Chapter 2

After a long walk from their "home", Gregory and Heather arrived at the Pizzaplex to satisfy their growling stomachs, but hunger pains aren't going to be the only thing they need to be worried about.

Gregory and Heather walked through the streets of Hurricane with their hands still clasped with each other. On their way they couldn't help but overhear the things that the people around them were saying.

"Have you heard the news?"

"Another attack happened yesterday."

"Who do you think the Fazbear Fright is?"

"Why would anyone want to kill an innocent child?"

"Deja vu... Not again."

They stopped walking when they approached a group of people at a crosswalk that were patiently waiting for the light to change. Gregory looked across the street and noticed a woman who was looking at one of the missing people posters taped to the wall of a clothing store. The poster had an image of a man who looked no older than twenty-five with short red hair and bright blue eyes. The woman who was looking at the poster was crying. Gregory couldn't help but wonder who the man was to that woman.

'Who was that guy? Was he her brother or something?'

As far as Gregory knew he didn't have any blood-related siblings so he wasn't able to sympathsize as much with the woman. Heather tugged on Gregory's hand to let him know the light had changed. They followed the group of people that were crossing the street and then walked in the direction of the crying woman.

While walking past her Gregory overheard the woman whisper, "Aaron, I'm so sorry. What am I going to tell our son?"

'So that was her husband...' Gregory thought to himself.

Missing people posters were becoming a common occurence in Hurricane. Many parents were becoming hesitant in letting their children play outside for long periods of time because of this "Fazbear Fright". Some were surprised that the Fazbear Fright hadn't started breaking into homes or attacking residents in public, but if the police didn't catch the "Fazbear Fright" soon it could escalate to that point. The idea of a dangerous person attacking someone was enough to make any child too scared to sleep at night.

Heather looked up at the sky and noticed a few storm clouds began to roll in.

"Come on, Gregory. We gotta hurry. I don't wanna get soaked again like last time," she said as they began to quicken their pace towards their destination.

When Gregory and Heather arrived at the Pizzaplex they stopped near the entrance to the large three-story building that shined like a beacon of hope in the now despair-filled town. The children looked at the Pizzaplex as Gregory muttered, "I wish you were here, Vincent."

Before he had been attacked Vincent had promised Gregory that he would take him on a special tour of the Mega Pizzaplex. Gregory even wanted to take Heather with him. Unfortunately, since the Robotology Ruler was now spending his days lying in a hospital bed on life support, that tour was not going to happen anytime soon.

Gregory regained his focus as he and Heather walked to the front entrance. They then saw a family standing in front of a strange robot that had no mouth and a pair of unnerving eyes. Two beams of blue light emanated from its eyes that scanned a little girl in the family.

Once the robot finished its scan it let out a series of technical sounds before it said, "Guest profile found. Hello, Emily. Welcome back to Freddy Fazbear's Mega Pizzaplex."

The little girl smiled with delight as the doors opened for her and her parents to walk through. Heather reailzed there was now a serious problem.

"We need guest profiles to get in?" she groaned as she let go of Gregory's hand.

She feared that if they tried to go through the front door without guest profiles the robot would call for security and kick them out immediately.

"There's gotta be some other way to get in, right?" Gregory asked.

The children managed to find what appeared to be a loading dock at the back of the Pizzaplex. They ducked behind boxes and vehicles to avoid being detected by the employees. They dashed past security cameras the best they could until they found an air vent. Heather kneeled down to take off the covering while Gregory began to feel unsure if this way of entry was a good idea after all. While he mentally debated on whether or not they should enter the air vent he felt a small drop of water on his left shoulder. He looked at his shoulder as they both started to hear the sounds of water touching many different surfaces. When they looked up at the sky they found their answer. It was raining.

"I just HAD to say something, didn't I?" Heather groaned.

They looked back at the way they came from while more and more raindrops fell from the sky. Gregory and Heather knew that going back was no longer an option. They'd reather not go back to their "home" empty-handed or get sick from staying out in the rain. At that moment Gregory turned his attention to the air vent and said, "Well, we can't turn back now."

Heather pulled the grate off the vent and placed it on the ground. She motioned for Gregory to go first since he was shorter than her. He nodded as he crawled inside. Heather then went next and once she was in she pulled the grate back into place and started crawling after the boy through the air vents. The children spent what felt like hours crawling through the vents. In that time they felt their hands picking up more and more dust and felt cobwebs in their hair. It was so dark that they could barely see their own hands moving across the cold metal ground. They did find some light while traversing through the vents but it didn't help them very much. Suddenly, something caught Gregory's and Heather's attention.

"What's that smell?" Gregory whispered.

"Don't know. But whatever it is smells pretty good," Heather whispered back.

They kept following the scent until Gregory's body was on top of an air vent grate and fell through. Gregory and the grate fell to the ground with a bang.

"Gregory! You okay?" Heather said with a concerned tone.

"Yeah, I'm fine," Gregory replied while holding his scraped left knee.

Heather looked through the hole and saw Gregory. She sighed in relief as she asked, "Is there anything I can land on down there?"

Once the pain died down he pulled out a band-aid and placed it on his left knee. Once it was patched up he looked around and saw a silver cart with black wheels on it. He looked inside and saw nothing but black bags that were full of trash.

"Here's a cart full of garbage. Will that work?" he asked.

"Yeah, yeah. Just roll it to where I'm at," she said as she began to climb down.

Gregory did as Heather said and rolled the cart to the vent that he fell out of. Once she saw the cart and let go of the metallic edge. She fell off and landed in the cart.

"Nice aim, little guy," she said as she pulled herself out.

Once she was safe, they continued to follow the mouth-watering scent until they found its source: a large pizza sitting on a table. They crept into the room and looked at the pizza. The steam that rose from it further enticed them both to just gobble it up on the spot, but Heather pointed to the sink to remind each other to wash their hands. Once the cobwebs were out of their hair and their hands were dust-free Gregory and Heather chowed down on the pizza. Having food that didn't have mold on it was a nice change for Gregory. He hadn't had a warm meal since the last time he saw Vincent. After they devoured the pizza Heather noticed a few wrapped candies in a bowl. The candies were "Sundrops", "Moondrops", and "Stardrops", which depicted a smiling sun, a sleeping moon, and a smiling star.

"Hey, Gregory. Check these out. Wanna take some for the road?" Heather said as she pointed to the bowl.

Gregory nodded as they both put a few of each candy in their pockets. But once they finished a bright light was shone on them. The source of the light came from a caucasian woman with green eyes and blonde hair wearing a security guard uniform.

"Hey, kids! What are two doing back here? This area's off-limits to guests!" the woman said.

Gregory knew this meant trouble while Heather just stared at the security guard. There was something... familiar about her but she couldn't put her finger on it at the moment. Gregory grabbed Heather's arm as they ran to the door, not wanting them to get kicked out into the rain.

"Hey! Get back here!" the security guard shouted.

This feeling wasn't new to Gregory and Heather. They've ran away from people they stole from in the past, but sometimes they were caught and beaten until they were unconscious. Gregory and Heather managed to enter a large hallway and found a door leading to the Main Atrium of the Pizzaplex. They slipped inside through the door and blended in with the large crowd inside. When the security guard entered the Atrium she looked around the room to find Gregory and Heather but lost them in the crowd. Once she left the area Gregory and Heather breathed a sigh of relief. After the children caught their breath they heard an announcement saying the Glamrocks were about to play. Excitement flooded the room and Gregory and Heather were able to find a good spot to see them perform.

At last, they could feel true excitement well up inside them.
