"Early morning meetings." Professor Banner yawns, Professor Satyr laughing next to him as he looks at the Red Dorm Head.

"You really have a problem with getting up early Banner. Maybe go to bed early." The Yellow Dorm Head laughs, smiling at his colleague, though a sweatdrop on his head.

"That's true. Besides that, in a few weeks there will be a field trip AND the dorm renovations for the Slifer Dorms. It's a lot of paperwork." With that being said, a somewhat distraught looking Professor Crowler, the Blue Dorm Head collapsing on one side of the table. "Ah, Dr. Crowler, how are you doing on this … interesting morning."

Dr Crowler looks at Professor Banner with a loud sigh and a half glare. "Thanks to everything going on, I may need to take a few vacation days." Crowler rubs his temples, the rest of the faculty filtering in, with various looks of pity and amusement at Crowler.

With the rest of the faculty and teachers going into the room, Chancellor Shepherd looks at the faculty with a kind smile. Everyone, even Crowler, straightens up as he clears his throat. "In one week, we will be hosting the School Duel. Today we're here to talk about who's going to go up to represent Duel Academy."

Many teachers start chatting, before Crowler pipes up. "Obviously, Zane. I mean we haven't lost once since he started. Not only that he's the best student in his year and in the school." Crowler states, every word oozing with pride. Many other teachers start to agree before Shepherd coughs slightly.

"Unfortunately, North Academy has issued that their duelist is a first year, and when I spoke to Zane yesterday, he said that he wanted someone else to get the spotlight." Shepherd smiled slightly, seeing the shocked and somewhat distraught look on Crowler's face. "Besides that, Zane has put out an interesting contender: Jaden Yuki." The look of horror on Crowler's face grows, seeming to match the joy on Professor Banner's. "He's the best duelist in his year, with the second best grades to boot. I think that he should be the perfect representative."

Crowler starts sputtering before basically shouting. "In … In that case what about Alexis Rhodes? She's just as skilled as Yuki-"

"I already asked her and she said she agrees with Zane that Jaden is the best option." Shepherd interrupts shaking his head. That's when Professor Satyr speaks up.

"While I cannot deny that Mr. Yuki is a great duelist, I would object if we don't include Bastion Misawa. He's a good duelist on his own, and he's THE top of his year in terms of grades." Shepherd nods at the Satyr's statement, humming slightly. While still somewhat dejected, Crowler crows out that he agrees with Satyr's idea.

"While I cannot disagree with the fact that Bastion is the best when it comes to paper tests. Jaden, however, has shown to be exceptional in real duels." Banner speaks up, Pharaoh in his lap as he's petting his fat cat.

After a few minutes of senseless squaballing, Nurse Fonda's eye starts twitching before slamming her hands into the table. This silences the four men, turning to look at her fully. "This is Duel Academy. Let's have the two duel." She says exasperated, before Shepherd nods his head.

"I agree with Fonda. We'll have Jaden and Bastion duel for the spot in the school duel." Crowler grumbles at this, but sighs, being resigned to this.

"Very well, though I don't see why we need to let him even try. He is a Slifer." Crowler mumbled this under his breath, causing Banner to shoot him a side glance.

Chancellor Shepherd chuckles, adjourning the meeting, his thoughts carrying him back to the events after the exhibition match.

Chancellor Shepherd is sweating, the mere presence of Seto Kaiba seeming to fill up the room. His cold calculating eyes scan the room, before turning to focus his attention on the chancellor. "Seems like one of your teachers holds himself and the Obelisks in high regard. To the point it's detrimental."

Shepherd gulps and sighs looking at the richest man in the world. "That is unfortunately true, but Crowler is a good teacher when he's actually trying … I just wish he'd help the other students more."

Kaiba gives a slight smirk, as he looks down the window. "So I have to ask, Why do you think that he hates Jaden Yuki? While I was here I heard him ranting about him."

Shepherd chuckles nervously, shaking his head. "From what I can tell, when Mr. Yuki ended up dueling him to get let into the academy … And one turning him."

At that, a loud almost mocking laugh is heard from Kaiba, startling Shepherd who looks at him bewildered. "That does sound like Jaden. I'm glad." A body shaking laugh quakes from Kaiba, a seemingly genuine smile on his face.

"Uhm sir … may I ask why you … know Jaden."

It takes a while for Kaiba to stop laughing, his face returning to his resting bitch face, though there is a prideful smirk on it. "The way I know him is that he's my nephew." Shock adorns Shepherd's face completely, staring at him as Kaiba looks at Shepherd. "I want you to make sure that information doesn't leave this room, understand? He doesn't want it to get around, you know." Kaiba hums, looking towards where the Slifer dorm is.

Shepherd takes a moment to process this. In front of him, the almost infallible Seto Kaiba just belted out in pure laughter about his nephew. Shepherd sighs, nodding his head, a smile adorning his own face. "If you wish sir … Actually, I do plan to have him be a part of the School Duel. I think that would be a good time to show off his skill, and his 'pedigree'." Shepherd chuckles, as Kaiba looks at him.

A few minutes of awkward science, Shepherd starts to sweat as he thinks he said something wrong, until Kaiba nods his head. "I agree. It'll be the perfect moment for Jaden to show off. Not only that, it'll be a good chance to completely thrash North Academy." Kaiba scoffs, before grabbing his briefcase. "I'll leave this up to you Shepherd." And with that, Kaiba leaves the Chancellor's office, and suddenly it felt like a weight was let out of the room.

Shepherd sighs, though a smile gracing his lips softly.

'If Vellian knew, he'd be kissing the ground that Jaden walks on.' Shepherd laughs to himself, heading to his office to get together the two emails to send to Jaden and Bastion.

The other teachers and staff start to filter out, talking about getting ready for the duel, along with Crowler dragging his feet as he leaves. Left behind are Satyr and Banner, smiling at each other though Satyr gains a bit of a mischievous smile.

"Well, it seems like our best students will be dueling. I believe this should be a good exercise for Bastion." Banner gets a slight tick on his face as he smiles at his coworker.

"Well I cannot disagree that Bastion is skilled, but he doesn't have the record of wins that Jaden has." Banner keeps his slightly strained smile as he lets out a bit of a chuckle.

Satyr looks at him, his own smile getting strained. "However Jaden doesn't have Bastion's brain. Hell you haven't been to his room, three of the walls have been used alone trying to figure out a way to neutralize Jaden's deck."

Banner hums as he hears that, before glancing at the Ra head. "Well, I wouldn't count against Jaden to be worried about something like that. After all, he's bested a copy of Yugi's deck. I'm sure that Jaden will defeat Bastion."

"Enough to bet on it?"

Banner smiles at that, nodding his head. "What are we betting with?"

"How about a favor?" Satyr offers a smirk on his face. "The winner can get a favor from the loser."

Banner mulls it over, a soft smile on his lips before an evil-ish glint appears in his eyes. "Yes, I think that would work wonders. Though I say we don't tell the other what the favor is before then."

"Agreed." Satyr held out his hand, causing Banner to take it when they shook.

Jaden sneezes, whipping his arm slightly as he glares into nothing. "Seriously, is someone talking about me? That's like the third time today." Jaden grumbles, his friends around the table looking at him with sweat drops.

"I think you might be coming down with a cold Bro." Syrus is the first to say anything, a chuckle coming out of him.

"Quite so, though you seem to have quite the immune system if you haven't really gotten that sick." Bastion pipes up, smiling as he has a course book in front of him.

Jaden just sighs, returning to the homework that he put off in front of him. "Sheesh, Crowler really has a hate hard on for me." (A/N: I'm never using this joke again) He mumbles under his breath, glancing at Bastion's paper and seeing he has 10 more questions.

Jaden's group, sans Alexis, who was busy helping Nurse Fonda, are in the main cafeteria. Chumley hums, drawing in his notebook while Syrus and Bastion are working on some spell card homework.

"To be fair Jaden" Chumley speaks up, looking at him. "From what I've heard you sleep in about 90% of his classes." Jaden simply scoffs at that with a slight smile, as the group starts to laugh.

"Meh. Not really mad myself, it at least makes it more of a challenge." Jaden chuckles and gets back to work, before both Jaden and Bastion's PDAs buzz. Both boys raise an eyebrow before opening their PDAs, humming slightly.

Both of their eyes widen as they read the message, looking across the table at one another. "Well … this is a chance I didn't think I'd have." Jaden remarks, a mischievous grin on his face.

Bastion matches his grin with one of his own, a glint in his eye. "At least now I can put my theory into practice." They both stand up, almost in sync as Jaden's smile simply grows.

"Oh I'm going to enjoy this. I promise you Bastion, I'm not holding back." Jaden states, holding out his hand as Bastion takes it, both of them shaking before they both turn, heading to their dorms.

Syrus and Chumley look between each other, before getting up and running to Jaden, whose smile hasn't died down yet. "Uhm Bro, what was that about?"

"Yeah Jay, that was weird even for you."

"Well according to the email I got, Bastion and I were volunteered for the School Duel. However, we're going to have to duel for the spot." Jaden states with a complete look of excitement on his face.

The other two look between each other, before they laugh. "You two never HAVE had a real duel." Syrus mentions, rubbing the back of his head.

"Yeah, not only that, but Bastion's been trying to find out a formula for months now." Chumley adds, which makes Jaden chuckle.

"And I'm sure by now he's thought of at least three ways to counter my deck." With that, Jaden enters their dorm room, Yubel appearing beside him, as the other two look between each other.

'You're really excited about this.'

'Of course I am. Though … You saw the other part on it right?' Jaden hums, thinking towards the email again.

"Hello Yuki-Kaiba, you and Misawa have been nominated to take part in the School Duel. However, as there was no consensus between the staff, you and him will duel tomorrow in the morning. The winner will be the duelist taking part in the Duel against North Duel Academy for the honor of the school.

Best Regards,

Chancellor Shepherd.

PS. , has instructed me to tell you, if you are to take part in the School Duel, you'll be using your REAL name. Good luck."

Jaden smiles as he looks at Yubel. 'I don't want to lose … I think it's finally time to use THAT.'

This causes Yubel's eyes to widen, before a long toothy grin appears on their face. 'If you say so, though, it's been YEARS since you've used it.'

'It's why we need to do some practicing.' The evil glint in Jaden's eyes causes both Syrus and Chumley to shiver, though both boys smile at their friend.

"Well whatever you're planning, I hope you win Bro, after all this is you we're talking about." Syrus smiles, which causes Chumley to nod in agreement as Jaden basically ignores them.

We see Bastion sitting in front of several long sheets of paper, multiple scribbles and formulas put on it. Bastion is almost hunched over, mumbling under his breath before he tears the paper to shreds.

"Damnit!" Bastion groans, throwing the shreds to the ground, leaning back as he places his hands on his head. "Jaden has so many good cards in his deck. Especially his various Heroes. Just simply sealing away Polymerization doesn't work." Bastion then looks back at his desk, revealing numerous cards, spells and traps designed to stop fusion summoning. "The main problem is that it could put me at a disadvantage too."

Bastion simply groans, closing his eyes. "The best way to beat Jaden … it would have to be simply limiting his summoning as it is. Though I'd have to have a card that lets me summon without said restriction." Bastion sits there with his eyes closed for a while longer, humming to himself.

Suddenly his eyes shoot open as he jumps. "THAT'S IT!" He calls out as he starts to root through his desk, pulling out a large case filled with numerous cards. Going through the case he pulls out a set of three cards. "This is the perfect card, I'll have to do some practice duels but … this is probably the one." Just then, Bastion Roommate walks into the room.

"Hang on guys, let me grab my deck." Turning to Bastion, he stands in shock as Bastion gets this somewhat crazed look in his eye.

"Kris! My good friend, I need your help! If I'm going to beat Jaden I'm going to need a LOT of duels with my new deck." Bastion grabs Kris, causing him to audibly gulp.

"W-well w-we were just about to head to the duel arena … why?"

"I am dueling Jaden for position for the School Duel, I must win!" Bastion declares confidently, before Kris's smile widens like mad.

"Alright! You can come with us!" He triumphantly marches in and grabs his deck. "And you need someone with fusions right? Well I got the most amount out of our grade so let's do this."

Bastion nods his head as he and his roommate walk out to join some other students, a mix of Ra and Slifer. Kris then turns to look at Bastion, after explaining his friend's situation. "So when's the duel? Cause I want to be there when you whoop Jaden." The Slifer Reds look at each other, slightly scowling, but the smile never dying down.

"It's tomorrow!"

Cue Anime Fall ™ .

Everyone's bustling, several students wearing Ra colors rush into the Obelisk Duel Arena, a small group of them with several bags under their eyes. "Dammit it Bastion." Kris groans out, a yawn coming out of him. "You could have let us sleep." The others nod their heads at that.

Syrus looks at the group, and raises an eyebrow. "Are … you ok?" He asks the group out of worry.

Kris merely groans, along with the other Ra students before he speaks up. "Bastion's an asshole. Kept us up all night trying to perfect his deck." The others groan again as he glances at Syrus. "I feel like I'm going to pass out, but it'll be worth it to see Bastion beat Jaden."

Syrus snorts at that slightly, causing Kris to glance at him. "Jaden was the same way, though he didn't duel me or Chumley funnily enough." Syrus frowns slightly. "I wonder why."

Before they could get into a bigger discussion, Dr. Crowler takes the stage, going off on a little rant at the start. "But enough about how Zane should be the duel representative. We have the best student in the Ra dorms, Bastion Misawa!"

Bastion proudly walks onto the arena, his head held high as he nods his head at , who inwardly sneers.

"And he'll be going against some kid." Cue a loud rage coming from the Slifers, including Chumley and Syrus.

Jaden sweat drops slightly, laughing to himself as he stands across from Bastion, a large smile on his face. "Well with that … introduction out of the way. Are ya ready Bastion?"

"Yes I am." Bastion then smiles as he pulls out a deck, both of them shuffling before they stand across from each other, their duel disks activating.

Misawa: 4000

Yuki: 4000

(A/N: I'm changing like … a lot of cards in this. So be ready to see different stats/abilities for monsters.)

"Ok Bastion, I'm starting off first!" Jaden calls out as he draws his first card, looking over his hand with a half smirk. "Don't have a great opening hand, so I'll throw a monster in face down defense, along with a card facedown." said cards appear before Jaden.

'Could that be Clayman? That's the only card with a high defense. Then again he said he didn't have a good opening … and that facedown could be a card that lets him summon an Evil or Elemental Hero.' Bastion hums as he draws his card, smiling to himself. "I activate Terraforming!" Jaden raises an eyebrow at that. "I use Terraforming to bring 'Chemical Lab SJ' to my hand! Which I subsequently activate!"

Bastion reveals the field spell, the card itself having a futuristic looking lab with beakers and test tubes strewn about it. "Oh that's a new card!" Jaden remarks, Bastion chuckling. "A card I put into my deck last night, for this duel!" Bastion activates his field spell slot, putting it in.

"I activate Chemical Lab SJ!" The futuristic lab appears around the pair, Jaden's eyes narrowing as he glances around. "You know, many labs have safety precautions." Bastion starts, Jaden looking up at him. "The safety precaution for this duel … Only fusion summons using the "Chemical Bond" cards are allowed to be used." Bastion calls out, as Jaden chuckles.

"Clever, that would definitely defeat me easily."

[Chemical Lab SJ

While this card is on the field, fusion summons can only be used via the "Chemical Bond" cards. Once per turn, you can add 1 "Chemical Bond" card from your deck to your hand. -eddon monsters on the user's side of the field cannot be destroyed by battle.]

Bastion smiles as he then continues. "I'm going to summon my Hydrogeddon to the field!"

[Hydrogeddon Type:Dinosaur/Attribute:Water

ATK: 1600

DEF: 1000]

Bastion then hums looking over his hand before sighing. "I have nothing else and I am nervous so-"

"Nope!" Jaden calls out, cutting Bastion out who raises his eyebrow slightly. "I activate 'Phantom World'! This is a trap card that, while it stays on the field, I can activate one field spell of my own." Jaden smiles as he pulls out his deck, searching through his deck. The card itself shows what seems like an urban metropolis, however on top of it is a massive forest seeming to be merged together.

[Phantom World

This card ignores any other field spell active. Activate one field spell from the user's deck. The field spell cannot be targeted or destroyed by card effects while this card is on the field.]

Jaden smiles at Bastion's perplexed look. "I activate 'Attack Coliseum'." Jaden calls out, as a stadium appears mixed with the lab that Bastion had activated. "Now you HAVE to attack." Jaden smirks even wider as Hydrogeddon starts making a swirling attack, blasting it at Jaden's facedown. "Of course, if you do attack you get 300 more LP."

Misawa: 4000 → 4300

The attack finally connects, revealing a Mystic Tomato, which laughs as it gets destroyed. "Mystic Tomato's effect activates."

"So does Hydrogedon's, though I choose not to activate it." Bastion comments as Jaden smirks.

"Too bad, I summon Yubel!"

The half dragon monster appears behind Jaden, wrapping their clawed hands around his neck, seeming to half hug him.

[Yubel Type:Fiend/Attribute:Dark

ATK: 0000

DEF: 0000]

"It's still your turn, Bastion." Jaden chuckles, as Yubel pulls away from him, flying to the center of the field.

*Line Break*

Syrus raises an eyebrow, while Kris looks on in confusion. "I thought he ran a fusion based Hero deck."

"He does, though he's told me he always had Yubel in his deck. I've never seen that Mystic Tomato though." Syrus responds, leaning forward as Jaden starts his turn.

Alexis approaches the boys, her eyes glancing around at the dueling arena, leaning to look at it closer. "So that's what he meant." She states offhandedly, everyone other than Syrus and Chumley, go gaga about the "Queen of Obelisk ''.

"What do you mean Alexis?" Chumley asks, pulling out a bag of chips, looking at her.

Alexis shrugs and sighs. "I met with Jaden before the duel and asked him his strategy. He was being vague, since he had an idea that Bastion would try to negate fusion summoning, so he's not going to use it as a crutch." The other two look confused, glancing at each other as Alexis shrugs again, watching the duel.

Jaden looks over his hand, Yubel seeming to tap their foot out of annoyance. 'Calm down, we're just going to have some fun.

Yubel sighs and nods their head, glancing maliciously at the dinosaur. "Normally, the best way to avoid the more … drastic side effects of the Colosseum, is to have your monster be in defense mode." Jaden states as he grabs a card and turns it around. "However, with this card 'Yubel's Eye' I'll force you into action." Jaden activates the card, the eye in the middle of Yubel's head widening as it glows.

[Yubel's Eye

This card can only be equipped to a monster with "Yubel" in their name. If a monster equipped with this card attacks a monster, your opponent takes half the position's points. If this card is destroyed, add it to your hand.]

Bastion's eyes widen as Jaden points towards Hydrogeddon, as Yubel seems to glow. A pair of massive root-like vines appear underneath Yubel, sending the pair at the gaseous dinosaur. The two vines pierce Hydrogeddon's neck, soaring through him as the vines are wrapped in hydrogen, slamming into Bastion's chest.

Misawa: 4300 → 3500

Yuki: 4000 → 4300

Jaden then sets a card facedown and grabs a card. "The biggest worry I have when it comes to Yubel, is their own cost. However, I summon Black Ptera, which has the ability to return to my hand after it's destroyed by a card effect. Which is Yubel's ability." Jaden smirks as another pair of vines shoot from the ground, grabbing the winged pterosaur. The dinosaur shrieks, before turning into the shining lights, which get dragged right to Yubel. Jaden then picks up the card, adding it to his hand.

"I see. Not only does it give you a monster that can't be destroyed, but also a way to keep them without leaving yourself open to other monsters." Bastion remarks, drawing a card on his own. Grimacing somewhat as he looks at Yubel, while running through various scenarios in his head. Bastion looks at his full hand, humming to himself. Bastion sighs as he sets a monster in face down defense, along with switching his Hydrogeddon into defense as well. He then throws a card facedown. "Not much I can do right now. Your move mate."

Jaden smirks at that as he draws, glancing at his hand and then at Yubel. "I set a card face down. Now Yubel, attack Bastion's Hydrogeddon!" Jaden calls out, spreading their wings as two more vines appear.

"Not so fast, I activate my trap card, Chemical Bond EX!" A chemical set appears, making Jaden narrow his eyes. "By banishing the Hydrogeddon on my field, one in my deck, along with the Oxygeddon I have in my hand, I can summon, Water Dragon!" The two gaseous dinosaurs appear on the field, before the three called out monsters merge together.

[Chemical Bond EX

Target one fusion monster that lists "-geddon" in your extra deck, banish the needed monsters and summon the monster. This counts as a fusion summon. If the summoned monster is destroyed, banish it and summon the fusion material from the banish zone.]

The three monsters jump up, colliding together as a sound of rushing water fills the air. A massive serpent made out of water crashes into the ground, emerging from a pool forming out of it, the water dragon raises its head.

When this card is destroyed, or removed from the field, summon 2 Hydrogeddon and 1 Oxygeddon from your graveyard.]

(A/N: It always confused me that Water Dragon wasn't a fusion monster, nor had an ability outside of it's can't be summoned and the other two. So I fixed that :D)

Water continues to flood the field, catching Jaden's side as well. "When Water Dragon is fusion summoned, I can send all other cards on the field to the graveyard." Jaden's eyes widen as Bastion says that the water is destroying various cards. "And that includes your Yubel!" Water flushes at Yubel's waist, causing them to groan, disintegrating as Jaden adds 'Yubel's Eye' to his hand again.

Other than Attack Colosseum, thanks to the effect of Phantom World, Water Dragon is the only monster/card really on the field. "Damn, that was a good strategy, and since it's my turn I won't be able to deal you damage." Jaden praises, as a spot in front of him glows. Bastion raises an eyebrow at that. "You see, Yubel has a second effect if it's destroyed." Bastion's eyes widen at that as Jaden sighs a bit. "I didn't think it'd be this early when I have to do this. I use Yubel's ability to summon 'Yubel - Terror Incarnate'!"

From the glowing monster spot, a dark wind starts blowing, the summoning spot grows. A massive figure forms in the center, two massive black and purple wings wrapped almost like a cocoon around a center object. Massive clawed feet are at the bottom of the thing, as the wings begin to unfurl revealing a body with a massive eye at the center. Two pairs of massive dragon-like claws lay at the side, and at the top, where there should be a head, comes two long dragon necks leading to the heads they are a part of.

[Yubel - Terror Incarnate Type:Fiend/Attribute:Dark

ATK: 0000

DEF: 0000]

Bastion looks up at the monster as Jaden sighs. "It's still my battle phase, so Yubel, if you would be so kind." To those sensitive to duel spirits, Yubel chuckles almost darkly, by the mixture of surprise on Bastion's face, along with Jaden's somewhat annoyance. Yubel's center eyes glow slightly, as they roar, shaking the stadium, however Water Dragon is still on the field.

Yuki: 4300 → 4600

"Wait I thought-"

"Yeah, Yubel's Eye is back in my hand. So Yubel can't deal you damage." Jaden states nonplussed, as he hums to himself slightly.

'To be fair, he got you good with that trap and Water Dragon combo, since he won't take any damage.' Yubel growls out in Jaden's mind, as the center eye in their body begins to glow.

'I know, but still I'm annoyed and impressed. I was thinking that your first form would be enough.' Jaden sighs and chuckles as he looks at Bastion. "Good job, that combo definitely helped you … or at least normally it would." Jaden says, setting a card facedown.

Bastion raises an eyebrow at that. "What do you mean?" As he says that, the glowing eye at the center of Yubel's body widens ever so slightly, as Yubel raises their two dragon heads. Before unleashing an even louder roar then before, as the ground shakes. "What in the blazes?!"

As the roar continues, Water Dragon shrieks, shattering as the three monsters that made it appear from the pool. They shiver in fear, as Yubel continues to roar, however they're not destroyed as Jaden laughs. "Well I didn't expect that. Guess Water Dragon's ability came second after Yubel's."

"That was Yubel's ability?"

"Yep!" Jaden looks at Bastion with a smirk. "At the end of the turn, Yubel will destroy all other monsters on the field. Similar to your Water Dragon, however it won't destroy this." Jaden states, tapping the ground under him, Bastion giving a weary laugh.

"I see … that would explain why you didn't set any card to protect Yubel."

"Yeah … Yubel's like a boss fight, with multiple stages." Jaden laughs as well, rubbing the back of his head.

Bastion hums, drawing his card, looking at all the cards on the field. "I summon Carboneddon in attack mode."

[Carboneddon Type:Dinosaur/Attribute:Earth

"I then activate Abundant Gases, since I have an Oxygeddon on my side of the field, I can summon a second Oxygeddon."

A second pterosaur comes to the field, spreading its wings as it screeches. "Now I activate Bonding - CO2, which allows me to fusion summon!"

[Bonding - CO2

This counts as a fusion summon. Send 1 "Carboneddon" and 2 "Oxygeddons" from the field to the graveyard. Special summon 1 "Fire Dragon" from your Extra Deck.]

The monster roars, more flames being kicked up as it coils around. "Much like my Water Dragon, this card destroys all other cards on the field. However, you take 300 damage per card destroyed." Bastion states, the flames from the serpentine dragon coiling around.

Jaden's eyes widened at that. "I activate Yubel's Revenge! Even if this card isn't on the field, YOU MUST DO YOUR BATTLE PHASE!" Jaden calls out, flinching as the fires consume all his monsters.

[Yubel's Revenge

When this card is activated, your opponent must attack one "Yubel" monster that's face up on your field. This effect stays for the rest of the turn even if it's destroyed.]

Bastion raises an eyebrow as Jaden's field is reduced to ashes.

Yuki: 4600 → 3100

"Why would you activate that … unless Yubel has another form?" He almost growls this out as Jaden smirks, nodding his head, though his eye does twitch slightly.

Once again, the spot in front of Jaden glows, as a draconic form similar to Terror Incarnate yet much darker appears. Spreading its wings, a few people groaned and dry heaved, as instead of a large eye, a full-on face was in the center of the body.

"Oh god! It's hideous!" Crowler calls out, pressing himself to the wall as Jaden turns pointedly to the teacher.

"And so are you! Now shut up, this duel is about to end." Jaden almost growls, which leads to Yubel chuckling in their UN form, a deep guttural noise that was almost music to Jaden's ears.

'Calm down. You know I don't care about this appearance any more.'

Jaden breaths slowly, looking at Bastion. 'Yeah, I know. I still hate when someone talks bad about you.' Jaden then chuckles as Bastion's eyes are almost out of his head. "See Bastion? This is what I was talking about. Yubel is powerful." Jaden states, obvious pride in his voice if you could look for it.

Bastion takes a deep breath, looking at the last two cards in his hand. "And I have to attack that monster too." He mumbles underneath his breath, looking over the situation in his hands. 'This is the only way.' Bastion states to himself as he activates Pot of Greed, drawing his two cards. "I activate "Lost Material". When this is activated, I can summon one fusion monster from my banished zone to the field by banishing it's material … unfortunately it doesn't count as a fusion summon." A card with a small cube of potassium is seen being in a trash can on Bastion's side.

[Lost Materials

Target one fusion summoned monster that lists needing a "Chemical Bond" or "Bonding" spell card in its effect. Banish the listed monsters from your graveyard and special summon that monster, ignoring its summoning conditions. Destroy it at the end of the turn]

"Come back to the field one more time, Water Dragon." A second coiling serpentine dragon appears, the rushing water hissing against the flames as both monsters look at the much larger one.

"Ok, but how's that gonna help Bastion?" Jaden smiles, his heart beating as, so far this is definitely one of the best duels he's had since he got in Duel Academy.

"I'm glad you asked, I activate my Unstable Bonding card! With this, I fuse my Fire and Water Dragons to summon Unstable Dragon!"

[Unstable Bonding

This card can only be used to summon Unstable Dragon.]

The two monsters curl around each other, the pair hissing as steam shoots off their bodies as they merge together, coiling and spinning. The further and further up they go the more deafening the hissing sound is. From the coiling stack of water, fire and steam, comes a serpentine head, which roars.

[Unstable Dragon Type:Dragon/Attribute:Wind

ATK: 3500

DEF: 2800

2 fusion monsters with different attributes

This card can only be fusion summoned by the effects of "Unstable Bonding", and cannot be summoned any other way. When this card is removed from the field, summon the monsters used to summon this monster in Attack Position, ignoring summoning conditions. You can tribute this card, destroy all other cards on the field, and draw three cards.]

The monster roars, the fire and water seeming to conflict with itself as it glares at Yubel. Bastion breaths slowly as he looks at Jaden with a smile. "This is my last ditch effort. If I can't wipe your field with this well then … I'm going to have to attack. I activate Unstable Dragon's ability, Unstable Eruption!"

The dragon raises up, roaring into the air, the arena shaking as it starts to glow. The monster begins to swell, exploding as fire and water lashes out. Bastion draws three cards, sighing as he pulls a Hydrogeddon, Carboneddon and an Oxygeddon, none of which can help him. In front of Bastion, a smoldering flame and a puddle start shifting, before the twin dragons shoot up once again.

There's a stillness to Bastion, wondering what Jaden could potentially have up his hand, and as he was about to declare an attack, Jaden's voice rings out. "I activate UN's ability, by banishing my Mystic Tomato, I resummon Yubel to the field!" Jaden calls out, pride and exhilaration brimming from his voice.

Yubel appears in the center of the field, their wings spread wide, taunting the two dragons. 'And we draw the curtain on this duel.' They say almost poetically as Jaden laughs a little.

"Honestly, I didn't think we'd have to go a full cycle, that's really good Bastion. Not only that, this is a deck built to negate my Hero deck. Unfortunately though, I was one step ahead." Jaden smiles, as he sees Bastion sigh, a smile on his own face.

"Yes, that is true. Might as well end this with style. My dragons, Steam Blast." at Bastion's command, both dragons raise their heads, swirling energy in their mouths. They release matching beams of high pressure water and intense flame at Yubel, who shields themself with a wall of vines. A massive eruption of steam covers Jaden's side of the field, before a pair of vines shoot out, stabbing into Bastion, who sighs out disappointed.

Misawa: 3500 → 0700 → 0000

Crowler stays on the lower side, seeming to deflate as he says through the microphone. "And the winner and representative of our school is … Jaden Yuki." He groans and sits down, utterly defeated by Jaden winning … again.

However, no one's paying attention to him as a few Ra's rush Bastion, congratulating him for his tough battle, while Jaden's friends approach him. "That was awesome Jaden."

"Totally lishous." Chumley adds to Syrus, as Jaden sheepishly rubs the back of his head.

"Good job." Alexis praises, getting a much bigger smile on Jaden's face, as he then turns his head to Bastion, who seems to be almost dead on his feet.

"Damnit Bastion, looks like not getting any sleep last night's catching up to him." Kris mutters, stumbling as he and a few other Ra's pick Bastion up. Kris turns to look at Jaden, who has a brilliant grin. "Good job, you know he's going to spend the next few days coming up with a way to counter Yubel."

Jaden shrugs, Bastion grumbles out. "Next time … I'll win." He then gives out a loud yawn. "But for now, I'm going to bed." With that, Bastion's eyes roll up into his head, collapsing against his dorm friends, all of whom groan from his weight as they start carrying him off.

Jaden laughs loudly at that, his shoulders shaking as he and his group start leaving. "That's hilarious!" Jaden stumbles a bit, some bags forming under his eyes. "Damnit … those duels with Yubel are getting to me."

Syrus, Chumley and Alexis get sweat drops as they all chuckle a little, helping Jaden away from the crowd of students and to the spot in the forest. They sit him down on the stump as Jaden yawns loudly, shaking a bit. "So you stayed up all night." Alexis states pretty matter of factly, looking down at Jaden, who simply laughs.

"Yeah … Yubel's the first deck I ever had." Jaden says sentimentally, touching the side deck. "Been years since I used it."

"Why?" Syrus speaks up, which causes Jaden to chuckle softly, though with a bit of a sad tone.

"After a while, no one wanted to duel me cause they didn't like trying to get around Yubel's forms." Yubel chuckles as they appear, causing the other three to look at them.

"It didn't help that a lot of them got butthurt over losing, and tried to steal me from Jaden. I'd make sure they wouldn't try that again." Yubel growls that last part, Jaden chuckling a bit.

"Wait, people tried to steal you?" Chumley speaks up, looking at the duel spirit.

Yubel shrugs with a chuckle. "There's only a few copies of me in the world. Anyone would love to sell my card for hundreds. Besides, my abilities are devastating."

"They have a point there." Alexis chuckles softly.

Jaden laughs as well, nodding his head. "So after about the fourth person not willing to duel me, my dad's friend came around to challenge me." Jaden has a small smile. "I won, though his heroes gave me a run for my money. I'm sure you heard of him though he was a huge deal a few years back." Jaden states, making the others lean in thanks to the suspense. "Kouyou Hibiki." Jaden states with a wide smile, though that quickly dies as Chumley and Syrus look confused.

Alexis however, gasps softly. "Oh god. Not only are you the nephew of Seto Kaiba, but you also know Kouyou Hibiki?" Jaden laughs at that, nodding his head.

"Yeah, he gave me a bit of a … copy of his deck before he passed." Jaden has a sad smile on his face, putting the Yubel deck up as Jaden yawns again. "He left me a few cards which I put into my first version of the Elemental Heros deck, and then one thing led to another and I have my Evil Heros."

Syrus and Chumley nod at that, understanding wanting to honor someone by using their cards as Alexis's eyes narrow slightly. "Then why have you only been using the first generation?"

Jaden laughs at that, rubbing his head. "I … I honestly haven't thought of using his full cards. Especially 'The Earth'." Jaden says, laughing softly as he looks at his hands.

Alexis sighs, before pulling Jaden into a hug, his face against her chest. Syrus chuckles at that and pats Jaden's back. "Take your time bro, we'll have a party at the dorm when you get there." With that, he pulls Chumley away, who simply laughs at that.

"Don't go doing the dirty!" This causes the two first years to turn red as the others leave. Once the two are alone, they share a small laugh, with Alexis sitting in Jaden's lap, simply enjoying the other's company as they hug.

A few weeks before everything that's happening, a certain boy walks off a boat, grumbling a bit. "I'm going to throw that old jerk into the ocean for that. He threw all my cards into the ocean." The boy punches the large block of ice next to him, as he starts walking, not noticing a lot of cards in the ice.

"I'm going to win, I'm going to show everyone that The Chazz isn't some loser." Chazz Princeston proclaims, a sneer on his face.

Though deep beneath the ice, a spirit starts to stir, trying to roar, though trapped in the ice, only a single claw is free. 'My dear prince!'

AND CUT!

Before anyone asks, Fire Dragon doesn't exist so I made CO2 his requirement, because it's the only thing that made a lot of sense. So don't judge it!

Anyway, how did you guys like it? Jaden's duel against Bastion has always been one of my favorite cause: Raw intelligence and strategy vs Pure instinct and luck. It still pisses me off that he gets shafted in SEASON 2! So expect to see some cool Bastion plays from me!

With this, we're almost at the curve of season 1 where things start to get serious, and I'm so excited for that!

Next time, we get to see what Chazz has been up to, and how became the top North Duel Academy! Though, we'll be getting two more chapters for Magi: The Gamer of Magic, so take care everyone. See you there and I enjoy everything you guys talk about in the reviews.
