Humphrey pulled in past the trees to get off of the main road. We had decided to park out of view of the street so that just in case someone saw us. Humphrey had explained to me that most likely we weren't supposed to be there, but no one else ever was and there were no signs. This was just in case. On the way I made sure that our guns were all loaded up as Humphrey drove. His weapons were fine as he was using his pussy stick as Rick called it, and a 1911 for a side weapon. I didn't have one, but at the same time I Don't think I really needed it. The only reason Humphrey would was because he needed something for close range.
We stepped out of the car after parking. Humphrey only took his gun once I handed it to him. He slipped his side arm into his holster and we were off, making sure our phone notifications were on so we knew who was out.
"Ready?" Humphrey asked.
"Oh yeah, ready" I replied. Humphrey smiled at me briefly before turning to the rest of the area.
"Alright, follow me" he instructed. I took my safety off and began following him to his destination. I wasn't yet sure what his plan was because we hadn't really discussed it. We moved at a good pace but not too fast as to make as little noise as possible. Humphrey swung his sniper over his back, and took out his pistol until we got to one of the towers at the sand plant. It was a little bi away from the main area, but still had a great view of it. Not only that but it was really high up. Once we got there Humphrey holstered his pistol again and turned to me.
"Feeling confident?" he asked.
"Of course. Why?" I asked.
"Because, I'm gonna climb this to see if I can get a better view of the area," he said. Just then he reached up and grabbed on to the bars that led up. I stopped him though, grabbing onto his shoulder.
"You're going up there?" I asked, worried for him.
"Don't worry I climb this thing all the time. Just cover me for a second okay?" Humphrey asked. I shrugged and turned around to the open space. Behind me I heard Humphrey start to climb what must have been at the very least three stories. While I waited I couldn't help but feel anxious about coming across somebody. I guess I would just shoot first and ask questions later. I heard my phone go off, making me take it out to check. It seemed as though Shaky was already out of the game. Why was I not surprised? I looked behind me and up the tower to see Humphrey was almost at the top already. Again I turned around and decided to explore on my own. If I came across Lilly and Angel together I would just spray. But given how they already took out Rick's partner, I Would assume that they were on his tail instead. I just had to listen out.
Rick's POV
Of course Shaky was the first to go out, he normally is. I can only think of one time that he actually came back and won the game for his partner, which that time just so happened to be Humphrey. I didn't have the time to be thinking about that right now though. I had just lost the girls after they missed every shot on me. From the looks of it, Lilly had an AUG while Angel had only brought a single pistol. It seemed small but I guess that was the point. I know that she liked to get around as fast as she could.
Once I finally lost them and Shaky had sent out his text, I was on my own. So far there was no sign of Kate and Humphrey. But I think I would be finding them shortly. For right now though I wanted to circle back and find the girls again as they tried to find me. I Wanted to get the jump on them. I crept around as quietly as I could, listening out for any sound that my ears could pick up. I heard a stick break in the distance along with the sound of leaves crunching. Whoever was walking was trying to be quiet but failing miserably. I crept over to the noise, making sure to step on dirt as I approached. In the short distance I could see where the tree line ended, leading to the huge open space of the sand plant. I could see no one over there though.
I kept creeping towards the footsteps until eventually I peeked around a tree and saw Lilly looking for me. Angel and her must have split up to cover more ground. Big mistake though, although this could have been a trap. Angel might have told her to make subtle noise on purpose because there was no way that Lilly would walk so noisily. She was smarter than that. Before I took my shot I looked around to see if I could pick up anything, taking a few sniffs to see if I could even pick up a scent. Only Lilly though. I shook my head and took aim. I would tap her once and then quickly move out. As I took aim however someone else got to her. I heard her get hit with a light "thack" and a small grunt from her as she turned to the direction. I did the same only to see that there was no one. It had come from the sand plant. How though?... oh shit.
I ducked down just as another shot came to me, of course it was Humphrey and his stupid pussy stick. I took off towards his direction, trying to take as much cover as possible, while also passing Lilly. Humphrey took another shot and missed again. It would only be a matter of time before he would start leading his shots. I only had a few more seconds. I heard the notification go off on my phone as I continued running. Again I was shot at, this time it hit a tree in front of me. Figures. I made one last dash to a small building on the outline of the trees and slid into the wall, kicking myself off as to not fully run into it with my feet. I took quick cover and then leaned out to spray at the top of the tower. I had a close view now and could just barely see him trying to roll around as much as he could. The space up there was small, "serves him right" and because of the height he couldn't just jump down. I sprayed my entire clip left and right slowly until I was out of ammo. I took cover yet again to reload. As I did this I took in my surroundings, trying to be careful not to get caught. I couldn't stay here long. I took another sniff of the air and caught no one's scent. No one.
I now tried to brace myself to take another look but decided against it, if I peaked again Humphrey would have a shot lined up. Damn it. I would have to make another dash. I prepared to make a run for it but just before I did I got a notification on my phone. I set my AK down to pull my phone out for a moment just to check. Sure enough I got a message saying that Humphrey was out of the game. I got him. I laughed to myself and stepped out of cover to flip him off with both hands. I don't know if he saw it or not but either way I was happy. Three down, three to go. I picked my AK backup and now looked at the building in front of me. I wonder if anyone was in there. I turned the flash light on on the side of my gun and slowly pushed the door opened.
From the looks of it, no one had come in. I could tell by the leaves that had piled up against the door from the inside. I looked back and took another sniff of the air, this time picking up a scent. It was Kate. I could smell her sweet scent but it was faint. I figured I would take cover in the building and get her through one of the windows. I stepped inside and shut the door behind me. Now that I was in I crept over to one of the windows and took a sniff, she was getting closer. I went a bit left and looked out another window taking a sniff. It seemed as though she was right on top of me, but still distant… wait a second… I went to quickly turn around but was stopped when the barrel of her gun was put to the back of my head.
"Stop," I heard her say. How the hell did she get in? She could have just shot me but she didn't. What was she up to? "Drop the gun," she instructed. I listened, and slowly lowered it to the ground with one hand, while keeping the other visible still. "That's it, lower it nice and slow" she said.
I slowly stood back up and kept my hands raised, trying to figure out how to get out of the situation. Yeah she caught me, but she didn't shoot me, therefore I was still in the game. Now she kept me facing outside as she held me hostage with her own gun. Was she going to use me as armor? I didn't see her plan. "Not yet. Come on, outside" she instructed, weaving the gun to the door. I kept my hands raised as I slowly walked over to the door, opening it and stepping outside. "Keep walking," Kate told me as she kept the gun aimed at me. I turned around slightly to get a direction from her. She waved the gun to the right. "By that tree," she said. I obeyed, and walked over to it. Stopping once I reached my destination. I heard her footsteps behind me before she turned me around again.
