Kates POV
I stepped outside of my car and walked into my house. Again I left the door unlocked for when Lilly came home. My parents were home watching TV on the couch like usual. I feel like I had to tell someone the great news. The news that I had finally achieved my goal after all this time. Granted it wasn't that long but it felt like it and that was enough. I stepped into the living room and greeted my parents.
"Hey honey, where have you been?" Mom asked me.
"To the boardwalk, I went there with a bunch of my friends…" my ears flattened as I looked away from my mom and started rubbing my arm. I wanted to tell her I just didn't know how.
"Honey what is it?" she asked. My Dad turned to me and waited for an answer. I wasn't ready to tell him yet. I feel like he would be too overprotective about the whole thing.
"Mom? Can I talk to you about something?" I asked.
"Of course sweetie, of course" she said as she stood up and started walking into the next room. We walked to the stairs when she stopped to turn to me. I didn't want to tell her here though. I motioned with my head to go up the stairs. Mom nodded once and made her way up. I followed until we got to my bedroom. I sat down at the foot of it and mom sat next to me. "What is it? You know you can tell me anything" she reminded. I took a deep breath before turning to her with a small smile.
"I did it," I said.
"Did… what?" she asked. She looked more confused than anything now.
"I… kissed… Rick" I said nervously. I knew my mom loved Rick, but I still didnt know how she was going to react. Well it looks like i was wrong to think what i was thinking. Instead of getting mad and threatening to kill him like my other boyfriends she clapped and squealed with joy. I sat and watched in shock as she did it.
'I'm so happy for you sweetie, oh he'll make such a good addition to our family, now he's officially a part of it" she exclaimed. She looked up at the ceiling and exhaled happily. "I'm so glad you and him are finally together" she breathed. I giggled as I thought about the future.
Me and mom sat in silence as we thought about the same thing. Finally I spoke up asking her a question.
"Hey mom? What do you think of Humphrey?" I asked. I wanted to know because as long as he and Lilly are together, he's part of the family too, it doest help that there was a chance we could have been together too.
"He's a nice boy, I like him. He and I just… don't have the history like me and Rick's family" she explained. I nodded slowly as I looked down at the floor. I then looked back up to her. I wanted to tell someone about this as well.
"Do you know Humphrey had feelings for me before Lilly?" I confessed. My mom's smile dropped. It looked as though she was in a state of disbelief.
"He… liked you?" she asked. I nodded again.
"Did you like him?" she proceeded. Again I nodded. She looked away from me for a moment before turning back. "What about now?" she asked. I was hesitant, but eventually I nodded nervously. Mom sighed. "Who would you choose then?" she asked. She most likely wanted to know if I had plans, but the truth was…
"I love Rick," I answered. Mom closed her eyes and breathed a sigh of relief. She stood up and took my hand, helping me to my feet. She pulled me into a hug and patted my back.
"I'm happy for you," she said. And with that, she left my room without another word. Did I just ruin the moment with that? I hope not. The truth was that I did have feelings for Humphrey, but even if I could switch the two, I wouldn't so Lilly has nothing to worry about. I had Rick now and our whole relationship to look forward to.
I walked to the bathroom and turned the shower on before undressing and tossing my clothes into the hamper. I stepped in, washed myself and turned the water off before stepping out to dry off. I then wrapped a towel around myself and headed out. As I walked out of the bathroom Lilly passed me to go inside.
"About time" she joked before shutting the bathroom door. I heard the shower start back up as Lilly prepared for her shower. I then walked over to my bed and dropped the towel. I'll hang it up tomorrow morning when I take my morning shower, I wasn't waiting for Lilly to be done. And to be honest, I didn't really feel like putting on panties either, or a loose T-shirt. So I crawled into bed naked before going on my phone. 10:32 the clock read. I don't know how it got so late. I looked at my messages from Lilly to see if she sent me the picture we took that night. She did, I studied every detail feeling warm inside as I did so. I loved everyone in this photo so much. I saved it to my camera roll before going to Rick's messages. He was quick to respond.
K. i really had fun tonight, thanks for such a memorable night.
R. Thank you for being you, I can't wait to make you happy.
I smiled at the text before typing my response.
K. How about we go on our first date? I'm really eager to spend time with you now that we're a thing.
R. im never gonna hear the end of this at school…
K. that a bad thing?
R. hell no
K. you tell Angel?
R. hell no
I laughed at his repetition. I had a way of doing it that just had humor.
R. you tell Lilly?
K. no i told my mom
R, is she on her way?
K. she's actually really excited. She loves you Rick, she considers you family even more now.
R, i don't know what to say.
K. say nothing, just promise me you'll stop doubting yourself
R. i promise
K. Okay, will I see you tomorrow morning?
R. yeah, i'll see ya
K. Okay see you then. I love you
R. I love you too Kate, sweet dreams.

I turned my phone off before turning over and going to sleep. I couldn't wait to start what felt like the next chapter in my life. I still couldn't believe we finally kissed, we'll have to french soon. Maybe that can be my next goal. Tomorrow maybe? Well see. I don't know, I think I'm too horny as of late. Ever since I started developing feelings for Rick I've felt this way. I would finger myself nightly but haven't done so since mom caught me. I've been too scared of getting caught again, but it was building up, on the other hand though I was distracted by the thoughts of my future with Rick. I couldn't wait to start it. I just couldnt help but want to have sex with him, im not gonna make a move like that for awhile though, i dont want to fuck this up. But that urge… it's definitely there. Like Mom said though, my body is just trying to find a way to express the love that I feel. Maybe it wouldn't be so long, but I'll try and hold out. I really don't want to scare him off. Me and him will talk date locations tomorrow, in the meantime, I have to get some sleep.
When my alarm went off, I didn't feel tired. I felt joy. I was going to start my first day with a boyfriend. A proper one that I actually cared about. I hit the stop button on my phone and sat up in bed. I then stepped out of it and picked up the towel from last night. I wrapped it around myself and opened the door a crack and checked left to right to see if anyone was in the hall. No one as i expected. Quickly I jogged into the bathroom and turned on the light in the bathroom. The shower was the next thing I turned on as I put my towel on the toilet after shutting the lid. Once the water was hot enough I stepped inside to freshen up. After doing the rest of my bathroom routine I got dressed for the day. Navy jeans, pink T-shirt and my black leather jacket, and brown boots to top it off. I walked downstairs and told Lilly I would be in the car. She got up from the table and followed me outside. I hadn't told her what happened last night, I just barely found the courage to tell mom last night. I don't know why I was so nervous, I think it's because everyone was building this up so much. It put me off. Lilly and I sat in the car. I turned it on as well as the heat before driving to Dunkin Donuts for my usual coffee. Arriving at the school I saw that it was just Humphreys' car. I felt a small amount of worry, normally Rick was here. I parked next to Humphrey and stepped out. Humphrey and Lilly did the same, doing their usual kiss and hug they did.
"Hey Kate," he said afterwards. I smiled and waved. I was happy to see Rick but when he left I felt so alone. Yesterday sucked and I couldn't wait until next week when he would be back.
"Was Rick here?" I asked, hoping that he didn't just drop off Angel and drive off. But Angel always hangs around us.
"No he wasn't," Humphrey told me. My ears dropped as I began to worry again. Lilly hit my arm playfully.
"That bummed huh?" she teased. My ears perked up again.
"No," I said nervously. Lilly giggled when Humphrey pointed across the parking lot.
"There he is," he said. I turned around and watched him pull in and park next to me. I breathed a small sigh of relief. Angel got out and hugged Lilly before saying hi to me and Humphrey. When I saw Rick come around from the otherside of the truck I got an idea. I know exactly how to tell the others that were together now.
"Hey guys," Rick said. Humphrey waved slightly while Lilly gave a quick.
"Hey Rick '' I walked over and pulled Rick close to me and gave him a smooch on the lips, catching him off guard, I could tell by the way he did not return the kiss. Our lips parted with a light smack.
"Hey" he said.
"Hey" I giggled. I turned to my right to see the other three staring in complete disbelief.
"What. the. Ass" Angel said.
"When the fuck did this happen?" Humphrey asked.
"Ferris wheel," I said.
"What? I… how?" Lilly blurted. Me and Rick both laughed.
"Fuck. yes!" Angel exclaimed with a fist pump. Not sure why she was so excited.
"What?" Rick said, confused.
"Think about it. We have Lilly, Humphrey, and now Kate all in the same tree, it's like all of my favorite people are a family now" Angel explained. Hearing that made my heart melt. Angel was so sweet when she wanted to be. I turned back to Rick and we kissed again. This time he returned it. It felt so nice and sweet. No tongue though, not yet. We broke it before I talked.
"Date after school?" I asked.
"Date after school," Rick said. I chuckled and gave him another kiss on the lips. I'm so glad I'm not just kissing his cheek anymore.
"Looks like i'm taking you home again" Humphrey said to Angel with a hand on her shoulder.
"She dont mind, we always end up hanging out after school anyway" Lilly said as she began walking to the school. Humphrey followed but Angel had one more thing to say before leaving.
"I'm happy for you guys' she said. She then jogged to catch up to the other two. My arms still wrapped around Rick. I turned to him and gave him another kiss, I could really get used to this. When I broke it I stared into his eyes for a moment.
"I love you" I said softly. He rubbed my cheek with his thumb before pulling me into another kiss.
"I love you too," he said back afterwards. I heard the warning bell ring and whimpered. I didn't want to leave him. Not yet.
"I'll see you after school okay" Rick said. I whimpered again before giving him another kiss.
"Okay" I whispered as I rubbed his face. We then broke our embrace and I began walking to the school by myself as Rick got back in his truck and pulled off.
When lunch time finally came around I was on my way to the cafeteria deciding whether or not to tell my friends that I succeeded last night when Angel started walking beside me.
"Oh. Hey Angel," I said.
"Hey Kate. so i'm sure you want to sit with your friends and tell them everything but we have questions and we need to interrogate you" Angel joked.
"Okay" I laughed as I followed her inside the cafeteria and to their table. We got our food before we all sat down at the table. Something was different though. Next to Angel sat Shaky, now that was something I wanted to ask about. Were they dating? Last night at the boardwalk they spent a good amount of time together. As I sat and looked around the table I couldn't help but think that there was something missing. All tables in the cafeteria were circular. Six seats were at each table, so there was one spot open at the table. A perfect spot for Rick.
"Okay so we want the whole story, tell us what happened" Lilly said. All eyes were on me as I sat there nervously. I cleared my throat shyly before answering.
"We… got on the ferris wheel and was enjoying the view. I thought it would make for a nice picture, so I took it and… we were close for the picture you know? So when we looked at it there was a moment… I took that moment to finally close the gap between us," I explained.
"Can we see the picture?" Angel asked. I pulled out my phone and unlocked it. I then went to my photos and tapped on the one of me and Rick. After I pulled it up I reached across the table and handed Angel my phone. Shaky, Lilly and Humphrey leaned over to see it, although Humphrey was having some trouble because of how far off to the side he was.
"You both look so happy," Angel said as she held the phone.
"Lucky son of a bitch" Shaky joked.
"Let me see?" Humphrey asked. Angel handed him the phone and Humphrey took it to examine the picture. He glanced at it and laughed. "I'm so proud of him," he said as he handed me back my phone.
"Proud?" I asked.
"Kate. do you know how scared he was to even talk to you at first?" Humphrey said.
"He has been afraid to scare you off," Lilly added. Wow, did I really come off that way or was he really that nervous?
"So what do you two plan on doing after school?" Angel asked as she took a sip of coke. Of course she had a straw in the can, she was so the type of person to do that. She sucked at it as she looked up to me from the can. So the question itself came off normal but the way she was drinking that she was asking if… she has a really dirty mind.
"I don't know, dinner maybe?" I said.
"Dinner she says" Shaky said laughing.
"You got a better idea?" Lilly asked him.
"I do," Shaky said as he turned to me. "It might seem stupid but how about you two take a walk around the city. Go to some stores in the outlets, get some popcorn and hang out and if ya want… have dinner there to" he suggested. That seemed like a really good idea. I nodded.
"Huh… that sounds pretty good actually, thanks Shaky, never expected that from you" I said.
"Well thank you Kate" he said smugly. The others looked at him with a smirk waiting for him to realize that I just jokingly insulted him. "Wait a second what the fuck?" he asked. The table then burst into laughter.
Eventually after school I walked to my car expecting to see Rick but no such luck. It was a little chilly so I sat in my car and turned it on. The heat came through the vents making me feel warmer than I was. I pulled out my phone to see I had a text from Rick.
"figured we could car pull so we don't have to take them separately, want to meet at your place?" I smiled as I read it. I messaged him
"yes what time?" I then put my phone to the side and began driving home. Lilly would ride with Humphrey and Angel so I didn't have to worry about them. Although if they did need a ride, I would gladly give them one. As I was driving I heard my text tone go off. I waited until I was at a red light to see what it was. As expected it was a text from Rick.
"as soon as you want, I can head over now if you'd like" it read. I messaged back a quick
"sounds good" before tossing my phone to the side again and continuing the drive.
When I pulled into the driveway I noticed that I was the only one home. I turned my car off and walked inside, again leaving the door unlocked. Afterwards I made my way to the living room and laid on the couch as I waited for Rick to show up. I just played a game on my phone for about seven minutes before I heard my doorbell ring.
"It's open!" I called. I heard the door open and close followed by footsteps coming to the living room. I lowered my Phone to see Rick walking to me. I sat up and got to my feet. I then wrapped my arms around him and gave him a kiss on the lips. "Ready to go?" I asked.
"Yeah, where do you want to go?' he asked. I remembered what Shaky said so I decided to go with it.
"Want to go to the outlets and hang out?" I asked.
"It's cold," Rick warned. The outlets in the city were like an outdoor mall. It consisted of a bunch of stores lined up to make a hallway, the actual hallway being outside while the stores were indoor, obviously.
"I'll be fine," I said before giving him another kiss. I then broke our embrace and walked to the front door. Rick followed me out, after which I locked the door before turning to the driveway.
"I'll drive," Rick said. We both made our way to the truck and climbed inside.
As we drove I wanted to pick at Rick for a second. Get some answers to questions I really needed to solve.
"Hey Rick?" I began. Rick did a double take between me and the road.
"Yeah?" he answered.
"Remember when you texted me when I was with my grandparents?" I asked.
"Yeah?" he said.
"You mentioned there was a girl you liked, loved actually… Was that me?" I asked. Rick started to chuckle to himself.
"Yeah Kate, it was always you," he said. If it wasn't for the fact that he was driving I would have kissed him again. "So the outlets. That's different" Rick commented.
"Yeah, it was something different," I explained. Rick nodded as he continued driving. It was silent for a while until Rick spoke again.
"Kate… now probably isn't the best time, but now that you're here i want to tell you… I've loved you for so long… I always have, so much so that I never even tried to date anyone else. It's always been you. From the first day I saw you I couldn't stop thinking about you. I'm just sorry that I never talked to you. You were just so popular" he went on. He wasn't making this easy, I really wanted to kiss him. "I just hope you don't mind me asking… what changed?" he asked. I didn't exactly know how to answer that. Mostly because I didn't have an answer. He asked me this before when we first hung out but now that we were together I feel cornered.
"I… I think it started when I saw you in the kitchen that day. You were kind to me without being a creep like so many others. You were different. I got the urge to talk to you and… once I was in the hospital and you took care of me, saved me, your presence just made me feel… safe. I never wanted you to leave my side.I still don't. And the more I talked to you, spent time with you, I fell in love with you, and all that time with Humphrey and Angel, and Lilly… It just felt like we built a family that I didn't have before. I love my parents and sister but… when you came into my life for good, it felt like everything came together for me. And i liked it, before i saw you i was miserable… I dreaded waking up. I don't know how long I would have lasted, and thanks to you… you saved my life. Both literally and mentally, I love you so much, you're so much more to me than a person," I explained. It was a lot to say and probably a lot to take in for him as he was silent for a minute before replying.
"It may not have seemed like it… but I wasn't in a good place either. It was never easy being told that you were out of my league, that i didn't have a chance, it's probably the reason i didnt ever talk to you. Even with my sister constantly hanging around yours. We just never… met properly" Rick said. I rubbed his arm, there was that guilty feeling again.
"I'm so sorry I never noticed you like I should have," I said. Rick held my hand and kissed it as he kept his eyes on the road.
"You're here now, that's all that matters" he said.
When we got to the outlets we found a parking spot and headed inside. We went to fun stores like a massive candy store. There we looked around at the oversized lollipops and chocolate bars. Me loving sweets. I ended up getting a bag of gummy bears. Rick thought it was cute that I loved sweets as much as I did. I blushed when he said it but hey. If he liked it then I was okay with it. I offered him some but he only wanted a single green one. I was kind though and gave him three of them. He appreciated it. Next we went to a clothes store. We didn't spend too much time there because it was generic. I just saw a dark green jacket in the window that I really liked. Rick bought it for me and we went to the next store. Interestingly there was a hot sauce store that just sold hot sauce. They had sample bottles so me and Rick spent about twenty minutes trying different sauces, trying to find the hottest ones. We had only a tiny spoon to try it but it felt like a lot. We left the store desperately trying to find a drink. We bought two bottles of water and downed them. We laughed it off afterwards.
The most important store we stopped at though was a jewelry store. Rick wanted to go in there, I wasn't sure why. Maybe a new watch? He always wears a watch, there's no way it was for me. Well I got one thing right. It wasn't for me.
"What are you looking for?" I asked him as we approached a display case. It was filled with necklaces.
"Something for Angel" he said. Angel? I didn't take her for the jewelry type.
"What were you looking for?" I asked him again.
"Something that can remind her of me. I just feel bad that we haven't done anything and keep putting it off" he explained. He eventually found something. He called one of the girls over and ended up buying a locket that could hold a small picture. Inside the picture was surrounded with holy water. As the girl was describing this I found it interesting.
"The point of the necklace is that it comes in a pair, you and the person you give it to will have one so that you can always be with each other. The holy water is what's supposed to make it all possible, the picture is just a bonus, you can put anything in it" she explained. The asking price was three hundred dollars. It was a lot but Rick didn't care he bought it without a second thought.
"She'll love it" I said as I nuzzled against him.
"She better" he responded as the girl boxed it up.
"Where the hell do you get all this money?" I asked as we walked away. He was kind but really, where was all this coming from?
"Well… you might notice my father isn't around a whale lot. He's always working, and I feel bad for the guy but the money he pulls in. it's a lot, more than we need. So every Friday he sends at least five hundred to my account, I haven't really had anything to spend it on so I've just been saving" he explained.
"How much do you have?" I asked curiously. I really hope that question didn't make me seem like a gold digger.
"Enough" he said.
"Enough for what?" I giggled.
"To take care of you" he said before kissing me. I giggled into the kiss. It was so wonderful.
We ended up eating before going to a certain part of the outlets. There was a staircase at the end of it that led to the roof. It wasn't actually to the roof though it was a balcony that overlooked the city. It was a gorgeous sight.
"It's so pretty isn't it?" I asked.
"Yeah," Rick replied. We just sat on the bench admiring the view. Eventually I rested my head on Rick's shoulders. "You cold?' Rick asked.
"No," I answered. We just sat for a bit in silence. Just enjoying each other's company. It was all I really wanted. Cold wind blew, making us shiver a bit. "It is freezing though," I admitted. Rick chuckled.
"Want to head back?" he asked.
"Sure" I said as I lifted my head up, but I didn't stand up yet. Instead I looked back at Rick as he sat next to me. We had a moment just gazing into each other's eyes before leaning in. this is it, i'm gonna see if he lets my tongue in. I greeted his lips again, suckling on them gently but after they parted, making a smacking sound I went in for another, this time with a little bit of an open mouth. I put my arm around his back as he ran his fingers through my hair, rubbing behind my ear making me giggle into the kiss. It felt so relaxing. Finally I slipped my tongue out and to my surprise, he greeted it warmly. My tongue met his as it licked lightly. We went for another round with even more tongue. The outside was so cold but his mouth was so warm. Welcoming and was so sweet. I moaned a little bit in the kiss. At this moment the outside world didn't exist, I wanted this to last forever. I tilted my head to get farther in as he tilted his the other way. We licked at each other's tongues again lovingly as the wind blew again. But I didn't even notice. By this point my lips were starting to moisten with saliva that was no longer my own, I really enjoyed the feeling and taste of it all. After a couple more licks we let go of each other, making one last smacking sound as our lips parted. We both laughed as our foreheads met again. I loved when he did this.
"I love you Rick," I said.
"I love you" he responded. We let go and this time I got to my feet. Together we walked to Rick's truck and began our journey back to my house. The ride was silent but I feel like it was because we were having so many thoughts racing through our heads.
When we pulled in Rick tried to say his goodbyes.
"I'll see you tomorrow?" he asked.
"Come in," I said. I wanted mom to talk with him, I know she's been really eager to ever since the whole Garth thing.
"Kate, it's getting pretty late. I dont think your mom would-" he began but i cut him off.
"She won't mind. Trust me" I said before quickly hopping out of the car so that he couldn't protest. He turned off his truck and met me at the door. I smiled at him before unlocking it and holding it open for him. When he stepped in I followed. Shutting and locking the door behind us. When we stepped inside I took my jacket off and put my bags down by the stairs.
'Kate?" I heard my mom call. She turned around the corner from the kitchen. Once she saw Rick though all her attention was on him.
"Oh Rick, you're here" she said as she walked up and hugged him. He stood there awkwardly before accepting the hug and returning it. Mom broke the hug between them.
"I just wanted to say thank you for sticking it to that ass hole" she said.
"Huh? Oh yeah. Dont worry about it, I just lost it when he hit Kate" he explained.
"Well i'm glad you did, you're just like me you know, or at least i like to think so, and that will come in handy now that you're officially part of the family" she said as she turned to walk back to the living room. Rick shot me a look of disbelief. I winked at him with a smile as I began to make my way to the living room.
Once I reached it I saw Lilly and Angel sitting on the couch watching TV. Mom was on the couch but Humphrey and dad were nowhere to be seen.
"Where's dad?" I asked.
"Sleeping," mom answered.
"Humphrey?" I questioned.
"He left two hours ago," Lilly answered.
"I was starting to think you weren't coming, '' Angel said to Rick.
"I thought you were home," he told her. Angel just stuck her tongue out at him.
"She told your mom that you and her were spending the night," Lilly said.
"Is that okay?" I asked. I really wanted to end this night as good as possible. I didn't want to have sex though. Well I did but I didn't want to make Rick feel uncomfortable.
"Of course. Just behave" my mom said. Me and Rick both laughed before heading upstairs. It was ten oclock and I felt as though I was really sleepy. Rick took his jacket off and put it on the chair that sat in the corner of my room. Meanwhile I took off my bra and pants.
"Going to bed already?" he asked.
"Yeah, I'm kind of tired. That okay?" I asked. He nodded as he took his jeans off. We then got into bed and I turned the light out. It was quiet before I said something. "Cuddle?" I asked. I heard Rick snicker before turning over to me and pulled me into a hug as we laid in the bed. As we snuggled Rick kissed my neck. I giggled at the feeling. He then kissed his way up to my muzzle until our lips met again. I pulled him on top of me in preparation for this makeout session. Like i said i didn't plan on having sex, especially with mom probably keeping an ear out. No kissing was good enough for me right now. Baby steps.
We licked tenderly at each other's tongues as I moaned lightly into his mouth. I played with his hair as he kissed me. He rubbed behind my ear with his left hand while he cupped my cheek with his right. We broke the kiss with a wet smack before I blurted out a quick,
"i love you" i kissed again as Rick repositioned himself to get a little more inbetween me. Breaking the kiss again it was his turn.
"I love you too" he said before I quickly lifted my head from the pillow and pulled him into another passionate kiss. I might have gone too far with wrapping my leg around him and pulling our hips even closer together then they already were. I felt his penis start to harden and from what I could feel it was a really good size. Not right now though, I have to resist. I ran my fingers through his hair a little more before our kiss broke again. A loud smack being heard. We breathed heavily as saliva still connected our mouths.
"I love you" he whispered again. I gave his tongue one more lick.
"I love you too," I said. We looked into eachothers eyes for a while before I nuzzled his neck. He chuckled before giving me one more peck on the lips and turning over. I turned over with him to his side of the bed and cuddled him. I felt so comfy and safe. It was really going to suck waking up for school tomorrow. "Sweet dreams Kate," Rick said. I gave his neck a kiss. "Night Rick" shortly after we fell asleep in each other's embrace.
