One Year ago
Hotel room.
Maria woke up and gasps.
"You need to calm down." Man said
"Who are you?" Maria asked the man
"My name is Eric Northman. What's your name?" Eric asked Maria
"Maria Stackhouse." Maria said
Eric gave her a cup of tea. She took a sip out of it.
"I'm guessing you getting mauled from a couple of Weretigers was not part of your plan." Eric said
Maria her cup on the table.
"There's so much about my heritage that I don't know about. I thought I was bitten when I was born. It wasn't a virus. I started the transformation 2 years ago. It was a late transformation for me. They told me I wasn't more tiger but more human. They either force me to kill a human or I die. I've kept faking it. Not killing humans." Maria explain
"You couldn't go through with it?" Eric asked Maria
"Part of me is human. Of course I couldn't go through with it." Maria said
"Let me teach you something's." Eric said
Reality
"Maria Stackhouse." Eric said
"Hey, Eric." Maria said
They enter in his office.
"Glad you're back here in Louisiana." Eric said
"So am I. That Pam is a real work." Maria said
"She's always like that." Eric said
"Have you found anything about my parents?" Maria asked Eric
"There was a lot of words, Maria. I didn't get anything." Eric said
"Thanks anyways. (Maria was about to leave but Eric vampspeed in front of her.) Really?" Maria asked Eric
"You know what I want." Eric said
Eric kissed Maria's neck.
"It's always sex when it comes to you. (Eric stops) But it doesn't mean I'll stop what...well whatever we have. Not today. Ok?" Maria said
"When?" Eric asked Maria
"Soon." Maria said
Eric moves out of her way and opens the door. Rose leaves.
Bon Temps.
Forest.
Maria transform back into her human form, get her clothes out of her backpack, and put her clothes back on.
Stackhouse Residence.
Maria opens the kitchen door and closed it.
"Maria where have you been out there all night?" Gran asked her granddaughter
"I was walking." Maria lied
"There's bad people out there." Gran said
"Bad people? Right. Or in that case people lie right in front of me. Closest to me." Maria said
"Maria Willow Stackhouse! I could never lie to my own grandchildren." Gran said
"Then answer me this. Am I adopted? Does Sookie know? Does Jason know?" Maria asked her grandmother
"It's more complicated then that." Gran said
"That doesn't answer my question." Maria said
Maria shed a tear. She ran upstairs, goes into her room, and slammed the door.
Sunday
Maria walked downstairs and heads to the door. She opens the door and walked outside. Sookie catches up with her.
"Maria what's going on with Gran?" Sookie asked her sister
"Ask her yourself." Maria said
Merlotte's.
Sam's office.
Maria knocked on the door.
"Come in. (Maria opens the door and closes it behind her.) Hey Maria." Sam said
"Could I talk to you about something?" Maria asked Sam
"What's wrong?" Sam asked Maria
Maria sits down.
"When did you find out that you were adopted?" Maria asked Sam
"When I was 15. I took it rough. But I could tell you were feeling the same way. Your scent." Sam said
"My scent? What are you talking about?" Maria asked in confusion
"Your tiger abilities." Sam said
"You know? (Sam stands up and transform into a dog.) Oh my god. (Sam transform back into human but naked. Maria turn her back as Sam puts his clothes back. She turns back around.) How come you didn't tell us?" Maria asked Sam
"I was scared. I mean you see vampires coming out of a coffin 2 years from now. You know how many creatures wanted to come out?" Sam asked Maria
"No I don't. I've known for 3 years of what I am and adoption. It sucks because Gran didn't tell me the truth about my birth parents." Maria said
"Maybe there's a reason of why she didn't tell you." Sam said
"I just need some time." Maria said
"Well for you to get sometime. How would you like to work here?" Sam asked Maria
"Can I start now?" Maria asked Sam
"Sure." Sam said
Night time.
Maria was serving food to the customers.
"Maria." Lafayette said
"Coming right up." Maria said
Maria walked over to the kitchen order counter.
"You're doing good out there." Lafayette said
"Well you know me. Here and there." Maria said
Lafayette laughed.
"And I see Hoyt is waiting for you." Lafayette said
"He's sweet. I promise someone to go on one date with him." Maria said
Maria gets the tray and walks away. She stopped at Hoyt's table.
"I've been meaning to ask you something." Hoyt said
"You wanted to ask me out." Maria said
"How did you know?" Hoyt asked Maria
"Word gets around." Maria said
"How about tomorrow? Lunch date?" Hoyt said
"Sure." Maria said
Jason approaches to them.
"Maria I need to talk to you." Jason said
Maria walked away. Jason chased after her. He grabbed her arm and dragged her at the back.
"Jason what the hell?" Maria said
"Listen the vampire is going to be at the house in 1 hour." Jason said
"Yeah. So?" Maria said
"We need to be there." Jason said
"I'm not getting off work that easily." Maria said
"Gran told us today why you were upset." Jason said
"And the word gets around." Maria said
"I think you should hear it from her." Jason said
"Fine. But we need to hurry up." Maria said
Sam goes outside.
"Just making sure you're ok?" Sam asked Maria
"I am. Rain check?" Maria asked Sam
"Actually you're free to go." Sam said
"Thanks Sam." Maria thanking Sam
Stackhouse Residence.
Living room.
Jason, Tara, Maria, Bill and Sookie are seated. Gran is walking around with a tray of food, offering sandwiches to everyone. She extends the tray toward Bill who just shakes his head.
"Oh, my stars. Of...of course. You...you don't...I...I'm sorry. (Gran sets the tray down and then takes a seat.) Your people, Mr. Compton, they were from this area...I believe?" Gran asked Bill
"Yeah, my father's people were Comptons, and my mother's people were Loudermilks." Bill said
"Oh, there are a lot of Loudermilks left. But I'm afraid old Mr. Jesse Compton died last year." Gran said
"Yes, ma'am. That's why I came back to Bon Temps. There were no living Comptons so I've set up home in the old Compton place. And as I expect the VRA to pass..." Bill said
"Yeah, I wouldn't be too sure about that if I were you. A lot of Americans don't think you people deserve special rights." Jason said
"They're the same rights you have." Bill said
"No, I'm just saying there's a reason things are the way they are!" Jason said
"Jason hush!" Maria said
"Yeah...It's called injustice." Bill said
Jason was angry.
"Listen, it's called, "this is how we do it!" Jason said
"Jason! This is my house. I will not tolerate rudeness! (Jason grows quiet and leans back into his chair. Gran composes herself and smiling, turns to Bill.) Did you know the Stackhouses, Mr. Compton?" Gran asked Bill
"Yes, uh...I remember Jonas Stackhouse. He and his wife moved here when Bon Temps was just a hole in the road. I was a young man of 16. Isn't this the house he built? I mean, at least in part?" Bill asked Gran
"Yes, it was!" Gran said
"Did you own slaves?" Tara asked Bill
"Tara!" Sookie and Maria said
"I did not, but my father did. A house slave, a middle-aged woman whose name I cannot recall, and... and a yard slave ... a young, strong man named Minus." Bill said
"Oh, this is just the sort of thing my club will be so interested in hearing about." Gran said
"About slaves?!" Tara asked Bill
"Well...about...anything having to do with that time." Gran said
"I look forward to speaking to your club, Mrs. Stackhouse. Now, if it's all right with you, I thought that Sookie and I might take a walk. It's such a lovely night." Bill said
"Well...it's all right with me if it's all right with Sookie." Gran said
Jason quickly puts his beer down on the table and stands up facing Bill.
"I don't think that's a good idea." Jason said
"I don't think it's any of your business!" Sookie said
"It's her choice." Maria said
"Sookie's right, Jason." Gran said
"Look, Gran, I am the man in this family." Jason said
"You are a man in this family, but I am the oldest person here and this is my house. You better respect me, boy!" Gran said
"Actually...I'm the oldest person here. (Gran smiles and laughs. Then Bill addresses Sookie.) Shall we?" Bill said
"We shall." Sookie said
Sookie takes Bill's extended hand and the two of them leave, but not before Bill gives Jason a dark parting look, which makes Jason take a step backwards.
"Well, thanks for making me look like a fool in front of him, Gran." Jason said
"Oh Jason, you don't need any help looking like a fool. (Maria picks up the tray and walks out of the living room and entered the kitchen. Gran followed.) We need to talk. (Maria put the tray in sink. She faces Gran.) This is my house. I'm still your grandmother." Gran said
"Why didn't you tell me?" Maria asked her grandmother
"It made sense to me all those years ago. You were different then Corbett." Gran said
"What are you saying?" Maria asked her grandmother
"Michelle cheated on Corbett with another man. (Gran gets out a picture. Maria sees her mother Michelle and the man in the photo.) That man in the photo is your father." Gran said
"Lord. That means I really am Jason and Sookie's half sister?" Maria asked her grandmother
"They only see you as a sister not half. Just like I see you as my own granddaughter." Gran said
Maria cried and hugged her grandmother.
Monday
At a restaurant.
They stopped eating.
"Listen Hoyt. I get it that you like me. You're nice, sweet, and kind. But I like someone else. (Hoyt chuckling.) Why are you chuckling?" Maria asked Hoyt
"Because you were right. I guess I just don't see it. No spark. Thinking I could make this work. Making it work." Hoyt said
"There is a girl who's out there for you. You just got to go find her." Maria said
Merlotte's
Maria standing at the order counter.
"How's your date with Hoyt?" Sookie asked her sister
"It was ok. But I had to let him down gently." Maria said
"Why?" Sookie asked in confusion
"I told him I like someone else." Maria said
"Why did you tell him unless...(Sookie figured it out.) Oh. Who is it?" Sookie asked her sister
Sookie's sister shakes her head. She reads her mind but she was vocalizing in her head.
"What the hell, Sook?" Maria said
"I just wanted to know who it is." Sookie said
Maria walked away with a tray.
Shreveport.
Inside Fangtasia.
"If you're here to see Eric. He's, uh,...busy." Pam said
Maria looked in the office and he wasn't there. She looked in the basement. She wouldn't believe her eyes.
"Dawn? Eric?" Maria said
"Maria?" Eric said
"I came here to tell you something. Yet you're fucking my best friend. (Maria ran back upstairs but Eric appeared in front of her in his vampspeed.) Get out of my way." Maria said
"Its not what you think." Eric said
Dawn puts her clothes on.
"You fucked my best friend. I'm not talking to either one of you again." Maria said
Maria nudged Eric out of the way. She gets out of the basement and back into the vampire bar. Dawn followed her. Maria turned around and slapped her. She ran at the back and hide behind the dumpster. She takes her clothes off, put it in the backpack, turned into a Weretiger, take her backpack and ran away.
