RETRO

Honoka had been walking down the shopping alley looking for something to enjoy her Sunday. Yesterday she went to the library to read for a while, any book would work for her, one of her favorite hobbies was to take a random book and read it. Honoka decided to buy a new book, and later she could see how to accommodate it in her already full bookshelf. Also a magazine, perhaps, it was more comfortable for her to read the news of new technologies in magazines, she didn't like to use her phone to read, it tired her eyes and also she always forgot to use her reading glasses.

There were also movies on sale, current light novels, and other items like key chains, bookmarks, and more.

The last thing Honoka expected to find in the bookstore was Misumi Nagisa digging through a box full of DVD movies. "The best Retro movies on Sale" That's what the sign above the box said. Curious, Honoka moved a little closer and noticed that many were quite old movies, from anime movies that didn't sell well, to foreign movies that didn't sell well either.

Misumi Nagisa seemed very busy looking for something in particular, Honoka was undecided whether or not to say hello, when her classmate seemed to find something that made her very happy.

"It's amazing that the deluxe edition was here!" Nagisa yelled happily as she kissed the DVD box and then hugged it to her chest. She twirled a couple of times in joy only to bump into Yukishiro Honoka head-on. Nagisa gave a cute startled cry as she jumped back.

"Oh, I'm so sorry I scared you," Honoka apologized immediately. She smiled at her classmate and dared to ask the next thing, she felt curious. "What movie is that?"

For her part, Nagisa's heart was pounding in surprise. That was the last place she expected to find Yukishiro Honoka. She came to that bookstore because someone commented on Insta that in that particular store they had many movies that she liked.

It wasn't the store she used to go to, there was one closer to her house but she almost never found anything interesting there. Now, Nagisa found not only a deluxe edition of one of her favorite movies, she also found Yukishiro Honoka. Nagisa didn't use to talk to her much at school, the reason was because Yukishiro seemed to be in her own world. Her classmate was kind and caring, and very smart, yes, but the girl was a lonely tiger.

Nagisa cleared her throat, she didn't want to answer that question because her friends and family told her that she had weird tastes. There was nothing wrong with her liking classic samurai movies! They weren't movies just for old people! But it would be rude not to answer and Nagisa finally relented. She put a hand to the back of her neck and showed Yukishiro the cover of the box.

"This one," Nagisa replied with a mutter as she looked slightly to the side.

"The Lone Sword, deluxe version with director's and actor's comments," read Honoka as she leaned a little closer to get a better look at the title. Then she remembered something, put a hand to her chin. "My grandmother has this movie on a VHS."

Nagisa grunted a little, she was expecting the usual comment, that this kind of movie was a movie for the elderly, but her classmate said something that completely changed her mood.

"I like the movie, even though I haven't seen it in years, and I think the VHS my grandmother has is twenty minutes longer than this version," Honoka said as she pointed to the DVD.

Nagisa blinked a few times before smiling. "Really? So your grandmother has an early version of the movie!" Nagisa exclaimed excitedly. "Oh, I'd love to see it!" And then she lamented. "But I don't have a VHS player."

Then, Honoka dared to say something else. "If you want, we can take the VHS to the Audiovisual Club at school, they have the equipment to put the film on a DVD. I'd also like to have a copy."

Nagisa didn't know what to say, she was surprised by the tempting offer. Her heart begged for a copy of that movie and she finally agreed. "I'd love to! Thank you, Yukishiro-san."

"You're welcome," Honoka replied with a cute smile. "I'll see you tomorrow at school. Bye."

Honoka escaped first without buying anything. Nagisa didn't have time to say goodbye. Both girls wanted to talk more, but Honoka left and Nagisa didn't stop her.
