"Edward, please, let's go in. What's the harm?" Bella pointed to the neon sign.

"Please tell me you don't believe in that." Edward gave her a side-eye.

"Entertainment purposes only. Says so right on the door. Come on, let's go in. My treat!"

They opened the door to the Fortune Tellers shop. Incense hangs heavy in the air. Edward sneezed. Bella walked up to the old counter and rang the small bell.

A woman wafted through a beaded curtain to their left. "Hello." She said in a forced, mysterious voice. Edward rolled his eyes.

"We would like our fortunes told, please." Bella's eyes danced with excitement.

The woman looked like she had come right out of a movie. Her long frizzy hair was escaping the shawl she had draped over her head. She had tiny bells all over her outfit, and the soft jingle could be heard whenever she moved. She motioned for them to join her at a small table. She had a crystal ball waiting there.

"I am Madam Sybil. You are?" She asked.

Edward opened his mouth to say something sarcastic when Bella kicked him under the table. "I'm Bella, and this is my best friend, Edward.

"Yes, my dear indeed." The woman replied, gazing at her crystal ball. Bella hoped this woman didn't know she was lying. Edward was her best friend, but she had always wanted more. When people teased them about how close they were, Edward always came back with, 'she is like a sister to me.' Bella didn't want to ruin what they had, but it was getting harder and harder to keep her feelings to herself. Edward had recently broken up with a serious girlfriend. If she had any chance, she needed to speak up soon. Maybe Madam Sybil could give her a little insight.

"What brings you in today, my dear." She stared at Bella.

Edward whispered in Bella's ear, "shouldn't she know that?" Bella shot him a look and he piped down. For some reason, this was important to her, so he would behave and play along.

"Madam," Bella said, leaning in, "we want to know who our soulmates are." Bella bit her lip.

"I shall consult the crystal." With that, Madam Sybil waved her hands around the ball and fluttered her eyes closed. For several moments she hummed quietly, then she stopped abruptly. Her bony hand pointing at Bella. "You my dear have met your soulmate. Yes, some time ago. I think you know deep in your heart who he is. You must be brave and let him know." Bella's heart pounded in her chest. The sign she needed. "And you," she yelled toward Edward, startling them both, "have also met your soulmate, and she is closer than you think."

After they paid Madam Sybil, they left the stuffy shop and started their walk back to the car.

Bella took a deep breath. "Edward, there is something I need to tell you…."
