somewhere." He winked teasingly.
"It's definitely going somewhere, Rafa. I can't wait to spend some time in my future home, then." The thought of them living together caused overwhelming happiness to bubble up within her. His green eyes sparkled at her, and Olivia knew he was feeling much the same way.
They had finished their meals by the time Jamie came by their table and she led them to a small room containing a desk, computer, and printer permitted for guest use. Rafael was able to cancel his flight and rebook on the same airline as Olivia for a return flight the following morning. Afterwards, they changed the car service reservations. Once everything was in order, they headed back to their yurt.
It was still early, the sun nearly setting, and they sat on the deck with a bottle of wine as they watched the sun dip below the horizon. The evening was cool but not cold, the wine causing a wash of warmth to spread through them both.
"I need you to know, Olivia, that I am all in with this, with us," he waved his hand between them. "When you are ready, you and Noah can move into my place, and I am going to ask you to marry me at some point. I'll even adopt Noah, if you'll let me. We can move as fast or slow as you want, but I needed you to know how invested I am."
Maybe it was the wine or maybe it was the ever-deepening love she had for the man before her, but his conviction brought tears to her eyes. She sniffled before finding her voice. "I want all of that, too."
"You know, it is strange to think that less than a week ago I thought you hated me and here we are now talking about building a life together." He smiled, amazed how quickly things change.
"For the record, I never hated you, Rafael. I was just irrationally upset." She rolled her eyes at his doubtful expression. "We really do owe our dear friends for this intervention. I doubt even they expected it to work out quite this well."
"I can't wait to see the looks on their faces when I kiss you in front of them." They laughed picturing the sight before moving into the yurt to pack up their belongings. They had an early morning and a long day of travel ahead of them.
