Chapter 11: A Stars Challenge, and a Hunt

I'm in A bind here aren't I? I probably can't take another hit without failing one of my optional objectives. I could honestly live with that, but I want to at least try and complete it.
Though that's much easier said than done I'd have to not get hit again, and I'm getting more and more tired the more I use my semblance. It seems like I'll just have to give it the good old college try.(kinda)
I push myself forward to try and take advantage of his recovery time from his swing. He moves up his trident to block so I blink above him.

I land a solid blow to his shoulder, and I blink away as he swings where I would've been if I hadn't moved. Honestly I'd of lost this fight by now if not for my semblance. I thank whatever being out there that picked it out for me.
My old man turns and looks at me. "I believe I've seen enough to trust you going out on hunts with me, but I want you to do something first." He says looking me in the eyes.
I look at him confused why he's just suddenly letting me basically get a free pass. "Um ok what's up?" I stay tensed up because he still hasn't lowered his weapon.
"With out using your semblance dodge this." He says while Getting into a practiced stance.
"Can we just fight inst-" I get cut off AGAIN as he launches forward absurdly fast. I can hear the wind whistling off his weapon as he gets closer.
I do the only thing I can do without using my semblance or exposing my Artifact. I start pouring my aura into my iron saber, and get ready to block.
Like hell I could actually block an attack of his especially one with this kinda force behind it. I tilt my weapon to try and deviate the attacks corse just a bit. If I can move it just a bit I'll be able to dodge, but I'll definitely be losing some hairs.
I start leaning back as fast as I can, and I can barely see his weapon as I see sparks. I hear a thunderous Crack as his weapon hits mine.
I fall on my back with my eyes wide open, and my body violently shaking. My saber was blown apart completely unsalvageable apart from the handle and parts of the guard. I managed to deviate his attack enough to dodge it, but it was still terrifying.
Pops crouches down, and puts a hand on my head. "Great job I knew you could do it Iris."
I look at him still slightly dazed. "And what would of happened had that hit me?" A slight agitation to my voice.
He gave a wary grin. "Then your mother would of probably tried to kill me, and you'd be out cold." I see a sweat drop down his head.
I take my hand and bonk him on the head. "You also need to stop cutting me off like that." I pout at him "You also owe me something sweet for that."
He sighs and helps me up. "Fine fine I'll get you come chocolate. I'll also get your mother to make your mechashift weapon early."
I look at him with excitement after he says that. "Really? How soon can I get it? Can I help make it?" I put a little skip in my step.
"Hahaha yes really Iris. Probably in a few months, and you'd need to speak with your mother about that." He ruffles my now messy hair. "Now go take a shower, and rest for tomorrow we go on your first hunt.
I nod at this and run inside.
Next day
I'm in my huntress outfit ready for my hunt, and with a new steel saber at my hip my mum gave me. Sense my old one broke, and because I might run into Grimm she thought it would be better to upgrade.
She also gave me a pistol with some dust rounds for a ranged opinion. My mum also started work on helping me design my mechashift weapon.
"Here you go, and be sure to stay near you father while you're out there sweetie." My mum says while handing me a pack with my lunch in it, and a kiss to my head.
"Alright mum I'll be careful, and I'll do my best." I hug her back, and then walk over to pops. "I'm ready to go pops!" I exclaim.
He pats my head and huffs. "Calm down Iris remember to keep your guard up." He turns and beings to walk into the woods.
I began to follow him with a pout on my face. "It's my first hunt so I'm excited ok. Geez." I keep and eye on our surroundings.
This is my first time heading out this deep into the woods. The snows a lot more difficult to maneuver through, and I can see less from how compact together the trees are.
I also try my best to keep me eyes peeled for what ever this "???" might be. I stiffen a bit when I hear l howl a short distance away.
Pops stops and pulls out his weapon. "Iris be ready for a fight that sounded like a Beowolve, and where there's one there's always more."
I Unsheathe my saber and stay close to him. We keep moving heading towards a clearing where the first set of traps are. When we go there I see a dead boar in one trap and a few dead rabbits.
My pops doesn't move near them yet, and looks around concerned. "Keep your guard up Iris. The woods only get this quite when Grimm are around."
I strain my ears and listen he was correct I couldn't even hear animals scurrying about. "What's the plain?" I ask as I move to be back to back with him.
"If they push us I'll get the bigger ones you move around and pick off the weaker ones. Once their numbers are thinned use your pistol to cover me." He takes a guarded stance, and tightens his grip on his trident.
We stand there for a few minutes on guard waiting. I finally start to hear bushes move, and twigs snap. I look around, and bounding out of the tree line. Around us about seventeen Beowolves and a massive Alpha jump out.
"Shit that's an Alpha Beowolve Iris be extra careful they'll be far more coordinated." Pops looks more apprehensive now.
The Beowolves start surrounding us as I tighten my grip on my weapon. This'll be a far harder fight then just a couple Beowolves. With an Alpha commanding them they're far more terrifying.
As they begin closing in I get ready to jump into the fight. "NOW IRIS!" Pops shouts as he pushes forward towards the Alpha. I immediately blink above two B.wolves and aim for their necks.

I don't even see their HP because they start turning into dust as I skid to a stop behind where they were.
I see a B.wolves jump at my pops from behind and shoot at it.
Beowolve
-200 HP
HP- 1,800/2,000
I hum at this no wonder it usually takes a whole clip to take one down. Four of the B.wolves start moving in on me so I rush the closest one, and slice at it's throat.

I see it start turning to dust as I jump to the side to dodge a swipe from another one. I blink behind a different one a plunge my blade into the back of its skull.

I use that one as a spring bored to jump over, and unload most of my clip into the fourth one.

It started to turn to dust I check my clip, and I got five shots left. I shoot the rest of them into some of the random B.wolves surrounding my pops.
I managed to get three of them to focus on me. I roll to the side to dodge the last B.wolves from the original four. I kick it into the three approaching ones, and reload my pistol.
I can see my pops still holding his own against the remaining two B.wolves and the Alpha. Looks like he's already killed six.
I push myself forward and thrust through the underside of the thrown B.wolve, and into the eye of the one behind it.

They both start fizzing into dust as I back up from an attack from the other two. They start charging me so I wait tell the last second. Then when they jump at me I blink under them. With them above me I swing, and cut them both in half.

I sigh and look over at my pops. There's only one B.wolve left and the Alpha. I move forward and start taking shots at the remaining B.wolve.
Beowolve

HP- 600/4,500
I click my tongue as I missed some shots, but the B.wolve started running towards me. It was much faster than the small fry I've dealt with tell now. I was ready and pushed forward. I dashed to the side at the last moment,and raked my blade across its side.

I see it fall to the ground and start fizzling into dust. I reload my pistol and march forward to assist my pops. I see him slam it into the ground and fire of a few shells into it, but it backs up and growls noticing it's all alone now.
It looks to me and I gulp as it leaps towards me. I blink to the side but it gives chase then my pops starts firing at it. I blink next to my pops and start firing too.
Beowolve Alpha

HP- 900/28,500
Holy crap that's a lot more HP than the others. I decide to finish this and blink above the Alpha, and aim at its throat like I had with the others. "Eep!" I was surprised when it reacted fast enough, and grabbed my leg and threw me through a few trees.
Iris Asteria

AL- 19,400/26,000
"Ouch... Well that hurt." I get up and I see the trees I was put through fall. I began moving towards the clearing. In my rush though I missed the mask in the snow at my feet.
When I get back to the clearing pops had finished the Alpha. He looked at me in worry. "You didn't break anything right?"
I giggle at that. "You hit me harder yesterday I think I'll live, and yes I didn't break anything." I sigh and look around.
"I'd say I didn't do half bad. I didn't get hit tell that Alpha got me." I say with a bit of pride.
He looks at me unexpressive. "You shouldn't of gotten hit period, but yes other than that last slip up you did fine." He looks at the traps.
"We should get our prey, and check the rest so we can get out of here. An Alpha getting this close to town is a problem. I'll need to start upping security." He looked wary and on edge.
