Chapter 5
Date Gone Wrong
(Night- 8pm-9pm)
In the far distance from the very building of the restaurant on the rooftop across from the building, a figure within the shadows, with long flowy hair dressed in all black, watching a particular pair of couples sitting inside the restaurant which they had decided to eat.
Back in the restaurant both Karen and Matthew finish up with their dinner on the plate.
"Matt..?" Karen called his name with concern.
"Huh? Ah...Yeah, I'm fine" he responded to her not wanting to make her worry about what's been going through his thoughts he sensed someone was watching them somewhere which was concerning, and didn't want to make Karen worry or scared.
While Karen finishes the last bit of food, Matthew raised his hand up asking for the bill so he can pay. When the waiter walked over with the bill, he placed the bill on the table and waited for the man to pay. Matthew handed the man his card allowing the waiter to take the card and the bill to pay at the counter. Matthew turned his attention towards Karen with a smile on his face as he faces her.
"You ready to go?" Matthew asked her as she wiped the residue on her lips.
"Yeah. I'm ready~" she said in a pleasing tone of voice.
Matthew turned to the waiter that returned to the table they were at as he was given back his card. Matthew put the card back into his wallet before he got out of his seat, made his way to Karen pulled out of her seat as she stood up. Matthew tuck in the chair into the table and then held out his elbow for her to take and when she did, they make their way out of the restaurant and into the street so they can start heading home.
The wind blew as Matthew figured date is feeling cold so he took off his suit jacket he covered Karen to keep her warm.
"Thank you" Karen thanked him with a gentle smile. Matthew smiles in return the smile when he heard her thank him. Sure he cannot see her smile but he can sense it in her heart and the way she breathes. He held out his elbow again for her to hood her arms around again before continuing their way.
Matthew can't help but feel that uneasiness in his gut. He just doesn't want to have to go back to his other life which was the reason why it broke his relationships with both Karen and Foggy...though it also had him lose the very person he had loved…
"Would you like me to take you home or...back to my apartment?" Matthew asked Karen as she stared at him for a couple of moments before looking away in thought. A shy smile appears on her face as she tightens her hold around his arm before she spoke.
"Let's go back to yours" she answered "I don't want the night to end yet" she added. They stopped in their tracks as Matthew felt emotionally happy to hear what she said to him. Matthew pulls her into a tight embrace and whispers into her ear.
"I never want you to leave my side…" He whispered before slowly withdrawing from her ear with a pleasing smile on his face which he holds "Let's go" he said to Karen then started heading for Matthew's apartment.
They soon made it to the apartment building, walking up the stairs he opens the door, waiting for Karen to walk inside, and when she did Matthew closed the behind them which it would lock on its own. They made their way up the stairs until they arrive at Matthew's apartment room where he unlocks the door and slides the door open again allowing Karen to enter inside first. He slides the door after him and they walked through the house.
"I really enjoyed today" Karen said as she took off her jacket, placed it on the couch, and turned around to watch Matthew make his way to the kitchen.
"Coffee?" Matthew asked her "I enjoyed today as well" he said in response to her
"Yes please" she responded "We should do this more often" she said thinking about future dates together.
Matthew finished making both coffee when he let out a small laugh before he made his way to the living room watching as Karen took a sit on the lounge, placing the coffee down on the coffee table in front of them before taking a seat beside Karen.
"What? Why did you laugh?" she asked him when she heard him laugh about what she had suggested about them going out on more dates and ending the night like this.
"Would you really like that?" Matthew asked as he took a sip of his coffee waiting for Karen to answer him.
"Of course! I mean….that is if you…"
"I would like that too" Matthew cut her off so that she doesn't start thinking like he wouldn't want the same thing.
Karen smiles happily and gave out a short laugh. Matthew sensed again that uneasy feeling like someone had followed them to his apartment. So much had changed in his life...he was ready to leave this life behind when he had nothing to lose but 'her', and was ready to follow her and make a life with her wherever she wanted to go. Now she's gone she had nothing to come back to besides the apartment but...one good thing happened and that was Karen, and Karen being who she is, he was about to try and reconnect with Foggy.
Soon their conversation had come to an end as they finished their coffee. Karen had an idea to make her way to the bedroom to finish the end of the night in a special way.
"Let's finish this in the bedroom" she said in a seducing way as she slowly walked back to the bedroom door and slowly slid it open.
Matthew stood up from where he sat as he wanted to follow Karen to the bedroom to enjoy the rest of the night together. When suddenly he heard Karen call out for him in distress.
"Matt!" This caused Matthew to run towards the bedroom but he was paused in his track when sensed Karen slowly coming out of the bedroom back into the living room.
"Karen!?" He called out for her worry about what situation she was in.
