Chapter 63: Sig & Yoko: Bad Ears & Red Hand by huskynator/kirbymanx
It was another bonding day between Yoko and Peruvis (with Panotty watching them (with Yoko moderating Panotty and Peruvis' antagonism)) at Primp High on Friday.
As long as Yoko needs her ears fixed, teaching her music is pointless.
They've basically all somehow agreed this is just tolerance training for Peruvis at this point (Peruvis did not like that wording). It'll make actually teaching her easier whenever she has her ears fixed.
"Uh, Perry… What kinda guitar is this song playing?" Yoko reached out her arm with her phone over the table in the hangout room. But Peruvis without blinking gently pushed Yoko's phone back.
"You won't be able to recognize it in a week, chicken wings, telling you now would be pointless." Peruvis said while checking her phone with thinning patience. She'd rather be with Marvett right now, who she's texting.
Yoko put away her phone in disappointment. Peruvis isn't wrong, she wasn't even rude. But it did hurt.
Panotty who sat next to her gave her a quick hug. Yoko leaned in with a smile. That's suddenly when her phone rumbled.
"That's probably Sig." Peruvis said, confusing her angel and elf table mates. The devil pointed at her phone. "Marvett told me."
"Oh." Yoko reacted.
Sig: Hey, Yoko. Wanna hang out?
"Sig's asking to hang out with us." Yoko relayed to Peruvis. Panotty was already looking at the screen.
Sig: Just us two?
"I mean just me. Oh." Yoko just realized what she just said.
"I won't stop you." The Devil said. "I'll go to Marv if he gets here though."
"I guess I'll go to Jaan…" Panotty grumbled.
Sig: Where are you?
Yoko started texting back.
"Oh, there you are." Sig spooked the jeebies out of Peruvis popping up behind her back.
"Don't ever do that again."
Sig scratched his head. "Sorry, Pelvis."
"It's Peruvis." The purple-haired girl got up to leave. "And you know that…"
Panotty snickered as he started whispering into Yoko's ear. "5 credits says she doesn't yell at him because she thinks Sig's hot."
Yoko giggled. She pulled 5 credits how her jacket. Panotty pushed it back. "Keep it."
"No, you keep it 'Notty~"
"For [mumble]'s sake. Are you two betting on me again!?" Their devil friend(?) felt targeted.
"No."
"I just wanna give 'Notty some money. He never takes any whenever he asks."
"Whatever. I'm done. See you later, harpy and dwarf… S-Sorry about the harpy, chicken wings." Peruvis apologized. She didn't need to see Yoko's winch or Panotty and Sig's glare to know she screwed up. "This doesn't mean much to someone swimming in money like you but have 5 credits." She awkwardly left.
Yoko sighed. Solemnly slid her 5 and Peruvis' 5 to Panotty. He took it, not the time to argue right now.
The elf gave the angel a hug and she returned it. "See you after school, 'Notty." They patted each other's back. Yoko gave him a muzzle too before she let him go.
Panotty did an all too familiar "I'm watching you" motion to Sig by now. Sig held his standard inexpressive face as he gave a little hi motion to the elf hopping off.
Sig took place on the opposite end of the table. "Wait." Or so he tried. "Can you sit next to me?" Yoko asked scooting over. Sig stood there worrying Yoko as he awaited elaboration from her. But when that didn't come he sat down with her.
"Sure."
"...So… what do you wanna talk about?"
"I… uh… didn't think that far…" The cyan-haired boy admitted. "I just wanted to check how you're doing and hang out. I guess."
"How sweet." Yoko's honestly replied.
"And I kinda had to ask Panotty away because… I don't think he likes me."
"Don't be silly, he likes you." That made Sig think twice. But his stance stayed the same.
"Just like he likes Perry, he just shows it weirdly." Sig knows that isn't true from overhearing Peruvis' rants in class and from Marvett. He hoped Yoko would wisen up with her judgments.
"If you say so." Because he didn't have the heart to correct her. "I heard your magic hearing surgery is coming closer."
"Y-Yeah…"
Sig wanted to ask if she was scared. But realized that be a dumb question, felt guilty bringing it up in the first place.
"Will I hurt myself with my own voice? Will I even recognize my friends when it's done?"
"Wanna hang out again to get your mind off of it?"
"Isn't what we're doing right now?"
"I mean, outside of school."
"Oh!"
"Someplace you wanna go?"
"Not a concert, at least… Makes sense I never got into the music…" Yoko's eyes lit up. "Can we go to the zoo to watch birdies? I have a year pass!"
"Sounds fun. Can we watch the bugs too?"
"I don't see why not. They have a ton of animals~"
Sig smiled. He unscrewed up her buzz and found something they were both interested in. Not bad for someone with no plan.
He'd still like to find more in common with Yoko though, maybe when she opens up after her surgery?
