Humphrey's POV

"Oh come on, I'm just poking some fun. Besides don't act like you're not proud of it" Lilly teased as Rick finished fitting the air conditioner. I laughed as I held the window, earning a quick look from Rick where he stopped in his tracks for a moment. I shrugged at him with a grin, making him laugh lightly just before he finished.

"Well I don't know about you guys but we haven't had sex in literal months. Your sister and I just kinda needed it" Rick explained jokingly.

"Cute, but I really never saw her so out of it. Think you can do that for me one day?" Lilly asked jokingly. My heart skipped a beat for a second but I knew it was only a joke. Plus Rick's response made me feel assured.

"You bet" he said sarcastically, making her giggle. He then turned to me and nudged to the window. I nodded and slid it down on top of the AC. like Kate's it fit perfectly. I then grabbed the cord and went to plug it in. "high?" Rick asked.

"Oh yeah, I'm ready to take a nap" Lilly answered. I heard a click behind me as Rick set the position of the switch. Once I plugged it in I then heard it begin to blow air as expected.

"All good?" I asked.

"Oh yeah. So what are you boys gonna do anyway?" Lilly asked. I looked over at Rick as he looked at me. He didn't say anything though.

"I'm sure we'll think of something" I answered as I walked over to her and then cupped her muzzle to pull her into a loving kiss. She pecked my lips, giving me the sweet taste that I loved and smiled.

"Why don't you come back tonight? Enjoy the air with me?" she asked seductively as I felt the outline of her smile on my lips, keeping my eyes closed. I opened them and smiled back with a chuckle.

"Sounds lovely," I said. Just then Rick walked past me and out of the room, causing Lilly to pull back and call to him.

"Bye Rick" she called cheerfully.

"Bye" he called back. She then turned back to me and gave me another smooch.

"I really do want to see if you can make me look like that" she said, referring to Kate and her after sex state. But as far she could always just look like that after sex. I also felt a tad bit odd with her comparing me to what Rick could do, honestly making me feel a little insecure. "Up to you, saves me the gas, '' Rick said. I shook my head with a smile and walked out the front, letting Rick go behind me so that he could lock the door and such. Honestly it was weird how both of us were acting like nothing happened the day before, but I knew it wouldn't be long until the real awkwardness set in. We walked to my car and hopped inside, me of course being behind the wheel and Rick in the passenger seat. We sat in silence as I held my finger up, twirling my keys in circles.

"So where to?" I asked, turning to him again. Rick thought for a moment but like me came up empty. "How about my place until we think of something" I suggested.

"That's fine," Rick said. I nodded, putting the keys in the ignition and starting the car. The ride was pretty quiet at first, making it all feel really awkward but eventually Rick broke the silence. "So graduation… what did you and Lilly get up to once we left the restaurant?" he asked. I laughed.

"Hey so… when you went to your truck that night and came back with Lilly, what were you talking about?" I asked. Rick seemed to tense up at the question.

"Why?" he asked. I shrugged.

"Just wondering why you were holding hands when you come back is all" I said, not to start anything but to be honest. I really did want to know as well as Kate but I don't think she asked him, and Shaky was to stupid to notice.

"Well, she came to talk to me to see if I was okay. I was just upset about graduation is all, and she helped me out" Rick explained.

"Upset?" I asked.

"My family, I didn't get to see them," Rick said. Oh… how could I forget?

"Shit, sorry I didn't mean-"

"It's okay. I know you didn't mean anything, and I know you trust me and Lilly to not do anything. Even Though she is more than willing to admit she still has a thing for me" Rick said, now making me feel a bit odd.

"Want me to talk to her about it?" I asked, offering a glance for a moment.

"No, it's fine. Honestly I find it funny and… in some contexts kind of sweet" Rick answered. I nodded, satisfied with the answer.

"I'm glad you two are so close" I said.

"I'm glad that she has you. You two are really cute together" Rick said, offering a smile. I smiled as well but not at him as I had to keep an eye on the road, and with my house just around the corner, the rest of the ride was relatively silent. When we did end up getting to my place we both walked up to the front as I took my keys out. Rick waited for me to unlock everything, looking around at the neighborhood behind us for a moment until I got the door open. I stepped inside and Rick followed just as my mom was walking over to the kitchen, meeting us on the way.

"Hey Humphrey, everything alright?" she asked.

"All good, just spending a moment with Rick for awhile-"

"Rick?" she asked, turning around to look behind me. I guess she didn't notice him. She offered a sympathetic smile and welcomed him with open arms. "Rick, baby. How is everything?" she asked after hugging him. She hadn't seen him since everything happened, and I hadn't told her about our little fight so this was the first time she had heard anything outside of yeah mom, he's fine.

"Everything has been great actually. Just… a little more healing is all" Rick answered. Mom nodded.

"I'm sure. You know if you ever need a place to stay, my door is always open" she replied.

"Thank you," Rick said. Mom smiled again.

"Of course" she told him, finally letting go of his arm and letting us walk to the backyard. As we walked out the back door and over to the small table and chairs Rick asked me something that made me feel dumb.

"If we were just gonna come out here then why didn't we just use the fence?" he asked. I bit my lip as I sat down.

"Shut up" I said, earning a light laugh from Rick as he sat next to me. I laughed with him but the smiles didn't last long and again fell to awkward silence. Rick was the one who broke it.

"So… we can keep acting like nothing happened, and while that would be easier it wouldnt be respectful. I know you meant what you said that day on the sidewalk, and I never really got a chance to say it back to you so I wanted you to know… I love you too… you're my brother Humphrey. I would die for you, just like I know you would die for me, and Shaky, and Lilly… and I'm just… I'm so s-"

"I know you are Rick… you don't have to say it '' I told him. We locked eyes and I offered a small smile. "Family's fight sometimes. Nothing you can really do about it. What matters is that we forgive and move on, and I know how much you love Kate… that's why I stopped that day. You know on top of everything else" I said with a hint of laughter, causing Rick to return it. "There is something though… something I think you should know going forward" I added.

"What?" Rick asked. I prepared myself for saying what I wanted to, hoping it wouldn't harm us but I felt confident it wouldn't.

"I love Lilly, I really do. She's the one that I want to marry, have pups with, and love forever and ever. That being said though… I still have feelings for Kate. that's never gonna go away. She was my first ever crush and hanging around her all this time, getting to know her even more I just… I'm always going to love her in more ways than one, and sometimes I do wish I was in your shoes but… I'm really happy with who I have as well" I said. It took a moment for Rick to say anything, and I could see that he was trying to remember something, making me question what before he spoke.

"Humphrey… It's okay. You had your chance, you didn't take it, I thank you for that. I still trust you and her. The reason is because well… I think what you just said applies to Lilly too. Only she is very up front about it" Rick said, making me laugh but also realize that what he said wasn't wrong.

"So we're good?" I asked.

"Always" Rick said, holding out his hand. I accepted it and while we did shake it seemed off, like it wasn't enough. We stopped, holding each other's hand for a moment before I stood up and hugged him. He chuckled and hugged me back. "Sorry," Rick said.

"I told you not to apologize," I replied.

"Too late" Rick said just before breaking the hug. We took our seats again and then I sighed.

"So Lilly told me that her dad is gonna clean out the pool soon. It's gonna be a fun summer" I said. Rick nodded with a smile but I noticed it disappear rather quickly along with his ears flattening. I knew he was thinking of his sister and what could have been. "So uh… any ideas on what to do?" I asked. Rick turned to me again.

"Still got that pool table in the basement?" he asked.

"Yep" I answered.

Kate's POV

I woke up feeling extremely loose and as if I was on a cloud. Even with the disturbance halfway through that was probably the best sleep I had in so long. I opened my eyes, blinking a couple of times, clinging to the covers as the air conditioner had my room the perfect amount of freezing, all while playing its heavenly hum. Taking my head out of my pillow my hair felt extremely messy. I yawned and lifted the covers off of me. I felt so well rested it wasn't even funny. "Claim?" she asked.

"Basically… he started catching feelings for Stephanie, didn't want to betray Angel so he broke off from her, and it is not going lightly on him" Lilly explained. Immediately I felt the urge to call him.

"Oh, maybe I should call him," I said, pulling out my phone.

"He asked to be left alone for a bit. Not like before, he just wants a day or two to think. It's a bummer because I thought I could invite the two of them on our little trip" Lilly smiled, making me feel confused.

"Trip? What trip?" I asked.

"Oh I didn't tell you? About our little Friday the 13th celebration?" Lilly asked. I shook my head. "Alright so the night of graduation. Humphrey and I got done doing our thing, you know. And we end up watching Friday part seven. And you know there's like fifteen different sex scenes in that one so we start going again. "Sure," she said. From that moment on we played and hung out like we used to, until around eleven when our parents were home, and the boys were just coming back. I heard them greet our parents downstairs, and then they're footsteps as they came up. However it was Rick's cute light southern accent that I heard first. "If you were in his shoes you would do the same. I know you would. What did you guys do?" I asked.

"I'm glad. Didn't think you would be so late coming home though" I said.

"Will your mom mind?" Rick asked. I shook my head.

"No, maybe a little with Humphrey, but since my mom greeted you guys so well I guess not. It might have something to do with knowing you guys so well. Speaking of which, did Humphrey ever tell you what he and my mom talked about a few weeks back?" I asked.

"Yeah. pretty anti climatic though. She basically just forgave him but was really stern about it" Rick explained. I felt my ears flatten again.
