Chapter 2: The Little Bunhead
Night before first day of school,
In the night sky there was a beautiful palace and music was playing. People danced to the orchestra as they played their instruments in perfect harmony. A young man, who was taking this all in, walked away from the dance floor. The balcony doors were opened and there was a mirror beside said doors and he couldn't help but look. The image was too blurry to make out, as if the mirror was trying to hide something. The young man could do little about it as he walked outside to the balcony, where a young woman was waiting. A bun headed woman in a white dress smiled at the young man. She appeared to say something, but for some reason the man couldn't hear her.
The sky darkened from it's navy night blue to a pitch black with green as a grotesque face appeared in the sky. Green eyes and a giant wicked smile followed as it charged an attack toward the twosome.
"Help me," the woman uttered as the man drew his sword. The scene shifted to another palace, this time on Earth. A crazed woman with red hair and a crimson mist over her head charged at the man.
"You betrayed the Earth!…." the woman shouted as she charged at him. The woman said his name but for some reason it did not register. The man had not the time as she charged at the princess and for some reason, he darted in front to take the woman's strike. The man fell down and bled profusely as the princess screamed out that same name. Just as the last time though, the name did not register.
Gohan shot out of bed as the dream ended. The boy looked at the alarm and it said 3:55am. Shook by the dream, the young man darted out of bed and went to the bathroom. Splashing water on his face to wake himself up for his routine, Gohan took a look in the mirror and saw his reflection.
'Ok that was new. I might have go to the lookout and talk to Piccolo about this. I have to figure out this damn mystery with this princess before I go insane,' Gohan reasoned.
"Maybe some training will keep my mind off of this nightmare for a while," the half saiyan said to himself before exiting the bathroom, changing into his gi and beginning his morning workout.
Gohan had done his morning routine and walked among the populace of the Juban District as he made his way to Juban High. People were buzzing by on their hover cars, but that was a minority since most people in the city doesn't use them for travel within the district. The young boy then stopped for a second and looked at a photo. An advertisement for the Mr. Satan museum in Roppungi, which got the nickname Satan City since it's his hometown , caused Gohan to laugh slightly.
'Wow, they really give him the royal treatment. Though he did buy all that A5 beef from us a couple of weeks ago. Glad I had my special bike or else that delivery would be late. Well beats the alternative," Gohan thought as he himself probably couldn't handle the press back then. The boy put the poster out of his mind as he walked away and made his way school. The boy's phone rang and he reached into his pants pocket of his black school uniform and clicked a button to answer.
"Hello Bulma," Gohan said over the phone.
"Hi Gohan, I hear this is your first day of school," Bulma pointed out.
"Well yeah, I'm finally going to be with kids my own age," Gohan replied. Excited as he was he did not let it show over the phone.
"It probably beats Chi-chi boot camp any day! How are you enjoying the gravity chamber," Bulma said.
"It works great. Though I like training in nature, it sure comes in handy," Gohan said with a little more excitement showing.
"Yeah, though my husband is wondering why you don't just screw the studies and train like he does. I told him that you wanted to make something of yourself and you can still be really strong. Vegeta just huffed and went back to his training. Why are Saiyans so stubborn?" Bulma said in a little rant.
"Hell if I know. I guess he's mad that I could still be stronger than him," Gohan replied, which caused Bulma to laugh a little.
"Probably….well kid, take care of yourself. And one more thing, try not to get into too many fights. I know you could probably handle a school bully no problem, but you know how your mother is," Bulma warned.
"Yeah I know...well I'll see you later Bulma," Gohan said as he clicked the screen button to end the conversation. Before he knew it, he ended up at Juban High and he was around 30 minutes early. The saiyan put his phone on silent mode as he placed it into his pocket. The gates were open as Gohan entered the building along with many other students.
The boy pulled out a schedule out of his backpack and looked for the room number. He walked the hall for a few moments and climbed a flight of stairs until he saw "205". The boy went into the room and took a seat with a few of the early students. Minutes pass as Gohan placed his stuff around his desk. Not one moment later a short haired blond girl walked over and sat beside him. She looked over and saw Gohan and couldn't help but grin.
'He's cute,' thought the girl as she introduced herself casually to the boy as 'Erasa Minamoto'. Gohan smiled and returned the casual gesture. The girl was rather chatty, but Gohan didn't mind too much. As he saw it, she's killing the boredom of waiting for the homeroom teacher. The boy listened as the girl talked about herself, where she's from, where she lives, how many pairs of shoes she has, and a couple more topics.
"And what about you," Erasa said, feeling that he was probably tired of listening to her blab on. Gohan wasn't tired of her and was kind of amazed at how much she could say in such a short span.
"Well, my name is Gohan Son, and I live above my family's butcher shop. I sometimes help out, but my mom doesn't like that too much since she wants me to study," Gohan pointed out before going into a little detail on his life. Though he did mention Martial Arts, Gohan gave only a brief overview on his training without any ki control or anything other than 'he can defend himself if he needs to do so'.
"Well a boy should be able to defend himself. Otherwise he would just get beat up all the time," Erasa replied like it was common sense. Then another blond figure walked behind Erasa and looked at the half saiyan. Gohan looked back at the long haired, seemingly well built teen who was his height and had a few kilos on the saiyan in the muscle department. The teen smirked as though he knew he had the bigger physique, he could tell that Gohan was no scrawny weakling.
"Sharpner Kusinagi," the boy introduced himself.
"Gohan Son," he replied. The two shook hands and Sharpner tried to test his strength by squeezing his hand, only to find that said hand wouldn't be squeezed. The two let go with Sharpner grinning at the boy.
"You're alright, Son," Sharpner replied as he sat two seats away from Erasa and placed his bag in the seat between. Gohan looked at this, but didn't think much of what the blond boy was doing as the two of them sat down.
"We're saving that seat for my best friend," Erasa pointed out a little quieter than her tone was earlier. Gohan simply nodded as he felt that it was almost time for homeroom to start. The teacher came in was a blond woman with her hair up in a bun and in professional dress.
"Class settle down," the woman said and the class obeyed. Before she could do anything however a young woman with black pigtails, blue eyes, and the white top, black neckerchief, skirt and shoes of the school uniform.
"I'm sorry ma'am," the teen profusely apologized.
"You must be Videl Satan," the woman remarked,"if you didn't have your work with the police I would surely reprimand you. Take your seat Ms. Satan." The icy tone was surely noticed by all of the class. The young woman didn't have to be asked twice as she went over to the seat that Sharpner saved. She lifted the bag and handed it to the young man before she took her seat. The young blond girl smiled at her friend, who couldn't help but give a little smile back.
"Now before I was interrupted, my name is Naoko Yamaguchi. Normally I teach high school year 1 Biology. You will probably see me later on in the day. Check your schedules as they all should be the same." The teacher said before she went into the lecture on how the class works. Gohan listened as intently as he could, though for some reason Videl kept looking at Gohan, as if he looked familiar somehow. Gohan noticed this and tried to ignore her glares. The teacher went on and then saw the next item on her agenda.
"Gohan Son, please stand up," the woman ordered, to which Gohan complied.
"Yes ma'am," the young man replied.
"I must say Mr. Son that I'm impressed. Perfect scores in all subjects in your entrance exam. You lot might learn something from Mr. Son's example," Ms. Yamaguchi commented before ordering Gohan to sit back down. Some of the class did glare at Gohan, but the boy didn't notice because of all of Videl's glaring herself.
"Now one more piece of business. Be sure you brought the proper attire for PE. You should've received it as you received your uniforms. Now you may socialize for the rest of the period," Ms. Yamaguchi said. Videl tapped Gohan on the shoulder as soon as this statement was said. The young saiyan wondered what he did to deserve such a look from her.
"You look familiar," Videl simply stated.
"How does he look familiar to you Videl," Erasa said, trying to get the heat off of the young man.
"I don't think we ever met," Gohan honestly replied. Then it came to Videl and she smiled.
"You were the boy who delivered all that A5 beef to my father, aren't you. My father really talked your ear off didn't he. Bragging about his victories and praising that you got the beef there in a that was a long delivery and giving the traffic of bicycles, foot traffic and other forms you sure got there quickly," Videl pointed out. It was at this time Gohan was glad that he had that special bike from Bulma that he used.
"Well I guess I'm pretty fast on my bike," Gohan replied. True, he did use that vehicle on that day. The delivery vehicle was specially reinforced to take more of Gohan's power and move at a reasonably fast speed. Videl looked at the boy with a glare, but backed off.
"Don't think you are off the hook, mister," Videl warned as she sat back into her seat. Erasa couldn't help but feel for the half-saiyan. She knew that her friend could be like a pitbull at times when it comes to something that catches her curiosity. The blond put a hand on Gohan's shoulder.
"It's ok Gohan, try not to let Videl bother you too much. She really is a good person," Erasa tried to assure her newfound classmate.
"I won't Erasa," Gohan smiled, knowing a couple of good people who were like this girl when it comes to questions. Young Videl reminded him of his mom and to some extent Bulma. Though it seems Erasa has more of Bulma's more bubbly side, at least to his observation. Before the class knew it the bell sounded and the teacher excused herself.
The entire class went to PE for their fourth period. The boys and girls came out of the locker rooms and made their way to the football field. A few of the girls were whispering about the physiques of some of the boys, especially Sharpner and Gohan, much to the chagrin of Videl and the delight of Erasa. Likewise some of the boys did comment a little about the girls physiques as well but all that changed once the coaches whistle sounded off.
"Hello students, I'm Coach Yakisoba and today we are going to do some exercises. If we get through these in about 30 minutes or sooner we are going to play a short game of football," the coach said as he held a black and white spotted ball. The coach then kneed the ball into the air before doing a few bounces off of his forehead and catching the ball. After a quick roll call, he had the class do various stretches to limber them up followed by pushups, sit ups, jumping jacks, squats with no weights. The class finished the exercises in close to the thirty minute mark, the coach blew a whistle and placed the ball at the center of the football field.
"Mr. Kusinagi, Ms. Satan, please report to me," the coach said as the rest of the class stood in front of them and the two reported to the coaches position,"ok you two are the captains. Pick your teammates. Ms. Satan you go first."
Videl looked over the group for a bit before pointing her finger at Gohan and calling out his name. The coach instructed Gohan to go to the right side of the field and he went over to stand behind Videl. Sharpner responded by picking another jock person with the name 'Toyotaro.' Then each captain picked a girl, then another guy, so on and so forth until all the students have been picked. Gohan went over to the goalie position.
"You sure you want that. I could use you as a striker," Videl pointed out, knowing that Gohan at least looked athletic.
"That's fine. I always liked being the goalie," Gohan replied as he stood behind the goal line. Videl just shrugged her shoulders as she took position in the center circle. The teams were in position and the coach tossed up the ball. Sharpner got there and used a header to bring the ball to his side. After a lot of back and forth with steals and even a few fouls, Videl cut underneath Sharpner as he got close to Goal, causing him to fall. The ball rolled to Gohan as the coach blew the whistle.
"Satan, tackling foul. Penalty Kick to Kusinagi," the call was as Gohan handed the ball to the coach. The ball was placed 12 yards from the goal and Sharpner got in position as the other players stand away from the penalty area. The whistle was blown, prompting Sharpner to run up and do a little feint before kicking the ball to the upper right corner of the goal. Every other player though that Sharpner was going to score since it left his foot with such velocity. Gohan dashed those hopes however when he leapt from the left part of the goal to the spot in what seemed like a split second, catching the ball and landed on his feet on the goal line. Sharpner couldn't believe it as what he thought was a sure score was taken away. Gohan held the ball up with one hand and with an almost microscopic flick of the wrist threw a good floater that one of his teammates could actually bump with his forehead without causing extreme pain. Gohan silently thanked his exercises on control for that one.
The game went on and Gohan caught a couple more kicks before Videl made her way to the opposite goal. She feinted to the left, causing the opposing goalie to move that way before going right and kicking it to the spot that Sharpner did to the opposite goal. The goalie was not Gohan however as he tried to block the shot. The ball flew passed him, hit the net and the coach yelled "Goal!". Videl and her team celebrated for a bit before the coach called time. Videl's team were cheering while Sharpner's team had the body language of defeat as they headed to the locker rooms.
"Before you go in there Gohan. Thank you," Videl said in earnest, which caused Gohan to grin a little. Coach blew his whistle and told the two 'lovebirds' to get in their locker rooms. Videl blushed along with Gohan as the two of them did as the coach ordered.
The rest of the school day went on without much incident, outside of Gohan eating about four bento boxes of food during lunch. Though most reasoned that he had to do that in order to keep his fighters physique up, it did scare about one or two of his classmates. The class exited out of the building, with upperclassmen trying to capture the freshmen's attention for clubs. Gohan knew he had a week to decide on what club to join, that is if his mother wouldn't try to kill him. One of the upperclassmen ran up to Gohan and tapped him on the shoulder.
"Hey Son, that ground beef you delivered to the arcade was really good. The kids love the hamburgers we make from it," the guy said to Gohan. Gohan recognized the blond headed short haired man.
"Wow, thanks Senpai," Gohan replied as the other man was an upperclassman after all.
"Son you know better than that. Call me Motoki," Senpai insisted, "and besides, that butcher shop in it's short time has done a lot for this district. I hope it stays around for a long time."
"Well Motoki, I hope so too," Gohan said as the two said their partings and went their separate ways. Gohan went down the street and looked on his phone. There was a text on his phone to call Bulma after school. Gohan sat down on a bench somewhere and dialed Bulma's number.
"Hello...oh hey Gohan," Bulma said as she heard his greeting,"listen I was thinking about what could happen if the Dragonballs were to disappear."
"What makes you ponder about something like that?" Gohan asked.
"Well Gohan, we haven't had any threats since Cell and you know how my mind likes to work on things even in peacetime. Anyway, I was doing some work and my archeologist friend found something about a crystal. He found something about a jewel called the Ginzhouishou, or the Legendary Silver Crystal, you ever heard anything about that Gohan," Bulma said.
Gohan froze for a second. He heard something about a crystal in one of the dreams he had with the princess. Though he ultimately felt that a crazy dream about a princess would probably lead to nowhere and told Bulma that he was unsure about said crystal.
"Well Gohan, we've seen some of the strangest stuff that no one would ever believe. If I were you, why not do some research about this crystal. There might be some material somewhere in the library about this jewel," Bulma reasoned to the young man.
"Hmm, it might be well looking into. I wonder if the lookout would have information," Gohan replied.
"Gohan! That's it! Go to Kami's Lookout sometime today. I'm sure Kami and the other previous guardians kept a hell of a lot of volumes about all sorts of stuff. I'm sure Dende will let you have access!" Bulma cheered. Gohan nodded and went into a back alley. From there, he shot to the sky so fast that if anyone saw him it would only be a blur.
Oregon wilderness….
The boy made it to the lookout, which was guarded by spells for ordinary people to only see a ruined tower that stood oddly straight. What Gohan saw however was a tower that went straight to the heavens and up to the highest point in breathable atmosphere. On the top was a large half sphere platform with two dome towers and a dome shaped building, complete with three archways with many columns and ornately decorated gold plates. The saiyan touched down and walked to a green skinned man with a blue gi, brown shoes, and a white cape with turban.
"Hi Piccolo," Gohan greeted.
"Oh hey Gohan, what brings you here. You need another meditation session," Piccolo replied. He did enjoy those sessions, which helped to strengthen the mind of both him and his former pupil.
"Maybe later, right now I figure I can do my homework here and ask Dende about something. Say Piccolo, have you ever heard about something called the Legendary Silver Crystal," Gohan explained.
"Hmm...Legendary Silver Crystal...I think we might have a book or two maybe about it. Kami might've read something about it somewhere when we were separate. That might not be much to go on though Gohan," Piccolo reasoned to his friend.
"I'll ask Dende after I finish this homework. This stuff is child's play compared to what mom had me do daily though.." Gohan replied as he put his book bag down and pulled out his books to get started. Around 35 minutes later, Gohan finished what would take most students at least 2 hours to do. With his homework organized in his backpack he turned toward the entranceway to a black skinned genie like figure and a green skinned teen about half Gohan's height. The young guardian presented a book to his friend.
"How did you know..." Gohan said in surprise.
"Well Piccolo and I have these ears…." Dende halfway joked, to which Gohan laughed and placed his hand behind his head. Gohan took the book and opened it to read. The book had a picture of two women, both with the same bun headed hairstyle as the princess, with the eldest holding up a wand with a crescent moon head and what looked like a chunky sphere attached. The book was probably thousands of years old, so the fact that it was only a little faded would be considered remarkable.
"It said here that it was an heirloom of the Royal Family of the Moon. This mysterious object was said to be of great power and a powerful weapon to those with a pure heart. It also says here that it disappeared over 1000 years ago, when the kingdom was attacked by a malevolent spirit named Metallia. The jewel defeated the evil force, but at the cost of the queens life," Gohan read outloud to Piccolo and Dende. Piccolo however sighed as he remembered something. Piccolo looked at the picture and couldn't help but have a memory flash into his head. Then and there he called the attention of the other three and decided to tell his tale about a chance encounter.
Piccolo was training his four year old pupil way into the night. The boy wanted a rest, but Piccolo being a lot more negative at the time would not allow it. The two sparred and the Namek slapped him onto a plateau top again.
"Dammit Gohan, you are getting too predictable!" shouted Piccolo at the boy, who was rubbing his sore bottom. The boy stood up and went into his stance, when he happened to gaze up at the moon. Little Gohan began to be entranced by the moonlight as his tail started thrashing about wildly. The boy's heart beat faster and faster as hair grew out from all over his body. The boy then rapidly grew in size as his feet hit the ground with a thud. The now Giant Ape Gohan roared as he thrashed about, destroying the rockface and just about anything else of that area of the countryside. The ape then went after Piccolo, who could barely dodge the giant fists of his feral pupil. Piccolo happened to get some distance and put his hands up into a blast. The namek fired his blast at the moon, hoping to destroy it.
It was not to be however as it seemed the moon itself fired it's own blast to neutralize his attack. A stunned Piccolo could only watch as a silver light shot down and crashed behind the ape. The ape barely felt anything as he froze and his tail seemed to fall off. The ape shrank down to normal, to which revealed a silvery shape to Piccolo.
The namek had no idea what to say as a woman with a silver bun headed, twin ponytailed style glared at him. Piccolo was about to rush at her, but much to his surprise, the woman closed the distance between them with surprising speed. She held a rather ornamental looking sword in her hand as she was ready to defend herself if necessary.
"Why did you try to destroy the moon?" the woman covered in a silvery aura asked Piccolo,"you are the second person to try that in the last nine years."
"What happened the first time woman!" Piccolo shouted.
"Let's just say I was able to use the energy from his blast for my shrouding spell. It was effective until Earth's guardian lifted the veil. Anyway, enough talk. Please don't try to destroy the moon anymore," the woman scolded. Piccolo went in to punch her, but he just went right through her.
"You're just a spirit, aren't you woman," Piccolo growled.
"But of course. You may call me Queen Serenity if you wish," scoffed the woman before looking at the young saiyan on the ground. She zapped some underwear on the child since he was naked after all. She got closer to the unconscious youth and her demeanor began to soften. She extended her hand and a sliver glow enveloped young Gohan, healing his wounds. She then turned her attention to Piccolo, and managed to smile at him.
"Take care of him. I have a feeling that his destiny will be important to this world," Serenity said before transferring into a silver beam and shooting herself toward the moon. Piccolo groaned as he decided to zap an orange gi with his "Demon" symbol on the back onto the boy before he woke up.
Gohan couldn't believe that some spirit woman had the guts to challenge his mentor. In his mind, Gohan had the spirit to thank for him not doing something that he would truly regret that night in ape form. The boy then made the decision right then and there to tell the two of them about his dreams. The many dreams on which involved what he surmised was either a younger version of that woman, or her daughter perhaps. After Gohan finished, the two namekians and the genie couldn't help but ponder about the two tales being told this day.
"Gohan, I don't know what to say about those dreams. Though I would give them some thought," Piccolo told him.
"Who knows, they might be telling you something," Dende added.
"I'll give it some thought. I'd better get home before Mom gets off her shift and gets mad," Gohan said before flying away to the smirking Piccolo and the waiving guardian and waiving genie. Both knew the wrath of an angry Chi-chi and didn't blame Gohan for leaving.
24 days later….
Gohan walked down to the OSA-P jewelry store, only to find a large crowd. Various screams could be heard as the housewives were trying to take advantage of the latest sale, much to the boys chagrin. However, before Gohan could enter the store a piece of paper flew toward his head. The paper was easily caught by the saiyan without even looking. Gohan turned his attention to the paper's direction and happened to see a young girl with her blond hair in two buns and long pigtails. Gohan made an audible sigh, which reached the ears of the girl and practically froze her in place.
The young woman turned around and it was as if time stood still for a second. The saiyan couldn't help but feel a sense of familiarity with her despite only meeting her at this instant. The two stood for a few moments, neither one knowing what to say next.
"Is this yours, Miss Bun-Head," Gohan blurted as he couldn't help but unwrap the ball. The young girl couldn't help but feel the sting of embarrassment and then a tinge of fear as he looked at the paper.
"Give that back," the girl demanded, though it was already too late. Gohan saw the girl's name, many red marks indicating wrong answers and a big red 30 on the page.
"30 percent….if my mom saw this I'd be the next order of meat for sale," the saiyan exaggerated, though that was what he would feel like if this ever happened to him. Gohan handed the paper to the young lady, who crumpled it up and walked off, causing a feeling of complete awkwardness to fall on him.
'I have a feeling Miss Usagi is in big trouble. I wonder if this place has the Silver Crystal,' Gohan thought. The teen made a mental note to check later as he was just following what he would call a silly hunch.
Usagi Tsukino walked down the street, pondering a bit about her chance encounter with the boy. Her heart was beating fast as she clutched the paper close to her chest. She didn't know what this feeling was that came over her. She saw that he was tall and had a strong presence despite the awkward exchange. It felt a bit like fear, but not quite as he did nothing that would indicate any type of threat. Frustration took over however as she squeezed the paper ball wondering why she would even ponder about him at this point.
"Who spikes their hair like that anyway!" she shouted to no one in particular as she walked down the street.
What she didn't notice was a cat, who wound up watching her and Gohan the whole time. She followed her to the arcade, where Usagi noticed a poster of Sailor V. Luna couldn't help but think of Artemis, and if that was the Sailor Guardian he found a year ago. The girl entered the arcade and the stealthy cat went in behind her.
Luna watched as she played the game, seemingly having trouble. One of the workers appeared and it just happened to be Motoki, the boy Gohan speaks with after school from time to time. Motoki noticed the cat as he helped Usagi with a boss in the Sailor V game. Usagi turned her attention to the kitty and noticed a crescent moon on her forehead.
"Wow, that cat has a crescent moon bald spot," Usagi said before she laughed.
"Yeah this cat has been hanging around here for the past few days," Motoki pointed out. Luna just stood there silent before she went outside.
The young girl exited the arcade and was followed by the cat once again. She managed to make it to the Tsukino home without being detected. A few moments later, a woman shoved Usagi out of the door and chastised her about her grades. The girl whined and cried as she begged to be let back in, but it seems the mother was not budging.
'I can't believe this silly girl is Sailor Moon. Though she did help me with those bandages earlier. All these days of scouting her have at least bore some fruit," Luna thought as the boy named Shingo went outside the house. The two children went into a spat before Shingo ran back in and shut the door before Usagi could react. The cat couldn't help but snicker a little at the siblings and their argument. Luna however also remembered that she saw an exchange between her and a young man several minutes ago. Her thoughts couldn't help but drift a little to Gohan, though she did not know his name was Gohan much less make a connection to the teen and the little boy seven years ago. Luna however had to put those thoughts to the side at the moment as she was here for Usagi.
'Still though, after I get her up to speed, I wonder if I could find another Sailor Soldier, or perhaps see if there is more to this little mystery,' Luna thought as the situation wouldn't be the right time in her mind for such a revelation.
While Luna was busy with Usagi, Gohan looked around the jewelry store. . Bulma just happened to be in the store looking around and flagged the saiyan down. The boy was glad that Bulma wasn't part of that small mob around the clearance jewelry at the center of the store. Going around the crowd rather easily, Gohan made his way to the longtime Son family friend.
"Hey Gohan, what brings you here," the green haired woman in white shorts with a blue top asked him.
"Well your hunch, I guess," Gohan replied, to which the woman couldn't help but laugh.
"I was just joking with that...but now that you mention it, a store like this tends to never have sales like this. It just seems bizarre," Bulma told the young man. It was Gohan's turn to laugh.
"Wow, I never thought that the Dr. Bulma would turn down a sale," Gohan chided, to which Bulma couldn't help but stare blankly.
"I'm being serious now Gohan…," she replied before she glared at him,"maybe I ought to have Chi-chi restrict your training time...take away certain equipment since you are being too much like your father."
"Ok, ok, I'm sorry Bulma," Gohan said before going into a longer apology. Bulma laughed after about the sixth line.
"I'm kidding Gohan...geez you are too easy sometimes," Bulma pointed out, causing Gohan to laugh nervously. Something however grabbed Gohan's attention. The saiyan looked over toward the well dressed woman who one would assume was the store owner. Gohan felt a tinge of something in the woman's ki. It was feint, but the boy couldn't help a bit of dark energy in the woman. Bulma tried to get Gohan's attention, but she saw that Gohan had a look of concentration on his face as he used his peripheral vision. Bulma took a short look at her direction before turning her attention back to Gohan.
"You think somethings wrong with her, don't you," Bulma pointed out. Gohan knew that it was no point in arguing since this woman knew about his powers since he was around four.
"Perhaps...maybe I should do a little investigating tonight," Gohan said in a similarly hushed manner. Gohan simply nodded and separated from the older, but fashionable woman. However, she wasn't alone for very long as some of the young women ran over to Bulma, with stars seemingly shining from their eyes.
"Wow, it's Dr. Bulma," one young girl chirped excitely.
"The most beautiful scientist on Earth," another teen girl gushed.
"Hi, I'm Naru and can I have your autograph," the star struck girl with shoulder length hair said in her fangirl trance. Bulma backed away slowly, then made a run for it out of the door. Many of the crowd followed her outside and ran after her as Gohan watched. The saiyan decided that he saw nothing as he went back to the butcher shop.
The sun went down and Gohan changed into all black attire. The young man tried to walk out, but Goten tugged on his pants leg to get his attention. Gohan looked down at his younger brother with a smile on his face.
"How come I can't go with you Gohan?" Goten asked.
"Well it's because I have to do what's called a Stakeout. I'll probably have to sit there, and watch the same old building. Those type of things can be boring Goten, especially where there is no action," Gohan pointed out.
"I still wanna go with you Gohan! I always went with you when we lived out in the country playing training games. Now, your always are busy with school and stuff, and I only get to play with Trunks every once in a while when we are in Kyoto. I wanna go!" whined the little brother.
"Yeah, but I have to do some sneaking around Goten. If it makes you feel any better, Trunks isn't doing this one either. If it is anything like I think it is, there will probably be plenty of times where you get to show off your training that mom and me put in with you. It's just this time, it's better if I go in solo," Gohan told his brother.
"You mean even if I don't go now. I might actually get to fight?" Goten replied.
"Yup, little guy. You and Trunks are stronger than most adults. I'm not going to keep you two out of it forever just because I'm doing this thing tonight. You know better than that Goten," Gohan reasoned. Goten cheered up instantly and wished his brother luck. Gohan walked out of the bedroom and locked eyes with his mother.
"Gohan, good luck. And if you find that crystal you told me about at dinner, please try to find it's rightful owner," Chi-chi said. Gohan nodded and made his way out of the door and into the night.
Gohan threw on his hood and started hopping rooftops. Keeping himself above street light level, he hopped building after building. He got to the building next to the jewelry store and couldn't help but hear a girl's scream. Gohan sneaked up to the window where he saw a young girl in what he would call a strange Sailor Uniform avoiding a blade from a grotesque figure.
'Go behind the store,' said a voice in his head. Gohan stopped for a second, but the voice kept urging him so he ran behind the store.
'Now think these words in your head...Tuxedo Power...make up…' the voice said.
'But I have a disguise,' Gohan reasoned with the voice.
'Just do it,' chastised the voice.
'Ok,ok geez…' Gohan replied before concentrating and thinking that very phrase. Next thing he knew he was in a black tuxedo with a white ruffled shirt, gloves, eye mask and bowtie. A black, top hat with a cape completed the ensemble.
'Ok this is worse than when my mom sent me to Namek,' Gohan griped toward the voice mentally. Gohan did do a couple of stretches in the tuxedo and found it to be surprisingly nimble.
'What...did you think I was going to put you in something that was stiff, by the way...call yourself Tuxedo Mask,' the voice taunted.
'Ok ok...now how about we quit arguing with you and save that girl inside the store,'Gohan replied.
The young girl in a Sailor Fuku was cornered by the monster and what appeared to be several girls under mind control. The girl couldn't help but look at a girl who was in a seated position, obviously terrified. Frozen in fear, she did not know what to do to help her friend. The stalemate however was halted by shattered glass.
"Attack her!" the monster ordered. One of the girls came at her with a bottle, but before she could touch her with the bottle, the masked Gohan appeared and chopped her in the back of her neck. The glass weapon shattered as the enslaved girl fell into unconsciousness. Gohan then moved faster than many people could see to the side of the girl in the fuku.
"The lady that owns the store," Gohan quietly asked the stunned girl. She nodded and Gohan took a fighting stance. More of the enslaved girls charged at the two. Gohan darted away from the girl and backhanded the closest attacker in the stomach, causing her to fall over. Another attacker threw a punch only for Gohan to spin around to her back and tap her neck with his two fingers. Gohan then darted around like an insect, tapping pressure points on each girl. The last one wound up with a touch between her eyes, causing her eyes to roll before she fell on her face.
"Who in the hell are you!" shouted the monster, "I'm Morga"
"Well monster, I'm the one called Tuxedo Mask," Gohan said as he started bouncing oh his feet like a boxer," and you are going down."
Morga charged at Gohan and slashed at him. The boy dodged with ease as he jumped away. Seeing her chance, Morga turned around and leapt at the girl, who screamed in response. For some reason, her jewels on the buns of her head vibrated. The sound became amplified, which caused the monster and Gohan to cover their ears. The screaming stopped and Gohan seemed to be fine, but the monster was getting up groggily. That's when a certain black cat popped it's head out of the corner that the girl was very close to during the fight.
"Sailor Moon, you know how to fight," urged Luna.
"But Luna," the inexperienced Sailor Moon tried to argue.
"No buts. Now take your Tiara off and shout Moon Tiara Boomerang before you throw it," Luna instructed. The girl took her tiara off and went into position.
"Moon Tiara Boomerang!" the Sailor Soldier shouted just before she threw the projectile. The tiara projected a disc of golden light as it made it's way to the target. Morga screamed as the object crashed into her. In an instant, she crumbled, and revealed the store owner. Gohan went over to the unconscious form, knelt down and placed two fingers on the side of her neck. After confirming that she has a pulse, Tuxedo Mask stood back up and gave Sailor Moon a thumbs up.
"As I told the monster, I'm Tuxedo Mask," Gohan reintroduced himself.
"I'm….I'm Sailor Moon," the Sailor Soldier replied with a smile that couldn't help but adorn her features.
"Well Sailor Moon...I will remember you," Gohan said before he leapt up and flew out of the shattered window. Sailor Moon heard a boom in the distance as Tuxedo Mask flew away from the building.
"Tuxedo Mask...he's cute…..no actually he's gorgeous," Sailor Moon said to herself.
"I know that he's cute and all, but I think we need to leave," Luna urged. The twosome then made use of Gohan's makeshift entryway as they made their escape.
The girl who was petrified with fear however, felt a sigh of relief as the monster was stopped before something worse happened. The girl silently thanked the two heroes as she fell asleep, too tired to go to bed and her nerves too shot to stay awake.
Meanwhile, at the Dark Kingdom home base, a figure with sandy blond hair and in a gray uniform looked into a crystal ball. The man watched the whole situation, disappointed at the failure of his monster. Part of him though couldn't help but congratulate Tuxedo Mask on knocking out the enslaved ones while Sailor Moon screamed her way to victory.
"It looks like we are going to have to find the Silver Crystal sooner than we realized," the man said to no one in particular as he waived his hand and made the ball disappear. The man then went into the dark recesses to plan his next move.
A/N: OK that was a long chapter. I didn't expect it to be this long, but I found that if I did it as I originally intended I would throw the story way out of whack so to speak. I hope that I did at least a good version of Sailor Moon's first scuffle through mostly Gohan's POV. BTW, yep...Gohan is Tuxedo Mask. At least I didn't make him do Saiyaman poses on top of that. Please keep reading and thank you for taking the time to Fav/Follow and Review.
