"You know that he doesn't really love you, right?"
Sidney sighed when she heard that voice. It was Laura Scelfo, the head cheerleader of Woodsboro High. Laura bullied Sidney and spread rumors about her every chance she got because she was jealous that Billy was her boyfriend. Even Christina Carpenter wasn't this awful to her and Christina was just as much of a bitch as Laura.
Steeling herself, Sidney turned around to face Laura. Laura stood, blocking the door to the girls' bathroom, her arms crossed over her blue uniformed chest emblazoned with a yellow W. Her blonde hair fell in bouncy waves to her shoulders and her eyebrows were raised. Somehow it made her malicious brown eyes even crueler.
"What do you want this time, Laura?" Sidney asked calmly.
Laura scoffed and uncrossed her arms but still blocked Sidney from leaving. "I want you to stop being so delusional and realize that Billy doesn't really love you. You're just a placeholder that he's having fun with until he gets bored," she said.
Sidney knew that Laura wanted a reaction from her, but she refused to give her one. Keeping her expression neutral, she asked, "And who would I be the placeholder for? Christina? You? All of the other girls besides Tatum who desperately want my boyfriend but can never have him?"
Laura narrowed her eyes, the smug look morphing into one of hatred. "Watch it, Prescott," she warned, taking a step closer to the other girl. "Wouldn't want me to mess up your face, would you? I'm sure Billy wouldn't like his toy having a black eye."
Despite herself Sidney took a step back from the cheerleader, her body shivering once at the promise in her voice. Laura was mostly all talk, but the brunette never wanted to push it when it came to their interactions; she never knew when Laura would snap and try to physically harm her.
"I'm not his toy," Sidney said, sounding stronger than she actually felt. "We're dating. I love him and he loves me."
Laura laughed mockingly. "Billy's a bad boy, Sidney. He always has been. He's never had a relationship that lasted longer than a few months and you know he's not a virgin. He has needs and right now the kissing and the hand holding is enough, but it won't be for long. He's going to want more and since you're so determined to be a little tease and not give him what he wants, it's only a matter of time before he gets tired of you and kicks you to the curb."
"You don't know what you're talking about."
"I know that any guy, especially one who knows what sex is like, wants an experienced woman and not a silly little virgin girl."
"Go away, Laura," Sidney snapped through clenched teeth, trying to ignore the sting of tears rising in the backs of her eyes.
Laura smirked, knowing that she's gotten into Sidney's head. It wouldn't be long now before her insecurities ruined her own relationship and she could have Billy to herself.
"Think about it. See ya, Sid," the blonde cheerleader sang mockingly, turning around and exiting the bathroom. The door slammed behind her with a haunting finality.
Wincing, Sidney could only stand there for a while, staring at the door as Laura's words bounced menacingly in her head.
"Billy's a bad boy."
"He's never had a relationship that lasted longer than a few months."
"He's not a virgin."
"His toy."
"You're just a placeholder he's having fun with until he gets bored."
"Any guy wants an experienced woman and not a silly little virgin girl."
Was Laura right? Would Billy eventually get bored of her and look for someone else who can satisfy him the way that he wants? He was always so patient and gentle with her, always backing off and respecting her decision whenever she told him no to anything more than making out or light petting when they were alone together, but…what if it's not enough? What if…what if she wasn't enough?
"No," she muttered to herself, shaking her head. "Billy's not like that. He loves me."
Before her thoughts could turn any darker, Sidney turned on her heel and walked swiftly out of the bathroom, heading for her next class that would begin in a few minutes.
But Laura's voice followed her…
"What's going on, Sid?"
Billy's voice, rough with concern, made Sidney look up from her notebook, in which she had been doodling little squiggles and random patterns in the margins beside Math terms and practice equations.
Billy was staring at her, his brown eyes dark with worry and curiosity. Strands of his dark blonde, almost brown hair, fell messily onto his forehead. He was so handsome out of her league and Laura's words hit her full force again.
"He doesn't really love you."
"Nothing," Sidney finally answered, dropping her gaze to her notebook again. "I'm fine, you don't need to worry about me, Billy."
She heard him sigh and felt her couch dip with his added weight. A hand reached out and slammed her notebook shut before pushing it away.
Startled, a gasp escaped her as her chin was gently but firmly gripped and pulled up so they were eye to eye.
"Bullshit, Sid," he said firmly, not letting her pull away from him this time. "You've been down and moody since English today, so I'm going to ask you again and I want you to tell me the truth this time: what is going on?"
Sidney swallowed past the lump in her throat. She knew she couldn't lie again, not when he was staring at her like that.
Licking her lips, Sidney began, "I was in the bathroom in between classes and Laura came in."
Billy's eyes darkened at the name. Of all the girls in school who harassed Sidney because he chose her as his girlfriend, Laura was the worst. She constantly insulted Sidney and made up rumors about her—that she was crazy, that she cheated on him, blah blah blah—and made her life hell during class hours. The only thing she hadn't done yet was physically attack her, and God help the bitch if she ever did that because He would be the only one to save her then.
"What did Laura say this time?" He growled, the cheerleader's name coming out in an angry hiss.
"She told me that you didn't really love me," Sidney said in a whisper. "That I was your toy and you were just playing with me until you found someone better, someone who would…" she gulped, tears stinging her eyes again. "Someone who would have sex with you and not make you wait like some tease."
A nearly animalistic snarl ripped from deep within Billy's chest at that.
"That fucking bitch," he growled.
"Billy…" Sidney trailed.
"Don't you dare say that you think she's right," her boyfriend interrupted her. "Laura is a jealous, selfish, controlling bitch who has no self-esteem of her own so she has to get it by ruining others'."
"But…"
"No!" Billy removed his hand from her chin to cup her face in both of them. Staring deeply into her eyes so she could see nothing but the truth, he told her: "I love you, Sidney. You. I chose you and I will always want you. I don't care that you don't want to have sex with me, I don't care about all of those rumors they started, I don't care about any of that! What I do care about is you. I care about your happiness and your wishes and your love. You're mine."
"But your exes…"
"Are my exes. I never wanted anything more with them, but you? I want everything with you and I have only truly loved you. You're the girl I love more than my own life, do you understand?"
Sidney nodded, a smile forming on her face. Her tears began to fall from joy now and not from despair. Billy Loomis loved her, she could see and hear nothing but sincerity from him.
"I understand," she said.
With her answer, Billy pulled the beautiful brunette into his arms and pressed a passionate kiss to her lips, smiling against them when she wrapped her arms around his neck and deepened it.
It may not have been the way he wanted to tell his girlfriend that he loved her for the first time, but if it eliminated all of the doubts in her mind that he did, then he was grateful for the opportunity.
