Madison's eyes were still closed until she heard the sound of gulls and people talking and shouting. She opened her eyes and found herself in the alleyway. She looked around to see her surroundings. There were crates and papers around and luckily, no people coming through here.
She got herself up but then looked at her appearance. She was wearing a olive green dress with light green linings and with her is a satchel but as she looked at her hands, she now knew that she was a hand drawn cartoon character.
"Where did you take me?" she asked her necklace until the wind blew a little.
Paper went flying past her until one landed on her face. She grabbed the paper and looked at it. The words were in Spanish that Madison knew a little from Latin movies she watched but as she looked at the date, it read 'Spain, 1519.'
"Of course." said Madison as realization hit her, "Now I know where I am. I'm in the El Dorado movie. And of course, this is Spain." she said as she got up and brushed the dirt off of her.
But as she decided to have a look around, something hit her as she realized something.
'Wait a minute... if I'm in 1519, that means the English settlers didn't come to America before. I better do an excuse if someone asked me where I'm from. If I understand full Spanish and I certainly don't look Latin.' she thought as she looked at herself.
She inhaled and exhaled her breath as she felt nervous but decided to remain calm to herself and then stepped out of the alleyway.
Madison started walking as she looked around to see people being busy. People at the docks fishing and parking their boats, marketing for food, and women in finest gowns were chatting and giggling. Spain does seem very nice and there are some men being handsome and romantic but there are some that looked uncomfortable and using cat calls. Madison groaned disgust and kept on walking until...
"Make way for Hernán Cortés!" a voice shouted.
Madison looked straight up to see some men coming up. She quickly moved to the side to let them pass as they were getting closer. Madison watched to see them coming by until she him. Cortés. The second villain of the movie and the animal he was riding on was Altivo. The loyal horse to the con men.
She looked at him as he was looking straight but when he looked down to face her, she quickly looked away like a shy girl would do as the man rode past her.
'Cortés will always be scary. Even in dark shadows. But not as scary as Tzekel-Khan.' she thought.
As she saw him going farther away through the crowd, her heart was still pumping but sighed with relief that he was gone. As Madison continued her walk, she saw some sailors that were using cat calls on any lady that walked past by.
Madison started feel uncomfortable and thought of turning around but it was too crowded. She thought of going to another alleyway on the left, but it was blocked and there was nothing on her right cause there was water. Madison groaned knowing that she had no other choice but to go straight in a quick way. She quickly walked and looked straight as she was now close to the sailors. She started to ignore them but felt sick to their stomach but finally made it passed them until...
A scream came out of her as someone grabbed her arm. Madison looked to see another sailor with a devious smile as he was looking at her. Madison started to feel scared and tried to break free from her.
"Well, well. What's a bonita señorita like you doing by the streets alone by yourself? Hope I didn't scare you."
"The only thing I'm more scared of is your manners now let me go!" Madison yelled as she struggled.
"Feisty one, aren't you?" the sailor chuckled, "I like that. Why not we sail off somewhere and do some fun time?"
Madison looked disgusted by the man's words and growled.
"I WILL NOT!" she yelled and tried to slap him with the other hand, but the sailor grabbed it.
"Come on now querida, let's not fight now."
Madison kept on struggling and even trying to kick him but the sailor dodge and grabbed her arms tightly. She winced as she felt the pain like her bones will be crushed. She was now scared and now felt like she's going to lose her innocence to a horrible stranger until...
Something got between the two by force and Madison fell to the ground. Madison groaned from the fall and rubbed the pain off her arms until she heard a voice.
"Leave my prima alone!" he said to the sailor.
'Prima? That's Spanish for female cousin. I'm not related to someone.' Madison thought in confusion.
She looked up and couldn't believe her eyes as she saw a man with blonde hair and was wearing the iconic red shirt.
It was he himself. Miguel.
"You again?! You robbed me from one of the bets last time! Shouldn't you be with your partner and how is she your cousin?!"
"My family were born brunette, but I was born blonde." Miguel spoke in an act.
He looked back at Madison and gave her a wink.
Madison realized that it was a trusted wink as she got up but quickly ran off to leave the two men fighting.
Madison ran as fast as she could until she turned to an opening alleyway. But to her side, there crates and there was an opening behind them. Madison looked both sides and starts hiding behind the boxes. Her heart was pounding, her arms were a little sore from the grab and she was panting a lot. Madison took a few breaths until she saw her necklace glowed. The magic came out of gem towards her arms.
It was healing them, and Madison felt calm relax until her arms felt better.
"Thank you, my friend." she spoke softly to her, "But for now you must lay low and not do any magic. This kind of century is still on witch hunting and I don't want to get killed."
The necklace glow twice in agreement and understanding until Madison heard footsteps. Madison stood quiet and not made a sound as the sound grew closer.
But as she peaked through the crates, she saw that it was Miguel. Madison stood silent as she looked at him. His was curious and looked around but as he turned to face the crates, Madison hid back and not making a sound. She closed her eyes and hoped he was gone until...
"Miguel!" another voice shouted. "Miguel!"
Madison recognized that other voice and know that it was Tulio hollering for him.
"Miguel, come on!"
Madison heard footsteps running and saw that Miguel was leaving. Madison looked to the direction to where he was going and felt something inside of her. He did save her life from that sailor, and she should have thanked him instead of hiding from him.
So, Madison starts running as she decided to find Miguel.
