-Chapter 3-

"Welcome to Anenfel, to our knowledge the last Elven settlement in existence…" The man's face had softened when he spoke but soon enough he went back to the more stoic and brooding look.

The two devils were led towards a building more on the outskirts of the village. "We have alerted our leaders to your presence, and they will soon be here to meet with you. Until then please don't go anywhere outside of this building." He said sternly before leaving. Through one of the windows, they could see two of the other people that were with the guy that just left them standing guard at the door.

Hadrian then realized something, "We never asked for any of their names." He exclaimed.

Alexandrov laughed a little. "Don't worry about, even if we asked I don't feel like he wouldn't told us right this moment. Maybe after this talk with their leaders, which you will have to take the lead on." He warned Hadrian.

"What do you mean I'll have to take the lead? You're the older and more experienced one of us two here." The young boy said with a small pout. "Besides how am I supposed to speak with these leaders when I know nothing."

"That is something you'll have to figure out little lord, but I'm just a servant of the house of Phenex, I'm technically not allowed to speak for the house or in any official capacity like this. Everything I do still reflects on house Phenex, and if you an Heir of the family leave everything to who is simply a servant or escort it could reflect badly upon you."

"But I'm twelve! How does that reflect badly upon me." Hadrian said shocked.

"I know it's unfair, but that is how it is, many do not care for your age but for your actions and words instead. So, stand your ground and don't let yourself be intimidated." The half-dragon shrugged. "I can't really give you any other advice, and if you truly have need of me I'll intervene, but I can't lead the conversation."

Hadrian wished his father was here, he would easily be able to do all of this, he would probably know how to handle something like discovering a society hidden in the woods of where your former school from your past life stood. Oh, who was he kidding, that was a situation unique to Hadrian… his father would know how to handle talks like this though.

Besides that, how would these leaders react to them, they were led here by Hadrian's feelings, and in the eyes of some that wasn't a very good reason for being somewhere where he technically probably shouldn't be. Would they be mad, shocked, would they be kicked out, would it come to a fight, or would nothing of the sort happen. Hadrian didn't like this.

Hadrian let out a sigh before his eyes wondered around the room. It was a fairly simple building more or less like a wooden house someone people often see and read of in fantasy novels set in a more medieval era. The room was sparsely furnished with a simple couch next to fireplace which was made from stone. There was a comfy rug and a large chair next to the fireplace as well.

Then to the side there was a rectangular table which could seat six people in total. Off to the side was a kitchen of sorts and a door which led to what Hadrian assumed to be a bedroom as there was only one story to the side.

Hadrian and Alexandrov had to wait for somewhere around thirty minutes before the door to the cabin/house they were in opened.

"Sorry for the wait, we were in a meeting of our own when one of our scout captains brought you here." An older looking lady said. When Hadrian meant older looking he didn't mean like an actual old lady, because she certainly did not look like that, but she looked like she could be somewhere close to forty years old or even a little older.

"Don't worry, we didn't mind the wait after walking through the forest all day." Hadrian said as the woman and the two people with her slowly moved towards the table. She took a seat at one of the heads of the table and gestured towards the other end of the table. Hadrian took the seat opposite hers with Alexandrov at his right side, as her companions took a seat to her left and right as well.

"Allow me to introduce myself and my companions, I am Iarhana Greenblossom current leader of this village and often revered to as Elder Iarhana or Elder Greenblossom, feel free to address me with either." She smiled softly. "These are my fellow council members, this is Vanelis Sparkdew, he is in charge of our craftsman and their representative on the council." She said as she gestured towards the man seated towards her left. "And this is Orithana Autumngrove, she is in charge of not only our scout regimen but also any and all warriors within Anenfel." She motioned to the woman seated to her right.

Hadrian took a moment to study the three people before him. Elder Iarhana was a woman with beautiful auburn hair, green eyes, and pale skin with a freckled face, she appeared to be around forty years old but knowing she was and elf and seen as an Elder she must be a lot older than she looks. She was lithe with nice curves a body that showed she was rather athletic.

Vanelis Sparkdew was of a shorter build with brown hair and honey-colored eyes. He however was a bit more tanned and had a stockier build compared to the scouts they had seen before, Hadrian guessed that as a craftsman he must be a blacksmith of some kind himself.

Orithana Autumngrove was even taller than Elder Iarhana who was close to 6'ft in height as well, she also had more lean muscles, but you could clearly see her arms were very strong. She too had more auburn hair although mixed in with some brown, tanned but with freckles present on her face right underneath her golden eyes.

"Then allow me to introduce myself and my own companion, I am Hadrian Phenex the second in line as Heir to the Phenex Clan of Devils. And this is my current guard for the day and my father's servant and friend Alexandrov Vasiliev a reincarnated Devil." Hadrian said as he held a hand to his chest before gesturing to the half-dragon when he introduced Alexandrov.

"It's a pleasure to meet you, I'm sorry for the rough welcome but we have been rather secluded from the rest of the supernatural world for many years now so when we felt two distinct magical presences approach our barrier we were rather warry you see." Elder Iarhana apologized.

"Don't worry, we do not take slight against your scouts for handling us the way they did, we were happy we were capable of solving this peacefully." Hadrian grinned, he was heavily pulling on his education in this world and his knowledge of his adult live as Harry Potter in order to make it through this conversation. He spared a small look towards the rook sitting besides him who flashed him a small thumbs up out of sight from the Council Members before them.

Orithana spoke up then, "We do however wish to know why you came to our village, as Older Iarhana said we have been separated from the larger supernatural world for many years now, how is it you found us so easily and decided to approach." She sounded rather gruff when she spoke, as if she wasn't too happy to be here.

"We were visiting the surrounding lands and when we came closer to the forest I could feel the magic permeating through the air of the forest coming from somewhere within its center, I was honestly drawn towards not only the magic but something or someone within this forest and decided to follow both the magic and this feeling…" Hadrian hesitated a little. "Besides that, I don't know what it was that actually drew me here. But I know there is something here calling to me."

Elder Iarhana nodded to herself, "Very well, if we are honest there are a number of humans who have also felt a call to our settlement, some of whom stayed and remained by our side until their end. It is the first time however that someone other than a human was called here…"

"We will allow you to remain here for three days to see if you can find what drew you here, just like those humans for each one it was something else that drew them to our little village." She looked at her two fellow council members who nodded. "You will be allowed to remain within this cabin for your time here as you explore our village, once those three days are over we will hold another meeting like this one, we will then see about either possibly extending your stay here or if we will be sending you off on your way back home."

She reached in her robe and brought out a small book, which was pushed across the table towards them, "Take this, it's a book a human once wrote on our rules and customs, please make sure to behave yourselves properly while within our village." The three council members soon left the two Devils once more alone in the wooden cabin.

After a moment of silence Alexandrov addressed Hadrian, "Young master, please go and rest up for tomorrow, in the meantime I will contact your father and inform him of our current situation." The half-dragon smiled at Hadrian. "You did well by the way, very well." Hadrian blushed a little before nodding and going towards the room he suspected was a bedroom.

When he entered the room he was proven right, it was an average sized bedroom which held two single beds and a small round table with two soft and plush chairs. Hadrian claimed one of the beds and used some magic to bring himself some sleep wear before eventually going to bed.

The following morning

Hadrian woke up to some light shining directly onto his face and found Alexandrov asleep on the other bed within the room. Hadrian used some magic to freshen up before he left the bedroom when he saw that a basket was seated on the dinner table they had used yesterday whilst meeting with the council members.

When he looked through the basket he found both bread and fruits and a bottle with what Hadrian assumed to be some sort of fruit juice. Besides that, there was not much else there but he was already grateful that they didn't have to worry about breakfast.

Alexandrov then came from their shared bedroom and sleepily greeted Hadrian as he sat down, "Where did the basket with food come from?" he asked.

"I have no idea; it was here when I walked into the room. I assume one of the elves must have dropped it off whilst we were sleeping." He shrugged a little. "But what are our plans for today?" he asked the half-dragon as they started eating after grabbing some plates and cups from one of the small kitchen cupboards.

Alexandrov shrugged, "I spoke with your father yesterday after you went to bed and whilst he was concerned he agreed to your staying here for these three days. He does want to be updated at the end of each day and that if something is wrong we leave immediately. So in theory we have free reign right now."

Hadrian nodded and soon after they finished their breakfast they decided to leave the cabin they were staying in and make their way deeper into the village. Some of the village people threw them suspicious looks and others just full on ignored them. Then there were a few that openly showed their curiosity towards the two new faces.

The devil pair looked around various stalls and shops, they didn't exactly have the currency they needed in order to buy anything but quickly found out that they mostly worked with some form of trade system here. From item to item, from service to service, or items in exchange for service and vice versa.

What interested them the most however were the sounds of wooden weapons smacking against one another in the distance. The sound led them closer towards the giant tree where they found a large barracks of sorts together with a training yard where a large number of elves were sparring against one another.

You could see a section of them working on their archery, others were working with wooden swords or spears. You could even see a rare few working with throwing knifes. They recognized the scout captain that had led them into the village the day before watching over those that were practicing their archery.

"Good morning!" Hadrian greeted as he approached the older man, "I'm sorry for the disturbance but I recognized you from yesterday and decided to come say hello." The devil gave a small grin.

"Ah you two." He said as he looked over Hadrian's shoulder towards Alexandrov. "The elder informed all of us you would be allowed to stay within the village for a couple of days. I apologize for not introducing myself earlier, I am scout captain Maeral Carwynn, also one of the Archery trainers here, please just call me Maeral."

"Pleasure to meet you, as stated before I am Hadrian Phenex, and this is-" Hadrian gestured towards Alexandrov.'

"I'm Alexandrov Vasiliev, servant of house Phenex." The half-dragon simply stated making the scout captain nod.

"Well, welcome to our village, sorry for the hostile approach yesterday, but as you have no doubt been informed we do not get visitors from the supernatural side often." Maeral admitted, "Aside from the small number of humans who've found us you are the first of any faction to find us within the last two-hundred years."

"You've been disconnected from everything for that long?" Hadrian asked a little shocked.

"Longer even, it was about seven-hundred years before that when this village was founded with our current elder having been the daughter of our previous elder and founder. They decided that in order to preserve ourselves as a species we needed to keep separate from the world." The wood elf shrugged. "In those times up until about two-hundred years ago we still had some contact with other Fae, some of the Celtic Deities, and the occasional spirit or magical beast. You are however the first of the Christian pantheon we've had contact within a long time."

They continued to talk with the scout captain for a little while about both the elven village, the outside world, and the status of certain factions. But that is when Hadrian could feel it again, the strange pull he felt from within the village. He noticed yesterday evening that the pull had lessened somewhat now that he had been within the village. However, now he could feel it twice as strong as before.

He looked around him suddenly turning around to get a better look of his surroundings stopping the conversation between Maeral and Alexandrov as they looked at Hadrian. "Hadrian what's wrong?" the half-dragon asked his charge.

That is when Hadrian saw him, he could barely see his face from how the person was positioned but when they turned around and he saw the blonde hair and ocean-blue eyes he briefly saw a visage cover the blonde-haired elf who was laughing at something one of his companions had said.

Hadrian let out a soft whisper of shock, "Draco….?"

And that was the end of this chapter, I hope you all enjoyed it, and I did as I promised I brought you this chapter before the end of the month! Which I am personally pretty happy about, however, I am not entirely sure how I feel about some of the character interactions in this chapter, So that is something I will be working on for future chapters.

Once again if there's specific things you want to see in terms of peerage members, character cameos, or anything you can think of don't hesitate to contact me through a review or by messaging me. I'll try to reply to everything if I can and enjoy reading all you guys' suggestions and recommendations.

Of course, I can't promise anything will or won't happen if you recommend it to me, but I will honestly consider everything you guys send in seriously.
