Madison and Tulio got up as they stared at the boulder. Tulio looked at the sides and find if there is any gold or a city. Madison just stared at carvings and decided to look around but when she came behind the boulder, she saw more carvings. Madison knew that it wasn't there before in the movie. She looked at the carvings to see a girl holding like magic in her hands and a crystal around her neck which looked the same as hers.
"Okay. This is getting weird." she whispered to herself.
"Find anything?" Tulio spoke as he was talking to her.
Madison quickly got back to the front and looked at him.
"No. Not a single speck of gold." she shook her head, "Talk about disappointment."
Tulio frowned as he looked at the boulder, but he agreed with her and then he shook Miguel to wake him up.
"Miguel. Miguel, wake up." he whispered as he was waking his partner up.
Miguel groaned and moved a little while Altivo was awake and got up.
"We're there?" the blonde asked.
"Oh, yeah."
"We found it?"
"We found it."
"Oh! Fantastic!" Miguel exclaimed as he got up, "Where is it? How far?"
"Right here!" Tulio answered as he pointed at the boulder.
"Where?" Miguel asked as he looked around.
"Here!"
"Behind the rock?"
"No, no. This is it."
Miguel looked at the boulder as he looked confused.
"Give me that!" he said as he grabbed the map out of Tulio's hands and looked at it, "This ca-What?"
"I'm sorry Miguel, but this is it." said Madison.
"Apparently, "El Dorado" is native for "great, big... rock"!" Tulio yelled.
Madison covered her ears from the shout as Tulio's voice echoed throughout the jungle.
"Hey, but I tell you what, I'm feeling generous, so you can have my share!" he said to Miguel as he got on Altivo's back.
"You don't think Cortes could've gotten here before us and..."
"And what? Taken all the really big rocks? The scoundrel!"
"Tulio, you... We have to think about this. We've come all this way, and we... w-we should really, you know..."
"Get... on... the horse!" Tulio growled as he glared at him.
Miguel sighed in disappointment with his head down.
"No, no, no, not with the face. Stop." said Tulio as he grabbed Miguel up on the horse behind him, "Looks like there's a pass right over there."
Madison looked at Miguel as he was still disappointed until something startled Altivo. She looked and saw a strange woman on the ground with straight black hair and tan skin. The group move back for a bit but when Madison turned to where the waterfall was, her eyes became wide in panic.
"Guys!" she spoke.
The two looked and gasped in horror to see a tribe of warriors coming straight towards them. Miguel quickly helps Madison up to get on Altivo and Tulio try to get the horse to move but it was too late. The warriors already got there and looked at the girl but as the saw the trio with a horse, their faces turn to shock. Madison got off of the horse in stood in front of her friends as the necklace was glowing. The warriors looked at her in shock as well as they looked at Tulio and Miguel, but they turned their heads to where the woman was as she was holding an item that was wrapped around in a cloth.
The woman threw the item towards Tulio but then he passes back to her. Madison along with the warriors looked at them as they kept on passing the item back and forth until Tulio stopped to look at the warriors.
"I've..." he started to speak until his head got hit by the item that the woman threw and continued to speak. "Uh, hello. Is this your rock? Sorry. We were just looking. We're, uh... We're tourists! Tourist. We... We lost our group. May we go now?"
Suddenly the warrior with a jaguar hood pointed at Tulio with a spear which caused him to flinch.
"Spears." he chuckled nervously until the warrior moves head as a signature to come.
Madison quickly got on the horse behind Miguel as the trio were being led by some of the warriors while the ones in behind were taking the woman.
The trio looked around as they were surrounded by the tribe. They don't know how to escape but as the looked at the leader, they were surprised to see him going through a waterfall. Once they all went in, they came to a small boat. Miguel and Tulio were sitting at one side while Madison, the woman, and Altivo were sitting at the other. Madison's heart was pounding as felt nervous or two scared as she felt the boat moving past the pillars.
The group looked around as the cave was really dark but with the torch around, they saw some stone sculptures of heads. But as Madison saw a light up ahead, she heard the torch going out and something caught her eye that was shiny. She looked down and saw the woman carried the item that was gold. The woman quickly wrapped it back up and looked at the boys. Madison looked straight as the light at the end was getting bright. Her eyes grew wide in shock along with Altivo while the guys' mouths were dropped.
"Oh, my..." Miguel softly spoke as he saw what the group was seeing, "It's... It's..."
"El Dorado." the trio spoke in unison as they believe what they saw.
It was, indeed, El Dorado. Madison felt chills all over her as she saw the beauty of the golden city. No words came out of her mouth as she was too speechless. She saw golden butterflies flying around and in the water were massive fish that no people from the outside world have ever seen. But when she saw people around, they were all staring at her, Miguel and Tulio. Madison knew that for this part that they think Miguel and Tulio are gods but don't know what they'll think of her.
As the boat was finally parked near a watery stair, the trio got off along with Altivo while the woman was behind. Madison started to feel uncomfortable of all the people were staring while Tulio and Miguel were on the horse. They started to move while the warriors kept the guard up as they stared at them along with the citizens of El Dorado. Madison wanted to try to smile but to her she would just be scaring the citizens even further. Her eyes caught sight of the warrior in the Jaguar going off in one direction, already knowing where he was going to see. And another warrior going off in another.
"They're just staring at us. Why?" Madison whispered to the men.
"I don't know." Miguel reply.
"I got a bad feeling about this. Well, it was nice working you partner." said Tulio as he spoke to Miguel and then turn to Madison, "And Maddie, it was honour to meet you."
"Come on Tulio, these citizens don't look dangerous." said Madison as she looked to see the the Acolyte and the warriors again, "Despite their weapons."
"But if this is how it ends, I'm glad to have met you, Maddie." said Miguel and then he spoke to Tulio, "And Tulio, I just want you to know, I'm sorry about that girl in Barcelona."
"So... You... You..." Tulio looked shocked and then glared at his partner.
"Behold! As the prophesies foretold, the time of judgement is now!"
Madison looked up and saw him. Tzekel-Kan. The mad and evil priest in El Dorado but beside him was the chief himself, Chief Tannabok.
"Citizens, did I not predict that the gods and the enchantress would come to us?" Tzekel-Kan spoke.
The trio looked around in confusion and then looked at each other.
"Is he talking about us? That we..." Madison whispered to her friends as they looked at the priest.
"I believe so." Miguel replied.
"My lords and lady, I am Tzekel-Kan, your devoted high priest and speaker to the gods." the priest introduced as he bows to them.
"Hey." Tulio spoke as he raised his hand as a hello along with Miguel and Madison.
The chief came down the stairs with the priest as he looked at the trio.
"I am Chief Tannabok. What names may we call you?"
The three looked at each other and decided to introduce themselves.
"I am Miguel."
"And I am Tulio."
"I am Madison."
The guys dismount only to have Miguel's foot getting tangled in Altivo's reins. But Miguel still kept on going despite of this.
"And they call us Miguel, Tulio and Madison."
Madison couldn't help but roll her eyes as she gave a tiny smirk. She helped him get untangled.
"Your arrival has been greatly anticipated." said Tzekel-Kan.
"My lords and lady, how long will you be staying in El Dorado?"
"Aha!"
Madison looked at Tzekel-Kan as he walked to the other side of Altivo. He grabbed the woman's arm as she was carrying the gold item in the other and dragged in front of the trio.
"I see you've captured this temple-robbing thief. How would you have us punish her?" the priest asked.
"Punish her?!" Madison looked at him and looked at the woman.
"Oh, no, no, no, no, no! My lord, I am not a thief." the woman spoke to the priest, "See, the gods and the enchantress sent me a vision to bring them tribute from the temple to guide them here. My only wish is to serve the enchantress and the gods."
The woman turns to the trio, giving them a look. Seeing this, Madison caught along.
"See, she said so herself, she's no thief. She brought us here due to a sign in a vision from us."
"Release her, don't ya think?" said Tulio.
Tzekel-Kan released the woman as he looked at her.
"Then you will begin by returning this to its rightful place." he said as he gave back the golden item to her.
Madison watched the woman as she was looking back. She was smiling and Madison smiled back to her.
"My lords and lady, why now do you choose to visit us?" the chief asked.
"Enough! You do not question... the gods!" Tzekel-Kan frown as he looked at the chief.
"That's right! Do not question us." Miguel spoke as he acted mighty, "or we shall have to unleash our awesome and terrible power! And you don't want that!"
Tulio and Madison looked at him with wide eyes as they couldn't believe what he just said.
"Well, yes! We do!" said Tzekel-Kan.
"You do?" Miguel asked.
"You do?" Madison questioned as she raised a confusing brow.
"Of course, we do! Visit your wrath upon this nonbeliever! Show us the truth of your divinity!"
"Our divinity?" Madison repeated to herself.
"Divinity!" Tulio spoke with a panic look, "One moment.
Tulio pulled Miguel and Madison around and the three walked away to talk in private.
"Miguel, you know that little voice people have that tells them to quit when they're ahead. You don't have one!" Tulio growled at his partner.
"Why would you say that, Miguel?" Madison whispered.
"Well, I'm sorry. I got carried away!" said Miguel.
"Way away!" said Tulio.
"Maybe we should tell the truth and beg for mercy."
"Are you nuts? We'd be butchered alive!"
"Yes, but they're getting suspicious."
"What about me? They think I'm some powerful enchantress?" Madison asked.
"Maybe due to the fact you have a magical necklace!" said Tulio.
"I'm pretty sure they want to see more than just a necklace." she whispered to him until she notices the volcano, "Uh, guys."
"Maddie has a point." Miguel spoke to Tulio, "And if we don't come up with some sort of mega-cosmic event..."
"Miguel…Tulio…" Madison spoke again as she tried to get their attention as the volcano starts rumbling, erupting.
"I'm trying! I'm trying! I can't think with all these distractions!" said Tulio.
"Guys I really think we should..."
"You... Horse... Think horse. Think, think, think." Miguel spoke as he hit Tulio's head couple of times.
"I'm on the verge of... STOP!"
As the Tulio's shouted echoed, Madison's necklace glowed bright, and the beams went straight towards the volcano. Smoke and ash started to go back in the mountain except a small cough of smoke came out. The trio looked at each other until Madison notice something.
"Guys, look." she whispered as she was looking at the citizens.
Tulio and Miguel turned to see everyone bowing down except Tzekel-Kan and the chief. Miguel and Tulio saw that all the citizens had bowed and soon they stuck their hands out. Madison shrugged and decided to join the men sticking her arm out and a hand on her hip. The three walked up to Tzekel-Kan and the Chief with their hands still out. Miguel looked at the Acolyte as he was getting up with his spear in his hand.
"Don't make me start it up again, 'cause I will." he said, and the Acolyte bow down again.
As the three finally approach to Tzekel-Khan, the high priest bowed to them but looked at the chief smirked on his face as the chief decided to bow down.
"Oh, mighty lords! Come. Let me show you to your temple." the priest spoke.
"All right! Temple." Miguel spoke as he looked at his friends.
Tzekel-Kan turned until he was faced by the chief.
"Step aside." he said and the chief move to let the priest and the trio past.
Madison looked to the Chief as he turned to his people and back to the group. However, Madison had her eyes on the many stairs and already can feel exhausted just by looking at them.
'Stairs, why did these buildings have a lot of stairs? Oh, this is gonna be a workout.' she thought and start going up.
All five began to walk up the stairs, after a few minutes Tzekel-Kan and the Chief had made it up with ease while Miguel, Tulio and Madison had to climb themselves up. The three had to rest to catch their breath. As the priest and chief turned back to the three, Miguel and Tulio straighten themselves and acted almighty. Madison just stood still trying to catch her breath and turned to Altivo who looked exhausted from climbing the stairs.
"Yeah, I'm exhausted too boy." said Madison as she helped the horse.
Tzekel-Kan and the chief pulled the drape open as they let the trio and Altivo in. Madison looked at the inside of the temple as she saw how big but amazing the decor were.
"To commemorate your arrival, I propose a reverent ceremony at dawn." the priest spoke to the three until the chief spoke up.
"Ah, then perhaps I could prepare a glorious feast for you tonight."
"Which would you prefer?"
The trio looked at each other for a moment on the decision.
"Both?" Tulio asked.
"Both." Miguel answered.
"Both."
"Both is good." said Miguel.
"I guess our decision is we do both ceremonies." said Madison.
"My lords." said the chief as he bowed.
"My lords." Tzekel-Kan bowed.
Madison watched the curtains being closed and turned to the men all concern. She already knew that Tzekel-Kan's ceremony at dawn wouldn't be a pleasant one, as much as she wanted to tell the con men about it, she knew that they would see for their own eyes eventually and so she had to go along.
While the con men looked around, they were amazed how big it was and the decor definitely fit for the gods.
"Hey!"
"Hey. Hey."
The two burst out in laughter as Altivo joined the men. Madison just smiled at the two until she was pulled by Miguel to join them.
"Tulio. Tulio. They actually think we're gods. And Maddie being an enchantress." said Miguel.
"Well, my necklace did help a tiny bit. But I really don't see myself as an enchantress." said Madison.
"Doesn't matter Maddie! It's an entire city of suckers." said Tulio.
Madison walked over to Altivo and the two stopped as they saw a familiar face. It was the same woman from before.
"Um guys!" Madison tried to speak but the men didn't listen.
Altivo helped Madison trying to get the men to stop but they were completely ignored.
"We just have to keep this up long enough, to load up on the gold and the get the heck out of here!"
"Guys if you look..."
"Tulio, we'll be living like kings! And you Maddie being like a queen!" said Miguel.
"Why do I feel like I'm invisible to you two?" Madison muttered as she looked at them.
"Miguel, Tulio and Madison!"
"Madison, Tulio and Miguel!"
"Mighty powerful enchantress and gods." the men spoke as they were being mighty until...
"Hello." a voice spoke.
Both men yelped and jumped back turning around to see the woman from before. She laughed at the sight of them.
"Yeah, that was what I was trying to get your attention for." said Madison but chuckled to see their reaction.
"Depart, mortal, before we strike you with a lightning bolt." Tulio acted but the woman just stood her position and hummed as she was cleaning the gold item.
"Beware the wrath of the gods! Begone!" said Miguel.
"It's not going to work guys." said Madison.
"Save it for the high priest, honey. You're gonna need it." the woman spoke.
Tulio turns to Miguel seeing him making some sort of clicking sound and hand gestures.
"Miguel, it's not working." he said to his partner, but Miguel continued the clicking sounds, "Miguel! We've been caught."
"Oh, no. Don't worry about me, boys. "My only wish is to serve the enchantress and the gods." Remember?" said the woman.
"How?"
"Well, if you guys want the gold, then you don't want to get caught, right? You're going to need my help?"
"What makes you think we need your help?" Miguel scoffed as he looked at her.
"Ck-ck." Are you serious?" the woman asked as she was imitating Miguel.
"She's got you there!" Madison laughed as Altivo joins her, "And I'm gonna assume you know about my necklace?"
"Pretty much. But I can keep a secret, all your secrets." the woman answered as she winks at her.
Madison turned to face the guys as their faces were stunned.
"Okay, now that our secret is out, she wants something from us." she said.
"I... What... We... Okay. So, uh, who are you?" Miguel questioned.
"Yeah, uh, what's your angle?" Tulio asked.
"No angle." the woman answered as she looked at Tulio, "I want in."
"In?"
"On the scam."
Tulio chuckled.
"There's no scam! Why would you think there's a...? Why?" he questioned.
"So, I can get out."
"I thought she just said she wanted in?" Miguel questioned as he was confused.
"She wants in so she can get out." said Tulio as he looked at the woman.
"Ah! Got it." Miguel spoke as he understands it but still confused, "Why?"
"Think you're the only ones who dream of better things? Of adventure? You've got your reasons, and I've got mine. Let's not make it personal, okay? It's just business."
"Oh." the boys spoke.
"She's got a point. I mean think of how we first bumped into her and why she was on the run." said Madison as the woman got closer to them.
"So, when you guys are ready to go back to... wherever you came from, I'm going with you." she said as she had her arms on the guys' shoulders.
Madison and Miguel nod but Tulio laughed.
"No! Don't think so." the black hair denied as he removed her hand off his shoulder.
"All right. Fine." the woman spoke and walked away, "After all, I'm sure you know the proper rituals for blessing a tribute, the holiest days on the calendar... Oh, and of course you know all about Xibalba." she said as she playfully pinched Tulio's cheek, "Okay? Good luck."
Tulio rubbed his cheek from the pinch as the woman slowly walked away.
"See you at the execution." she spoke to them.
All three looked at her but Madison and Miguel were worried on the execution, and both know they don't want to die.
"Wait! Ho... Would you...? Hold it." Tulio spoke up as he stopped the woman.
She turned around just to look at him while Tulio smirked at her. She smiled as she sticks her hand out.
"Deal?" she asked.
"Deal." Miguel spoke as he was about to shake her hand until Tulio stopped him.
"Not yet. Let's just see how this works out." he said as he playfully touched the woman's cheek, but she moved away.
"Uh-huh. Well, then I suppose that means you'll want these back?"
The woman raised her hand and reveals the loaded dice that was from Tulio. The black hair checked his vest as it wasn't there and looked surprise.
"How'd you get those?" Tulio asked as he grabbed the dice from her hand.
"Where was she keeping them?" Miguel questioned.
"I don't wanna answer that." Madison spoked as she eyed him but then turn to face the woman, "Well, since you can keep our secret and we're gonna be working with each other, might as well introduce ourselves properly. I'm Madison, but you can call me Maddie. And these two 'mighty powerful gods' are Miguel and Tulio."
"Call me Chel, your new partner." the woman spoke as she walked past them.
"Uh, that's partner-in-training." Tulio corrected her.
Madison watched Chel grabbed a few things and threw two cloths at the guys. Chel quickly came back as she brought Madison a gown and placed a headdress on Tulio's head.
"Now, put these on. Your public's waiting." she spoke.
Madison's cheeks started to redden as she knew about this part and dashed off to find some place to change. She looked at the gown she was given, admiring the clothing before her. As she was taking her shoes off, she can hear Tulio speaking to Chel.
"Do you mind?"
"No." Chel answered as she was sitting to watch until she realized, "Oh! Oh! Oh! Excuse me!" she giggled as she got up and went to the curtain. "Bye."
As the curtain was closed, Madison just smiled a little and shook her head. She then quickly got dressed in her gown and looked down seeing it more beautiful on herself.
"Maddie, you know you can come out." Miguel spoke from the distance.
"I'm okay at the moment, I mean... I'm just given you two some privacy to change first." she answered but hear the men's conversation.
Tulio already took his pants off but was looking at the curtain to where Chel excited and smiled while Miguel, who was now already dressed, smirking at his partner.
"Mm-mm-mmm! Maybe they should call this place "Chel Dorado."" he said as he nudges his partner.
"She's whoo-" Tulio chuckled until the realization snapped, "Whoa, she's trouble! Wait a minute!"
"What?"
"The little voice. Remember the little voice? Ju-Ju-Just for a second imagine that you have one. What would it be saying about Chel?" Tulio asked.
Madison listened but tried not to laugh as she heard Miguel's growl.
"No. No. Listen." Tulio spoke to Miguel, "We are partners."
"We are partners." Miguel repeated.
"We have a plan, remember?"
"Get the gold. Go back to Spain."
"Yes! And we are pretending to be gods and Maddie being the enchantress. Now, put Chel in the mix. What is the voice saying? Listen carefully."
Madison smirked as she put the jewelry on her as she knew what the little voice was telling Miguel.
"Chel is off-limits?" Miguel guessed.
"Bravo! Chel is off-limits! Shake on it." Tulio smiled and the two did their handshake.
Madison just smiled and rolled her eyes as she placed the golden headband on her head. She looked at her reflection and smiled, she couldn't help but feel like a real enchantress.
"You boys dressed?" she spoke up as she was waiting.
"We are." Miguel answered.
Madison took a deep breath and slowly walked back. The boys looked jaw-drop while Madison was blushing as she showed herself.
"We'll boys, what do you think?" she asked.
"Like... like an actual enchantress." Miguel answered.
"Thanks." she blushed and looked at her reflection again, "You guys really think we can pull this off?"
"It'll be fine." Miguel replies as he placed the headdress on his head, "Besides, we're supposed to be gods and you the enchantress. We must avoid giving in to temptation."
"Gods." Tulio spoke as he was trying to put his headdress on, but his robe came undone, making Madison turn away quickly, "This is gonna be tougher than I thought." he said as he fixed his clothes.
"Tulio, relax! All you have to do is smile, act godly and follow my lead."
As all three exit the temple, Madison felt nervous but stood straight while Tulio looked panicked and Miguel smile. And when the music starts playing from below, Madison listened to the guys singing.
Tulio: I hardly think I'm qualified
To come across all sanctified
I just don't cut it with the cherubim
Miguel: (spoken) Tulio, what are you talking about?
(singing) There again they're on their knees
Being worshipped is a breeze
Which rather suits us in the interim
Tulio: Interim, interim It's me and him
Oh my God!
Both: It's tough to be a god
Tulio: Tread where mortals have not trod
Be deified when really you're a sham
Be an object of devotion
Be the subject of psalms
Miguel: It's a rather touching notion
All those prayers and those salaams
Tulio: And who am I to bridle if I'm forced to be an idol?
If they say that I'm a god that's what I am!
What's more, if we don't comply with the locals' wishes
I can see us being sacrificed or stuffed
Miguel: You have a point, that's very good thinking
So let's be gods, the perks are great!
Tulio: Yeah!
Miguel: El Dorado on a plate
Tulio: Thank you
Miguel: Local feelings should not be rebuffed
Tulio: Never rebuffed
A-never rebuff a local feeling, no, my friend!
Both: It's tough to be a god
But if you get the peoples' nod
Count your blessings
Yeah!
Keep 'em sweet
That's our advice
Tulio: It's great advice!
Both: Be a symbol of perfection
Be a legend, be a cult
Take their praise, take the collection
As the multitudes exalt
Miguel: Don a supernatural habit
Tulio: We'd be crazy not to grab it!
Miguel: You got it!
Both: So, sign up two new gods for paradise
Paradise!
Madison was really enjoying the feast and the dance. The food was great but also avoiding the whine. But when her eyes started to feel heavy, turns out that the night of sleep was taking over, and Madison has already fallen asleep as the music kept on going.
