Now we're bringing it forward to line up with Harry's story, so there is a bit of a time jump. As usual I don't own the Harry Potter series, I'm just adding my own Character to the mix :)
Chapter 7
Two years later
"Come on everyone, Platform 9 ¾ this way" Molly turned to make sure that we were all following her. Percy strutted alongside her, head held high, Ginny on her other side struggling to keep up.
"Come on Mickey! It's our third year aren't you excited?" a beaming smile and sparkling brown eyes met mine as Fred knelt to pick up a book that had fallen from my trolley. Over the last couple of years he had really shot up in height and his features had started to fill out more. That once boyish grin now became more of a mischievous smirk that turned into a softer smile just for me.
"I can't wait, may be Hufflepuff can win some games this year!" I replied excitedly. In our second year at Hogwarts, the twins and I had both made it onto our respective Quidditch teams. The twins both played the role of beater, and I became Hufflepuff's seeker. I immediately wrote to Remus telling him how excited I was. He replied back telling me how proud he was and that I was following in my father's footsteps. Dad was the Captain of Gryffindor's Quidditch team in his final two years of school, but he played Chaser.
"Dream on Evans!" George chuckled bumping my shoulder with his. Yep, you guessed it, they still call me Evans, but this year that could all change. You see 1991 was the year that my brother Harry Potter would be making his debut at Hogwarts. I was both nervous and excited at the same time, would he know who I am? Would I recognise him? These were questions that I had been asking myself all summer.
"Hey, we have a good team thankyou very much" I retaliated with a laugh. We laughed and bantered as we made our way to the barrier that would lead us to the Hogwarts express. Ron followed behind us struggling to keep up.
"Okay Percy you first" Molly smiled at her third eldest son. Percy was the talk of the Weasley household the day the letters arrived. He had received his Prefect badge and Molly couldn't stop going on about how that was now three Prefects in the family. Fred and George took every opportunity to take the mick out of him, which as you can imagine caused a lot of arguments.
"Okay Fred you next" Molly turned to the twins and scowled at the mischievous looks on their faces.
"He's not Fred I am" George frowned and crossed his arms. You see the twins were very good at winding their mother up, the thing is, she fell for it every time.
"Honestly woman, you call yourself our mother" Fred rolled his eyes, playing his part with ease. Ron chuckled and I busied my self with checking my trolley, trying to hide my smile.
"I'm sorry George" Molly sighed and waved them towards the barrier.
"Only joking I am Fred" Fred laughed as he ran through the barrier narrowly missing a slap to the back of the head.
"Excuse me! I was wondering…how do you?" A small boy made his way over to us. His jet-black hair a mess atop his head and his striking green eyes hidden behind a pair of roughly repaired circular glasses. I stopped in my tracks. It couldn't be, could it? The resemblance was uncanny, and those eyes reflected my own. Harry. It had to be.
"How do you reach the platform? you take a good strong run at the wall" Molly smiled motherly "First year dear? Its Ron's first year as well" she placed a hand on his shoulder and guided him towards the barrier. She gave him a reassuring nod and we all watched as he took a small run and disappeared into the wall between platforms nine and ten. I shook my head, forcing myself to concentrate and make my way onto platform 9 and 3/4. Skidding to a stop I revelled in the sight of the scarlet red engine that was the Hogwarts Express.
"Mickey over here" Fred waved me over to where he was standing with George "Are you okay? You look like you've seen a ghost" I looked up at him forest green meeting milk chocolate.
"Fred, the dark-haired boy standing with your mum…is it?" I asked my voice shaky. I hadn't seen my brother since we were both orphaned on that fateful Halloween. Harry was only one when our parents died, and he was sent to live with the Durselys.
"I'm not sure Mickey" Fred placed a reassuring hand on my shoulder "Come on let's find a compartment before they're all full" I nodded and glanced back towards Molly. She gave me a small smile and waved at us before we made our way onto the train.
Fred and George chatted animatedly on the journey, planning their next prank on filch by the sounds of it. I tried to focus on the book in front of me, but I couldn't. I couldn't help but think about what Harry might know. Had he been told he has a sister? Was I allowed to tell him who I am? I was brought out of my thoughts by the compartment door suddenly sliding open. In the doorway stood a petite girl around the same age as Harry, her bushy brown hair cascaded around her shoulders and a scattering of freckles could be seen gracing her cheeks and nose.
"Sorry to disturb you but have you seen a toad anywhere?" She cast a confident glance over us. I took a second to take her in noticing that she was already in her uniform, only she had the black tie of the new students.
"We haven't sorry" Fred spoke up. She sighed and thanked us before leaving. I raised an eyebrow and turned back to my book. I must've read over the same page at least twice before giving up and turning to gaze out of the window. The scenery flew past as we crossed the viaduct and before long, we arrived at the station. The students almost fell out of the carriages as they made their way onto the platform, the first years all gathering in front of Hagrid and the other students made their way towards the various forms of transport. I stuck close to Fred and George not wanting to get lost in the sea of blue, green, yellow, and red lined robes.
We made our way into the Great Hall for the sorting ceremony and quickly dispersed to our respective tables. McGonagall had met the first years just outside the giant wooden doors and was giving them her usual welcome to Hogwarts speech.
"Shell!" I smiled as I sat down next to the brown-haired Hufflepuff that I called my boyfriend. Cedric Diggory. He asked me out in our second year, and I spent a couple of weeks of summer with him and his parents.
"Hey Ced" I smiled as he pulled me into a hug. My smile fell as I caught Fred glaring at me from the Gryffindor table. I frowned and watched as he quickly glanced at Cedric then turned to the end of the hall as Dumbledore stood to address the students. Fred wasn't keen on Cedric and hasn't been since the confrontation outside of potions in our first year. I never really understood why, we were best friends and have been for a while but after I came back from the Diggory's he seem to only speak to me around his family or when I asked him something. Sighing I turned to face the teacher's table watching as the golden owl on the plinth spread its wings.
"Welcome back to another year at Hogwarts, in a few moments we will welcome our new students and begin the sorting ceremony" He scanned the room, his wrinkled eyes peering at us from over his half-moon spectacles.
"I wonder who'll join us this year" Cedric slung an arm around my shoulders and puled me closer to him. I turned back to him and raised an eyebrow, watching as he grinned at me. I rolled my eyes and turned towards the doors as they opened, my breath shaky as Professor McGonagall led the new students in. I scanned the crowd carefully looking for that familiar mess of dark hair. Harry stood next to Ron a nervous look swirling in his eyes. I felt for him, remembering how terrified I was in my first year, waiting to see what house I would be put in.
"I will call your names and then place the sorting hat on your head" McGonagall's brisk Scottish accent echoed around the hall. Silence fell as the first names was called.
"Susan Bones" I petite redheaded girl made her way up to the stool before the professor placed the tattered hat on her head.
"Hufflepuff" Its voice rang out clearly, a deep gravelly sort of voice. The little girl smiled as she made her way over to our table.
"Hey welcome to Hufflepuff, I'm Michelle" I smiled brightly and offered my hand to her. She thanked me and shook it before taking her seat.
"Hannah Abbot" this time a blonde-haired girl made her way to be sorted.
"Hufflepuff!"
"That's another one" Cedric smiled widely as he introduced himself to the new member of our house.
"Thanks I'm really excited to be here" She chuckled and took her place beside Susan.
"Draco Malfoy" we watched as a pale blonde-haired boy made his way up to the stool. His hair was slicked back almost greasy looking.
"Slytherin" he smirked as he made his way over to the Slytherin table. Molly and Arthur had told me about the Malfoys, how they were purebloods that thought they were better than everyone. Draco's smugness gave me no reason to think he wouldn't be like his parents.
"Ronald Weasley" Ron made his way up the stairs, pushing his bright ginger hair out of his eyes.
"Hey, isn't that Fred's brother?" Cedric placed a hand on my back leaning in close to whisper in my ear.
"It is, definitely a Gryffindor" I nodded and watched with anticipation as the sorting hat was placed on his head.
"Another Weasley Eh? I know exactly where to put you…Gryffindor!" The Gryffindor table erupted with cheers as Ron made his way over. I caught Fred's eye and gave him a huge grin, only receiving a nod in return. The ceremony continued as student after student were sorted into their houses, until it was the turn of the girl we had met on the train.
"Hermione Granger" McGonagall called out lifting the sorting hat high as the girl made her way up to the stool. She looked to be giving herself a pep talk as she sat down and nervously waited for her house to be called out.
"I'm going to say Ravenclaw" Cedric whispered.
"Are we betting now?" I chuckled and watched as a smile spread across his face.
"2 Galleons?" He joked running a hand through his messy brown hair.
"Done" I smiled and turned back to the events in front of us. The sorting hat seemed to have a small moment of deciding.
"Gryffindor!" its words echoed around the hall and once again the Gryffindor table erupted in cheers and shouts of joy. I turned to Cedric with a smug grin.
"Guess that's 2 Galleons for me" I laughed as he rolled his eyes and gracefully handed me the galleons.
"Harry Potter" McGonagall's accent once again rang out across the now deadly silent hall. I turned in time to see Harry make his way towards her.
"Did she say Harry Potter?" Hannah whispered excitedly.
"She did" I breathed out, the enormity of Harry's celebrity status crashing over me. It wasn't a secret that Harry was famous, he did defeat the greatest dark wizard after all. Now you're probably thinking I'm jealous, but to tell the truth, I'm really not. I couldn't deal with the constant questions about my scars and condition, it would genuinely drive me crazy.
"Not Slytherin, not Slytherin" Harry whispered as he squeezed his eyes shut. I bit my lip trying to devoid my face of any emotion not wanting to risk anyone catching on to the charade.
"Not Slytherin eh? You could be great y'know and Slytherin will help you on your way to greatness" The Hat turned Harry's head to punctuate each word "No? better be…Gryffindor" We simultaneously sighed in relief at the hats declaration. The twins welcomed him to the table with pats on the back and Percy shook his head smiling. George winked at me, and I couldn't help but smile, at least I knew he would make some great friends in Gryffindor and that he would be looked after. Now it was only a matter of figuring out not only telling him who I was but how I would tell him. If only my best friend would speak to me, then I could work it all out. It was going to be one very weird year.
Is Michelle going to tell Harry? Will Fred ever speak to Michelle properly again? stay tuned to find out :) Please Read and Review as they help me to carry on writing this story :)
