Kates POV
"So did we miss anything while we were out?" Lilly asked smugly sitting down on the other couch to the right of us. It was smaller with two cushions. Perfect for her and Humphrey. The one me and Rick were sitting on had three though so Angel sat next to Rick. The chair to our left sat empty.
"No" I said innocently as I avoided eye contact. Lilly just smiled and slowly nodded.
"Uh-huh" she said. Like she cracked a case.
"So what are the plans now?" Angel asked us. Taking glances at the two pairs that sat next to her. She almost always had a cute and innocent look to her. Probably because she was grey with black hair. Just like Rick except without the beard look. What is going on with me and him? I'm confused.
"Well I thought before I took you and Rick home, we could do something, we haven't really hung out together yet" Humphrey explained as he made gestures with his right hand. His left was wrapped around Lilly.
"Any ideas?" she asked. Looking back at Humphrey as she did so. I sunk back into the couch, holding Rick's hand in my lap. Holding it with my right and petting it with my left.
"Maybe we could just… do something here?" I suggested. As I looked up to the ceiling. I didn't really want to go anywhere with crutches.
"Like what?" Rick asked, turning to me. I looked into his eyes from the side as my head was still aimed at the ceiling.
"Pizza and games?" I recommended. Rick laughed with the same low laugh I think I'm starting to love.
"You just ate," he said.
"What did you guys eat?" Lilly asked. She had that same smile like she was onto something. I'm not going to lie, it annoyed me.
"We had some food at Nathan's," Rick answered, turning back to Lilly.
"Your sister has quite the stomach in her" Rick said as he gave my belly a light tickle. I laughed and curled up a bit.
"Rick. stop" I laughed. When he did he sat back where he was as I continued holding his hand with both of mine. "It's more for them than it is for me" I told him. He nodded and turned to the others.
"Sound good to you guys?" he asked them. The others nodded as Angel answered.
"I'm down," she said. I liked Angel's attitude. She seemed to take almost anything as a joke. One of these days I'll have to bring her along when me and Lilly have one of those days where we just go out.
"I don't think I know any games that allow five players though, so how about a movie?" Lilly said. It was a good idea. But what kind?
"What would we watch?" Humphrey asked. Beating me to the question. We all silently thought.
"Slashers are always fun to watch with friends," Angel said. The others nodded, including myself. "Rick knows all about those types of things," Angel added, turning to him.
"I don't know what Kate has, if we were at my house I'd have all the good shit" Rick explained as he turned to me.
"Okay next time we'll do this at your place" I said giggling and hitting him on the arm playfully. "But to answer your question we don't really have dvds so we have to use netflix or something" i explained as Lilly turned on the TV. She then tossed the remote over to Rick.
"While you look for something I'll order," Lilly said, getting up.
"You want me to pay?" Rick called out to her. He's so generous.
"I'll get it," Humphrey said as he got up and followed Lilly into the kitchen, pulling out his wallet in the process.
While Rick looked for a movie I asked Angel to do me a favor.
"Yeah what's up?" she asked me.
"Could you perhaps bring my charger downstairs? It's on my nightstand," I said. She didn't respond, just got up and went to do the task.
"So what time do your parents get home?" Rick asked. In the background I heard Lilly start ordering.
"Why did you have plans you don't want them knowing about?" I asked seductively in his ear, resting my head on his shoulder. I felt him tense up. "Calm down, I'm kidding" I said , backing off. I continued holding his hand though. After about fifteen seconds Angel came down and handed me my charger. "Plug it in?" I started to feel like I was getting annoying. She did it though. I thanked her as she sat back down.
"Of course," she said. I plugged my phone in and waited for it to turn on. Just then Lilly and Humphrey came back in and sat back down on the couch.
"About thirty minutes," Lilly said.
"Okay so all I see in terms of slashers is the friday the 13th remake" Rick said as he continued to scroll. Netflix never has shit. "Want me to search hulu or something?" Rick asked me.
"No, it's fine," Lilly answered for me. I guess we were watching Friday the 13th. I wasn't complaining.
About ten minutes into the movie my phone turned on. I haven't been on it in so long. First thing I needed to do was add Rick to my contacts so I did just that. Reading the number from the paper he gave me I put the number into my phone. I just needed one more thing.
"Hey Rick. Send me that picture" I whispered in his ear. He pulled out his phone and went to my number before hitting send message. He sent me the picture of him and put his phone away.
"Get it?" he asked me. I checked my phone and sure enough I got it. I put it as his profile picture and smiled. I loved it so much.
"Thank you" I whispered before kissing him on the cheek. I enjoyed doing that. I rested my head on his shoulder until the doorbell rang.
"Rick, could you pause it?" Lilly said, getting up and walking over to the door. He paused it as Humphrey and Angel followed.
"You want me to get you any?" Rick asked me. I really do think he enjoys taking care of me.
"I'm not hungry, i told you more for them than me" i said turning my head to him. I was still resting on his shoulder so I was pretty close.
"You did say that," Rick said, still looking at the TV.
"I hope school isn't going to be too hard with this" i said changing the subject. I hadn't really thought about the whole crutch situation but it did worry me.
"Im sure youll manage, plus i'll be taking care of you the whole way" Rick reminded as he turned to face me finally. Our lips were almost touching. I had that urge again. Before anything could happen though the trio came back with their food. "Pizza hut?" Rick asked. Turning to them.
"The best of the best" Lilly said as she sat down next to Humphrey again.
"How did you do that?" Angel asked. Rick turned to her and chuckled.
"I know my restaurant smells," he said, resuming the movie.
After about thirty minutes we got to the sex scene of the movie. Hard cowgirl was the type. Out of the corner of my eye I saw Lilly whisper something to Humphrey that made his ears shoot up. He whispered something back before getting up.
"I have to go to the bathroom, you don't have to pause it" he said as he walked up the steps. As we continued to watch, I drifted off into my own thoughts. I just found it odd that we all seemed to be one year older than another. Angel was fifteen, Lilly was Sixteen, Humphrey and I were seventeen, and I think Rick was eighteen. I didn't know though, I'd have to ask him later. As I was thinking about this Lilly got up.
"i'm gonna go check on him" she said. As she walked to the stairs.
"I'm sure he's fine," Angel said. Lilly didn't respond as she ascended up the steps. "She thinks were fucking stupid doesn't she?" Angel asked. Me and Rick laughed.
"How do you know she's lying?" I asked.
"I'll prove it. Give it five minutes and I'll go up there and prove it" Angel said. Rick and I looked at each other before turning back to Angel.
"It WAS pizza hut," Rick said. He laughed again.
"Maybe she was right, you two are stupid" Angel said jokingly as we all shared a laugh about it.
"I saw Lilly whisper something to him, not sure what it was but i have a pretty good idea" i told the two. Rick nodded while Angel rolled her eyes.
"Why does everyone else have someone to fuck but me?" she said, catching Rick and me off guard.
"What about us?" I asked her. She looked at me and smirked.
"It's not like that," Rick said.
"Really? You haven't let go of her hand the whole time we've been here" Angel said, pointing to my lap.
"Were friends" I defended. Angel stood up and started walking to the stairs.
"Of course you are," she said before sneaking up.
"Sorry about her," Rick said. I felt my ears flatten as I turned to face him.
"Why? She's funny," I said with a small smile.
"You think?" he asked, nudging me.
"Yes. I do," I said as I turned back to the movie. It was almost done at this point. Angel came back downstairs and instead of sitting on the couch with us again, laid down on the small couch where Lilly and Humphrey were sitting earlier. "Well?" I asked curiously.
"The bathroom was empty and Lilly's bedroom door was shut, '' she said, not looking away from the screen.
"What are they doing?" I asked with a grin.
"Oh they fuckin" Angel said, making us laugh again.
After another twenty minutes the movie ended.
"Always a pleasure" I said sitting up. Rick turned off the TV and looked at Angel who was snoozing.
"Probably stayed up all night," Rick told me. I hummed in response. She looked so comfortable where she was. "Maybe not the most exciting night, but once you're out of that we'll do something" Rick said, pointing to my cast.
"I hate it," I whimpered. "I must be a pain to hang out with," I said looking down. Rick placed a finger under my chin, and gently raised my head to meet his gaze.
"Not at all," he said quietly. "I'd hang out with you everyday if I could," he added. He was so gentle with me. I wonder if he'd be the same during…
"you really mean that?" I asked. He nodded. Before the moment could go anywhere though Humphrey came down the stairs. "Have fun?" I asked jokingly, he blushed as he scratched the back of his head.
"Where's Lilly?" Rick asked.
"Sleeping," Humphrey answered, taking a seat in the chair to the left of us.
"Must have really done a number on her," I commented. Humphrey shook his head before speaking.
"I promised my parents I would be home before ten, you okay if we go?" he asked Rick. he nodded as he let go of my hand. He walked over to Angel and shook her gently.
"Angel, it's time to go come on," he said. She moaned as she sat up and locked eyes with Humphrey.
"I could still hear you threw the fucking door you know" she said. Me and Rick laughed as Humphrey turned bright red.
"Enough. time to go" Rick said, still laughing at Angel's comment. "I'll see you," Rick said to me before walking away.
"On Monday, we're going to see our grandparents tomorrow," I told him. He nodded before disappearing around the corner. "I'll text you" I called before Rick called back.
"Sounds good" I heard the door shut and slowly got up to go shower.
When I got up the stairs I peeked in Lilly's room and saw her sleeping naked with the sheets over her. How the fuck did she lose her virginity before me? I'll never know. I sprayed a little something to cover up the light smell of sweat before closing her door so mom and dad wouldn't get suspicious. After my shower I stripped down to my T-shirt and panties before crawling into bed, and throwing my crutches to the side. It is gonna feel so fucking good to get this off. I'll feel so light. Before I closed my eyes I texted Rick. "thanks again for the favor" i hit send and within seconds he responded back with a smiley face. How cute I thought.
