Chapter 1: Gohan Son
Six Years Later, 4 am, C and K Butcher Shop
An alarm sounds off, to which the hand of a young, spiky-haired man presses the button to turn it off. The young man takes the covers off of the bed and stretches out to get ready for the day, well before the sun comes up. Stretching his body to make sure he was limber for the day ahead. A light is turned on as the boy grabbed a blue gi with a red sash. In what seemed no time at all he changed from his boxers and tank top to his outfit as he did a few more stretches and limbering exercises. The young man left his bedroom and went through the kitchen as he smiled at an older woman one would guess correctly as his mother. The boy simply smiled at the woman, who just yawned as she sauntered into the kitchen, while the boy went outside and down a fire escape to the lower recesses of the building.
Inside the basement looked sparsely furnished at first glance. The teen went over to a door with a digital code lock. The boy punched in the code "1980" and the lock disengaged. When the boy flipped on the switch, the light revealed a huge central computer that extended to the basement roof. The oddly cylindrical device had two small screens, one displayed various numbers like pressure, temperature, weight, WAG (Weight According to Gravity). The smaller screen beside it displayed the amount of Gs the room was pulling. A few keystrokes later, the room activated and the number went up to 300 Gs. The boy went into fighting stance as he went into his exercises.
Hello everyone, My names Son Gohan. I'm fifteen years old, will turn sixteen on May 18th. My hobbies are studying and Martial Arts. I will be in Juban High School starting tomorrow, Apri1 7th. Yes I am in a gravity room, like a certain husband of an old family friend. You wonder why my mom, my little brother and I are living above a Butcher Shop. You see, my mom sold the house we lived in because it reminded her too much of Dad, and became curious as to what life is like in a more Urban Area so to speak. She went into a partnership with Krillen and 18. It's safe to say the shop is doing quite well as sometimes I help, though Mom doesn't ask that often since she wants me to study so much.
Gohan shadow punched and shadow kicked through the Gs pulling on his body. The boy, after about twenty or so minutes of kicking and punching, went down onto his fists and began doing push-ups. The boy pushed against the ground, miraculous that the floor wasn't breaking under the immense gravity.
You wonder how I got this sweet gravity room to train in. You see, we moved here, along with Krillen, 18, and their little girl Marron. They live in the other apartment just beside us. Anyway, we moved in proper about six months ago and was able to open the shop properly about two weeks after we moved. Bulma heard about the move and stayed in Tokyo for about a month. Her and a couple of scientists were down there for what seemed like forever and then I got the surprise of my life when I saw what she did. My mom freaked out, saying that I trained way too much. I don't understand, I get mostly perfect scores on my official Home School Tests and many tutors say that I'm well past the normal curriculum of most schools. Heaven forbid a threat comes up and I'm weak from just studying all the time.
I digress, I'm lucky to have a mother that worries about me like that. I guess she lost my father to battle and doesn't want to lose me in the same way. I tell her that's the reason I balance training and studying like I do. I want to do both my parents proud. Who says one can't be a chemist for HETAP while also being a superhuman fighter. I wanted to be a scholar at first, but I also wanted to be able to pay the bills, so to speak, when I got out of University. I figure being a chemist allows me to be smart like my mother wants and still bring in money.
Gohan looked up and several cylindrical devices with buttons lifted off of the ground. Flying in all different directions, the robots tried to confuse the young man. The boy lifted himself off of the ground as they buzzed and shot lasers at him. Gohan flew all over the place, appearing to disappear and reappear as he pressed the buttons on the moving robots. The last button was pressed and the devices dropped onto the ground.
After another session with the robots, a holographic clock appeared in front of Gohan with the time of 6:15 and the word "Alarm" just above the display. Gohan took a deep breath before telling the unit to shut down. The boy placed his devices into their little cubby holes and exited out of the room. Gohan went back out, up the fire escape. He went into the little kitchen and gave a quick hello to his mother, who was making a good sized breakfast for her family. No sooner did he do that, then he saw a little kid with hair shaped like a palm tree and the biggest smile on his face.
"Hey big brother!" chirped the little boy in his blue pajamas," are we gonna play today?"
"Well, I guess we could later this afternoon," Gohan replied, "or do you want your flying lesson, Goten."
At the mention of that particular activity Goten beamed at his brother. His happiness was threatened to be dashed however when their mother decided to interject her view. The woman looked at her boys with some of her trademark stern demeanor as she felt that she had to show that she ran the household. A fact neither of the boys ever forgot, which means she does her job well in her opinion.
"You can go on your lesson on one condition," Chi-chi said to her youngest son.
"Yes Mom?" Goten asked.
"You have to be good for Miss Ami today, understand!" Chi-chi stressed. At the mention of Miss Ami, Goten's face returned to the happy little lad. Goten nodded with energy and gave many a vocal indications that he understood what his mother wanted.
"As for you Gohan," Chi-chi said as she turned her attention to her oldest.
"Go and get cleaned up, got it," Gohan replied.
"Well yes, but also," Chi-chi said before taking a minute to let Gohan digest what she was going to say. She sometimes liked to have her sons slightly confused as she felt this is how she stayed ahead of them and kept them in line. The woman then went into a bit of a smile.
"I'm glad you are going to school tomorrow. Make your last day count Gohan, because after that I will make sure that you are making near perfect to perfect marks," Chi-chi said.
"Yes Mother," Gohan nodded.
"Now go get cleaned up," Chi-chi ordered before Gohan went into the bathroom and shower. After all, he doesn't want to be stinky around the dinner table for his mother, for that would be truly offensive.
Chi-chi placed a nice spread around the table this time. Rice and pickled vegetables were staples in their household, as is some salmon that the two boys caught that she had the wisdom to vacuum seal. The boys put their share into their bowls and started eating in earnest, while the mother took her portion. The food disappeared seemingly in mere minutes as the boys ate their fill. Saiyans, whether hybrid or full blooded do come with their appetites after all. The family cleaned the table and the boys volunteered to clean the dishes so that their mother can get an early start down at the shop.
'Thank you sons, I know I raised you right,' Chi-chi thought as she went down the steps, ready to join her two business partners for the days shoppers.
Gohan and Goten finished their cleanup, making sure that the dishes and the table were spotless. The chairs were pushed in and Gohan inspected to make sure everything was tidy. Goten looked over at his brother as he knew what time of day it was. It was study time for his big brother.
"Goten, when does Miss Ami arrive for you?" Gohan asked.
"She'll be here at 8 am...that's," Goten replied as he tried to remember how to tell time.
"In about an hour and 15 minutes then. You sure you can wait that long?" Gohan said.
"Yeah, I've had to do it every time she comes. You should join us today. Me and her have baked cookies, she has me draw pictures. She even makes sure I color within the lines. I can actually color stuff Gohan!"Goten went on and on about the many activities her and the babysitter would do so that they wouldn't be bored.
"You know today is Sunday, Goten. Mom sometimes let's me have those days off of studying and I usually don't do any schoolwork on that day anyway. I'll probably just do a little to brush up on my subjects and I might just join you later ok. I'm not promising anything," Gohan said to his little brother.
"I see. Well I hope you can do that. Miss Ami is a lot of fun," Goten said. Gohan nodded to his brother before going into the boys' bedroom and starting his 'brushing up.'
The boy opened a book on literature, reading up on the works of Japanese poets of the Edo period. As he read that book however and came across a love poem by some samurai, Gohan couldn't help but think about something else entirely.
I've been having strange dreams ever since we've moved to this shop. I haven't told anyone about these dreams, not even my mother. I seem to be at this palace and right in front of me is a woman. This woman had on a white dress, blond hair in what looks like a couple of buns and a crescent moon on her forehead. Am I supposed to find this girl to protect her? Was I a paramour of her's in a past or future life? Hell if I know. Maybe it's just some silly fantasy that my subconscious is pulling out just to mess with me. Anyway, I hear her mutter out the words help me, and then all of the sudden everything goes haywire as energy from the sky blows the palace to ruin. I think I need to concentrate on my studies and forego such crazy, nightmarish fantasy.
Gohan stopped thinking about that dream and flipped the pages on his literature textbook. After that he went on to a few practice calculus problems. The boy finished those in about 30 minutes or so, then went on into his physics book. The boy studied the various theories these scientists came up with on matter and anti-matter. After solving a few equations relating to the subject, he closed the book. Before he could open another one however, a knock was heard on his bedroom door. Gohan walked up to the door and what he saw was not his little brother. It was a young female, who might've been a year or two younger than him, with blue hair worn neck length. Gohan smiled at the young lady, who might have a small blush on her cheeks.
"Mr. Gohan, would you please help me?" the blue haired woman asked.
"Goten's not being a troublemaker is he?" Gohan replied, knowing that the energetic child could be a handful at times.
"Oh no Mr. Gohan, I just need a judge on Goten's cookies. I can't believe that at six years old and he learns so quickly," the woman remarked.
"Only because he has such a good babysitter," Gohan replied, which made the woman smile,"by the way, you don't need to call me Mr. Gohan."
"I will on one condition. You refrain from calling me Miss Ami. Deal," Ami replied. Gohan nodded and stuck his hand out. Ami smiled and shook his hand before the two of them made their way to the kitchen. Gohan sometimes would help Ami out on a few occasions. The little activities they would have Goten do sometimes killed the monotony that tends to exist with Gohan's peaceful life after Cell.
Gohan sat down with little cards that Ami placed on his part of the table. Ami then places a small plate with a few cookies, which looked like chocolate chip, in front of him. The other two placed their share of the cookies down onto the table, along with some wrapped for Chi-chi later, as Goten looked at Gohan with hope.
"Here to judge your wonderful chocolate chip cookies is the impartial, wise and well mannered man. Gohan Son!" Ami said like she was an announcer of sorts. Goten clapped happily at her whole presentation.
"Well then, my lovely announcer. I shall taste these cookies!" Gohan replied with equal campiness before taking a bite. The boy shut his eyes as he let the cookie and the chocolate swirl around his mouth. To his surprise, the cookie actually tasted quite good. The boy swallowed before Ami decided to give Gohan a glass of milk. Gohan drank his sip of milk and grabbed a card. Then he grinned and switched to another card instead.
"A perfect 10!" Gohan said, while basically overacting playfully. Goten clapped and leapt into the air, causing the two teens to laugh a little. The group then dug into their cookies, only having 3 per person. Ami and Goten then started cleaning up, making sure that everything was clean. Gohan helped after about two seconds and after a brief amount of time everything was back clean as it should be. Ami then got an idea.
"How about we go to the park today. Why not go outside and get some fresh air?" Ami suggested.
"I don't know, mom might not approve," Gohan replied.
"Mom might not approve of what, Gohan" a voice came from behind him. The boy turned around and it was Chi-chi with a smirk. Gohan blanched, thinking that something really bad might happen.
"Well Ms. Son, I was wondering if we could go out to the park to get some fresh air? It's the last day before we all go back to school and I just think that a nice stroll would do us some good," Ami pointed out to the woman. Chi-chi hesitated for a moment before giving a simple nod.
"Thanks mom," Gohan told her as he was relieved nothing crazy happened. The teens and the little kid left the apartment into the shop, where they got a quick hello from Krillen and 18 doing many things along with a couple of other employees as they left.
Chi-chi grabbed a few things out of the fridge and saw the cookies that Goten made. The woman tried the cookie and was surprised at how good the cookie tasted. The woman however made her sandwich out of bread and various meats and veggies before chowing down on her lunch break.
'You know, that girl has made Goten into an angel. I just wish her and Gohan would hit it off. Her mother told me that she was a genius and I want some genius grandbabies. I guess I'll just have to be patient,' Chi-chi thought before taking the first bite.
The afternoon sun was shining in Juban park as the trio walked. Many children were playing and some looked like they had a picnic, with some families clicking their capsules and their table and various spreads come out very neatly. Goten looked at the sign and read out every capsule that wasn't aloud.
"Housing Capsule, Any capsule with weapons, Vehicle Capsules, XXX Capsules….hey Gohan what's a XXX Capsule," Goten read out and asked the last part, which caused both teens to blush.
"You'll understand when you are older," Gohan blurted out, hoping to avoid the subject.
"Why do you always say that on certain things?" Goten whined.
"Goten...its just that..." Gohan stammered before Ami stepped in.
"Goten, please stop pestering your brother on answers he's not allowed to say. I'm sure your mother has a very good reason for him not to give you the answer you want," Ami stated, which had Goten freak out slightly. Him and Gohan know what an angry Chi-chi was like and he wanted no part of that.
"Well I don't want to make mom mad. I do that enough when I play with Trunks," Goten pointed out.
"It seems like your friend Trunks always has you in trouble," Ami pointed out.
"You have no idea, Ami," Gohan groaned at the many times the twosome would pull pranks or do something disruptive.
"Then tell me," Ami told Gohan, as if she challenged him. Gohan laughed and told Ami about some of the trouble they caused together. Various misdeeds from showing girls tarantulas, releasing birds in Gohan's room while he was studying, putting frogs in Yamcha's car when he would show up with a woman at the shop, and various other annoying, yet ultimately harmless pranks.
"The one with the frogs actually made his mom laugh before she punished him," Goten pointed out after Gohan finished.
"It seems like you two have fun together," Ami replied to the whole story.
"Yeah, sometimes I go to his house and play with his toys and video games. I don't have a game system since mom thinks it's a waste of time," Goten added. The group chatted as they walked through the park and found an empty spot. The three went to that spot and Ami pulled a capsule from her purse, pressing the button and her own little picnic, complete with table and around six sandwiches popped out with green tea drinks. The trio then sat down on the benches as the three of them munched on their sandwiches. The boys ate slowly as they did not want to scare Ami with their eating habits, at least not yet. Those events tend to be saved for when there is a much larger spread of food.
Over on the other side was a couple. A slim brunette, giggling at what a man with a scar on his face was currently saying. The twosome walked by the trio, when the man looked up, much to Gohan's chagrin. Gohan didn't fear this man in the slightest, but sometimes he did cause Gohan a certain degree of annoyance. The man hollered out to Gohan, which Gohan decided to holler back, causing the couple to walk into their picnic area.
"Hey Yamcha, what brings you here?" Gohan asked the man.
"Hey Yamcha!" Goten blurted out with enthusiasm. Ami however started processing this whole interaction. She had heard the boys talk about this 'Yamcha' and how he was a home run hitting machine. She didn't really follow the man's career per say, but she thought that any other man would be gawking at him to say the least. Yamcha looked over at Ami's direction then back at Gohan and started smiling.
"So Gohan, you going to introduce me to your girlfriend," Yamcha pointed out, to which Gohan froze. Ami's face went positively pink and red from the sudden blushing.
"Yamcha, she's just a friend. She's babysitting Goten," Gohan protested, which caused the blushing Ami to giggle," besides I think it would be….more polite...yeah, more polite if she introduced herself...yeah that's it." Gohan stammered as he put his hand behind his head and laughed, a habit the young half-saiyan picked up from his father. Ami stood up with blush still on her face as she stood straight.
"Ami Mizuno," she simply said as she did a polite bow.
"Yamcha Turtle," Yamcha said as he bowed in return. The girlfriend looked puzzled as heard the last name.
"How come you call yourself that," the girlfriend asked.
"Well when I was much younger I learned martial arts from a man called 'The Turtle Hermit'" Yamcha explained.
"Wow, my grandfather told me about this "Turtle Hermit." I guess you believe in tradition," the girl surmised.
"Why yes, yes I do," Yamcha said as he put his arm around the girl. The girl then balked, as she forgot to introduce herself in the proper fashion. She broke away from Yamcha and looked at the trio.
"Kasumi Sato," the girl said before she bowed. The trio said their names and returned the gesture. The couple parted ways with the trio shortly after, but not before Yamcha threw in one more dig at Gohan and his "girlfriend." Gohan groaned and rolled his eyes as the couple walked away. The teen took a big bite out of his sandwich along with Goten.
"Wow Ami, these are really good," Gohan complemented.
"Thank you Gohan, but these are just simple sandwiches. Hardly a comparison to the meals your mother makes for you I'm sure," Ami replied.
"These are still really good though," Gohan said as he took another bite. Goten did the same and Ami started in on hers.
The trio finished eating and spent the rest of the day chatting. Gohan and Ami on how they both tend to have perfect scores on their tests and Goten about stuff he did while he and his brother lived in the country. After just enjoying each others company, Ami looked at her watch and it said 5:00pm.
"I believe we need to get back," Ami said, prompting the three of them to get up and clean up whatever mess they made. Gohan brushed off the few crumbs on the table, before Ami put said table back into it's capsule. The three left the park and headed back to the butcher shop.
The three of them made it back without incident. The two of them said bye to Ami as she had to leave for the evening. Gohan even offered to walk her home, but Ami refused with a smile before she walked away. Gohan looked on as the girl left, then turned his attention to Goten and pointed to the rooftop. The two boys went into the back alley behind the shop and made sure no one was looking. The two of them then decided to run up top to the building by running up it's side. The two boys made it in no time to said rooftop. Gohan instructed Goten to stand at attention for the moment.
"Now Goten, you know how I taught you to use those energy all those times, right?" Gohan asked his little brother.
"Yup, like this," Goten said before he made a ball of ki effortlessly with his hand. The boy then dispelled the ball so that nothing could get hurt or destroyed.
"Good, now all you have to do is take your ki and push up with it, like this," Gohan said as he stood at attention. Goten watched as Gohan pushed with his ki and levitated himself into the air. Gohan did do a couple of infinity loops before stopping and lowering himself slowly to the ground.
"I get it, you use your ki to push yourself up, and when you want to land, you use your ki to make sure you don't crash," Goten pointed out.
"You got it little man," Gohan said before instructing Goten to do as he did. Goten went into attention and since his brother did teach him ki control for almost a year, the boy was able to push up easily.
"Now, put yourself back down Goten," Gohan ordered. Goten remembered watching what Gohan did and lowered himself to the ground. The boy did have a hiccup, but was able to stop himself from hitting the ground hard. Goten landed softly onto the ground.
"That was good for a first try. I want you to practice for a while why I watch you, ok" Gohan told him. Goten nodded and put himself back into the air. After a few reps, Goten started going into free flight, doing the very pattern Gohan was doing earlier in the air. The boy would touch down a little fast a time or two, but after a while Goten got the hang of the exercise. As Gohan watched his brother, time began flying by and before you know it a voice broke the boys concentration.
"Gohan, Goten, Chi-chi wants to tell you that dinner's ready," the voice said before Gohan turned to its direction. Standing there was a man about four feet tall with no nose and a slick back hairstyle. Goten stopped and touched down as the boys joined the noseless man.
"Hey Krillen, how did everything go at the shop?" Gohan asked
"We were busy. Very, very busy today with school opening tomorrow. Though we got through it and got everything cleaned up," Krillen said,"well I would like to stay and chat, but 18 is fixing dinner and she really doesn't like it when I dawdle too long."
"Yep I get that...hey mom's not mad right now is she. Since I took Goten on his flying lesson," Gohan asked.
"Nope, she talked to Ami on the phone and she said that Goten was real good today. Say Gohan, when are you going to ask her out," Krillen teased.
"Not you too….ok I guess we better get to dinner then," Gohan said before leaving his chuckling family friend behind. The two boys always saw Krillen as like an uncle since he was Goku's best friend. The family then went to dinner and ate like they usually do. Gohan went ahead and got in a couple of hours of training before doing his evening clean up. The family spent the rest of their time together before Gohan went to bed. The boy looked forward to his first day of school, ready to pass it with flying colors.
A small cat underneath the arcade looked onto her advanced supercomputer. Luna couldn't believe that Artemis found one of the Guardians in England of all places. She missed her feline companion as she searched on her computer. Then an alarm sounded as the screen went to a two story house in the Minato ward of Juban. The cat zoomed in the picture to see a teenage girl with her head out of the window, looking around. Luna looked and saw that this teenager had an unusual hairstyle, her hair in a pair of buns as they went down to one would presume was her mid back. Various boxes popped up telling info about the girl, like her blood type, age, her birthday. The computer then put up another box. This little window was very important as it read.
Usagi Tsukino
Sailor Moon
100% match…
"Looks like I found you Sailor Moon," Luna said. The little cat would probably watch her to make sure that she was Sailor Moon, for Luna did like to be through with her investigations. The cat had an eventful day for herself tomorrow.
A/N: Sometimes students of a Martial Arts dojo will take the dojo's name as their last name. Mr. Satan, or Mr. Makku(Mark) Satan is an example of this in Dragonball. Nothing wrong with some creative license I think. Thank you and hope you enjoyed this chapter.
