About a few minutes afterwards, Fleetwing finally landed onto the ground into a forested clearing.
Olivier hopped off, while Sasha remained upon Fleetwing. Her hair looking like a rat's nest.
"sorry about that, Sasha. Fleetwing gets a little excited sometimes."
Sasha glared at Olivier. "you did that on purpose to get back at me, didn't you?"
Olivier said nothing. "...maybe."
"whatever. just help me off this thing before I ruin the upholstery."
Olivier sighed as he climbed up, and helped Sasha down onto the ground.
He then spoke "Revert", and changed Fleetwing back into his base Falcon form.
Sasha cast a glare at the bird, and then fixed her hair back.
She then looked, and gazed at a beautiful lagoon fed by a mountainous waterfall.
"so, this is you and Anne's "special place?" spoke Sasha. "it...actually does look wonderful."
yeah, this is where me and Anne shared our first real date...AND, had our honeymoon."
Sasha blushed at this thought. "wait, so does mean you and Anne-"
"yep." answered Olivier, bluntly.
Sasha turned beet red as 'naughty' thoughts invaded her mind.
She then looked at the Lagoon again. "in retrospect, this would be a great place to do that."
Olivier smirked. "oh?, and where would you do something like that if you could."
"Anytime, Anyplace." answered Sasha, bluntly.
Olivier fell silent for a moment. "...that does sound like you."
"wait...is that-" Olivier looked to where Sasha was pointing. "ANNE!"
The pair ran over to the shore of the lagoon where Anne was just standing there.
Anne then turned, having noticed that she was no longer alone.
Sasha stopped immediately, stunned at seeing her friend's physical condition.
Despite it being five months, Anne's belly was so big she looked like in her EIGHTH month.
"Ollie...Sash!, you made it." said Anne, softly.
Olivier approached, and carefully hugged his pregnant wife. "you okay, annie?"
"of course." said Anne. "I just...wanted to come here."
Sasha finally approached the two, her eyes still on Anne's swollen waist.
"are you...SURE that you're okay, Anne?" spoke Sasha.
Anne smiled, and then walked up and hugged Sasha. "of course I am. Why do you ask?"
"Well, you look like a balloon ready to POP!" answered Sasha.
"Sasha does have a point." spoke Olivier. "You really shouldn't stray from home in your condition."
Anne paused for a moment. "I know...in fact, I have a feeling that TODAY might be *THE* Day."
Both Sasha, and Olivier's eyes widened in shock. "FOR REAL!?"
"yes...and, I think I want to have my baby here." continued Anne.
"I mean...I am about to bring new life into this world, a world that I love.
And I want the first thing that my child sees of Amphibia is it's Beauty. to see it like *I* see it."
Anne then gazed at the Lagoon. "I also have many good memories tied with this specific place."
Anne looks at Olivier. "This is where we first proclaimed our love for each other.
Where we had our very first date...and, more importantly: this is where our baby was "made."
Olivier smiled as he gazed at his wife's face. "I remember."
"it just feels right to me that this is where our baby should be born." continued Anne.
"In a way...my life REALLY began here. and, I want it to be where my child's life literally begins."
Olivier took a moment to ponder his wife's reasonings. "I suppose that makes sense."
"It does seem...Poetic." spoke Sasha, finally.
"But what I don't understand is how you are having the baby NOW, and not later."
"I have a theory." spoke Olivier.
Sasha looked at Olivier. "what, then?"
"Magic."
Sasha rolled her eyes. "of course: "a wizard did it."
Anne gave Sasha a 'look' like a disapproving mother. "SASHA."
"yeah, fine...sorry." said Sasha, looking down. "You were saying?"
"Well apart from me literally being half-witch, Anne holds one of the Calamity Gem's powers." explained Olivier.
"and considering we were...'powered up' when we...did it, the baby might've been affected."
"Olivier thinks his or our magic powers is helping it develop faster." added Anne.
Sasha crossed her arms, pondering this.
"So, in other words: You two had "Super Sex", and the kid may already have powers."
Olivier scowled at Sasha's wording choice. "yeah."
Sasha smirked, and then lightly punched Anne's shoulder. "you go, girl."
Anne blushed, feeling a bit flustered. "th-thanks."
"So, how awesome WAS it to *bang* with anime powers?" asked Sasha, smirking. "gimme DETAILS."
Olivier began glaring at Sasha, his face red as the Amphibian Moon.
"Well, we kinda created a thunderstorm when we...(*ahem*) "made love in the sky." answered Anne, awkwardly.
Olivier palmed his face. "...titan just kill me now."
"HOT DAMN. so that's why that storm from that day was raging for HOURS." smirked Sasha.
Olivier groaned as Anne and Sasha kept on talking.
...But then 'salvation' finally came.
"ah!" exclaimed Anne.
"Anne, what is it?" spoke Sasha, startled by Anne's sudden reaction.
Anne grunted as she held her belly...feeling a rising pain surge through her.
"uhh...Ollie. Sasha...I think-I think it's happening." spoke Anne, fearfully.
Both Olivier and Sasha stared blankly. "whut?"
"AHH!" exclaimed Anne, clutching her belly. "okay, I *KNOW* now it's happening!"
Sasha looked, and saw a liquid splash from between Anne's legs...and, she knew it wasn't urine.
"Shit!, Anne's water broke!" exclaimed Sasha.
Oliver ran to his wife as she started to go into labor. "It's okay, annie...I got you." said Olivier, softly.
"G-GOD, this hurts..." groaned Anne, gritting her teeth. "It's like I'm being...T-TORN APART!"
"Sasha, help me get Anne into the water." said Olivier.
Sasha nodded, and proceeded to help Anne into the lagoon
(and hoped to whatever God existed that the water was clean enough for this.)
Olivier then removed Anne's underwear and rolled her dress up (which made Sasha avert her gaze.)
"NGHHHH!" groaned Anne, loudly.
"Anne, are you alright?!" spoke Sasha, worried.
Anne glared daggers at Sasha. "NO I'M NOT ALRIGHT!, I'M HAVING A F**KING BABY!"
Sasha flinched, started at Anne's sudden rage (and her eyes turning blue as well.)
"just breathe, Annie...it will be okay." said Olivier.
"DON'T TELL ME HOW TO BREATHE!" exclaimed Anne (still in rage mode.)
"YOU DID THIS ME, CLAWTHORNE! THIS IS YOUR GODDAMNED FAULT! I HATE YOU!"
Olivier ignored the daggers Anne was verbally throwing at him.
He knew from the past five months that this was her hormones talking, not Anne herself.
(and that once this was all over, Anne be back to normal and start apologizing ten times in a row.)
"She's really in pain...can't we do ANYTHING to stop it?!" asked Sasha.
"No, but we can lessen it." spoke Olivier. "I remember a spell that my Aunt once taught me.
One where we can lessen the pain one is feeling by sharing the pain."
Sasha grimaced at this...but when Anne yelled out again, she made her choice.
"How does the spell work?" asked Sasha.
"Touch her, and repeat these words." explained Olivier.
Sasha placed her hand upon Anne, and then listened to what Olivier said next.
"With this spell...I do declare." began Olivier, his eyes closed. "Let the pain be shared."
Sasha closed her eyes, and spoke the words along with Olivier.
(("With this spell, I do declare. Let the pain be shared."))
As Sasha and Olivier said these words, their bodies flared with their respected magicks.
Anne's cries soon became softer...though now Sasha and Olivier winced, feeling pain in their bodies now.
It wasn't intense, thankfully...but they felt ever contraction that Anne was feeling.
"god...this re-really hurts." groaned Sasha.
"endure it." spoke Olivier. "the more we feel...the less Anne does."
Sasha let out a deep breath, and tensed her body. The pain was unrelenting, but she didn't relent.
She was the Guardian of STRENGTH, afterall...so she could take it.
After an hour passed by, Anne's breathing became rapid. Olivier held her in his arms, while Sasha held her hand.
"I...I think...I think it's c-coming...OUT!" exclaimed Anne.
Olivier looked to Sasha. "Sasha, get ready. once the baby is out, you'll need to bring it up."
Sasha nodded as she and Olivier continued to hold Anne.
"Nghhhh...NGHHHHH!" Anne groaned as she tried to push out her still unborn child.
"I think I can see it's head!" spoke Sasha.
Olivier looked to Anne. "one more time, love. just one more push...you can do it."
Anne breathed heavily. "okay...Okay. I can do this...I have to do this."
Anne breathed rapidly, and then shut her eyes as she focused all of her strength.
In her mind, she had flashes of her life up to this point.
Memories of her childhood, her parents (that she missed greatly...)
Memories of Sasha...and, Marcy.
She remembered what a carefree slacker that she used to be.
And, of course. That one decision that changed her life forever: Stealing the Music Box.
"NGHHHHHHHH!"
Anne's mind then flashed her memories of Amphibia.
The moment she first arrived...her meeting Sprig, and living with the Plantars in Wartwood.
She remembered all the crazy misadventures that she had, and all the hard lessons that she learned.
She remembered...reuniting with Sasha, and the moment she first stood up to her.
Anne then remembered...the day she first met Olivier.
Time seem to slow as she lingered on those precious memories, savoring them.
Anne then shot her eyes open...which were now glowing bright blue.
(("NGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH!"))
Anne screamed, her body flaring with energy as she went 'Super Anne'
And just as quickly as it happened, Anne's power faded and she groaned. her energy drained.
Sasha quickly dove under water, leaving Olivier alone with Anne.
Eventually, Sasha resurfaced. inhaling a deep breath of air.
...and, she was holding something small in her arms.
Anne felt exhausted, completely drained of energy...but managed to smile. "is...is that..."
Sasha looked at the child in her hands...and then smiled weakly at Anne and Olivier.
"it's a girl." said Sasha, handing the infant over to Anne.
Anne reached out, and grasped the wet infant and held her tight.
She and Olivier looked at their baby, noting how apart from the expected cream-colored skin
she also had short hair that was color bright blue (not unlike Anne's hair was just a moment ago.)
The baby started acting fussy, shaking it's tiny arms around.
"hey there, small fry...calm down, you're okay." said Anne, softly.
The baby finally stopped and opened it's eyes for the first time.
Her right eye was a hazel color, while her left eye was dark brown.
So in an odd way, she had BOTH her parents eyes.
"great titan...look at her." spoke Olivier, in awe. "she's here...she's REALLY here! our...baby."
Olivier was at a loss for words, still astonished that he was really someone's father, now.
It almost didn't seem real...and, yet here she was. Their Baby...Their Daughter.
Anne cried happy tears, also astonished that she was now a mother.
Anne Boonchuy, who was once the literal poser child for being irresponsible.
The slacker who never put effort into anything. who let herself get talked into stealing a magic music box.
...NOW, she was someone's mother.
This child that she was holding in her arms, barely a minute old
was dependent on HER to care for her, to protect her...and above all: LOVE her.
Anne frowned, finally realizing in this moment what her own parents had been trying to teach her.
She felt regret at her failure to return home, and wished she knew a way to tell them that she was okay.
To tell them how sorry she was, and most of all...that they now had a Granddaughter.
But, she couldn't. she could only hope they were okay (and maybe had another child to help them cope.)
and try to be the person that they always hoped she would be, a more responsible person.
As Anne hugged her baby, Olivier huddled close to her.
"she's beautiful." spoke Anne.
Olivier nodded. "she is...like her mother."
"I can see some of her father in her, too." said Anne.
Sasha approached, getting a better look at the baby.
and while normally a tough, reserved person...Sasha couldn't help but smile.
"Sooo...what will this ankle-biter be called, then?" asked Sasha.
Anne and Olivier looked at each other...THEN, at their child.
"Amity." spoke Anne. "Ami", for short."
Sasha looked puzzled. "Amity?...that's an odd name."
"We have our reasons." said Olivier. "PERSONAL reasons."
"ah...gotcha." said Sasha, deciding not to press the subject further.
As the sun set, fireflies had begun to appear. Ami reached out, attracted at the blinking lights of the bugs.
Both Anne and Olivier smiled as they watched their new daughter.
"Welcome to Amphibia, Amity." spoke Anne, softly. "I know you'll love it here."
Ami cooed as a firefly landed on her nose...she then let out a tiny sneeze.
Anne smiled, and began to sing a soft lullaby.
"Now I find myself in the wild unknown, With the frogs and toads and I'm far from home.
But there's so much here to discover, One leap after another. Hop into the adventure.
Gotta ribbit, ribbit. Jump on in it.
Welcome to Amphibia, Life don't get much crazier.
When you're a normal girl, Living in another world.
What you gonna do? You gotta ribbit, ribbit. Jump on in it.
Welcome to Amphibia, Life don't get much crazier.
So ribbit, ribbit. live it in Amphibia."
[End of Part Eight]
[Author Notes]
I took my time with this one as I wanted to get the emotions of this scene just right.
Apart from some funny moments, this chapter details the birth
of Anne and Olivier's daughter in Amphibia.
(which I intend to be something special, as in this AU
Ami is the first "human" birth in Amphibia.)
And, like Anne herself stated, I thought it'd be meaningful for her to be born
at the hidden lagoon where Anne and Olivier had so many tender moments together.
(and, well...being born where you were conceived is also ironic.)
I also put in a call back to The Owl House (mainly Eda and Lilith)
with Olivier using the "Pain Sharing" spell to lessen Anne's suffering during labor.
(*don't we wish all husbands would do that for their pregnant wives, don't we?)
I also added in the original lyrics of the Amphibia Opening Theme
reworked as a lullaby by Anne, as it just felt right given the context.
