It was late the following night when the clip clopping of horse hooves broke through the clearing of the forest. Upon the horses were none other then Lana and Angela. Lana had continued her friendship with Angela although it wasn't strong she knew her sister had tried to fix Clark when he was acting out and she commended her for her efforts.
They were making their way down to the cemetary to visit with Lanas parents graves. Angela felt sort of honoured to have been asked despite the place they were going it at least showed she wasn't being blamed for Clark's behaviour.
"Do you think I should forgive your brother?,"
"That is up to you Lana, I know he did some stupid stuff, but I can't speak on how you feel. Weather you want to forgive him is your choice,"
"Thanks Angela, for the advice, and for coming tonight with me,"
"Your welcome, its nice actually to ride Trigger again it's been too long," Angela said patting the horse on the mane of its neck.
"Maybe we can make this a regular thing any time we have free time we ride,"
"Deal," Angela agreed as they arrived at the gravesites.
Angela stepped away with the horses, letting Lana have the few moments with her parents, and when she pointed out she wasn't alone Angela let out just a short hello to them.
"Angela look at this," Lana said walking up to with a envelope in her hands.
"What is it?,"
"I don't know," Lana began opening it curious too about it.
"It's a love letter,"
"Really?,"
"Yeah but there's no name I guess I have a secret admirer,"
"That's sort of nice, as long as he isn't some crazy stalker or something it's nice for you to have something sweet like that in your life,"
"Thanks Angela, I really hope I can be lucky like you though you have a man who loves you to death,"
"True, I am lucky to have Lex," Angela siad as a smile graced her lips.
The following day after they had finished school Angela drove Lana to the Talon in agreement for a coffee and a discussion about the letter. Lana had shown it to Pete and Chloe who had agreed with Angela that as long as the person was safe they were happy for her.
As Angela sat at the counter, and Lana stood behind it, Lex arrived sliding his arm behind Angela's shoulders.
"Hi love,"
"Hi Angel," Lex replied kissing her temple.
"What's the topic of today?,"
"Lana received a love letter,"
"Really, from who?,"
"No idea, you can have a look tell me what you think," Lana said handing Lex the letter.
"That's sweet," Lex said as he finished the poem and handed the letter back to her.
"Thanks, thats what the girls and Pete said too,"
"Add in the fact I pointed out as long as it's not from a stalker, or sick person," Angela replied knowing that Lex would catch on to her meaning.
"True, otherwise I'm happy for you Lana,"
"Thank you Lex," Lana smiled before rolling her eyes at who had just entered the Talon.
"Why are you here bro?,"
"I came to apologize to Lana. Look Lana I'm sorry not only for critizing the letter but also for the way I acted recently,"
"You were extremly immature,"
"I know, I just didn't find it fair that you didn't share with me too,"
"You can't expect me to share everything with you Clark when you continue being so secretive," Lana pointed out a good fact that Angela silently agreed with.
At the mansion as Angela and Lex were arriving home they noticed her mother sitting in the court yard with Lionel.
"Hi mom," Angela said strolling up and bending down to hug her mom.
"Hi sweetie, I came by to get this months check from Lex,"
"Oh sure why don't you come on in I can get it for you,"
"Why doesn't my son just bring it out it's such a nice day especially with such a good company as your mother,"
"True Lionel, another assisstant gone?,"
"Yes why my son picks such prudes makes no sense,"
"Sorry Lionel I'm sure we will find you the right one, perhaps next time you would like to be there to meet the appliers?,"
"Actually, I have a idea, why doens't your mother just take the job,"
"Me, really," Martha spoke up in such.
"Why not? You read that paper to me and unlike the others you had a understanding of the matter it spoke about,"
"I would have to discuss it with my husband before I agree,"
"I understand do what you must," Lionel said as he stood up to make his way back inside.
"Hello father, Martha," Lex greeted as he arrived to the small gathering.
"Lex,"
"Hi Lex," Martha greeted back.
"Everything ok?,"
"Yes all good mom just came to get this months check and was surprisinly offered a job y your father,"
"Seriously?,"
"Yup," Angela replied seeing that Lex was as shock as she was.
"Well that is her choice, good person to pick though father Martha is a very wise woman,"
"Thank you son," Lionel replied as he made his way inside.
"Here you go Martha," Lex handed her the check as she stood to head home.
"Thank you Lex, see you later sweetie,"
"Bye mom love you," Angela said hugging her mother again as she headed out.
Heading inside Angela made her way upstairs to get dressed to meet up with Lana again, and Lex headed into the study to get some more work done til she got home.
After dressing in her jean leggings, plaid blouse, and riding boots she headed into the study to let Lex know she was headed out.
"I'll be back shortly love,"
"Be safe,"
"Always," Angela agreed as she gave Lex a kiss and then grabbed her gloves off the table in front of the fireplace and headed off.
Lana and Angela had stayed at the cemetary longer then expected. Angela had been laying against Trigger who had laid down with Lana's horse, and Lana who had fallen asleep on her parent's graves.
Heaing footsteps approaching them she was shocked to see a young man emerge. Angela took a guess it was Lana's secret admirer.
As he bent down leaving another note beside her he went to leave when Lana woke up startling him. As Lana turned her flashlight on she accidently raised it too high, as Clark stupidly jumped out of the bushes scaring him causing him to fall back hitting his head.
"Way to go bro stupid move," Angela growled at her brother as she stood up to lead the horses over to them.
"You can now take Lana and her friend to the Talon in the truck I know you have hidden around here, and Lana I'll take the horses back to the barn,"
"Thanks Angela," Lana said as she bent down to help the young man up.
"I will see you guys later," Angela threw herself up onto her horse and takign the reigns of Lana's horse rode off towards the direction of the barn.
Lana and Clark had just dropped Byron, as they came to find out, off at his house and were stunned to have had a shot gun pointed at them. Lana was worried now she didn't like how Byron's father was acting and knew she would need good help.
Getting to the manison Lana rang the bell hoping Angela had arrived home by now.
"Hey Lana what's up?,"
"I need your help,"
"With what excatly?,"
"Well Byron had us take him home but when we got there his father threatened us with a shot gun, I dont think Byron is being treated right,"
"Maybe Lex can help us out," Angela replied as they entered the study where Lex was bent over a keyboard.
"Ok babe take five we need your help," Angela said getting Lex's attention and waving him over to the couch where the girls were sitting.
"What's going on?,"
"I met my admirer,"
"That's good was he nice?,"
"Yes but when Clark and I took him home his father threatened us with a shot gun,"
"That's not appropriate,"
"Excatly, I think he is abusing Byron and I don't know what to do,"
"Well first we need to alert the sheriff, If that doesn't pan out then I can have someone do some digging,"
"Or I can call brainiac,"
"True why don't you do that now anyways,"
"Ok Lex," Angela agreed as she took out her cell phone and began calling Chloe to do her electronic thing.
Meanwhile Clark was doing yet another stupid thing, and this time it was going to get someone they cared about hurt. He and Pete had snuck onto the property to try to get Byron out. After going in through a boarded up window and down into the cellar they found him chained to a wall.
"Leave me alone,"
"We aren't leaving you here like this," Clark declared as he broke the chains holding Byron up.
As Pete and Clark got Byron upstairs and out onto the porch they were shocked when Byron suddenly turned on them. His eyes turned black and he flung Pete into a car and took off.
Clark decided not to follow Byron, but rather to take Pete to the hospital. As he drove them there he called Angela knowing she would be pissed at him.
"Hello?,"
"Hi sis, so Pete and I got Byron out of that house, but he's sick, and now Pete's hurt,"
"WHAT!," Angela yelled so loud that Lex and Lana's eyes went wide at the volume she hit beside them.
"I'm sorry sis, I'll call you back when I find out excatly what's wrong with Pete," with that Clark hung up fast to avoid being yelled at anymore.
"I...am...going...to...kill...him," Angela growled out.
"What happened?,"
"Clark being the dumbass he is decided to go on a life saving mission himself, and he took Pete. Now he is taking Pete to the hospital cause he's hurt, and Byron's out there by himself,"
"Isn't that good that he isn't with his father anymore?,"
"Yes and no Lana, he's sick he's that one who hurt Pete now he really needs our help," Angela explained to Lana as she sat back down with them.
Heading out Lex, Lana, and Angela met up with Clark and Jonathon at Byron's house. Only his mother was home and after discussing that the only way to help him was to get him out of the sun they agreed to go on the search for him as well.
Lana and Angela went off together and as they got to the cemetary they found Byron at his own grave.
"I'm not going back down to that cellar,"
"We just want to help you, Lex's father did this to you he wants to help you, he is out here searching for you too," Angela explained as they approached him.
"You lie!," Byron yelled getting upset grabbing Lana and tossing her causing her to hit a stone and passing out.
Angela got angry and using her strength grabbed him in a bear hug to hold him steady.
"We aren't lying to you Byron,"
"What are you?," he asked realizing he couldn't break the hold.
"Special, just like you but in a different way, let us help you," Angela tryed reasoning with him again.
They couldn't get him to settle down and he took off again. Clark arrived and took Lana to the hospital as Angela and Lex returned to the manison.
Upset that they couldn't get Byron to the hospital Angela and Lex sat ouside watching as Lionel and Martha got into a helicopter together to go to Metropolis.
Suddenly Byron came out of no where preventing the plane from taking off as he pulled Martha and Lionel off it.
"Mom!,"
"Martha!," Lex and Angela yelled out in shock as they rushed forward to helped them.
Angela ran forward tossing Byron away with her strength as Lex helped Martha and Lionel up and away from the plane.
"Are you crazy that's my mother you could have killed!,"
"I'm sorry I was only going for Luthor,"
"Well now you're not getting either of them," Angela said finally tapping into her gifts.
The only difference between her and Clark was that as her powers came into full effect her eyes glowed a brighter blue, and the aura around her was remarkable.
She flashed forward attacking Byron with left and right hooks. They fought all the way towards a well that sat on the property a few feet away, and with one swift kick Angela had Byron in the bottom of the well.
Lex was in shock, stunned at how Angela looked, and when she turned around he could tell she was now scared at how he would react.
Stepping foward he carefully made his way close to her and wrapped his arms around her tightly whispering how much he loved her in her ears to calm her down.
When she finally had settled down Lex led her inside and up to their bedroom where he allowed her to change and hide from the outside world for the rest of the night.
Lex had sent his father and Martha off to the hospital, had Clark escort Byron to the hospital with them, and then sat down in the study to gather his thoughts for a bit.
He loved Angela and her now being in full control of her powers wouldn't change that, he knew they would have to just train them, and steady them.
An hour later he had his father back in the manison, he had a broken arm, and Pete had a broken wrist. Martha was lucky with just a little brusing and no injuries, and Lana was now taking the time to get to know Byron.
Angela was still hiding upstairs he didn't blame her and gave her space for the time being. Martha and his father were in the kitchen talking business and he sat in front of the fire with a tumbler of scotch. He only hoped that things wouldn't get bad like this again any time soon, but it was Smallville anything was possible.
