Bella was bummed out. Edward was out of town on business in New York City, and he would miss their weekly ritual. Every Friday night for the past eight weeks, they had ordered takeout and got comfy on the couch to watch the Great British Bake Off on Netflix.
When he had a break between meetings and called her to check in.
"We're gonna miss the Bake Off tonight. It's the Quarter Final!" Bella complained.
"I have an idea. I'm three hours ahead of you. By the time you get home from work, I will be done with my meetings. I will order some room service, and you can do DoorDash, and we will put on our comfy clothes, and we will watch it together. Me here in New York and you in Forks."
"Excellent idea!" Bella said excitedly. She was missing him so much.
"I gotta go, I will call you tonight. I love you."
"I love you too, Edward."
Edward called Bella when he got back from a long day of meetings. "Have you got your dinner?" He asked her.
"On its way. What did you order?" She asked.
"Cheeseburger. You?"
"Thai."
"From The Thai Palace?" He asked longingly.
"Yeah." Bella said sheepishly. The Thai Palace was one of their favorite Friday night take-outs. "Oh, hold on, it's here." Bella got her food and settled in on the couch. "Okay, I'm ready. Do you have Netflix on?"
"It's on, I'm ready. Place your bets. Who is going home tonight?" This was also part of their evening ritual. They always made a bet on who was out. The loser had to clean up the kitchen.
"I think it's gonna be the lady with the frizzy gray hair. She panics on those technical challenges."
"She does, I agree!"
20 minutes later….
"Do you think you could make that when I get home?" Edward asked.
"Make it! I can't even pronounce it!" Bella giggled.
"I bet you could. I wouldn't even time you." Edward teased.
"I can't make a Paul Hollywood Technical Challenge! You have lost your mind!" They continued to watch for a few more minutes. Then Bella spoke up again. "I just don't know about Noel Fielding."
"Bella, you say that every week and every week when the episode is over, you tell me he is growing on you."
"I do not!" Bella said defiantly.
Once the episode wrapped up and the older gentleman won Star Baker and the frizzy-haired lady got sent home, Edward said, "I am glad we got to watch this together tonight. I know it's not the same, but this was nice. I have missed you a lot the last few days. I can't wait to be home Sunday."
"I have missed you too. I know it's late, but thanks for staying up with me. I love you. Sleep tight! Call me in the morning."
"I love you too!" Edward told her before he hung up.
