I love writing the banter between Harry and Hermione, and I hope you all enjoy it too

Hermione was happier than she had ever been. Being with Fred brought some lightness to her life, that she didn't realise she had been missing. They managed to see each other at least once every day, and when they couldn't, Fred managed to send some small notes to her flat.

"I'm telling you, Harry, he's perfect!" Hermione sighed dreamily, not recognising herself. "It's like he knows exactly what I want or need, without me having to tell him anything."

Hermione had met her best friend for lunch, as it was a tradition of them since they were teenagers. She was excited to gush about Fred, and tell Harry all about him, and their little dates.

"He does sound perfect," Harry says cautiously. He was staring at her like she was a maths problem that needed a solution. "But do you know anything substantial about him, Mione?"

Hermione frowned, not liking what Harry was implying. It's true that sometimes Fred acted a little odd around her, and seemed to appear out of nowhere, and it looked just like magic, but she knew him enough.

"I know him well, and he knows me well too, and he was always there when I needed it," Hermione replied, a little hotly maybe, but she didn't like the way Harry was talking. "I thought you would be happy I'm meeting someone new."

She hasn't had much luck when it comes to relationships, and sometimes, she even wonders if it's worth going through all of the hussle that people go through to find a boyfriend. But she never felt like she was trying too hard with Fred, and that made her happy. Hermione just wanted Harry to see it.

Harry's face softened and he smiled at her. "Of course I'm happy for you, I just worry. You're like my sister, so I feel like I need to protect you."

"Harry, I'm flattered that you think you need to protect me, but I'm a big girl. I can take care of myself." Hermione smiled at him, before looking down and blushing. "Besides, we're going slow. We haven't even kissed yet."

"Oh…why not?" Harry blurted the question, making Hermione glare at him. "I'm serious, Mione! This just sounds weird, you know?"

"Is not weird!" Hermione replied forcefully. "Is very sweet, and he's being a gentleman, something you should think about."

"Someone is being very protective," Harry sing-songed, making Hermione glare in his direction. "You know I'm just messing with you, right? If you're happy, then, I'm happy too. It's nice to see you smiling so big."

"Thank you, Harry," Hermione said softly, glad to have her best friend on her corner.

After she came back home, she tried not to dwell on what Harry said, about how weird it was that she and Fred hadn't kissed yet. Deciding to take matters into her own hands, Hermione made a decision.

She was going to kiss Fred the next time they met.
