Man, I should've released this a while ago, so that it'll be in celebration of Death Battle's Ten Year Anniversary. Guess you'll just have to settle for this being a little late to the party. Also, I probably am going to take a break from this at the fifty chapter mark. This is purely for my enjoyment, since I like writing fights, but this also takes time away from other fanfics. I will at least go up to one hundred chapters in total, but I'll be taking a break at fifty.
Disclaimer: I don't own either Assassination Classroom or Devil's Riddle. Assassination Classroom is owned by Yusei Matsui and Shueiesha. Devil's Riddle is owned by Yun Koga and Kadokawa Shoten.
Azure: Finally back with Assassination Classroom. It's hard to come up with a good opponent for Nagisa, since the one who made the most sense was Izuku Midoriya, and that would be a complete stomp, and the closest powerwise is Yandere-Chan, but that doesn't even make sense. But then I found an AMV. Nagisa Shiota vs Tokaku Azuma AMV Getting Away With Murder. It's a pretty good one. I looked into Devil's Riddle, or Riddle Story of Devil or Akuma no Riddle however you want to call it, and it's pretty cool. And more importantly, Nagisa finally has someone worthy of being an opponent for the WIB Ring. Let's see how Tokaku does.
-Line Break-
Bryant: Two students, two killers. These two are pure-blooded assassins, and some of the deadliest in their schools, both given the task to kill the unkillable. But even so, they showcase their humanity by using their skills to find a way to protect the ones the love most.
Thea: Blue hair. Blue eyes. Student. Assassins. Tasked to kill the unkillable. Ends up wanting to protect them. Crappy parental figure. Knives. Looks like the opposite gender in the manga at the very least. Yep.
Bryant: Nagisa Shiota, the prodigy with a killer instinct.
Thea: And Tokaku Azuma, the guardian assassin.
Bryant: I'm Bryant Reese.
Thea: And I'm Thea Price.
Bryant: And we're here to analyze these two fighters and find out who would win, a WI Battle!
-Line Break-
Nagisa Shiota:
Bryant: From the moment Nagisa Shiota was born, he was doomed. Doomed to live a life considered a disappointment. Simply because he was born a boy, and not a girl.
Thea: Yeah, his mom, Hiromi Shiota, is kind of a b*tch. She didn't get to play with dolls, wear fancy dresses, and had to study all the time. So her solution was to dress up Nagisa as a doll. Instead of, you know, having another kid? Trying again to have a daughter? My mom says that the second time is easier.
Bryant: Regardless of the reason, Nagisa was treated as a doll for most of his life, and he was a fairly depressed person.
Nagisa Shiota:
-Age: 14 (Graduation)/21 (7 years later)
-Birthday: July 20 (Cancer)
-Height: 159 cm (Graduation)/160 cm (7 years later)
-A member of Class 3-E of Kunugigaoka Junior High
-Alias: Androgynous (Gender)
-Ranked 2nd in Volume 12 Popularity Poll
-Loves Sushi
-Prefers to be called by his first name
Thea: Well let's see. His dad left him with his crazy mom. He was treated as a girl for a long time. His first real friend ditched him halfway through second year. And then he got dropped into E-Class of Kunugigaoka Junior High, which basically means that he might as well have signed a contract for an entire year of encouraged bullying. But then, the moon blew up!
Bryant: This was due to a rat that was a test subject of special, anti-matter testing. Another test subject, who would eventually be named Korosensei, stated that the Earth would be destroyed by him within a year, and requested to be the teacher of Class 3-E. The same class that Nagisa would be in. In return, the government assigned Class 3-E the duty of assassinating the superbeing.
Thea: Well, that's totally a good idea. I can see absolutely no reason why that's a bad idea at allllllll! That's sarcasm by the way.
Bryant: Under the tutelage of Korosensei, Tadaomi Karasuma, and Irina Jelavic, the students of Class 3-E were trained in the art of assassination. There were many incredible assassins as a result of this class.
Thea: Ryunosuke Chiba and Rinka Hayami, the two best snipers of the entire class. Kotaro Takebayashi, who became an expert in demolition and bombs. Manami Okuda, an expert in poisons. Yuma Isogai and Hiroto Maehara, an awesome tag team of fighters. The Autonomous Intelligence Fixed Artillery, a hyper-advanced A.I. named Ritsu. Horibe Itona, a superbeing with tentacles. Twenty eight students. Kind of hard to stand out. But Nagisa is capable of doing just that.
Bryant: Recall how Nagisa was left behind by his first real friend. This person Karma Akabane, a delinquent who was known for his fearless nature and expert fighting skill. Nagisa thought that it was because Karma had become bored of him, but it was actually for a different reason.
Thea: Fearless my ass! Karma felt uncomfortable around Nagisa, because he realized that Nagisa wasn't a normal kid.
Bryant: Rather, Nagisa was a natural born assassin. Having spent his life being raised by his mother, he obtained numerous assassination abilities as a result of his childhood.
Abilities:
-Stealth
-Analysis
-Bloodlust
-Marksmanship
-Seduction
-Knife skill
-Hand-to-hand combat
-Negotiation
-Parkour
Bryant: He became an expert on analyzing other people, and became pretty good at reading them. He learned to hide his presence, somewhat unconsciously, though he does make use of this later. And he became skilled in negotiation from dealing with his mother.
Thea: And his training under Karasuma and Jelavic just made him better! Under their tutelage, he went from a natural to a killing machine. He learned seduction, infiltration, enhanced his stealth and negotiation skills, foreign language, parkour, strategic maneuvering, marksmanship, and close-ranged combat! The last of which is Nagisa's best.
Bryant: Out of all the assassins in the Assassination Classroom, Nagisa arguably has the most experience with actual weapons.
Weapons:
-Knife
-Stun guns
-M1911A1 pistol
-M4 Carbine
-PE Uniform
Bryant: He's well known for his skill using a knife. He uses a real one that he obtained during his rematch with Akira Takaoka. In addition, he has two stun guns. His more well known stun gun is the stun gun he obtained from his friend Ryoma Terasaka, which increases his range by a good foot, though he also does a regular taser which he tried to use against the fake God of Death.
Thea: But while most modern assassins do use knives and poison, they also use guns. Yeah, the guns Nagisa used are all BBs, but they're modified guns which were turned into BBs. And, since he had the same training as Hayami and Chiba, he should be able to use the real versions, since they were able to use actual revolvers with no prior training thanks to their training with their BBs. Sure, the two are definitely better than Nagisa in terms of sniping abilities, but that doesn't mean he doesn't know how to use a gun at all.
Bryant: Nagisa undoubtedly prefers close ranged combat rather than long distance combat, but he has shown to be a capable marksman, as he was able to instantly tell if people are out of range with a single look. In his case, he used both available guns given to him by the government. These include the M1911A1 pistol, and M4 Carbine Rifle.
Thea: The M1911A1 pistol is a neat little gun that has an 8.5 inch length to it, and has a rate of fire of 85 rounds a minute with an effective range of 50 meters and a muzzle velocity of 830 ft/s. His M4 Carbine Rifle is a length of 33 inches and has a rate of fire between 700-950 rounds a minute with an effective range of 500 meters and a muzzle velocity of 2,970 ft/s. Not a bad line up if you ask me.
Bryant: However, Nagisa's most reliable equipment is his PE Uniform. Custom made by the government, it's made of a reinforced fiber and is shock resistant, shock absorbent, stretch resistant, severance resistant, and fire resistant. This protects him from tasers, fire, high impacts, and knives. Though it obviously isn't capable of stopping all weapons, it's capable of absorbing blows powerful enough to break bones.
Thea: Lighter than school jerseys, shoes give a bounce to steps to increase mobility and decrease noise, and have a special camouflage feature using dyes that can't even be picked up by Korosensei, who smelled plastic under a mountain of pudding! It protects from impacts strong enough to shatter wooden walls and windows, as well protecting them from the glass shards! Now that's a fine piece of equipment.
Bryant: Nagisa's most reliable tool, however, is his bloodlust. Formed from years of torment and suffering, Nagisa's bloodlust is incredible.
Thea: Incredible? It helps him drive people insane! His bloodlust can make people hallucinate seeing a giant snake slithering up to them, or even make him look like a gorgon! And if Nagisa gets pissed off, he'll become even more dangerous!
Bryant: We never actually seen Nagisa fight with full bloodlust. However, when he did come close to this, his classmates and Korosensei all thought that he would kill Takaoka. They were specifically concerned that Nagisa would kill him, and not that he had tunnel vision. This implies that Nagisa, in a berserker state, is capable of killing someone who previously outmatched him in every category.
Thea: Nagisa is definitely an awesome fighter.
Achievements:
-Defeated Takaoka and Karma in head-on battles
-Scored a quadruple kill in the AssClass Civil War
-Defeated an assassin with a clap
-Knocked out Kayano with a kiss
-Jumped over a street
-Was able to sneak up to all three of his teachers in some way
-Drove Takaoka insane with bloodlust
Thea: He's capable of ripping off the tag of a trained assassin's clothes without them even noticing, taking on fully trained government agents, fought and beat Karma in a head-on fight, and is a tough SoB. When he fought a bloodthirsty Takaoka, he took several powerful attacks. Attacks that were able to completely immobilize his supposedly physical superior Maehara when Takaoka wasn't trying to kill him. In the civil paintball war of the Assassination Classroom, he got the highest 'body' count, four of which was all at once! And he did this by hiding behind the referee! Smart.
Bryant: To be specific, Nagisa was able to tag all four of his targets with four vertical slashes. As they all cried out at the exact same time, this means he struck them all before his first target could react. The highest possible reaction time for a human is 0.15 seconds. Using Terasaka and Rio Nakamura to measure the distance between each target, and adding into the fact that he attacked them all with vertical strikes, this means he crossed a distance of about 28 feet in less than a quarter of a second.
Thea: Hold on there Bryant, Nagisa can't be that fast. He attacked them from behind! That's why they didn't see him.
Bryant: Hm… That's true. But that just means Nagisa is actually faster.
Thea: Wait, what?
Bryant: Since he attacked them all from behind, this means they must've been reacting to touch, not sight. The highest speed a person can react to touch is about 0.08 seconds. Which means Nagisa crossed the distance of 28 feet in almost half the time we previously used.
Thea: Now that's speed! Nagisa could also jump over a street, which is usually around twenty feet wide, without a running start. Not a world record, but still a pretty good distance. And he can climb an almost vertical cliff pretty quickly too. Dibs on him for a rock climbing contest!
Bryant: Go ahead. I'll take Hinata Okano.
Thea: Wait no! Dammit!
Bryant: Nagisa may be a gentle and kind person, but also a pure-hearted assassin through and through. While he is more than capable of holding his own in a head-on fight, he prefers to use stealth and finding certain openings in his opponents, striking them with a fatal blow. He can do this thanks to multiple techniques he's learned.
Techniques:
-Flying Triangle Hold
-Triangle Choke
-Clap Stunner
-Consciousness scanning
-Kiss of Death
Thea: He can knock people out with chokeholds, like his famous Triangle Choke. And for increased stealth, he can sense a person's wavelengths of consciousness. Isn't that kind of like the Spider-Sense?
Bryant: Just a tiny bit, but not enough to be compared. Nagisa can only sense a person's state of mind and their emotions, while the Spider-Sense is an omnidirectional radar. But by combining Nagisa's assassination training, excellent judgment, analytical mind, and this sensing, he could potentially predict when his opponent will attack, though he won't be able to know how they will. Though admittedly, this is just speculation, and he has never actually done this before in his series.
Thea: And when he senses their consciousness, he can follow up with his signature Clap Stunner!
Bryant: Originally, the Clap Stunner relied on three specific conditions being filled in order to be used. But by combining his sensing ability and his Clap Stunner, he is capable of knocking his opponent out entirely with just a clap of his hands.
Thea: So he has a lot of good. Are there any bads?
Bryant: Several, actually.
Weaknesses:
-Physically lacking in strength
-Good pain tolerance, but average stamina
-Reckless at times
-Bloodlust does not work on people who can match it
His bloodlust may be able to cause hallucinations, but that ability is non-existent when his opponent's bloodlust is higher than his. He's not suicidal, but he has a pretty poor record of staying out of danger. His speed and endurance is incredible, but his actual stamina is average at best. His PE Uniform doesn't cover up his face, and can be outdone with high enough power. And he only has about a year of training and experience.
Thea: He's biggest weakness though is a pretty funny one. Yukiko Kanzaki, and Manami Okuda. They're kind of weak physically, with Okuda being one of the weakest students in the class. They grab his hands. They put them behind his back. He can't move. He's picked up. He goes from a snake to an angry baby hamster. Yeah he's kind of weak. Strong enough to hold people in a chokehold, but nothing else.
Bryant: But Nagisa understands his physical weakness. That's why he relies on stealth and precision, rather than head-on combat, and why he prefers to end battles as soon as possible. Nagisa is still one of the deadliest assassins in his world. He's capable of things thought to be impossible for him.
Thea: But he's still a real softy. He managed to inspire his parents to stop being such big b*tches, and give their marriage another shot. And when he grew up, he decided to become a teacher and help other people become the best they can as well, much like Korosensei. Speaking of doing the impossible, how did he only grow a single centimeter?!
(Nagisa) Anything can be a sword if you polish it enough.
-Line Break-
Tokaku Azuma:
Bryant: Haru Ichinose just wanted to go to school and be friendly to her classmates. That's it.
Thea: It's not her fault someone decided that she needed to die. Yeah, Haru was a victim of a sick game that was meant to test if she was worthy to become a 'Primer'? Not really sure what's up with that.
Bryant: Basically, Haru and the headmaster of Myojo Academy both belonged to the same clan. This was a test to see if Haru would survive, and if she did, she would become a Primer, which puts her in charge of it.
Thea: Got it. Basically, each of the twelve assassins get one letter to send to her. And they have to try to kill her within 48 hours after they give her the letter. If they failed to kill Haru, they were expelled. But all Haru wanted was to live a regular life. Doesn't seem like that was going to happen any time soon.
Bryant: With twelve assassins as her classmate, all promised a single wish that would be granted to them, death certainly seemed imminent for her. Until one person decided to change sides. Suddenly, the battle was not one target and twelve hunters. But rather, the target, eleven hunters, and one bodyguard.
Thea: Tokaku Azuma.
Tokaku Azuma:
-Age: 17
-Birthday: March 3
-Height: 160 cm
-Lone member of the Azuma Clan
-Loves curry
-A member of Black Class at Myojo Academy
-Hates being called by her first name
-Raised by her grandmother and aunt
Bryant: Tokaku didn't really have a nice life growing up. When she was a baby, her mother died as she gave birth. Immediately afterwards, her grandmother swooped in and stole custody of her. Ever since, she was raised and trained in the art of assassination within the hidden Yama Fukaki Village.
Thea: Her grandmother would definitely be arrested by CPS if she was still alive. Tokaku's aunt tried to remove her from the house, but her grandmother just called her the shame of the Azuma clan and apparently killed her. Oh yeah, Tokaku belonged to the Azuma Clan, the branched family of assassins. Apparently the clan existed since ancient times, with the Kuzunoha family being the other clan. As you can expect from training under her family and eventually a private school called Academy 17, Tokaku was trained pretty thoroughly.
Bryant: Under the tutelage of her family until she was recruited by the Academy 17 to kill Haru.
Thea: But then Tokaku, actually ended up falling in love with Haru! And she ended up deciding to dedicate her time at the academy to protect the cinnamon roll.
Bryant: And Tokaku would certainly make for one skilled bodyguard. She's an expert at fighting, specifically with knives.
Weapons:
-Knives
-Stun gun
-Walther PPQ
-Katana
Bryant: She often relies on attacking from a distance with her signature throwing knives, but she has no problem using them in close quarters combat.
Thea: She's also got a stun gun in her shoe. That's right, her shoe. This little baby is so strong, it can knock a person out with one shock. Now that's putting a shock to your system! And if she wants to fight at a distance, and not use her knives, she has a Walther PPQ pistol, which has a length of 7.2 inches and an effective range of 50 meters and a muzzle velocity of 1,340 ft/s. Oh man. I want one!
Bryant: I told you, you aren't allowed to get another gun.
Thea: Oh come on!
Bryant: It's worth noting that while Tokaku is able to use her pistol effectively, she's less skilled with firearms than she is with knives.
Thea: Dang. But I guess I can forgive her. She does have a pretty good katana. This baby can literally cut your hand off!
Bryant: Not usually possible, but this katana was designed to slice limbs off. She's not limited to these weapons however, as she is quite impressive as a fighter.
Abilities:
-Enhanced senses
-Analysis
-Marksmanship
-Hand-to-hand combat
-Knife skills
-Adaptability with weapons
-Martial Arts
Bryant: She prefers to take her opponents head-on, taking them out powerfully and quickly. Tokaku's also capable of making several observations with just a look. She's capable of adapting to most weapons, and she is extremely skilled in martial arts, using them to attack and retaliate. While she has no actual techniques, she's considered to be the top of the assassins in Myojo Academy thanks to her skill.
Thea: You think that's cool? She can throw two knives at once, and hit a single arm with both! On top of that, she got one hell of a nose. She can identify assassins with a sniff, and she even found a hidden room and bombs with her nose! What is she, a bloodhound?
Achievements:
-Broke Isuke Inukai's neck
-Caught a thrown pendant in less than a second
-Stabbed an arm with two knives in one throw
-Defeated an illusionary copy of herself
-Endured being strangled
-Survived dropping several floors
-Survived a chandelier falling on her
-Dodged bullets
-Disarmed a bomb
-Smelled out a hidden room
Bryant: In her adventures, Tokaku has done many impressive feats of strength, speed, and durability. In a battle against one of the assassins in her class, she survived having a chandelier thrown at her by a cyborg assassin. A large chandelier usually weighs about 400 pounds. Assuming this was thrown at an acceleration of about 15 m/s squared, that comes out at a force of over 600 lbs of force.
Thea: And she just got up like nothing happened! She toughed out being strangled and just threw the person who was trying to choke her over her head. She even fell down several floors and survived! Some people die from that kind of fall! Sure she wasn't unaffected by that, but she was able to get up and save Haru almost right after. On top of that, she even dodged a bullet from a few feet away! Man, don't mess with a lady in love.
Bryant: Tokaku was around twenty-five feet away from Isuke, the shooter, who pulled out what looked to be a Remington Model 95 Double Derringer, judging by the hammer, double barrel, small size, and round handle. This gun has a muzzle velocity of about 425 f/s. This means Tokakau had to have reacted in 0.06 seconds. The highest reaction time possible is around 0.15 seconds. This means Tokaku's reaction time is almost 2.5 times faster than the highest possible reaction to sight. Assuming this ratio carries over to other speeds, like movement and striking speeds, and comparing them to the highest movement and striking speeds, being 27 miles per hour for movement and 45 miles per hour for striking, this means she can move at speeds equal to 67.5 miles per hour, and attack at speeds equal to 112.5 miles per hour.
Thea: That's pretty fast. So she can tank falling several floors, and move 2.5 times faster than regular humans. In terms of strength, she was able to snap Isuke's neck almost right after dodging her bullets. That takes about 1000 lbs of force! That sounds like a highball, but she's comparable to Sumireko Hanabusa, who was the cyborg who threw the chandelier at her.
Bryant: But she isn't perfect.
Weaknesses:
-Never really killed anyone before
-Emotions make her hesitate unless she can fight them off
Bryant: Despite having been trained ever since she was a child, Tokaku didn't have any real experience since she never killed anyone before. And when she loses control of her emotions and her focus breaks, she avoids vital areas, thus not killing anyone.
Thea: But that didn't stop her from taking down several members of Black Class, one of whom was a cyborg might I remind you? She's still the top student of the entire class, standing above them all. And she did all that just to protect her girlfriend? Nice. Talk about relationship goals.
Bryant: Did she? That wasn't all that clear at first.
Thea: What do you mean?
Bryant: Turns out, Haru wasn't all what she seemed. Haru actually possessed a special ability, one called Queen Bee. What this does is actually manipulate others into protecting her, and letting her rise up to the top of the hierarchy, making others to be 'Worker Bees'. And the reason why Tokaku wanted to protect Haru despite only knowing her for about a day was because Haru, who was unaware of her ability, used it on her. Naturally, when Tokaku realized this, she was angered. She thought that all the feelings she had for Haru were fake, feelings that Haru used in order to trick Tokaku into abandoning the mission she was assigned.
Thea: Damn. Can't say that I'd blame her. But Haru didn't even know she had that kind of ability.
Bryant: So in order to prove that she wasn't controlled by this ability, Tokaku had to do one thing.
Thea: Don't tell me…
Bryant: In order to prove that she was not some slave to Haru's ability, Tokaku stabbed Haru in the chest.
Thea: Damn… all that, all those battles, all those times where she did her best to protect Haru… only to end up being Haru's killer.
Bryant: Actually, no.
Thea: Wait, what?
Bryant: Turns out, while Tokaku certainly thought she killed Haru, and mourned her death, Haru's ribs, are actually made of titanium, stopping the knife an inch from her heart and allowing her to survive.
Thea: ...What? What the hell is with that lame-ass plot armor ending?! What is this, Fairy Tail?!
Bryant: Haru made a full recovery, and was able to graduate. Afterwards she and Tokaku were able to return to each other, with the full knowledge that Tokaku's heart belongs to Haru, and not because of the Queen Bee power. And all the other assassins also returned to their regular lives. Haru and Tokaku ended up living a happy ending with each other, finally able to put everything behind them.
Thea: The ending is better than how we made it sound, I promise.
(Tokaku) It's not twelve assassins. It's eleven assassins and one guardian.
-Line Break-
Bryant: Alright, the stage is set, time to start this dance.
Thea: Battle ready, set, GO!
-Line Break-
A small figure dashed through the dark shadows of a school hall. The figure came up to a room and entered quickly and silently. He walked over to a desk and sat down. He pulled out a small bag, setting it down next to a cup of soda. Nagisa sighed as he looked down at them. His phone rang, catching his attention. He pulled it out, and answered.
"Nagisa."
"Mr Karasuma?"
"Are you okay?"
"Yes. I'm fine. I made it to the abandoned school, and I found the guns you wanted me to find." he said.
"Excellent. Keep on your guard. The government sent out twelve assassins to eliminate you and your classmates to tie up loose ends. Fortunately, each one of you are in a hidden place and armed with live action rounds." Karasuma said.
"Do you know who I'm being targeted by?"
"A girl named Tokaku Azuma. Apparently she and the other assassins were promised a wish to be granted. I don't know much else, except that she's very good, and is probably aware that you know that she exists. Luckily, we managed to hide what we had on you, so she doesn't have any real info on you either. Keep your guard up and be careful." Karasuma warned before hanging up. Nagisa sighed again as he fiddled with the collar of his PE Uniform. He opened the bag and pulled out a burger. He stood up and walked over to the window. Leaning against the wall, he took a bite as he kept watch of the school entrance parallel to his location. His eyes widened as he spotted a figure dash up to the door and disappear inside. He quickly swallowed as he ran over to the desk. He gulped down a mouthful of soda before running out, holding his rifle at the ready.
'Here is where the target had disappeared.' the message on Tokaku's phone read, following with a map. She put it down and looked down the hall. She snuck down the hall, holding her pistol at the ready. Spotting someone ahead of her, she immediately pointed her pistol at him. Nagisa quickly pointed his rifle back at her.
Serpent vs Devil!
Fight!
Nagisa immediately opened fire on Tokaku, who immediately dashed to the side and avoided the bullets by hopping into the open classroom. Nagisa ran towards the opening. Pressing against the opening, he took a breath to ready himself before ducking inside. Tokaku surprised him with a tackle ambush, knocking him backwards. Nagisa held up the rifle and blocked a powerful punch that sent him rolling backwards. Coming on his feet, he pointed the rifle towards Tokaku again and fired. Tokaku dashed from side to side and kicked the point away. She kicked upwards, knocking the rifle from his hands. Nagisa ducked under the next kick and uppercutted her. He grabbed and pulled her arm towards him. He kneed her while bringing his elbow down on it, disarming her of her pistol. Tokaku and Nagisa grappled with each other before Tokaku managed to kick him away.
"I suppose you're Tokaku?" Nagisa coughed as he stood up. Tokaku said nothing as she charged forwards. She pulled out a knife and stabbed towards his face. Nagisa pushed the knife up and ducked down, throwing Tokaku over his head.
"Uff!" Tokaku grunted as she landed. She quickly got up, holding the knife at the ready to throw. She clicked her tongue when she saw that Nagisa wasn't there and that his rifle was gone as well. She stood up and walked down the dark halls, scooping up her pistol.
'I guess trying to get a drop on her didn't work out.' Nagisa thought to himself as he hung outside the window nearby. He pulled himself back in, rolling across the floor and holding his rifle at the ready. He looked towards where Tokaku went.
'If I don't take care of her now, she'll just come after me again. And the more she comes after me, the more information she'll get. And information is power.' he thought. With little other choice, he immediately ran off after her.
'I have to take care of him here. If he gets a chance to further prepare for me, it'll be much, much harder.' Tokaku thought to herself as she came up to a corner. Rounding it and seeing no one, she continued her trek down, but paused. She sniffed the air. Smelling gunpowder, she whirled around and fired rapidly. Nagisa dove to the other side of the hall opening, narrowly dodging the bullets. He rolled onto his feet and whirled around. Tokaku rounded the corner and kicked the rifle out of Nagisa's hands again. She pulled out a knife and slashed towards Nagisa's face. He pushed it away and kicked her leg, causing it to buckle. As she fell with a grunt, he slammed a knee into her face, making her stagger back. She quickly caught both her balance and the follow up punch. She flinched as another punch slammed into her nose, making her flinch.
Nagisa grunted as he jumped up, drop-kicking Tokaku away. She staggered back again. Nagisa flipped onto his feet. Looking up, he reached back and pulled out his own knife. Tokaku pulled out two knives and charged. Nagisa charged forwards as well, and the two clashed. Nagisa ducked under her stabs and slashes while Tokaku parried and pushed away his attacks. Nagisa pulled out his pistol and tried to shoot her point blank. Tokaku parried his arm, pointing the pistol away. She spun and slammed an elbow into his chest. She kicked him several times before sending him rolling back with a powerful kick. Nagisa scrambled to his feet, looking behind him and rolling to the side to avoid a powerful kick. He grabbed Tokaku in a lock from behind.
"Get off!" Tokaku slammed her elbow into Nagisa's side repeatedly, making him grunt with each hit. She managed to turn towards the windows and quickly threw her feet up. She kicks off the window and flips over Nagisa. He spins and kicks her. He raised his pistol quickly, but Tokaku managed to recover and block his arm, letting the bullet fly past her harmlessly. Nagisa's kick was blocked, and when he tried to fire again she pushed his arm up and punched him in the chest. Nagisa tried to shoot her again but Tokaku quickly managed to slap it away. Nagisa was forced onto the defensive as she began punching him. Managing to parry one punch, he went for a stab. Tokaku parried it and slammed a palm strike into Nagisa's chin, causing a small amount of spit to fly out. Nagisa tried for a kick, but Tokaku caught it. She kicked his other leg out and slammed him down. His knife and pistol flew out of his hands.
"Ugh!" Nagisa cried out as he slammed down. Mounting him, Tokaku punched his face several times before Nagisa managed to put up a block. He managed to push one to the side before punching Tokaku in the nose again. As she flinched, Nagisa punched her in the ribs causing her to bend to the side. He managed to throw her off him and scrambled for his knife and pistol. He managed to pick them up and turned around. He threw up an arm, just barely managing to parry another stab. He pushed the arm and locked it under his armpit, using his leg to kick her several times before forcing her down for a knee kick. Tokaku managed to pull her arm free and slashed towards Nagisa again. Yelping slightly, he managed to jump back away from the slash.
'She's too good!' Nagisa thought as he managed to dodge another slash. He sliced upwards, forcing Tokaku to lean back. He raised his leg and kicked her in the stomach. Tokaku fell back into a stance as Nagisa fell back into his. Tokaku charged forwards, spinning her knife into a reverse grip as she drove it down towards him. Nagisa sidestepped the stab and blocked the follow up. Tokaku dropped the knife into her other hand and slashed towards Nagisa. He quickly ducked under the slash and managed to slap the knife upwards. Tokaku growled and punched Nagisa in the cheek repeatedly, forcing him away. She flipped and kicked the falling knife towards Nagisa, cutting his cheek.
Nagisa grunted as he rolled backwards. Tokaku leapt towards him and brought down a powerful punch, almost hitting him before he rolled away. Nagisa dove away, the two sprinting down the school halls. Nagisa ducked into the classroom near him. Tokaku followed behind him, pausing at the sight of an empty classroom. She spun towards the wall, but Nagisa wasn't there either.
'Wh-where did he-!' Tokaku was cut off as Nagisa grabbed her from behind again. She thrashed around and tried to throw him off. Nagisa and Tokaku struggled against each other, Nagisa holding on as Tokaku threw him around. She spun and slammed them through the door before managing to get a good grip and throwing Nagisa over his shoulder down the hall. Nagisa rolled up and fired several shots towards Tokaku. She grunted as one of the bullets pierced her side. She dodged the other bullets and kicked the pistol away.
"Hyah!" the two spun and kicked towards each other as they whipped out their knives again. Dancing with blades and feet. Nagisa stopped and tried to block Tokaku's kicks only to get kicked in the face. Nagisa flew back before managing to land on his feet. Tokaku threw several knives towards Nagisa, who managed to knock them out of the air. He charged towards Tokaku, managing to duck under her slash while cutting her leg slightly as he rolled past her. Tokaku cried out as she fell, not expecting the sudden pain. She rose in a spin and punched Nagisa away from her. She took out another knife and threw it towards Nagisa, who rolled backwards to dodge it. But as he came to his feet, Tokaku dashed past him with a swipe of her knife and a spray of blood. Nagisa's scream ripped out of his throat as he fell to his knees.
Tokaku spun and took her stance, breathing heavily as Nagisa continued to scream, his hand over his face. She took a step forward, intending on finishing things then and there. A wave of bloodlust rolled over her, making her pause. Nagisa's screams calmed down, but anguished cries still heaved. He slashed wildly at her as she approached. Tokaku easily avoided it by jumping backwards. Another wave of bloodlust rolled over her again, and she gulped slightly.
Nagisa took a shuddering breath, before exhaling it. A heartbeat was echoing in his mind. He slowly took his hand, covered in blood, away from his now cut out left eye. His eyelid was closed tightly, but blood still poured out. His remaining eye took on a snake-like appearance and glared at her, seemingly glowing in the dim light of the moon. He stood slowly, never taking his eye off her.
The two stared at each other before suddenly dashing towards the darkened hallway. Nagisa scooped up his pistol and ran into the shadows. Tokaku pulled out several knives and followed. The hall was silent, before a shot rang out, briefly illuminating Nagisa and Tokaku. The two continued to fire at each other, the explosions from their pistols their only light as they fought and dodged. Gunshots and the sounds of knives hitting bricks filled the entire school The shots died down as both ran out of bullets. Not taking a chance, Tokaku charged towards Nagisa, using the memory of where he was last to guide her. Nagisa, hearing her footsteps, pulled out his stun gun and zapped her. Tokaku cried out in pain as she was shocked. Nagisa kicked her back before hitting her with another hit from his stun gun. Tokaku gritted her teeth as she grabbed the stun gun and pushed it away. She slammed a fist into his face, knocking him away.
The two continued to fight in the dark before they managed to break out of the hall and it's darkness. Tokaku and Nagisa both managed to get to their feets quickly and charged towards each other. Tokaku sidestepped to his left and punched him from his blindspot. She took out her knife and slashed him as he raised his arm to block. To her surprise, the knife simply slid off his sleeve. Nagisa swung his fist, hitting her in the eye and stunning her. Nagisa stabbed her in the side, making her cry out in pain before shoving him away. Tokaku clutched her bleeding side.
Nagisa wiped the heavy stream of blood from the left side of his face. As Tokaku looked up at him, he threw the glob of blood towards her eyes, forcing her to close them. He tackled her down and punched her face repeatedly. Tokaku tilted her head to the side, putting her in his blind side and causing him to miss. Tokaku raised both hands and slammed them down onto his chest, sending Nagisa backwards. Tokaku wiped the blood from her eyes and charged towards Nagisa. She grabbed the handle of her katana and unsheathed it. She swung it towards Nagisa, trying to cleave his head in two. Nagisa pulled out and used his knife to barely parry the slash. The two danced around each other, stabbing and slashing at each other. Nagisa was trying to stab her as he dodged her slashes and Tokaku was trying to cut him as she parried his attacks.
Nagisa sidestepped another slash, but stumbled as he stepped on top of the sheath Tokaku dropped discreetly. He fell onto his back as Tokaku charged towards him. Her katana flashed in the moonlight as she thrusted it forwards. Nagisa's hand flew up and he caught the katana's blade. Ignoring the intense pain, he pushed it to the side and grabbed her with his legs. Surprised by the sudden leg chokehold, Tokaku fell down. Nagisa and Tokaku rolled across the floor as their weapons fell out of their hands.
Tokaku threw Nagisa against the lockers. Adrenaline pumping in their veins, the two flipped to their feet and attacked each other. They parried each other's blows as they fought in hand-to-hand. Nagisa blocked a hit with crossed arms and struck Tokaku across the face. She retaliated with a kick to the side and knocked Nagisa back a bit. She grabbed him again and threw him. Nagisa managed to roll to his feet and blocked a kick, countering with two uppercuts. Tokaku recovered and slammed a hook across Nagisa's left eye, making him scream again as he fell on his face near his knife.
'Now!' Tokaku thought. She scooped up the knife and raised it above her head. Nagisa quickly spun and clapped in her face. Tokaku choked on air, the knife falling out of her hand as her body jerked backwards. Nagisa caught the knife and drove it upwards with all of his strength, sending it straight into Tokaku's jaw and through her head. Tokaku's eyes became glassy as she choked. Nagisa let the knife go and backed away, letting Tokaku's body drop to her knees and forwards on her face. A puddle of blood stained her hair.
Breathing heavily, Nagisa came down from his bloodlusted high. He looked down at Tokaku with a sad eye. He took off his jacket and draped it over her, covering the top half of her body, before walking away.
KO!
Thea: Holy sh*t! That was awesome!
Bryant: In what is undoubtedly the closest fight in WIB history, these two fighters possessed numerous advantages over each other. In terms of stamina, pain tolerance, and analytical abilities, the two were pretty evenly matched. And they've both shown to be able to go up against foes that seem to have them completely outclassed.
Thea: Having been trained since she was a kid by two sources, Tokaku definitely had the edge in skill and experience. And since she can be scaled to Sumireko, she definitely was stronger than Nagisa. On top of that, her own bloodlust should be able to keep up with Nagisa's. It's not as much as his, but it should be enough to resist him for a little bit. With all this, Tokaku definitely could've taken the win.
Bryant: And she would have, but Nagisa was just barely able to hold on.
Thea: We calculated Tokaku's speed, and said that her movement and striking speeds were 67.5 miles per hour and 112.5 miles per hour respectively, while being able to react in 0.06 seconds. That's 2.5 times faster than regular humans at their best. But Nagisa did score that quadruple kill.
Bryant: Considering the distance and the time it took for all four of his targets to react, this means that Nagisa had to have moved at a speed equal to almost 239 miles per hour. Using the same formula we did for Tokaku, this means Nagisa is capable of speeds more than 5 times faster than regular humans at their best.
Thea: It does sound crazy, but Nagisa should be able to scale to Terasaka in reaction speeds, who caught a tentacle from Itona. Itona was stated to be about half as fast as Korosensei by both Korosensei's and Yanagisawa's calculations when they first fought, and Terasaka caught Itona's tentacles when they've been upgraded. Sure Itona was holding back, but Terasaka catching that tentacle is still faster than Tokaku dodging those bullets.
Bryant: And Nagisa also outclassed Tokaku in their arsenals as well. Tokaku did survive falling out a third story window, but Nagisa's PE Uniform let him do the same. It can also block Tokaku's knives and taser better than Tokaku's natural durability could block Nagisa's.
Thea: Nagisa's stun guns were also easier to use since they were in his hands, not his feet. Nagisa's regular guns were also better than Tokaku's knives and pistol, especially since Nagisa was more used to his guns than Tokaku was her own. And he definitely had the stealth advantage, especially since his PE Uniform would be able to hide him from Tokaku. Yeah she sniffed out a hidden room, but Korosensei can sniff out a bomb buried under a mountain of pudding! And the PE Uniform, despite using dyes, was able to help Chiba sneak up to Korosensei when he didn't have a different smell to focus on. But all those aren't enough to outclass the strength, skill, and experience advantages that Tokaku had. They only managed to put them on an even playing field.
Bryant: So, in order to figure out the winner, we had to examine both characters closely. And in the tiny details, we found Nagisa's most decisive advantage: their styles as assassins. Tokaku preferred to take on her opponents head-on. Instead of using stealth, she tended to rely on heavy attack rushes that overwhelms her opponents.
Thea: It would've worked with Nagisa, but Nagisa was used to dealing with those kinds of opponents, like Karma and Takaoka. And his PE Uniform helps him survive those kinds of things.
Bryant: On the other hand, Nagisa is a pure-blooded assassin through and through. And while his most notable feats were a result of him taking opponents head-on, and we portrayed him doing that, he prefers to wait in the shadows, setting a trap for his opponents to fall in and creating openings to take advantage of. While Tokaku may have been skilled enough to counter the initial close ranged attack, Nagisa's superior range with his rifle meant that it would be easy for him to score an immediate kill, and his superior stealth and speed meant that he would be able to do this even without prep time. And Tokaku had no knowledge or defence against the Clap Stunner.
Thea: Even though Karma was able to resist the Clap Stunner, it still affected him. Him biting his tongue was just making sure it didn't affect him completely.
Bryant: What's more, Tokaku losing her emotions usually results in her becoming hesitant and sloppy. Where-as for Nagisa, it makes him into even more of a deadly killing machine.
Thea: Even when the odds were all against him, Nagisa losing control of his bloodlust made even Korosensei think he was going to kill Takaoka. It wasn't that he would be sloppy or dumber than Takaoka, it was that he would kill him!
Bryant: Speaking of which, Nagisa's battles against both Karma and Takaoka are proof that he can go up against opponents who are stronger and more experienced than him.
Thea: Yeah Karma gave him the win in their fight, but the only reason why he even had that choice was because they just happened to land near the knife. Nagisa didn't have the power of any bullsh*t on his side. And while Takaoka did only lose because of the Clap Stunner, Tokaku won't know about it either, so it can still be applied.
Bryant: Again, this was an extremely close fight. All Tokaku would need to do is get a good grip on Nagisa and she would be able to kill him within the next second. But Nagisa's speed, arsenal, techniques, and assassination style was just barely enough to give him a well-deserved win.
Thea: Nagisa just took this Riddling Devil to the Classroom. Which means the winner of this WI Battle is Nagisa Shiota!
With how much I love Nagisa, it's surprising to me that this didn't come out sooner. And while I don't like Tokaku as much, I did enjoy her anime quite a bit, and I also liked her manga. Since it's a chapter in celebration of Death Battle's Anniversary and has Nagisa in it, I decided to do my absolute best with this chapter. Even without this author's note and preview, it's my longest chapter to date, even longer than a double chapter. I hope you enjoyed it. As per the usual, leave a review! Azure out!
Blue fire flared across the land. Trees collapsed as two teens swung swords at each other. One teen was dressed in a school uniform and held a katana. Both teen and katana were covered in identical blue fire. The other was scantily dressed, and wielded a massive half of a scissor. The two charged at each other with another yell.
