Bryant: Winter. It's the time of fun, food, presents, and joy.
Thea: It's also the time of freezing to death, and ruined crops. Yeah, not so bright and cheerful now.
Bryant: Esdeath, the Ice Queen of the Empire.
Thea: And Iceman, Frost King of the X-Men.
Bryant: For this battle, we'll be analyzing Esdeath right before the end of the Civil War in Akame ga Kill's manga. For Iceman, we'll be analyzing him from the comics.
Thea: Yeah, in the movies, he kinda struggles to freeze a door. And in the comics, whoo. The things he is capable of. Yeah, no contest. At all.
Bryant: I'm Bryant Reese.
Thea: And I'm Thea Price.
Bryant: And we're here to analyse these two fighters and find out who would win, a WI Battle!

Bryant: The X-Men. There are so many different heroes with so many different mutant powers. Especially for the elements.
Thea: You want fire? Check out Jean Grey. Lightning or wind? Storm. But if you want ice, you're going to want Iceman.
Bobby Drake:
-Full Name: Robert Louis Drake
-Alias: Iceman
-Height: 5' 8"
-Weight: 145 lbs
-Mutant Level: Omega
-Originally made himself look like a snowman
-Has a fear of being hit by Cyclops by accident
Bryant: But before he was an ice-cold superhero of the X-Men, he was born Robert Louis Drake, aka Bobby, in Floral Park, New York. When he was young, Bobby noticed that he would frequently experience feeling cold. This was how he discovered that he had mutant powers.
Thea: Kind of a boring way to find out, but the result of other people finding out he had powers is a little more, exciting!
Bryant: Thea, a mob gathered and broke into the Drake house, the sheriff literally had to take Bobby into custody for his own protection. And when Scot Summers was sent to recruit him into the X-Men, the mob tried to hang both of them.
Thea: Hey I said that it was a little more exciting. I didn't say it was a good kind of exciting.
Bryant: Ugh, anyways. Bobby and Scott were fortunately saved by Professor Xavier, who used his telepathy to erase the mob's memories. Grateful, Bobby became the second member of the X-Men and enrolled at Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters. There, he learned to use his powers and became Iceman.
Thea: He was pretty nervous at first, but his lighthearted approach would help ease tension with his teammates. Not only that, but he had a lot of awesome powers!

Bryant: His most iconic power is Cryokinesis. Iceman can generate, manipulate, and completely control ice and snow, as well as cold temperatures by manipulating the water molecules in the air. He's immune to other people's cryokinesis as well, due to his own abilities. He can create many different constructs during battle as well, to help him fight. He's formed ladders, slides, shields, domes, bolts, blasts, and beams. He can completely turn into ice, letting him reform his body whenever it's broken. Even when he's been completely incinerated in his human form, he was able to reform himself into his ice form. He can also create spikes, shields, and extra appendages to his ice body. And by controlling his ice, he can even fly.
Thea: He can also create hail storms, snow storms, and freezing rain. He's only really limited by his own imagination. You think he can make a giant ice robot?
Bryant: Well, he did make a giant Voltron.
Thea: Aw yeah!
Bryant: In addition, he can create ice clones of himself, turn a human into ice and back, and spread his consciousness through ice, letting him see everything. At one point, when he created ice all over the planet, he was able to see everything on the Earth at once, similar to omnipresence.
Thea: Damn, who says he's the lamest?
Bryant: He can also control water. It is how he's able to use his powers after all. He can control water at a molecular level, using surround moisture in augment himself. He can even break himself down at a molecular level, transport himself through large bodies of water, and reforming at his destination. He can increase his size and power by combining himself with water, and he's even been able to turn himself mist and still had control over his powers.
Thea: He can lower the temperature around him so much, he reaches absolute zero in a few tenth of a second. And this even lets him see other beings by their heat signature, since he is literally frozen. Wait, how does he even move if he's completely made of ice?
Bryant: He continuously cracks the ice of his body and let's it reform.
Thea: Badass.
Bryant: Iceman has done a lot of impressive feats as one of the most powerful of the X-Men.

Thea: Hell yeah. He created a blizzard that turned into a global Ice Age, froze Juggernaut at the speed of light, and even took on Thor! He's one of the OG X-Men, and he's been in a lot of adventures. He's taken on the likes of Magneto, and the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants. Real creative name there. Then again, Bobby's name is Iceman.
Bryant: He's fast enough to reach escape velocity, and was able to transport both him and Beast over 100,000 miles in one go.
Thea: He fought Spiderman, who tagged the speed of light Quicksilver, and kept up with the Human Torch. You know, the guy who's anti-ice?
Bryant: And while he's most known for his time with the X-Men, he also formed a team called the Champions of Los Angeles, was a part of the Defenders, was a one-time Avenger, and helped form the X-Factor.
Thea: How about that time he got poisoned? He managed to fix the poison, by literally replacing every single one of his molecules with new ones in the air!
Bryant: Indeed, but let's look at that blizzard he made to cover the Earth. The Earth has a surface area of 510.1 trillion meters squared. The energy needed to do this should be over 48 sextillion joules. That's almost 231 trillion times more powerful than the biggest nuclear bomb in history.
Thea: Damn! Can anything stop him?
Bryant: Actually, yes.
Weaknesses:
-Powers are limited due to reluctance
-Powers are reliant on moisture on Earth
-Bigger ice feats require a lot of concentration
-Can still feel pain in his Ice Form
Bryant: His reluctance to use his full power has limited him on several occasions. He still feels pain in his Ice Form, and should the air around him run out of moisture, he loses his abilities.
Thea: Meh, not really a problem when he can pull water to him from all over the friggin planet. His real weakness is keeping a relationship. His girlfriend is partially the reason he was almost hanged. He dated a dude named Romeo but they broke up, he was in a relationship with Lorna Dane who was stolen by Scott's brother, his next potential fling decided to go back to Russia, one of his crushes was actually his daughter, augh, he's like the Baudelaire Children if their bad luck was true in love too.
Bryant: Still, Bobby is easily one of the most powerful of the X-Men. And he still has a lot to learn before he reaches his full potential.
Thea: Love problems aside, you really can't help but respect the Icy badass of the X-Men.
(Iceman) So go ahead, call me a joke if you want. Label me the X-Man with the lamest power ever. But a man of untapped potential? Don't you dare ever call me that again!

Bryant: The Empire. Ruled by a naive, easily fooled, child of a king being manipulated by the greedy, cruel, tyrannical Minister Honest.
Thea: A manipulating minister, named Honest? Irony at its finest.
Bryant: Naturally, as a result of such a terrible government, the people under its rule decided to rebel, forming the Revolutionary Army. The most infamous unit of the Revolutionary Army was Night Raid, a group of assassins made up of some of the deadliest in the world.
Thea: Awesome! But, when the Empire decided that they were tired of a group of assassins was trying to murder all of their head honchos, they decided to form their own group of warriors called the Jaegers.
Bryant: Leading the charge against Night Raid was the Empire's greatest general: Esdeath.
Esdeath:

Thea: I don't like sadists very much. But I do like Esdeath! She's a badass, through and through!
Bryant: Esdeath was born in the Northern Frontier Lands as a part of the Partas Clan. She grew up raised by her father, who made sure to implement a message in her mind, a message she would carry with her all her life: The Strong shall live, and the Weak must die.
Thea: Hardcore!
Bryant: As result of this lesson, Esdeath felt nothing when she returned from an outing to find her entire tribe, dead. Instead, she only vowed to become stronger, and stand on top of the entire world.
Thea: Her conquest led her to the Empire, and her sadistic nature and incredible power helped her rise up the ranks of the army pretty quickly.
Bryant: In recognition of her power, Honest gifted her a Teigu, also known as an Imperial Arms. Weapons formed from powerful monsters known as Danger Beasts, a Teigu can come in the form of multiple different tools.
Thea: A pair of scissors that can cut through anything, a belt that can turn you into a cat-girl, an eyeball that can see into your mind, a rifle that increases in power based on how much danger you're in, and even armor that evolves in battle! But the armor she took was way more hardcore than anything else. Blood!

Bryant: Specifically, she drank the Demon Extract. She drank the entire bucket, despite other people going completely insane from one glass.
Thea: Well, she's probably already insane.
Bryant: True. After managing to tame the Demon Extract, Esdeath gained its power over ice, being able to create, control, and manipulate ice. She's able to create ice out of nothing at all with no base. She can freeze large bodies of water in moments, create weapons, shields, domes, pillars, and giant ice meteors.
Thea: She can also fly by lifting herself around with ice on her hands and feet! Oh, and she can create icy mechs!
Bryant: Even without her icy powers, Esdeath is a skilled swordswoman, capable of keeping up with the likes of Akame, one of the deadliest sword fighters in the world. She has heightened senses and can project her bloodlust as a terrifying aura.
Thea: Bloodlust as aura? She has blue hair, she has blue eyes, and the anime/manga is all about assassins… She's like a sadist, grown up, rule 63 Nagisa with ice powers.
Bryant: Well, she does know a crazy scientist.
Thea: Todoroki would be proud of us.
Bryant: While Esdeath is impressive in her own right, the Demon Extract is her most powerful tool. Especially with her Trump Cards.
Trump Cards:
-Ice Calvary
-Ice Storm
-Mahapadma
Thea: Most Teigus only have one Trump Card, but Esdeath straight up made three! First one is her Ice Calvary, where she makes an entire army out of ice! And then she can just absorb all those ice soldiers to make Ice Storm, a blizzard that covers an entire continent!
Bryant: It's worth noting, however, that she was only able to create this storm after absorbing an army she made over three days. Implying that she can only do a third of this on a daily basis.
Thea: But she doesn't need to absorb sh*t when she uses her ultimate technique: Makapottomus!
Bryant: Mahapadma, it's in the script.
Thea: When she uses this move, she can literally freeze time. Again, she can literally, freeze, time. With ice.
Bryant: I, seriously, don't know how this makes sense.
Thea: Esdeath is a badass, through and through!
Achievements:

-Defeated Tyrant in one blow
-Fought off the Revolutionary army by herself

-Curbstomped Leone, Najenda, Susanoo, and Tatsumi all at once

Bryant: She's defeated armies single-handedly, lead armies to victory, and has full knowledge of a human body, allowing her to torture her enemy in the most painful of ways while they're still awake.
Thea: She's also fast enough to dodge lightning!
Bryant: Which typically moves at speeds equal to about 286 times the speed of sound. In terms of her freezing the continent, the curvature of the planet helps us find that the Ice Storm had a diameter of about 2,470.50 kilometers, or about 2,470,500 meters. This gives it a spread of 4.79 trillion meters squared. The energy needed to make a storm this big is about 454 quintillion joules of energy. Considering that Esdeath needed to stockpile an army of ice soldiers to absorb for three days, this means she can, on one day, generate 151.33 quintillion joules of energy.
Thea: That's 151, followed by two threes, followed by 16 zeros. Damn, with all that power, hard to imagine anyone could beat her. Especially since she's also fast, tough, smart, and skilled! The only thing she really failed at was love. Wait, love? Oh come the f*ck on! What's with these ice people and failed love?!
Bryant: In the end, even though Esdeath was defeated, it took an army of 1 million men, a giant dragon, a cursed sword, and a power up, to finally do so. And even then, she killed countless soldiers and forced Akame to sacrifice her humanity. Hard to truly call that a defeat.
Thea: Esdeath is just one of the most hardcore villains in anime. And that's saying something.
(Esdeath) The weak are destined to lie beneath the boots of the strong. If that angers you, overcome your deficits.

Bryant: Alright, the stage is set, time to start this dance.
Thea: Battle ready, set, GO!
-Line Break-
Esdeath stood on top of a mountain, watching as the army given to her attacked the land she was ordered to conquer. There were several people who reminded her of some of Dr Stylish's organisms. There was a man with metal claws, another man firing beams of energy from his eyes, even one who was creating storms.
"Hm. I suppose I can find at least a semi-challenge here." Esdeath said, bored.
"Well, if it's a challenge you want, I can give it to you." Esdeath perked up at the voice and turned around. Bobby was sitting down on a boulder, staring at her in his normal form.
"Oh? So you think that you're able to take me on?" Esdeath challenged as she drew her sword.
"Lady, you're far from the first big bad I've ever faced." Bobby said. He quickly shifted into his Ice Form, surprising Esdeath. She chuckled and pointed the sword towards him.
"An interesting technique! Let's test its viability!" she said.
Don't freeze up!
Fight!
Esdeath made the first move, slamming her hand on the ground and sending a wave of ice towards Iceman. He sent his own wave of ice towards Esdeath, causing the two attacks to burst up in a spiked ice wall. Esdeath leapt over the wall, creating ice spikes to send towards Bobby. Bobby threw up his hands, causing another wall of ice to burst forwards and block the spikes. Esdeath landed in front of Bobby and slashed him multiple times, her rapier leaving deep gashes in the ice. Bobby yelled in pain before blocking the next slash. He caught the blade and kicked Esdeath. He punched her multiple times before kicking her upwards. He gathered more moisture to repair his body.
"Ugh." Esdeath grunted as she landed. She quickly got back up. She was impressed with Bobby's surprising strength.
"I will admit. You are stronger than I thought." she said as she pointed her rapier towards Iceman.
"Thanks, but flattery will get you nowhere." Iceman said. He slapped a hand on the ground. Esdeath looked down as the ground shook. Ice exploded from underneath, covering her in an icy prison. Iceman punched a fist into his other hand, rearing back as moisture gathered on his hand. Now with an arm of a giant, he threw the fist forwards. Esdeath gave a louder grunt in surprise when the fist shattered the ice and sent her flying. She righted herself in midair, ice forming on her limbs and keeping her afloat.
She shot towards Iceman, surprising him with a powerful kick to the chin. He groaned as he clutched his face. Esdeath kicked him multiple times before stabbing him several times. She finished the combo with an ice pillar from her hand that scraped Iceman across the ground. He managed to dig his feet into the ground, and shoved the pillar up towards the sky. More spiked pillars shot from the ground and pierced the pillar, shattering it multiple times.
"Catch!" Iceman called as he used his giant arm to hurl a large block of ice towards her. Esdeath scoffed as she held one of her ice covered arms towards the incoming ice block. A sharp, sturdy ice spear shot from the ice, impaling the block and causing it to shatter. Bobby looked at this in surprise before jumping back and forming another large chunk of ice.
"I'm growing bored of this." Esdeath said as she created a giant meteor of ice, hurling it towards Bobby. Bobby slammed his hands on the ground, creating a massive pillar that burst into the air. He flipped off the pillar and kicked the pillar, letting it fall towards Esdeath. She swung her rapier and cut the pillar in half. She charged towards Iceman and kicked him downwards. Iceman flipped around and created a slide with his ice, sliding around. He fired several beams of ice towards Esdeath, who flew around the attacks and countering with ice shards.
Iceman flipped over several shards and swiped his hand, sending a glacier towards Esdeath. She created a shield, blocking the glacier's sharp points and being sent flying backwards. She looked up and dodged backwards as Iceman slammed down. She created another ice shield to block more spikes bursting towards her. Iceman leapt towards her and slammed a fist into her face, bouncing her off the ice floor and kicking her into the air. He leapt after her and punched her with another giant fist. She landed and dodged another attack from Iceman. Bobby looked up to form an ice sword and block a slash from Esdeath.
"Time to dance!" Esdeath declared as she uppercutted Bobby. She slashed him multiple times before grabbing him. She spun around and threw him against an ice pillar. Bobby looked up and managed to catch a thrust from Esdeath's rapier. Esdeath smirked before sending an ice straight through Bobby. The pillar shattered, leaving only the glacier. Esdeath ripped her rapier upwards, breaking Iceman and the glacier apart. The shards clattered on the ground.
"Such a disappointment." Esdeath clicked her tongue as she turned around. A chuckle made her stop.
"I'm not done yet!" a fist collided with her face, making her stagger. Another fist hit her from the other side, and a foot collided with her stomach, making her cough. She looked around to see the shards of ice reforming into a small army of Icemen. She swung her rapier towards one of them, cutting its head off. The other ones charged towards her, piling on top of her. Esdeath grunted as she felt the blows raining down on her. She swung her rapier with a powerful force, sending them all back. She dashed around, slashing and breaking the clones relentlessly.
"Do you think that a few clones is enough to defeat me?!" she yelled as she swung her rapier at a low level and swept the clones off their feet. She spun again and sent them all flying off the cliff. She jumped over the cliff's edge and hurled more spikes down towards the clones. They formed large blades on their arms and deflected the spikes.
"Is this all you can do?!" Esdeath challenged.
"No, thanks for asking!" Bobby said from behind her. She spun only to get slammed into by a giant hand. Esdeath grunted as she was crushed against the ground. The hand came off of her before coming down on top of her again. The giant Iceman continued to rain down punches on her before clasping his hands together and raising them up. An ice pillar shot from Esdeath and slammed into his face, sending the giant falling backwards. Esdeath rose up, a wild smile on her face.
"Marvellous! Come! Let us continue!" she said as the giant Iceman got back up. He smacked her with a powerful backhand. Her ankles were grabbed by a clone, who was on top of the other clones in a pillar. The bottom Iceman swung the pillar around before swinging it downwards. Esdeath was hit by the giant in an uppercut, sending her flying towards the sky. She laughed before righting herself. Another icy meteor appeared and was sent flying towards Iceman. He raised up his hands and caught the ball of ice. Esdeath shot down and slammed her feet against the ice, slamming it into Iceman's chest and sending him down onto his back. She landed and looked up at the sight of the giant breaking apart into even more clones. They charged towards her, making her laugh.
"Do you really think that is original?" She taunted. Esdeath raised her hand and pointed towards the army.
"Ice Calvary!" she said. A large army of armored ice centaurs appeared wielding lances and charged towards the Icemen. The two armies clashed. Icemen were catching the thrusts from the centaurs and flipping them over their heads. The centaurs were impaling the clones. Esdeath charged through the clash and chopped off the heads of clones as she flew past them. She flew out of the fray and impaled another clone hanging back. The clone coughed.
"Are you really trying to hide from me?" she growled as she split it in half with a swing of her rapier. She turned to see the clones still fighting her army.
"So, the real one is still hiding amongst the clones." she deduced.
"Try again!" Iceman's voice spoke up. Esdeath glanced around, before suddenly swinging her rapier and shattering an ice spike coming out of nowhere. More spikes appeared, shooting towards her. She danced and flipped around, shattering the spikes as they shot at her. She created an ice wall around her to block the rest. She created a massive pillar of ice, launching her into the air. A cloud of mist appeared around her, shooting more ice spikes towards her. Esdeath spun around, slashing and smashing as quick as she could. She flew away from the cloud.
"Can he turn into clouds?" she wondered. She smirked in excitement. Down below, several Iceman clones stumbled as they swung at the centaurs that dissolved. The ice gathered around Esdeath, and she pointed towards the sky.
"Ice Storm!" she said, her voice echoing. A massive blizzard formed, covering the entire land with ice. Several X-Men managed to dig themselves out of the snow.
"What the hell is Frosty the Snowman doing?" Wolverine growled. Cyclops looked around.
"I don't think this was him." he said. Back with Esdeath, she looked around the snow covered land with a satisfied smile. A sudden lion head shot out from the snow, surprising her. A massive, ice Voltron pulled itself out from the snow. Esdeath stared at it in shock.
"...What the-" a lion head chomped down on Esdeath, who was forced to hold it open. She grunted as the lion slammed down on the ground and dragged her around. The Voltron arm raised itself up and slammed her against the ground multiple times. It threw her up, and Iceman appeared above her with a giant ice hammer.
"Take this Ice Queen!" he yelled as he swung it down onto her. Esdeath spun and tried to catch the hammer, only to get smacked down into the ground, creating a large pillar. The ice Voltron reared back and hit her again, sending up a cloud of dust. The forgotten army of Iceman clones charged up and jumped at Esdeath, raining down hits as the Voltron punched her as well. Esdeath managed to dodge another hit, letting the impact of the Voltron's punch send her flying away. She skidded back, panting in exhaustion.
"Impressive…" she breathed heavily. Iceman landed on the ground.
"What's the matter? Too cold for you?!" Bobby taunted as he leapt towards her. Esdeath grinned.
"As a matter of fact, it's too warm. Mahapadma!" she yelled. A blue light shone from her, encasing the world in her blue energy. Time froze, and Iceman hung in the air in front of her.
"You fought valiantly. Well done." Esdeath admitted as she raised her rapier. Iceman's fist shot forwards, striking her across the face. She staggered back, looking up in shock.
"What?!" she yelled as Iceman grabbed her by the face.
"Too warm huh? Let me fix that for you!" he said. Esdeath's eyes widened before she froze over. Iceman raised his fist and struck the ice statue, letting it shatter. He stood straight as time resumed.
"Guess that was too cold." he laughed.
KO!
Thea: Whelp! Looks like Iceman beat the Ice Queen.
Bryant: Esdeath did have more experience and skill, having been trained since she was a child. And she has shown to be more creative with her ice than Iceman has with his. And as her ice was manifested with her powers only, she didn't really have the same kind of weakness as Iceman. If she could remove all the moisture in the air, Iceman would be powerless.
Thea: But Bobby had everything he needed to keep the fight going. Sure Esdeath is faster on paper, but Bobby fought Spiderman, who was able to tag Quicksilver. Neither are as fast as Quicksilver, but Bobby should be able to keep up with Esdeath.
Bryant: On top of that, Iceman's arsenal was actually able to counter Esdeath's in every way.
Thea: Super senses? He can turn into mist and spread himself around. Ice constructs? He can do that too. Flight? He's got it covered. Ice Calvary? He's got ice clones. Ice Storm? His storm covered the entire planet!
Bryant: Even Esdeath's ultimate Trump Card was outmatched. Iceman was immune to other people cyrokinesis after all. And while Esdeath's superior physical strength was superior to Iceman's, she wouldn't be able to do any lasting damage against his incredible regenerative abilities.
Thea: He wouldn't be able to overpower her, but he wouldn't need to since he can literally manipulate her water molecules! Not only did he have abilities to counter Esdeath's in every way, but he also had more up his icy sleeves than Esdeath did. On top of that, he was way more powerful! Continent, vs planet. Pretty obvious.
Bryant: Esdeath's Ice Storm needed to stockpile an army for three days to cover the continent. We calculated this to mean she can output a total of 151.33 quintillion joules of energy. But Iceman's covered the entire planet, which we calculated to need 48 sextillion joules.
Thea: That's 317 times more powerful than Esdeath! Sure, Bobby was exhausted after that, but Esdeath's would only be able to do that in one day, just like Bobby. Plus, it's going to be pretty hard to get rid of all the water molecules in the air since she could only cover a continent and he can pull more from all over the planet.
Bryant: Esdeath is an incredible opponent to fight against, but Iceman just had the abilities, counters, and power he needed to put a stop to her sadistic campaign.
Thea: Iceman was just the Es-death of her, and she just Ga Kill'd. Which means the winner of this WI Battle is Iceman!
