Chapter 5

Freddy wakes up from his accident on stage and meets Gregory. The beloved animatronic bear decides to help him leave the Pizzaplex before it closes and promises to find Heather. We also see how Gregory and the Robotology Ruler first met.

It was a nice sunny day. Gregory had managed to outrun an enraged man he had stolen $10.00 from. The small child went to a large park to stay hidden until he knew for certain that the man was gone. When the coast was clear, he came out of his hiding spot and walked around the park to see if he could find any loose change on the ground. After finding a few discarded dimes and nickels he started walking down a hill.

Unfortunately, he tripped and tumbled down the hill. Instead of breaking any of his bones, he recieved a nasty scrape on his right elbow after colliding with the pavement. His elbow felt like it was being stabbed by hundreds of tiny needles. He then felt some of his blood flow out of the open wound and tears stream out of his eyes. With Gregory curling into a ball in pain on the concrete ground, he heard a stranger's voice cry out in concern.

"Hello?! Are you alright?!"

Gregory looked up to see who was talking to him. He couldn't see the person clearly due to his tears blurring his vision but he could tell from the stranger's voice that it was a man. The stranger extended his hand to the little boy on the ground to help him stand up. Gregory grabbed his hand and was pulled up. He was able to get a better look at the mysterious man when he got back on his feet.

The stranger who helped him was a caucasian man who looked to be in his late twenties or early thirties with short blonde hair, hazel eyes and was wearing a dark blue long-sleeved button-up shirt, black pants, brown business shoes, and a white leather jacket. He held a brown suitcase in his left hand.

The man was about to ask the small child why he was crying, but when he looked at his bleeding elbow he understood the problem and knew exactly what to do.

"Here. Let me help you," he said in a comforting tone.

The man put his suitcase down and reached into the left pocket of his pants and pulled out a disinfectant sheet pack and a band-aid. He took out a wipe and placed it on Gregory's bleeding elbow. The boy was too busy being confused by what the man was doing to feel the small jolt of pain when the disinfectant-covered sheet made contact with his cut skin.

'Why? Why is this guy helping me?' Gregory thought to himself.

This was the first time an adult was treating an injury for him. He never recieved this sort of kindness from his so-called "guardians". Once the bleeding stopped the man threw the bloody sheet in a nearby garbage can and placed a band-aid over the cut. Gregory was brought back to reality when he felt the band-aid stick to his elbow. The man smiled when the band-aid was applied.

"Feel better now?" he asked as he picked his suitcase back up.

Gregory turned to the man and nervously responded, "Y-yeah. Thanks m-mister."

"Vincent. The name's Vincent."

Gregory always got nervouse whenever he met a new person.

"Thanks, Vincent. My name is Gre-Gregory," The boy stuttered.

"It's nice to meet you, Gregory. I'm glad I could help."

Before they could continue conversing, the two boys heard a voice shouting from someone.

"Gregory! There you are!" the voice said.

A tanned fifteen year old girl with shoulder-length auburn red hair and blue eyes wearing a pink shirt that showed her shoulders, blue shorts, white cat-shaped knee socks, pink sneakers with white laces and soles, and a black jacket with blue cuffs tied around her waist ran up to the surprised child and stopped to catch her breath.

"Ennora? What are you doing here?" Gregory asked.

"We need to get back. It's almost time for dinner," Ennora said.

She was right. If they were late for dinner then both children would end up going hungry again. Ennora turned her attention to Vincent and said, "I'm sorry if he's caused any trouble for you."

"No. He didn't do anything wrong," Vincent replied. "I suppose it is getting late. I should be getting home myself."

Ennora began tugging Gregory's arm hinting that they needed to leave now.

"Oh, then don't let us hold you up. It was nice meeting you sir," Ennora said.

Vincent looked at the two children and waved goodbye. Gregory waved back and walked away with Ennora. On one hand, Gregory didn't want to be the reason why Ennora would miss dinner. But on the other hand, he wanted to speak to Vincent more. He didn't want to go back to that prison called the "Demonte residence".

A few hours after what happened on stage, Freddy's system was rebooting. His HUD was surrounded by light blue lights with a message in the center that read: "Safety Mode Engaged".

Once the rebooting process was complete, Freddy opened his eyes and stared at his reflection in his mirror. His data was fragmented after being deactivated for a few hours but he started to recall what happened.

"Showtime already? No... I experienced a malfunction on stage. My recharge cycle is not complete then."

While the animatronic bear continued to recall the events from earlier today, he unintentionally woke up the sleeping child inside his stomach hatch.

"Shh... would you please keep it down!" the child said as he tapped on the hatch door.

This caught Freddy off guard.

"Who said that?" he asked.

Gregory quickly realized his mistake and cupped his mouth with his hands. Freddy waited for the voice to say more as he looked around his green room looking for the person it belonged to.

"Please. Do not be afraid. I promise I will not harm you," he said in a soft tone.

Gregory heard what Freddy said but was still hesitant to respond. However, he had a feeling that Freddy would eventually figure out where he was hiding. Hopefully, he wouldn't recieve a harsh punishment if he came clean and apologized quickly.

"I did... I'm down here," he reluctantly said.

Freddy was still puzzled.

"Down where? I still do not see you."

"Okay, listen. You were asleep so... I opened your stomach hatch and... climed inside." the boy said nervously.

"My stomach hatch? That place is reserved for oversized birthday cakes, presents, and pinatas! It is not a safe play area for any child!" Freddy said as his blue eyes widened.

Freddy turned from the dresser to open his stomach hatch. Gregory let out a small yelp as he slid out and was being held in Freddy's hands.

"There you are," Freddy said in a relieved tone.

Gregory felt nervous as Freddy used beams of light from his eyes to scan him. Once he was finished he gently placed Gregory on the ground.

"Scanning complete. Hmm... how odd. Your guest profile is unknown to me. Who are you?"

'Right. We don't have guest profiles since we technically snuck in,' Gregory thought as he said, "I'm... Gregory."

"Gregory... I will notify the main office," Freddy said.

He made a few technical noises when he tried to contact the main office. However, he was unable to call them after his processor let out a beep.

"Huh? Connection error? I cannot connect to the main network."

Gregory already knew why Freddy couldn't access the main network. He felt like he should tell Freddy what happened when he was asleep.

"It was him. He cut you, Stardrop, and Astre off," Gregory said.

This caused Freddy to become even more confused.

"Stardrop and Astre are having this problem too? And who do you mean by "him"? Does your father work here?" Freddy asked as he slightly tilted his head.

As far as Gregory knew he didn't have a father, and he would never consider that he-beast Mr. Demonte one.

Suddenly, he heard someone walking outside of the green room.

"Shh! I hear footsteps!"

Gregory pulled the curtain he was hiding behind back a little to see who it was. He saw the woman now known as Vanessa looking around outside.

"That is one of the security guards Vanessa. She can help us," Freddy said.

The suggestion made Gregory tense up.

"No! I don't trust her!"

"Why not?" Freddy asked.

"I don't know who she is, but she's trying to get me and Heather," Gregory whispered.

"Heather? Who is that? Your sister?" Freddy asked.

"No. She's my only friend. We got separated when you had your accident," Gregory whispered as he patted his pocket which had his star pin. "I can't leave without her."

"I see..." Freddy said.

Freddy did not understand why Gregory did not trust Vanessa but understood his worry for his friend. Freddy had an idea. He opened one of the drawers on the blue dresser and pulled out two wristwatches that looked like him and Roxy.

"Here. Take these with you," he said as he gave the watches to Gregory.

"What are these?" Gregory asked.

"These are novelty Faz-Watches. The Roxy one is for your friend. It will allow the three of us to communicate."

Gregory took the one that looked like Freddy and put it on his right hand while he put the Roxy one in his pocket. Once it was on he heard a beeping sound.

"What was that?!" Gregory said.

"I am sending you an encoded message." Freddy responded.

Gregory looked at his Faz-Watch to see the message Freddy sent.

"Hello, Gregory. It is me, Freddy. I will escort you to the main entrance and search for Heather afterwards. However, I am unable to leave this room. You should have no problem. There is a button on the wall that will open the door to the backroom. I will make it accessible to you now."

Part of Gregory felt that he didn't need Freddy's help to find Heather and leave the Pizzaplex, but another part of him said that he could get caught by Vanessa or that Dave guy if he tried to find her and escape on his own, so maybe he could let Freddy help him.

Gregory turned his attention to the Freddy-shaped button on the wall and walked to it. The button was close to an arcade cabinet called "Street Skate Superstar". Once he psuhed it the door opened.

"Well done, Gregory. There is an open air vent inside the maintenance room. You will have to climb through the ventilation system and release me from the outside." Freddy said.

Gregory looked into the storage room and took note of how dark the room was.

"It's pretty dark in there."

"There is nothing to be scared of. You can do it, Gregory."

Those words of encouragement helped calm Gregory down. He knew he wouldn't get anywhere by standing around doing nothing. He took a deep breath to help build up his confidence.

"Okay, you can do this, Gregory. You've gone to worst places than this," he muttered.

Before he walked in, he turned to Freddy and said, "Freddy... Sorry about hiding in your stomach hatch earlier."

Freddy gave the small boy a reassuring smile.

"Do not worry, Gregory. I forgive you."

"Thanks," the boy said with a smile.

Gregory walked into the backroom and looked around for the air vent. He found the vent above a stack of boxes. He climbed up the boxes until he reached the vent.

Being a light and scrawny kid did have some advantages.

He started crawling through the vent. The vent was decently lit this time. He stopped when he saw a room that was barely lit. All Gregory could see were cyan walls and a bright orange basketball.

'Weird... Is there another animatronic here?' he thought as he kept moving through the vents.

He stopped when he was near Roxy's room and heard the animatronic wolf talking to herself.

"Your performance was perfect tonight! Thank you. Your hair is beautiful. Your tail is beautiful. Everyone was watching you. Everyone loves you. Everyone wants to be you. You are the best. Thank you. I am the best. Your fans are watching you right now... I know."

Gregory did think her keytar solo during the show was cool, but her attitude reminded him of a self-centered girl he knew. He kept moving through the vents until he was startled by the sounds of things breaking and Monty growling in frustration. Gregory did not know what made Monty so angry but he did not want to find out and chose to keep moving.

When he was near Chica's room he saw her practicing her guitar in her mirror.

'Wow... She's really good.' The small boy thought to himself.

When he finally found the exit he dropped down and brushed the dust off his shirt. Once he finished the intercom played an announcement.

"Ladies, gentlemen, and non-binarys, thank you for visiting, and we hoped you enjoyed the show! Freddy and the gang are pretty tired, but they'll be back again next week after some scheduled maintenance! Please make your way to the front of the building where you will be given novelty glasses, a voucher for one free soda refill, a CD with the band's latest songs, and where you will sign a legal disclaimer releasing us of all liability for anything that may have happened during your visit. Have an awesome night, and we'll see you again soon!"

That mention of the legal disclaimer made Gregory feel uneasy. He did not know what it meant, but he could tell it was bad.

Gregory began to make his way past the other green rooms of the Glamrocks. Getting past Chica and Monty wasn't hard due to the former being so focused on playing her guitar and the latter having his curtains covering the window, but Roxy was a different story. Her curtains weren't drawn and she certainly wasn't playing her instrument. Gregory moved as quickly and quietly as he could. He managed to get away from her window just before a nearby light was flickering and caught the wolf's attention. When he got to the room he saw back in the vents, he noticed on the ground that there was a message.

"So I got the update from Management. Not only did they retheme Cherrie's room for Roxanne Wolf, but they're also gonna retheme Bella's room for the new drummer coming in. Those poor girls..."

'So Roxy's room used to be the Cherrie animatronic's? And the room I saw before was Bella's? Maybe I can ask Freddy about them.'

The small boy looked up and saw a large cardboard cutout that portrayed a large pirate ship, a fox pirate, a salmon pink-skinned mermaid with a aqua blue tail, and a Kraken. He noticed something shining in the Kraken's mouth. When he got a closer look at it he discovered that it was a disc.

"Huh? What's this?" The boy said to himself.

He took the disc and put it inside one of his pockets.

Freddy saw Gregory outside his window and waved at him. Gregory couldn't help but giggle at how goofy Freddy looked. When he tried to open the door, it would not budge.

"Freddy, the door won't open," Gregory said.

"Oh? You are going to need a Photo Pass to open the door. Apologies, I assume you had one already," Freddy said.

"Do you know where I can find one?" Gregory asked.

"Well... You should be able to find one at a Convenience Counter. There is one located behind that shutter door."

"Okay... By the way. Do you know what time the Pizzaplex closes?" Gregory asked.

"The Mega Pizzaplex closes at midnight."

'Midnight?! There's no way I'm gonna be able to find Heather and get out now!' Gregory thought as he worried for Heather's safety.

He looked at his Faz-Watch and saw the time: 11:38 PM.

If he wanted to either get out of the Pizzaplex in time or go reunite with Heather, he needed to hurry. As he walked to the shutter door Gregory noticed a message on a bench.

"CUSTOMER COMPLAINT- We paid for the Glamrock Freddy Mega Deluxe Party Package and Freddy broke down as soon as he got on stage. We paid to have him at our table and sing "Happy Birthday"! He was supposed to give my daughter her angel food birthday cake! My little girl's birthday has been ruined! I demand a refund!"

Gregory felt a little sorry for the girl.

The shutter door got stuck when it was opening. Fortunately, it left enough space for Gregory to crawl under. Once he got through, he started to look around the dark room for the Photo Pass. He looked behind a reception desk only to find a empty Freddy Fazbear themed backpack next to a Monty t-shirt rolled into a ball.

'Maybe I can put my pin on that backpack, and I'm sure no one will notice some stuff going missing.' Gregory thought to himself as he took out his blue star pin and put it on the zipper's hole.

He then took the balled up Monty t-shirt, straightened it out, and put it in the backpack. He zipped it up and put the backpack on. He then noticed another CD that was hidden behind a cardboard cutout of a white and pink bear and put it in his pocket.

"Where is the Photo Pass?" Gregory said out loud.

Suddenly, a light turned on near a cardboard cutout of Freddy that had a present box in front of it.

'It can't be in there, could it?' Gregory wondered.

He opened the box and found what he was looking for.

"Freddy, I found a Photo Pass."

"Good job, Gregory. Now, please come let me out." Freddy said.

Gregory held the Photo Pass near Freddy's door and it opened, revealing Freddy with a big grin on his face.

"Way to go, Superstar! I knew you could do it." Freddy said with the tone of a proud dad. "I know how to get you out of here. Climb back into my chest cavity. There is still time, but we must hurry. If I am spotted I will certainly be taken back to my room. I will escort you to the main exit through the utility tunnels. It is the safest path."

Gregory would have objected to entering Freddy's stomach hatch again. But right now he needed to get out as soon as possible. If not, at least he could stay here to find Heather.

"Okay, but please be careful while you're moving around. I promise I won't touch anything in there," The small boy said. "Oh, yeah! I found this backpack. Is it alright if I keep it?"

"Well... It is unlabeled. I suppose it would not be a problem," Freddy said as he looked at it.

When he saw the blue star pin on the zipper, he asked, "Gregory... Where did you get that pin?"

"Oh, this? It used to be on my baby blanket, but I lost it. Why do you ask?" Gregory replied.

"N-no reason..." Freddy said.

"By the way, I found these CDs. Do you know what's on them?" Gregory said as he took the two CDs from his left pocket.

Freddy looked at the two CDs that Gregory handed to him.

"Hmm... I am not sure what the contents of these CDs are, but I will keep them here for the time being."

With that, Freddy walked over to his dresser and put the CDs inside one of its drawers. His stomach hatch opened and Gregory climbed back inside. He had enough room to move around a little, so he rested comfortably against Freddy's core again. The hatch closed and Freddy began walking towards a set of red double doors.

Woohoo! I finally got the duo together! I felt like this would be the appropriate chapter to talk about how Gregory and Vincent met for the first time as well as Gregory's old foster home before he became homeless. I decided to change the way Gregory got his Faz-Watch because... Freddy just HAVING it in his chest cavity after Gregory got out of it in the original Security Breach just bothered the FREAK out of me. Also, I'm going to have some of the original messages a bit reworked in the context of Rewired and put in some messages of my own that will be relevant. I gave Gregory the Freddy backpack as a way for him to keep his share of collectibles. By the way, some of the CDs won't be in here because I'm saving them for when RUIN comes out. So until the contents of the Rewired CDs are shown, Freddy and Gregory will be keeping them safe.
