this chapter was written when I only had four hours of sleep, so sorry in advance if it's all over the place lol

Hermione was meeting her mother for brunch, knowing she hadn't been the best daughter these last few weeks. She was going to make it up for her mother, taking her to their favourite brunch restaurant.

"You have a spring in your step and you haven't stopped smiling ever since we met," Helen Granger said, looking at her daughter with a glint in her eyes. "Something you want to tell me?"

Hermione smiled, holding one of her mum's arms and squeezing lightly. "Maybe I have met someone."

"Hermione, sweetie! This is amazing!" Helen exclaimed, holding her daughter's hand and smiling. "What can you tell me about him?"

Sighing happily, Hermione managed to tell her mother all about Fred and how he made her feel. "It's like I was always waiting for him, you know? And when it was the right time, we finally met. Almost like a fairy tale."

"I'm glad you met someone so important to you, sweetie." Helen was looking at her like she never had seen her daughter before. "It's almost like you're a new person, Hermione, one that's taking a lighter step in life."

Blushing, Hermione couldn't say that her mum was wrong. Fred had opened her eyes in a way that she never thought would be possible; it's like he brought a side of her that had been dormant for years.

"So…when can your Dad and I meet the man who changed my daughter's views on how to live her life?" Helen asked, when they had arrived at the restaurant, making Hermione stop dead in her tracks.

It wasn't that she didn't want her parents to meet Fred, but it wasn't too soon for him to meet her parents? She never introduced any of her ex-boyfriends to her parents, afraid of what they would think, but with Fred it was all different.

"Who knows? Maybe after Valentine's Day? We can have brunch at my flat," Hermione said, entering the restaurant and trying to play it cool. "It's a good compromise for you, Mum?"

Helen looked at her daughter, and Hermione wondered what she was seeing: the glint in her eyes? The blush that seemed to be permanent on her cheeks? The way she seems to smile easier now?

"I think it's an amazing idea, sweetie, and I can't wait to meet my son-in-law," Helen said, winking at her and Hermione rolled her eyes at her mother's cheekiness. "Are you ready to stuff yourself with all the delicious food and your favourite cocktails?"

Hermione giggled, knowing she was exactly like her mother when it came to brunch.

"I don't think I've been more ready before," Hermione replied, walking towards a table and sitting down. "It seems like we choose the busiest day to come here."

Looking around all the patrons, Hermione wondered if Fred would like there, until a flash of red hair caught her attention. A red hair that she knew very well.

'What is Fred doing in the same restaurant that I always frequent with my mum?', Hermione thought, before standing up and walking towards the front of the restaurant.

It looked like her mum would meet him sooner than later.
