Rick's POV
"Angel? Can you come help me with this?" I called from the living room. It wasn't long until Christmas came and with Kate gone for a bit I had the chance to finally wrap her gifts. She had stayed over last night after our heavenly shower and left earlier today. Around the same tie Angel showed up from Shaky's.
"What did you need?" Angel asked as she came down the stairs. She then eyed the forty inch TV box that sat in the middle of the living room. "Don't tell me that's Kate's" she said.
"Come on I need help wrapping it" I said, grabbing the wrapping paper and lining it up with the bottom, how the fuck was I gonna wrap this?
"Why wrap it? Just put a bow on that bitch" Angel said as she crossed her arms.
"That's real smart and all, but I don't want to take away the joy of opening a big ass present" I said. Angel shrugged and held the paper as I started to wrap it around the box, making sure to tape it along the way. I then put a to and from sticker on it.
"So where are you gonna put it?" Angel asked.
"I'll just leave it in the sun room" I answered. I then picked it up and started to awkwardly walk over to it. Angel followed.
"Why did you get her a TV? Are you going for pussy points or something?" Angel asked. I set the box down and sighed.
"Yeah Angel that's exactly it, pussy points" I said. Angel let out a light laugh.
"So is that all you got her?" she asked me. I laughed.
"No, I really went all out this christmas, even with the lost time" I explained.
"You act like going into a coma is fucking normal" Angel pointed out.
"What do you want me to do? Dwell on it?" I asked as I walked back into the living room to wrap more gifts.
"You know I gotta wrap my gifts too, wanna trade places after you're done?" Angel asked.
"That means you're cleaning it," I answered.
"Whatever," Angel replied. She then went back up the stairs, leaving me by myself. My phone then started to ring. I looked to see it was Kate. I felt the familiar feeling of joy and answered it.
"Hey Kate" I greeted.
"Hey, what are you doing?" Kate asked. I looked in my hand, I was holding a brown leather jacket. Kate had a black one that she normally wore and I thought a brown one would look cute on her. So when I saw it I picked it up.
"Wrapping your gifts" I answered.
"Rick, you didn't have to get me anything," Kate replied.
"Well I love getting things for people I love, and you are at the top of that list, beside's how much did you get me?" I asked.
"Fair point, mind if I come over later? We can hang out? Maybe have some sex?" Kate asked. I started wrapping the jacket and laughed.
"You're on speaker" I said.
"Did anyone hear me?" Kate asked.
"You bet your ass!" Angel called from the stairs.
"Angel heard you," I said. Kate laughed.
"Angel doesn't count, we talk about shit like that all the time" Kate said.
"Good point, but yeah you can come by anytime" I said.
"Good, see you in an hour or two," Kate replied.
"Alright sounds good. I love you" I smiled.
"Love you too," Kate said before hanging up.
Shaky's POV
I turned into Humphrey's driveway and parked right behind him. If his mom came home I wanted her to be able to just park without worrying about my dumb ass. I turned the car off and stepped out, walking up to Humphrey's front door and ringing the doorbell. Once I did I saw the doorbell cam move slightly so I flipped it off.
"Fuck you Humphrey, you gonna let me in or what?" I asked. The door clicked and I stepped inside. Once there I shut the door and walked into the living room to see Humphrey wrapping gifts.
"Hey Shaky, I messaged Rick earlier and he said he was doing this, thought it was a good idea" Humphrey explained. I sat next to him and picked up one of the gifts which was a Michael Myers shot glass, not too far from it was another one which was the exact same.
"You bought two of them?" I asked. Humphrey looked up from his wrapping and then went back to it.
"Yeah, you know how Rick and Kate are horror nerds, so I got one for both of them," Humphrey explained. I nodded and set the shot glass down.
"So did you want help? Did you want to hang out? Why am I here?" I jokingly asked.
"Well I wanted to just kind of hang out but after I texted you I messaged Rick to see if he wanted to hang out, that's when he told me he was wrapping gifts and then I realized I hadn't even started. So if you want to help out you can but I want to get this done, after this we can just chill, go out, or whatever you want" Humphrey said. I nodded and grabbed a roll of wrapping paper. I guess I would do the shot glasses.
"I finished mine the other day, I don't know what we're all doing for christmas but I'd really like to see you guys" I said.
"I'm sure we'll meet up and hang out, what I'm really worried about though is new years" Humphrey said.
"New years? Why new years?" I asked.
"Because most likely, Kate's Parents are gonna throw another party and that means food" Humphrey explained.
"Is your mother not cooking on christmas?" I asked.
"Well yeah, she makes the best ham you'll ever eat, mashed potatoes, corn, it's kind of a tradition. But it's not gonna be with you guys unless you really want to come out" Humphrey said. He had a point, pretty much everyone is gonna want to spend time with their families, but we're a family.
"You know as corny as it sounds, you, Lilly, Kate and Rick, Angel especially, I consider you guys my closest family. Yeah I have my aunts and all that, but they only really come around on the holidays, so they're gonna show up, act like they see me all year round, give me some christmas money, and leave. I usually never stick around, I'll sit in my room and try to avoid all the bullshit, that's why I was so happy when you guys invited me to thanksgiving. That was the first holiday in a long time where I felt as though I mattered, like I fit in" I explained. Humphrey put the present to the side and began wrapping another one.
"You know, Lilly is probably gonna come over, if you want you can as well" Humphrey offered. I felt warmness in my heart and smiled.
"Really?" I asked.
"Of course, my mom's always asking me to invite someone, make the place feel more lively. When it's just us two it's so quiet and it gets awkward. So yeah you can come, maybe even bring Angel, besides you guys are family, and I would love to have you" Humphrey said.
"Thanks, I really don't know what to say" I said, I was so touched by such a simple offer.
"You said thanks, that's enough. I was gonna ask Kate and Rick if they wanted to show up at some point as well, I know they probably will" Humphrey said. I smiled at the thought of being surrounded by family. Actual family.
"I love you guys" I said.
"We love you to Shaky, never forget that" Humphrey replied. We went back to wrapping gifts. This time in silence. After about three minutes though Humphrey spoke again. "So how was the sex yesterday?" he asked. I laughed.
"I don't think me and Angie have came like that since our first time" I answered. Humphrey laughed.
"Yeah, me and Lilly did multiple rounds, it's funny how heat works. Just gives you the energy to go again and again" Humphrey said.
"Yeah, I know. You dont think Kate and Rick are having anymore sex than usual do you?" I asked. Humphrey laughed again.
"I swear those two are the horniest couple I've ever seen, I'm more concerned about whether or not they have Kate on birth control," Humphrey explained.
"Oh I'm sure they do, you don't just forget something like that. Besides he's gotta be wondering why she's smelling sweeter than usual" I explained.
"Holy shit, I dont know if I can be around her for long this christmas, I mean fuck me Kate's already off the charts, were all lucky but let me just say Rick… he got lucky man" Humphrey said.
"Yeah he did, but I love Angie, and I'm glad we ended up together" I said. Humphrey nodded and grabbed the last gift on the floor. I just sat back and waited for him to finish as we talked.
"I feel the same way about Lilly, but come on. If Kate was laying there, spread wide open for you, and was just begging you for a good fuck, you wouldn't do it?" Humphrey asked.
"Your saying you would cheat on Lilly?" I asked back.
"No, I mean like… if I was single or had her permission" Humphrey explained.
"Under those circumstances then yes" I answered.
"I tell ya Shaky, Kate could be a model if she really wanted to. Have you ever seen a wolf with golden fur? I haven't, even if you google it" Humphrey said. I laughed.
"Yeah, fur like that is so rare, I don't know how she got it. Yeah her mom is blonde but she's not golden, as for the model though, Kate's to smart for that, she wont want to do anything of the sort" I explained. Humphrey sighed.
"I know, I wonder what Lilly is gonna do once she's older, '' Humphrey said.
"I had this talk with Angel yesterday, she said she wants to work homicide, like one of those detectives at a crime scene" I explained.
"No shit really? What makes her want to do that?" Humphrey asked.
"I think she just finds things like that interesting, as long as we're together though I'll support her, I love her so much and I just want to see her happy" I explained. Humphrey nodded again.
"I think I want to write scripts, for movies and stuff, Lilly kind of likes that stuff too, maybe we could be a couple that writes scripts" Humphrey suggested.
"Maybe, I know you'll do great though if that's what you decide, believe it or not I kind of want to be a director, dad tells me to think more realistically though" I explained.
"Hey man, don't listen to that. If you work for it you can do it, I believe in you" Humphrey said as he finished wrapping the present.
"Thanks Humphrey, so now what do you want to do?" I asked.
"Well… I'm kind of hungry, want to go grab something?" Humphrey asked. I stood up and began walking to the door.
"Sure what do you want?" I asked.
"Hmmm, mcnuggets?" Humphrey suggested.
"Of course you want mcnuggets" I said.
"What does that not sound good?" Humphrey asked.
"Sounds great actually, lets go get some mcnuggets" I said jokingly as we walked out the door and over to Humphrey's car.
Rick's POV
I pulled into Kate's driveway and put the truck in park before stepping out. After wrapping the gifts Kate had messaged me to come over to her place, she had something important to discuss. This sounded like a sex invitation to me. But when I pulled in I saw her car and another one that I hadn't seen before. I knocked on the door three times and waited. It wasn't long until Kate answered.
"Hey, it's been a while since I've been here, I missed the place" I said. Kate didn't look happy to see me though, she looked worried. She simply stepped to the side to let me in. my smile faded and I stepped in, Kate closing the door behind me. "Something wrong?" I asked.
"I just need to tell you something," Kate said. She then walked into the living room. I followed her with the worst thought in my mind. I hope she didn't want to break up. I don't know what I would do if that happened. I would be shattered, everything had gone so perfect. The relationship, the dates, the sex, and it was just yesterday we did it as well, it all seemed so romantic. That couldn't be it, she loved me and promised she would never leave me and I did the same, and seeing her with another guy would most likely drive me to suicide. But that couldn't be the reason, she loved me. I know she did. But then what was the problem? Entering the living room I saw Winter sitting on the smaller couch.
"Hey Winter" I greeted. She waved to me with a smile.
"Hey Rick, take a seat" she said. Now this was really worrying me. The suspense was killing me and I needed to know what the problem was. I sat down and Kate sat next to me, she still looked nervous and scared.
"Kate… what's wrong?" I asked. Kate looked over at Winter and then back at me. "Kate I love you, if something is wrong please tell me so that I can make it better, is it Garth?" I asked.
"No it isn't Garth," Kate answered.
"Then… what is-"
"I'm pregnant," Kate said.
