Chapter 2
Bella stepped through the door of her home, closing the door behind her carefully.
"Hey Bels, I thought you were with Edward?" Charlie called from the living room, over the baseball match playing on the tv.
"I broke up with him," she yelled back.
Instantly, the sound of the tv stopped, and Charlie ran over to her.
"Holy crap, Bels are you okay? What happened?"
She could see in his eyes that he was worried that she would become depressed again.
"I'm fine Dad. He was toxic and manipulative. I'm don't with him."
Charlie visibly relaxed in front of her. "Oh. Well, good. I never liked him."
Bella smiled slightly. "Yeah, I knew that much. I'm gonna go to my room."
She climbed the staircase, and jumped onto the bed as soon as she got in her room. She was about to pull her phone out of her pocket and text Jason about his offer, when she heard a soft tap on the window.
Her first thought was Edward.
Acting on the belief that it was him, she grabbed a the lamp from her bedside table, and prepared to use it. It wouldn't do much good against a super-strong vampire, but it was better than nothing.
Luckily for her, however, it wasn't Edward.
It was a vampire, though. Just not one she had expected. In fact, it was two she had not expected.
Rosalie and Carlisle.
She let out a breath of relief, and set down the lamp, before running to open the window.
"You scared me! I thought you were Edward!" Bella said as soon as they had both climbed inside.
"Why would you think that?" Carlisle asked.
Bella realised her mistake, and quickly said, "Nevermind."
"Bella," Rosalie said softly, staring. "Why did you think that?"
Their eyes met for a second, before Bella looked down and admitted, "Edward used to come in here and watch me sleep before we started dating."
"He did what!" growled Rosalie.
"Bella, I promise we will talk to him about it. That is entirely unacceptable behaviour," Carlisle promised her.
"But that's not why we came here," Rosalie interrupted. "We wanted to apologise for not noticing that Edward was being so toxic."
Bella smiled gently at Rosalie. "It's okay, it wasn't your fault. Thank you for believing me. I mean, he's your brother."
"I'm more feminist than I am his sister," Rosalie scoffed. "I do not defend him at all and I will not be associated with him."
"And, while he may be my son, I believe it impossible to treat someone you love that way," Carlisle chimed in. "We wanted to let you know that we will always be on your side, and we wanted to take you shopping to apologise for Edward's behaviour and perhaps to cheery you up a bit."
Bella grimaced, then smirked. "How about, instead of shopping, we do something else?"
Rosalie and Carlisle exchanged wary looks. "Something else like?"
Bella's smirk grew. "Well, there was something that I wanted to do before I started dating Edward, but he forbade it. How would you feel about doing that?"
"We don't even know what it is," Rosalie reasoned.
Bella waved it off. "That doesn't matter. Are you down or not?"
Rosalie and Carlisle glanced at each tiger, before nodding. "Sure," Carlisle said. "Let's do it."
