A few moments later, Blythe and Lexie were back in the room. "Here she is, Scotty." Gently Blythe handed Lexie over to Scotty, who gratefully took his daughter in his arms. "Oh, lassie…" Gently he hugged her. "Daddy… I tried…" Lexie sobbed into her dad's chest, she felt terrible about not being able to help Zosia. Scotty placed a hand on the girls head and began to run it through her hair. "Shh. It's alright, lass. I know you tried to help her, but it seemed she didn't wish to admit she needed it." But Lexie gently shook her head against Scotty's chest. "I should have helped her… I should-" Lexie stopped when she felt the set of arms holding her tighten slightly, making her feel even more warm. "You can only help those who wish to help themselves, lassie. Don't blame yourself for that, okay?" This time around Scotty could feel Lexie nodding her head against his chest. His eyes then noticed Grace looking down into the abyss. "Grace? You alright?" Grace swallowed hard before nodding. "I… guess so. I just… never expected it to end this way…" Kirk stepped over and placed a comforting hand on Grace's shoulder.
"I'm sorry, Grace. She might have done some horrible things, but she was still your mother." Kirk could see the young girl fighting back the tears, he didn't know what to do. Did he hug her? Say something? But it seemed he wouldn't need to do anything since both Blythe and Evrim came over, wrapping their arms around the girl. "It's alright, sweetie." Evrim said softly as she stroked Grace's hair to calm her. "It's alright to cry, Grace." Blythe stated and it didn't take a second for Grace to burst into tears, burying her head into Blythe's chest. Kirk stepped away, even though he didn't really know these people well, he knew Grace was in good hands. Just like he knew that Lexie was in good hands with Scotty, they were made for each other. It seemed like it was their destiny to find one another, after walking through hell to get there. Suddenly, Kirk was dragged out of his tiny daydream by Scotty yelling Lexie's name. He span round to see that the young Engineer wasn't conscious anymore, but was laying limp in her dad's arms. "Lassie? Lassie! Wake up!" McCoy had already ran over to the pair, closely followed by Chekov who was holding Delta in his one healthy arm. "She needs to be in a hospital. Now!" McCoy cried. Scotty nodded as he stood up, cradling his daughter. But their path was blocked by Zosia's minions.
"None of you are leaving this place. Not alive anyway." Matrix had been the one to speak, her hands holding her blades tightly while her tail sparked and swished around behind her back. "Let us leave!" Kirk cried, but the human blockade didn't move an inch. "Not a chance." Nina muttered. "For god sake! Zosia is gone! Stop following out-of-date orders!" Blythe cried. However it seemed that even thought their mistress was gone, they would still follow her. Scotty noticed that all of their eyes were staring at Lexie who was still passed out in his arms. Kirk and McCoy had seen it too as they stood in front of Scotty. "We won't let you hurt her." Salix began to laugh. "Unfortunately, you don't get a say in this." Now everyone was stood in front of Scotty, weapons in hand. There was not another word muttered for several moments, only a staring contest was happening.
Suddenly Matrix lunged for them, but stopped and fell to the ground within seconds. "I suggest that none of you move." A voice called, a voice Kirk knew well. He turned round to see several of his own officers standing near the elevator, along with many police officers of Zinballa. "Spock! Sulu!" Kirk yelled happily. "Indeed, Captain. Sorry for our delay in finding you." The two officers came closer, while the police delt with Matrix and her friends. Sulu went straight over to Chekov, clearly worried. "Your arm, Pavel…" Chekov smiled as he patted the Helmsman on the shoulder. "Don't worry, Hikaru. I'm fine." Sulu was just about to respond when McCoy spoke up. "Our dam reunion can wait! Lexie needs help, now!" Scotty hadn't really took his eyes off Lexie, he had slowly been watching her face get more and more pale. "Of course, Doctor." Spock quickly explained that there was a car waiting outside, which could take them to the hospital.
Scotty didn't let go of Lexie, not for the whole trip. His own body was starting to hurt but he didn't care, he was only worried about his daughter. When they finally got to the hospital, McCoy basically had to force Scotty to let Lexie go. "She'll be well looked after, Scotty. I promise, I'll call you as soon as I know she's out of danger." McCoy watched as Scotty slowly nodded, before handing Lexie over to the Doctor. Scotty was almost in tears as he helplessly watched his daughter get carried away. "Please be alright, Lexie…" The Scotsman sank into a chair which was behind him, burying his head in his hands to hide his falling tears. Just then he felt a hand on his shoulder. "Don't worry, Scotty. Lex will be just fine, you'll see." It was Kirk who was beside him, the voice gave that away. Slowly he lifted his head up. "I wish I could believe ye, Jim." It was then when a thought occurred to Scotty. Where was Delta? He looked around, but he couldn't see his small robotic friend. "Jim, where's Delta?" "Off with Keenser and Pavel, they're fixing him up." Well that was one thing off Scotty's mind, but it didn't really help at the moment. He was completely focused on Lexie. "That's good then, at least the wee lad will be looked after." Kirk nodded as he wrapped his whole arm around Scotty's shoulders, "And Lexie is in good hands too, Scotty. Bones will look after her." Kirk was trying his best to comfort his Chief, but Scotty was just too worried about his daughter.
However it was slowly becoming clear to him that he might need medical treatment of his own, the countless injuries that he had sustained were getting more and more painful. Even Kirk had noticed that his friend was in considerable pain. "Scotty, what's wrong?" Kirk grabbed a tight hold of Scotty's arm, as he watched the Scotsman's eyes squinting. But instead of answering his Captain, Scotty stood up. Holding his head with one of his hands. But Scotty soon regretted standing up at all, as he felt extremely faint. So much so that he actually passed out, causing him to drop like a stone to the floor. Thankfully, Kirk was able to catch him before he hit the floor. "Scotty! Help! I need a Doctor in here!" Within seconds a Doctor ran into the room. "What happened here, Captain?" She asked calmly as Kirk gently placed Scotty on the floor. "He just… collapsed. Maybe the injuries he sustained earlier are worse than he originally thought." Kirk watched as the Doctor scanned Scotty over with a Tricorder, very carefully examining the results. "He's got several spots of internal bleeding. Quickly, pick him up and follow me." Kirk didn't need to be told twice, he gently scooped Scotty up in his arms and followed the Doctor.
While all of this was going on, McCoy was fighting to keep Lexie alive. Whatever Zosia had done to her to control her, had really done a number on her body. Her body was all bruised and cut up, while her internal body was bleeding and in pieces. So many of Lexie's nerves had been damaged, while some blood vessels were punctured. The kid had taken quite the beating. Several other Doctors had come to aid McCoy in his efforts to save Lexie. And thankfully, they paid off. Her blood vessels had been repaired, her nerves would heal in time while the cuts and bruises were slowly healing under the regenerator. "Thank you for your help." McCoy said softly as he shook one of the Doctor's hands. "Anytime, Doctor. I wish you and your friends all the best." Soon McCoy was left alone with Lexie, as he waited for her to wake up. He had a soft hold of her hand, using his thumb to gently rub the back of her hand. Comforting Lexie while she slept peacefully. "I should probably go tell Scotty that the kid will be alright, he's probably worrying himself to death." The Doctor thought. However he didn't want to leave Lexie alone, just in case something happened to her. So instead McCoy reached into his pocket to retrieve his communicator, flicking it open with one swift motion as he raised it up to his mouth. "Jim?" McCoy had to wait for a few moments before he actually got an answer. ("Hi, Bones…")
Instantly McCoy could tell that something was wrong, just because of how Jim had responded. "Jim, what's wrong?" From the other end, McCoy heard Jim swallow hard. ("Bones… It's Scotty…") That wasn't what McCoy expected to hear, he almost dropped his communicator out of shock. "Wh… What? Jim, what happened?" ("He's got several spots of internal bleeding… One of the Doctors took him away… for surgery I think.") McCoy felt his heart begin to speed up. Were his injuries that bad? Why hadn't he said anything? Well, the answer to that question was clear. He was too busy worrying about Lexie. "He's… in good hands, Jim. The Doctors will look after him, I was calling about Lexie." That got Jim's attention. ("Is she alright?") "She will be, Jim. After a lot of rest, but you can come and see her if ya like." McCoy knew that Kirk wouldn't waste a single second on coming to see Lexie. But he also knew that he would want to be with Scotty. However the young Captain couldn't do both. "But if you want to go and check on Scotty, Jim. That's fine, I'll stay with the kid." By the short silence, McCoy knew that Kirk was trying to figure out what to do. ("No. I'll come and see Lexie. I wanna see for my own eyes that she's alright. I'll be there in a moment.")
McCoy slowly lowered his communicator from his face, just as he felt something move in his spare hand. He looked down to see Lexie's hand still in his, but had she really just moved it? "Is she… waking up already?" Suddenly the young Lt. moved her hand again, this time McCoy saw it. "Lexie?" The Doctor's eyes wandered upwards, so he was looking at Lexie's face. Just then, her eyes began to open. Revealing her stunning, unique eyes. "Hey there, kid." McCoy could feel tears forming in his eyes, but he didn't let them fall. Not yet. "Hey… McCoy." Lexie slowly looked around the room, getting more and more confused as she did so.
"Where… am I?" Squeezing her hand tighter McCoy answered. "In the hospital. Do you remember what happened?" If McCoy was completely honest, he hoped that she didn't remember. Lexie was rattling her brain, trying to remember. Her head was all fuzzy, but suddenly a flood of memories came back to her. Images of Matrix, Salix, Nina. Of that robotic panther Mistral. That horrible woman Zosia and what horrible things she had done to her. But then came the worst memory of all. That was Lexie hurting her family. Tears began to flood down Lexie's face. "I… Remember. I remember everything." McCoy sighed, he had really hoped she didn't remember. "Don't worry, Lexie. Everything is alright now. You're safe, we're all safe." Lexie calmed down slightly. "Where's Scotty?" McCoy gulped. "Umm… He's in surgery." Lexie's face dropped like a stone. "W… What?!"
