"Community service what fun," Pete moaned as he, Clark, Lana, and Angela made their way into the retirement center.
"It's only 30 hours worth Pete and its not even all at once don't complain about losing a bit of time each day they chose for us,"
"Ya okay good point Angela," Pete agreed with Angela's statement as they each looked for the person they were to speak with.
Clark and Angela had been paired up to spend time with a elderly lady named Cassandra Carver. Lana had been paired up to spend time with a gentleman named Harry Bolston.
"Good day Miss Carver, my name is Angela Kent this is my brother Clark and our friends and volunteers for some of the others here,"
"Nice to meet you Miss and Mr Kent," Cassandra greeted them as Clark sat on the seat next to her as Angela remained standing.
"Which of you young guests are here to read to me,"
"Clark and I Miss Carver," Angela replied.
"Is it true you can see the future," Pete suddenly asked.
"Pete!,"
"It is true young man,"
"Can you read mine?,"
"God Pete seriously," Angela shook her head in disbelief.
Smiling Cassandra without them knowing it was on purpose drops her book asking for Pete to hand it back to her. As he does she touches his hand.
"Check your pockets," doing as she says Pete curses as he realizes he forgot his keys in the car.
Leaving Clark and Angela with Cassandra Pete made his way out to try and get his keys.
"Impressive Miss Carver," Angela compliments her as she grabs a chair and sits across from Clark.
"Give me your hand," Cassandra says to Angela first and doing as she says she waits to know what is discovered about her.
"The man your with will break your heart, no good will come from being with him,"
"Lex will hurt me?," Angela sat back in shock as Clark went next.
"Someone you both love will die very soon," Cassandra said as she released Clark's hand.
Noticing their time was almost up Clark took the book from Miss Carver and began to read.
Lana and Harry
"Hi Mr Bolston my name is Lana Lang I'm your volunteer for the day,"
"Nice to meet you Miss Lang, I know about the Lang's how they came to Smallville in 1938,"
"Oh is that so,"
"Yes you see i'm a bit of a history buff I love learning about the history of Smallville,"
"Always good to have a hobby," Lana smiled as she stayed standing in front of Harry Bolston.
"Do you mind Miss Lang joining me for a stroll,"
"Of course I don't mind," Lana replied moving behind his wheelchair taking her time rolling him outside and around the grounds.
Stopping at the Koi pond Harry took the chance to try and sneak a smoke.
"Do you mind fetching me a scarf Miss Lang you can leave me here it is quite peaceful at this spot,"
"Alright i will be right back," Lana said heading back quickly as possible to fetch the scarf for Harry.
Making sure she was out of sight Harry slipped his cigs out of his pocket and his lighter and after placing one between his lips he lifted the lighter to go to light it and cursed as he dropped it.
Bending down Harry tried determinedly to get the lighter not realize how close he was to falling until he suddenly tumbled out of the wheelchair, through the lights, and ending up in the koi pond below.
Stunned for several seconds Harry finally sits up in shock as he took a look down at his body. Laughing manically Harry stood and with a evil smirk on his lips took off for his paper work in his room now that he was young again thanks to the meteor rocks in the pond vengeance would be his.
The Beanery
Harry sat at a table smiling as his first victim was his waitress happily knowing the first one would be easy.
"I just can't believe he went missing like that," Lana said as she, Chloe, Clark, and Angela entered the beanery and sat down at a booth.
"I'm sure he will show up Lana it wasn't your fault that he went missing," Angela tried to comfort Lana knowing she blamed herself.
"I hope so that they find Mr Bolston," Lana sighed as Zoe their usual waitress arrived at the table with a tray full of their regular drinks.
Standing up Harry turned to make his way out stopping briefly by the booth.
"I heard about Mr Bolston I wish you all the luck on finding him," Harry said before leaving.
Luthor Mansion
Couple Hours Later
Angela sat curled up beside Lex on the couch after having told him about Miss Carver's vision.
"You know I will never hurt you love,"
"I know Lex it just shook me up,"
"Understandable that would shake anyone up," Lex replied as the doors to the study opened revealing Clark.
"Your order is all loaded and taken care of Lex,"
"Thank you Clark,"
"Did Angela tell you about our experience with Miss Carver today,"
"Yes about hers, did you have one as well?,"
"Yes according to her someone we love will die soon,"
"Faith has a funny way of changing Clark you don't know if that will be true,"
"Your right Lex thanks,"
"Your welcome Clark," Lex replied as he handed Clark a check for the produce over his shoulder.
"You two have a good evening,"
"You too Clark,"
"See you in the morning bro, love you,"
"Love you too sis," Clark answered as he made his way home.
"You want to go to bed?," Lex asked Angela.
Nodding Angela and Lex made their way upstairs to their bedroom. After changing into their night clothes Lex laid down just holding Angela knowing she needed comfort that night after what she had been told.
The Next Day
The next day Angela and Clark met up with Lana at the retirement home.
"Hey guys,"
"Hey Lana how you doing about this Harry Bolston situation,"
"Good I gave my statement to the police and found out his name isn't Harry Bolston, it's Harry Volk. He was convicted sixty years ago of murder in 1940 at the age of 17. He was studying to be a pianist but his teacher chose someone else to send to the scholarship for the music conservatory in metropolis and so in retaliation he murdered his teacher's son,"
"That's so morbid,"
"Tell me about it I was taking care of a murderer it was hard not to feel worried,"
"Understandable," Angela replied continuing to speak to Lana as Clark made his way to speak to Cassandra.
"When did you begin having visions Miss Carver?,"
"Began the day of the meteor shower,"
"So your one of the affected I have met many affected from that meteor shower,"
"Give me your hand Clark," Cassandra said willing to use her gift to give him more insight to his future.
As Clark did so he was startled to find himself kneeling in a graveyard in the rain surrounded by headstones with the names of his love ones, his friends, and many others.
Terrified Clark takes off Angela running after him.
"Death its all I saw sis, headstones bearing everyone's names,"
"Come on Clark let's get you home," Angela said as she coaxed Clark into the Audi to drive him home.
Luthor Mansion
"Stupid woman," Angela cursed Cassandra Carver as she stomped her way into the mansion and into the study heading for the bar.
"Freeze," came Lex's voice from the balcony above.
"Don't stop me Lex I need a drink after today,"
"What has you so upset?," Lex asked leaning on the balcony looking down at his girlfriend.
"Clark and i had to go back to see Cassandra Carver, she saw his future again and somehow showed it to him poor Clark all he saw was headstones in a graveyard bearing the names of everyone in this town,"
"Seriously," Lex shook his head in disbelief.
"Yes seriously," Angela replied flopping down on the couch avoiding the bar not wanting a drink anymore.
Lex joined her a few minutes later pulling her close.
"Yours and Clark's futures are yours to do with as you will you make your own choices the future is never certain,"
"I know love but it still freaked Clark out enough to make him close up after it til I took him home,"
"I know Angel, go to school tomorrow and be there for him and your friends I will go speak to her,"
"Thank you Lex," Angela replied kissing Lex before curling up against his chest.
The Next Day
While Angela and Clark were in school Lex was determined to have a conversation with this Miss Carver about the things she was telling his family. Yes by now he considered Clark his brother and Angela was his girlfriend it was bound to happen.
Making his way down to where she was sitting outside he sat down across from her.
"Hello Miss Carver, my name is Lex Luthor. recently you have given words of warning to my girlfriend and my brother the Kent's, I don't appreciate you freaking them out especially my girlfriend i would die before I ever hurt her,"
"It may not be intentional or of your own free will but you will hurt her Mr Luthor it is what the fates has planned for you both,"
"Futures are never certain we make our own destiny's,"
"Yes we do," Cassandra said as she grabbed her hand only to yank it back in shock at what she seen in his future.
"Good day Mr Luthor,"
"Good day Miss Carver keep your warnings to yourself," Lex said coldly as he left the retirement home.
The Kent Barn
"Hey did you guys hear about Jim Gage?," Pete asked as he flopped down on Clark's couch beside Chloe.
"No what?,"
"He was found blindfolded and strangled by piano wire,"
"That's odd that's the same way Harry Volts victim was killed sixty years ago,"
"Could it be a copy cat?," Clark asked.
"I don't think so this is Harry Volt from the 1940's," Chloe said handing Clark the picture she had.
"That looks like the guy from the beanery,"
"Exactly. I think Harry Volt traveled through time,"
"Let's not jump to conclusions let's go investigate his room," Clark replied as they all agree to go.
The Retirement Home
Clark, Chloe, Angela, and Pete made their way through the retirement home and were almost to Harry Volts room when Cassandra stopped Clark.
"You're on your own Clark," Angela said coldly leaving with Chloe and Pete to start the room.
"I know you're not like everyone else Mr Kent, I have seen you many times in many other people futures saving people in their time of need," as Cassandra said that she took Clark's hand in hers and showed him all that she could of him saving people but sadly unable to tell him anyone's names or anything about them.
Nodding Clark makes his way into Harry Volts bedroom and joins Chloe, Pete, and his sister.
"Look at this so many news paper clippings,"
"It's like a collection," Clark said when he suddenly recognizes one of the women in one of the articles and knew where Harry was headed next.
"I know this lady I think I know where Harry will hit next I will meet you guys later," Clark said as he takes off to go to the Beanery.
The Beanery
Zoe began getting ready to close when she noticed a gentleman still in the shop.
"Sir it's closing time you have to leave,"
"If you don't mind do you mind if I play the piano while you clean up to close," contemplating things Zoe finally nods and allows him to play the piano while she cleaned up.
"I knew your grandmother, Eve Garfield ruined my life and now i'm going to ruin yours," Harry said as he attacked Zoe.
Suddenly Clark arrives tackling Harry off of Zoe. As he begins fighting Harry neither of them notice Zoe yank her cell phone from her pocket and call the cops.
After the cops arrive and take Harry into custody, and the EMT's take Zoe in to the hospital to be checked Clark made his way home.
The Next Day
Clark knew his parents said to stay away but going against their wishes he kept his word and met Lana at the koi pond the same one that Harry Volt ended up in.
"So supposedly Harry showed up in the hospital told police that a kid obsessed with his case kidnapped him,"
"If he did that then how did he end up handcuffed in the hospital to the same bed they put the young man in?," Clark asked as he tried to not show he was beginning to not feel well.
Looking down Clark noticed that the koi pond was filled with meteor rocks and finally figured out how Harry Volt did all he did between fooling the police and de-aging himself.
"At least he is found," Clark tells Lana as he begins to move making it seem like he was getting ready to leave.
"True, I will see you at school tomorrow,"
"Yup see you tomorrow Lana," Clark said as he headed off the bridge making his way to the truck from the farm to go to the hospital to see Harry Volt.
The Hospital
"I know the truth about you,"
"Do you now?," Harry asked as he gave Clark a questioning glare.
"Meteor rocks, its how you were de-aged and how re-aged,"
"I will neither agree nor disagree to that statement, but i am curious about your name Mr Kent," Harry said sinisterly.
"Now leave," Harry said as he called for the nurse to make Clark leave.
The School Torch Office
"I say he is going after the jurors and their relatives from his trial,"
"Would make sense," said Pete as they scanned the papers for the names of all the people involved.
"Hey guys um odd news Harry is gone again," as Lana said that Pete and Chloe gave each other a uh oh look and scanned faster.
"Here, oh no Hiram Kent, he is going to go after Clark and Angela or their parents,"
"We have to warn them," Chloe said picking up the phone quickly.
Luthor Mansion
Angela sat at the computer Lex had set up for her beside his in the study working on her homework when the phone began to ring.
"Hello,"
"Angela it's Chloe get home quick we found out Harry is going to go after the Kent's next,"
"Thanks Chloe," Angela said as she threw the phone back on it's base and ran using her power super speeding across the field.
Kent Farm
"Hello can I help you," Martha said as she opened the door unsuspectingly to a young again Harry Volt.
"Yes you can I'm the gas man, had a report about gas being smelt on your farm,"
"There's no gas," Martha replied realizing the man was lying.
Closing the door Martha picked up the phone intending to call Clark or Angela only to find out it had been disconnected.
"It won't work I cut the wire," turning around Martha realized Harry had entered the house and knew he was a man to be feared.
Grabbing the closer thing she could with all her might she hit him up side the head with it. Running outside intending to drive away she cursed as she saw her tires slashed. Looking around for a safe place to hide she spots the grain silo and runs to it entering it hoping he wouldn't find her in it.
Unfortunately Harry found her knowing she was trapped he attacked her with his knife but luckily she got out of the way and reaching up Martha pulled the lever releasing the grain filling the silo burying them both.
Outside Angela arrived growing worried by the minute she notices the flat tires, the door wide open and the object on the floor that her mom had dropped. Going back outside Angela looked around for any clues and realizing what she needed to do began to focus using her x-ray power for the first time to try and find her mom.
Seeing the people in the silo Angela began running to it as her dad and brother showed up and waved them over to help. Yanking open the door Angela dug through the grain digging her mom out, before realizing she wasn't breathing.
Beginning CPR Angela and Jonathon revived Martha as Clark dug out Harry Volt and restrained him.
Retirement Home
Entering the home again Lex seeked out Cassandra.
"Hello again Miss Carver,"
"Mr Luthor what can I do for you,"
"I want to know my future,"
"Thought you didn't believe in it,"
"We all have to have faith in something and if its bad I know I can change my future,"
"Very well," taking his hand Cassandra sat frozen as she began to see Lex's future.
Seeing him in a pure white suit, wearing only one black glove sitting in the oval office of the white house. Then the scene shifted. The new scene showed Lex standing in a field of sunflowers, as he leans down to smell one they all begin to die. Suddenly he was surrounded by human bones and he spreads out his arms as it begins to rain blood.
"Well Miss Carver?," Lex asked.
When she didn't reply Lex shook her shoulder but stood by quickly as he realizes she had died.
"Hey help Miss Carver needs help in here," Lex called out to the nurses to help her.
Turning Lex leaves as the nurses surround Cassandra missing bumping into Clark by just moments.
Luthor Mansion
Angela laid on the couch in front of the fire with a pillow over her eyes trying to deal with a headache from using her gifts more today then she ever had. Her ears peaked as she heard the study door open and Lex's expensive shoes clicking over the wood floor.
"Oh god that sound," Angela moaned as she covered her ears.
"Angel?," Lex was surprised she was home already.
"Yes, and I have the worst migraine and have had a bad day,"
"We both have, tell me about yours first love," Lex replied as he sat on the end of the couch behind Angela's head smiling as she shifted moving her head onto his lap.
"Had to rescue my mom today, we found out Harry Bolston was Harry Volt who was de-aged today by meteor rocks was going after each member or their relatives from his trial. So he tried to murder the waitress at the beanery, killed Jim Gage, and tried to kill my mom today,"
"Is Martha okay?,"
"Yes thankfully me, Clark, and dad got there in time to save her,"
"I'm happy you were able to stop such a vile man Angel," Lex said as he started stroking his fingers through her hair.
"What about you Lex what happened to you today?,"
"Went to see Miss Carver, went twice, first time i told her that I didn't appreciate her scaring you and Clark with all this talk of future stuff, second time I went back I asked for my future and told her if it was bad I would change it,"
"So what she see?,"
"I don't know, she died as she was looking,"
"Sad to hear," Angela replied as she snuggled close to Lex.
"Want to go to bed Angel?,"
"Yes love I think we should it's been a long day," standing up Lex took Angela by the hand and they made their way upstairs. Getting into bed Angela knew Lex would never hurt her no matter what. Little did she know she would be wrong about that in time.
