Chapter 12: A Stars Weapon, and Weaving

After we got back to town we sold some of the prey we caught in the traps. My pops told me to head home as he went to do his job as captain of the town guard.

When I made it home I put my pack on the floor, and went to clean up. After a nice hot shower I went to my room and laid down.

It apparently takes a lot to upgrade my semblance which is a pain in the butt. I'm also frustrated I didn't find whatever the ??? might of been.

I don't know what I missed out on it might of been super nice reward, but you can't always have everything. I take the dust crystal that appeared in my hand, and hid it away for a later date.

I go over to my desk and look over a blueprint for my mechashift weapon. It's not very "Shifty" as my mum put it but I like it. It's a saber with the flat side of the blade being a barrel, and my hand guard being a lever.

I was going to originally make it be a revolver for range, but I decided on a lever action rifle. It might be lower caliber, but I get extra range as an option as well as a faster reload.

There's a thicker part where the loading mechanism is that I can hold onto for more stability. I can also press a button that'll release a small scope for me, and tilt my hilt for a better grip for shooting.

The trigger for the firing mechanism is always out so I can fire whenever. It's a nice design with a pretty floral pattern going up the blade. I can also put a custom dust crystal in the hilt to use additional one time effects. Like swing out a wave of fire or ice.

According to mum it'll take six months to get it made, because she order some high quality metals for it.

I take the blueprints and bring them to my mum who just got back home from her job at the forge. "Hay mum! I just finished my final look over on my weapon blueprint." I place them on the table for her to look through later.

She looks at them and smiles a bit. "That's great! I'll give them one more over look before I take them to the forge. How was your first hunt." She says while heading to her room.

"It was fine. We ran into a group of Beowolves with an Alpha though." I say nonchalantly.

She stops in her tracks and whirls around to face me. "This close to town! I guess that's why the town guards are all on edge. Onyx probably won't be home tell late getting the defensiveness up to snuff." She sighs

"I'll get started on dinner mum you go take a shower. Also after dinner can we hang?" I say while moving into the kitchen grabbing an apron.

She looks back at me with delight. "Thank you, and yes that would be lovely sweetie."

Three months later...

It's been three months sense pops has allowed me to go on hunts with him. I gotta say I've improved a good bit, and I've worked hard on my sewing/weaving.

I feel quite happy with my progress now that I can fight Beowolves, and other non Alpha Grimm. Though Sabyrs are a pain they're fast, and can coordinate without an Alpha.

Now that I feel proficient in it I'm going to try and weave dust into my huntress outfit. It's gonna be tiring, and take the whole day but it'll be worth it. I'm going to start with the bottom and work my way up.

First my boots I decided to be simple with this, and only weave some wind dust into them. From some test I did with some cheap old shoes I bought it's really the only safe option.

With wind dust in my boots if I activate it with my aura it'll basically give me an air dash of sorts. Having an aerial movement option is great for me to dodge attacks, or help teammates.

After an agonizing forty minutes of concentration, and aura/dust manipulation it's finally complete. I tried to set it up so I could have two air dashes, but it was far too difficult so after a while I just settled for one.

Next were my leggings this was also simple. I just weaved in ice dust so I can keep myself nice and cool. I am after all very used to the snow.

Next up was my skirt and shorts. This was a bit trickier I wanted to use some hard light dust and wind dust. Hard light to increase my defense, and wind to give me a softer landing when (not if) I fall from really high up. Another hour and ten minutes later I manage to complete them.

I decided to take a break and head downstairs to make a snack, and spend time with my mum.

Two hours later...

After watching some tv, and having some girl talk with my mum. I go back upstairs to my room to continue my work.

I grab my shirt and vest next. I'm putting hard light and ice dust into them for protection, and to keep cool. After another hour and forty minutes they're done.

Next up are my gloves. I use hard light, and gravity dust for them. They take about thirty minutes to finish up. The reason I'm using gravity dust is because with it I can pull a Thor, and pull my weapon back to me if it gets knocked away or I throw it. I can also pack a mean punch if needed.

As people say best for last, and that applies here because up next is my cloak. I go and grab my high grade hard light dust crystal from my hiding spot. This is the big one because if I can get this to work I can basically have a shield an extra shield.

I just realized I'd have three shields if this worked. One from a Skill, Artifact, and from my own ingenuity. So if I'm ever in a spot when I need to guard three people I got them covered.

All that though is if I can pull this off. I began by crushing and grinding the crystal into dust (pun not intended). After I do that I begin to use my aura to weave the dust into my cloak. It's a lot harder than all of my other clothes so far because of two factors.

One my cloak is make of denser material so it's harder to weave in general, and two high grade dust is much more difficult to manipulate than mid or low grade dust.

As I weave the dust in I can see it's turning some of the black into a grayish/white. Taking advantage of this I make a design on my cloak. I make my own emblem of a four pointed star with a ring around it. The ring has four points going in between where the stars pointing.

After two whole hours of work I finally finish with my weaving. All in all I believe I've done a great job. I'll probably crash for the rest of the day but it's worth it!

Thanks for reading as always have a great day/night, and stay happy!
