Chapter 8
Gregory and Astre enter the Superstar Daycare to find Stardrop and possibly Heather. Surely, nothing can possibly go wrong inside a colorful and seemingly safe daycare, right? Unfortunately, Gregory experiences something he will never forget.
Gregory and Astre made their way to the double doors leading to the Superstar Daycare and passed through. They entered a dark hallway with very little lighting. Gregory could see large golden stars on the ground and many glowing white lights on the ceiling that seemed to replicate the night sky. Gregory heard a faint sound in the distance. When he walked closer to it, he realized it was the sound of running water. He stopped near a fancy looking fountain and saw a plush toy of a smiling sun and a plush toy of a human-looking doll like Astre but with pink hair that wore a purple dress. Gregory picked up both of the plushies and put them in his bag, which was starting to look a little heavy.
The fountain reminded him of the times when he and Heather would jump into wishing fountains to grab as many coins as they could and splash the fountain's water at each other. It was one of the only good memories Gregory had. Suddenly, he felt the need to relieve himself.
"Astre? Where's the bathroom?" Gregory asked.
"It's on your right," Astre answered as she looked at a crane machine.
Gregory nodded as he carefully walked into the men's room and noticed it was also dark. The only source of light in the room came from the eyes of the yellow wet-floor bots. Gregory put his backpack down near them and followed the light to a stall. He then took care of his business.
Once he was finished, he walked to a sink to wash his hands. He found a blue Freddy shirt tucked underneath the sink next to the one he was using. He washed his hands, dried them off, and took the shirt from the other sink. He straightened the wrinkles out, folded it, and put it in his backpack. He put his backpack back on as he noticed a message near the paper towel dispenser.
"CUSTOMER COMPLAINT- My son never had sleeping problems. But after spending an evening in the daycare, he refuses to sleep with the lights out anymore! He just cries about a "monster possessing his best friend". And when I do let him keep the lights on, he keeps looking out his window and apologizing to something."
This made Gregory feel a little concerned.
'What happened to this kid and his friend?'
He was curious as to what could have possibly scared this kid and his friend in the Daycare but a part of him believed he was better off not knowing. Gregory left the bathroom and saw Astre now looking at a poster that talked about a "Star Pen".
"Hey, Astre. What are you looking at?" Gregory said.
"Somebody got the Star Pen prize recently," Astre said.
"How do you know?" Gregory asked.
"The capsule shell is in the trash. And I know for a fact that none of the guests won it yesterday," Astre answered.
"Maybe Heather was here..." Gregory said.
"Possibly," Astre said. "Also... how much stuff do you have in that bag?"
Gregory got startled at her words. Did she know he was taking those shirts and plush toys and just did not say anything at first?
"U-um..." Gregory stuttered.
Astre sighed as she motioned for Gregory to give her the backpack. Gregory nervously handed it over to her. She then took everything out and laid it all on the ground.
"Let's see... We got a Monty shirt, a Chica shirt, a Roddy shirt, a Chica Plush, a Roddy Plush, a Sundrop Plush, a Stardrop Plush, and a Freddy shirt," Astre said as she looked at Gregory. "Where'd you find all this stuff, anyway?"
"I-It was just laying around... Like the backpack..." Gregory stuttered as he gripped the hems of his shorts.
Astre noticed the change in Gregory and softened her tone as she said, "Look... I'm not mad at you. I'm just curious why'd you want all this abandoned stuff."
Gregory stiffened at the word "abandoned". He hated that word. It was what defined him at this point.
"You don't get it..." he whispered.
"I would if you just told me!" Astre said as she raised her voice.
"No, you wouldn't! You'd be just like all the other adults! You'd just yell at me and say that I'm nothing!" Gregory yelled as tears started to prick at his eyes.
Astre eyes widened in shock at Gregory's retort. She reached out to him as she said, "Starling, I didn't-"
Gregory then ran past her to the shutter door that depicted a blue background with a sun touching a crescent moon, a milky pink colored human-like queen holding the sun and crescent moon in her arms in a motherly fashion, and two stars that were purple and green surround them. He ran through the door as Astre put all the items back into the backpack and noticed the blue star pin.
'Wait... Is this...' she wondered as she zipped up the backpack and put it on.
She got to the reception area as Gregory got a call from Freddy.
"Gregory, I am inside the daycare, but I am unable to reach you."
Astre stopped as to not make Gregory any angrier at her than he already was.
"Is there anything I can do to reach you, Freddy?" Gregory asked, clearly holding his tears back.
"Yes, there is Superstar. Tell the Daycare Attendant that I am waiting for you outside. He will let you check the security desk for a security badge to open the door," Freddy answered.
Gregory looked up and saw a sign that said "SLIDE INTO FUN" over a rainbow-colored slide. He nodded before he slid into the play area. Astre ran over to the slide and slapped the sign.
"Dammit..." Astre said as she sat on the couch. "Well, he should be safe down there for now."
"Astre?" a female voice asked.
Astre looked up and saw Stardrop with a worried look on her face. Beside her was a girl who appeared to be thirteen years old. She had shoulder-blade length black hair that looked as though it was recently cleaned and cut, Caucasian skin, and blue eyes. She wore a purple sweater that had Roxy's famous red and black clothing pattern on it, a red pleated skirt, a pair of black tights, a pair of purple slip-on shoes, a Roxy themed jacket with the hood having her ears, a red bow headband, a Roxy themed backpack on her back, and a necklace that had a flat pink rose-shaped pendant and hung on a black clip-on cord. She also had black, red, and purple alternating nail polish on her fingernails.
"Stardrop! I'm so glad I ran into you. Who's this girl? Is she a new CP?" Astre said as she embraced Stardrop.
"First of all, I am glad as well. Second of all, she is not a Child Protection animatronic, she is a human," Stardrop explained.
"I'm Heather. You must be Astre, right?" Heather said as she held her hand out.
Astre looked at her and thought of something. She let go of Stardrop, tapped her head, and did a scan on Heather. She gasped once a beep was heard.
"You're... her younger sister..." Astre said with a realization.
Heather sighed as she put her hand down and said, "Guess you guys really do have access to a kid's birth records."
"I'll admit it was a shock for me as well," Stardrop chimed in.
"Look, we can talk about all that later. I know you were with Gregory. Where did he go?" Heather said.
Astre grabbed the strap of Gregory's backpack as she said, "He slid into the playroom to get a security badge in order to let Freddy in."
"Freddy is here? I thought he was on reduced power and was ordered to stay in his room?" Stardrop asked.
Astre sighed as she said, "You two might want to sit down for this one."
Gregory landed in a colorful ball bit and quickly started trudging through. He saw something twirl its way onto the wooden platform above him.
When Gregory got a better look at the figure it was a tall, lanky animatronic that wore a pair of pointy brown slippers with yellow suns on the sides and topped with bells on the toes, a pair of red and yellow striped pants that looked like what a clown would wear, a red and yellow striped skirt-like piece that acted as a belt, a yellow button-up shirt with red puffy long sleeves and buttons, two red ribbons tied around its wrists with bells on them, a pair of blue LED eyes that seemed to shine like gemstones, and a face with the right side a lighter shade of yellow than the left side which was surrounded by seven triangles, giving it the appearance of a cartoonish sun.
"Hoo hoo hoo!" The figure shouted before putting its hands together and diving off the platform. "Yippee!"
The figure disappeared into the ball pit and Gregory moved through the pit faster, not wanting to be caught. He let out a small yelp when he was picked up by the sun-like animatronic.
"Hello, new friend! You're sure up late! Are we going to have a slumber party? Where are all your friends?"
Gregory suddenly felt his anger and sadness from earlier slowly dissipate. The animatronic up close was actually a lot friendlier even with his smile which showed rows of normal looking teeth and a dark yellow tongue. It did not seem like this animatronic was bad like Chica, Monty, Roxy, and possibly Roddy, Hulda, and Barbara were. And he was definitely a better alternative than Vanessa or Dave.
The animatronic carried Gregory out of the ball pit and placed him down on the playroom ground next to a stack of toy cylinders and a baby blue square table with a pink and white plaid tablecloth over it, two baby blue chairs with pink and white plaid sewed in cushions, and a Fazbear Entertainment branded Fizzy Faz Tea Set on it before speaking again, "Oh, dear! Oh, dear! Where are my manners? Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Sundrop! What's your name, little buddy?"
Gregory realized this was the same animatronic that the Sundrop plush he had found back at the fountain was based off of.
"W-well... My name's Gregory," The boy nervously responded.
Gregory had never met someone so... energetic before, so he did not know how to respond at first. Before he could continue talking, Sundrop cut him off.
"Oh, boy! Oh, boy! Oh, boy! Gregory is such a wonderful name! It is so nice to meet you, little buddy! Oh, we are going to have so much fun! We can finger paint, tell stories, make puppets with glitter glue and googly eyes, draw and color in pictures from our imaginations, play pretend, have Fizzy Faz tea parties until our heads explode, and stay up all night long!" The playful animatronic continued as he flapped his hands in excitement and the bells on his wrists jingled, making a happy sounding melody.
Gregory smiled at Sundrop. If it was not for the fact he was an adult-like robot, Gregory would have mistaken him for a fellow child.
"But!" Sundrop said as he stopped flapping his hands and held one finger up. "There is only one rule that must not be broken!"
This made Gregory curious.
"Ok... what is the rule?"
"Keep the lights on. ON. On..." Sundrop responded as he put his finger down.
'Why does he want to keep the lights on so badly? Is he scared of the dark or something?' Gregory wondered.
He pushed that thought aside as he looked through the black netting to try and see Astre. He knew he shouldn't have yelled at her like that, but due to everything that had happened to him in the past, it felt like a natural response at this point.
"What's wrong, little guy? What's got you so bothered?" Sundrop asked as he sat on the chair.
Well, as best as a tall animatronic could sit on a chair.
"I... yelled at my friend. I didn't mean to, but I just got so angry that I..." Gregory said.
Sundrop gestured over to the chair across from him as he poured out a yellow-colored fizzy liquid from the teapot into the teacup.
"Do you want to talk about it? A cup of Pineapple Fizzy Faz could help too..." Sundrop said with a comforting tone of voice.
"Oh god... He went through all that while I got a stupid makeover?" Heather asked as she tried to look at the playroom through the netting to see where Gregory was.
"Heather, darling. It was not a "stupid makeover". You needed that shower," Stardrop responded.
"I can't believe I yelled at him like that. I... I've never yelled at a kid before," Astre sighed as she put her head into her hand.
"It was not your fault, Astre. It wasn't like you could have known what he went through before meeting him," Stardrop said as she patted Astre's other hand.
"I know, but... I don't know how I'm going to apologize to him," Astre said as she took her head off her hand.
"Look, Gregory might seem like a brat, but he's honestly a good kid. I know. I've lived with the little guy for the past year to figure that much out," Heather said with a smile.
Astre got up from the couch and walked towards the gate.
"Come on," Astre said as she opened the gate. "If I'm right, Freddy should be at the playroom doors."
"I see... I'm sorry you've been trapped here, Starbeam," Sundrop said as Gregory finished telling his story. "But you should know... Astre is not a bad animatronic. She is very good with the children, sometimes better than Stardrop or me."
"Okay..." Gregory said as he finished his cup of Pineapple Fizzy Faz. "This is actually good, by the way."
"Aw, thanks! The kiddos love this stuff!" Sundrop cooed as he patted Gregory's head.
Normally, Gregory would've denied the gesture, but being around Sundrop actually made him feel more comfortable.
"Now then, let's get you to Mr. Fazbear!" Sundrop said as he got up from the chair and pushed it into the table.
"By the way... who's that Moondrop guy I saw on those posters? Is he a Daycare Attendant too?" Gregory asked.
Sundrop immediately got flustered as he stuttered, "W-well he's-"
While his arms flailed, he accidentally knocked over the tower of toy cylinders.
"Oh no, no, no, no! What a mess! Oh, which was the bottom? Which was the top? Which was the middle? Clean up! Clean up!" Sun said as he began restacking the cylinders.
"Are you okay?" Gregory asked with worry in his voice as he got up from his chair.
"I-I'm alright, Gregory! I'm just a... A little clumsy..." Sundrop replied as he finished restacking the cylinders.
"Are you sure? That didn't hurt you?" Gregory asked, still concerned.
"Don't worry! I may not look it, but I'm stronger than I look!" Sundrop replied as he held out his hand. "Now then, ready to get going?"
"Sure..." Gregory said as he took Sundrop's hand, which looked more mannequin-like than Astre's.
The boy and the animatronic walked to the security desk. The two passed by a box on the wall that looked like Freddy with a flashlight in its mouth. They stopped when they stood in front of a miniature version of Glamrock Freddy's head wearing a police cap.
"The badge you need to open the door is inside this little Freddy. You just need to boop its little snoot and it will open," Sundrop said.
Gregory nodded in agreement and pushed the nose. Just like Sun said, a security badge was tucked away inside the mini-Freddy's mouth.
"Hooray! We'll be able to see our friends soon!" Sundrop said out loud.
Gregory could feel excitement welling up inside him. He would finally be reunited with Freddy and apologize to Astre. But the good mood was ruined when both Gregory and Sundrop heard an eerie voice that sounded familiar from somewhere in the area.
"Do you really think it would be this easy? Don't you want to save your precious Moonlight, Mr. Sundrop?" the voice said in a teasing tone.
"Who are you? And how do you know about him?" Sundrop asked with fear in his voice.
"Wait... You're the one who closed the shutter door! Why are you doing this?" Gregory said as he remembered what happened at the lobby.
"Such a good memory, little boy! No wonder our leader likes you!" the voice said with joy. "Now then, who wants to play Hide-and-Seek?"
Suddenly the lights went out. The cheery music that played before changed into a music box's lullaby.
"Gregory, get down!" Sundrop whispered as he sat behind the desk and hung his head.
This made Gregory concerned as he realized his earlier thought might have been correct.
"Sundrop, are you scared of the dark?" Gregory asked.
"It's not just that... It's him... He's still sick..." Sundrop replied as artificial tears began to fall from his eyes.
"Who's sick?" Gregory asked as he sat beside Sundrop.
Suddenly, they heard a sinister sounding voice ring through the playroom.
"Sunny... Where are you? Don't you want to play with me?"
"Who is that?" Gregory asked as he crawled to the right side of the desk to find the source of the voice.
Gregory looked closely and realized it was an animatronic that had the same lanky body as Sundrop did. It wore a pair of pointy light blue slippers with yellow crescent moons on the sides and topped with bells on the toes, a pair of pants like Sundrop's that were dark blue with yellow glow-in-the-dark stars all over them, a blue and yellow striped skirt-like piece that acted as a belt, a dark blue shirt with light blue puffy long sleeves and buttons, two dark blue ribbons tied around its wrists with bells on them, and a dark blue nightcap with a bell on the end on its head. It also had a pair of red eyes that could pierce someone's soul and a face with the right side being white and highlighted like a crescent moon and the left side being black.
"Moondrop~! What do we do to naughty children?" The female voice asked.
"They must be punished!" Moondrop replied as he got closer to the desk.
Gregory had no idea what was going on, but whatever it was, he was actually scared. Sundrop brought Gregory closer to his body and said, "Don't worry, little buddy. I won't let Moony scare you too."
While Gregory appreciated the comfort, he was still concerned about the voice that seemed to be commanding Moondrop from wherever she was. Suddenly, Moondrop leaped onto the security desk and let out a cackle which showed Gregory that he also had rows of normal teeth, but his tongue was a light blue.
"Sunny! Light of my life! Why were you hiding with the naughty child?" Moondrop said as he tilted his head.
"Moon... I don't know what monster keeps forcing you to scare the kids, but I'm sorry. I'm sorry I wasn't there to protect you," Sundrop said as he stood up.
Moondrop simply let out another cackle as a cable with a hook attached to it appeared behind him.
"Oh, Sundrop. Don't you realize? Your moonlight is in a very deep sleep! And he will never wake up!" The female voice said as she laughed like a madwoman.
"Damn it! I can't budge it open!" Astre said as she tried to pull on the doors.
"We can't do anything?" Heather asked as she looked through the window which was soundproof.
"Gregory..." Freddy said with a tone of sadness.
"What's all the hubbub going on here?" A voice asked as it came down the stairs.
Freddy and the girls looked up to see an animatronic hippo. He had purple skin and blue eyes. He wore red shoulder pauldrons like Freddy's, but they were a bit smaller, a black vest, red shins, a small black top hat adorned with a red stripe, and a red flower brooch with a yellow center on the left side of his vest. He also had a yellow and red star painted around his right eye and on the upper half of his left leg and black nail polish on his fingers and feet.
"Mr. Hippo!" Stardrop said.
"Well... I see the man downstairs has gotten his hands on our poor Moondrop's mind again," Mr. Hippo said with a sigh.
"What do you mean?" Heather asked.
"Oh, didn't see you there, little girl," Mr. Hippo said as he walked over to her, and two blue beams of light came from his eyes. "So, you're the missing girl everyone keeps talking about."
"Mr. Hippo! We got a code "V" on our hands, remember?" Astre said as she patted her bag.
"Right! Code V," Mr. Hippo affirmed as he walked down to the end of the hall.
"Where are you two going?" Freddy asked as he, Heather, and Stardrop followed them.
"See, there's been a boogeyman, or rather, a few boogeymen and a couple of bogeywomen who've been messing with our systems. Luckily, our good old friend Vincent found a way to fight back against it," Mr. Hippo explained as he pointed at his head.
"You mean the chip?" Stardrop asked.
"Yeah. They're anti-virus chips. Vincent put one in you, Freddy, me, Mr. Hippo, and... Bonnie..." Astre responded. "We had the prototypes but once the virus tried again, it only made you and Freddy pass out."
"Except for Astre and me. Guess we're tougher than we thought, huh?" Mr. Hippo said as he stopped at an arcade cabinet.
"I already had two of the finished chips with me, but Caleb gave me a couple more. I already replaced mine, Stardrop, and Mr. Hippo. The boys already did Freddy," Astre said.
"So, the last one is for Moondrop?" Heather asked.
"Yeah. I was planning on doing it once all the guests were gone, but then our hijacker ended up trapping you and Gregory inside. So, we're going to have to improvise," Astre responded as she went into her bag and took out the chip.
The software chip itself was black with a golden ring design reminiscent of a halo imprinted on it.
"This is what Vincent created? Why did Management not know of this?" Freddy asked.
"That's the thing. Vincent never told another soul. Well, except for Dave. Lord knows if he's still sane by now," Mr. Hippo responded.
"I don't recall Management ever putting an arcade cabinet here..." Stardrop mused.
The cabinet itself was titled "Sun Prince" in gold lettering while the rest of it was a dark blue with purple stars dotting all over it. Heather looked at the console and saw a note.
"I'll admit, the game reminds me of those old fairytales my kindergarten teacher read to the class. It's kind of cute. I thought at first that the Sun Prince and Moon Princess kind of look like Sundrop and Moondrop but it was probably me just overthinking it. Also, I found this weird glitch. There are these enemies that have this purple static surrounding them. At first, I thought it was just some gimmick thrown in there for fun, but then I noticed when I did slay them, the Sun Prince would just start crying. I died at the third floor. I'll try again another day. - Dave."
"Who is Dave?" Heather asked.
"Dave Miller is a security guard here. He's a nice guy once you get to really know him," Mr. Hippo responded.
"If our theory's right, then this thing is connected to whatever is controlling Moondrop. So, Heather? Since you managed to get the Star Pen first try, how about you do the honors?" Astre said as she pulled out a quarter.
Freddy looked at the window and saw a terrible sight. Sundrop was frightened while Gregory was hiding.
"Gregory..." Freddy said.
Gregory was still hiding behind the desk when he got a call from Freddy. He now knew what that message from before meant. Moondrop was the "best friend" that got "possessed" by a "monster". He immediately called Freddy on his Faz-Watch.
"Freddy! The power went out and some lady's controlling Moondrop!"
"Gregory... I have an idea, but I need you to do something," Freddy said.
"What is it?" Gregory asked.
"You have to turn the power back on," Freddy responded.
That was easier said than done.
"How can I do that?" Gregory asked.
"You will need to find the emergency backup generators and turn them on. They are located in the play structures. Follow the glowing-colored cables to find the generators."
Gregory's knees felt like jelly. He looked up to see Sundrop still looking of Moondrop who was now in the air. Gregory knew if he wanted to help Sundrop and see his friends again he needed to find those generators quickly. He grabbed the flashlight from the Freddy box and immediately turned it on to see in the dark. Sundrop looked behind him and gasped.
"Gregory?! What are you doing?! You're supposed to hide!" Sundrop whispered, not wanting to draw Moondrop to them.
"Freddy said there's a way we can help Moondrop. I need to turn the generators back on," Gregory whispered.
"What? How would turning the power back on help him?" Sundrop asked.
"I don't know, but that's what Freddy said," Gregory whispered.
Sundrop fiddled with one of his rays for a moment until he said, "Okay. I'll trust Mr. Fazbear's judgement. I'll distract Moony while you get the generators."
Gregory nodded as Sundrop went to the ball pit. Sundrop took a deep breath and yelled, "Moony!"
Gregory steeled his nerves as he entered a nearby play structure. He imminently spotted a glowing blue cable on the ground and followed it to a generator.
Moondrop floated down behind Sundrop and tapped his shoulder.
"Eep!" Sundrop squealed.
"Yes, Sunny? Are you going to tell me where the naughty boy is?" Moondrop asked as he unhooked the cable from his back.
"I was w-wondering if... we could dance for a bit. Like we used to," Sundrop replied as he blushed and held out his right hand.
"Dance? But what about the naughty boy?" Moondrop asked as he looked around.
"W-we can look afterwards. Just... please?" Sundrop responded as he shifted his weight from one foot to the other.
Moondrop sighed as he took Sundrop's hand with his left and snapped his fingers with his right. The music immediately changed from the music box version of the daycare theme to a slow piano. Moondrop put his right hand on Sundrop's left shoulder as Sundrop put his left hand on the right side of Moondrop's waist. They began to waltz together as Gregory turned on the generator and then quietly walked up a ramp in front of him. He turned around and walked up another ramp which led him into a blue tube. The small child climbed his way up the tube and turned right to enter another tube. He moved forward and fell through a hole in the wall that led him to the second generator.
"Do you know this song, Moony?" Sundrop asked.
"Yes. It is Moonlight Sonata First Movement by Beethoven," Moondrop replied in a monotone voice.
Gregory turned the second generator on. Once its light was green Gregory signaled to Sundrop to move away. Sundrop nodded as he began to lead Moondrop away from Gregory's location.
"Since when did you take the lead in our waltzes?" Moondrop asked with a chuckle as he twired Sundrop, both of the animatronics' bells on their wrists jingling for a moment.
"W-Well... I always wanted to, but I was scared," Sundrop replied as he put his hands back on Moondrop.
Gregory jumped out of the play structure through another hole. He followed a yellow cable to the play structure he was in before through a different entrance near a blue slide. He made three different turns until he found the third generator. Suddenly the song ended, and another began, this time sounding a little sadder than the last.
"Is this... Clair de Lune?" Sundrop asked as he led Moondrop away from the blue slide.
"Yes. And what did you mean by "scared"?" Moondrop responded with a head tilt.
"Well... You were always around. You always helped the kiddos fall asleep during naptime, despite them being scared of you. And you are a great security person. I'm always scared because I know someday, someone is going to try to take you away from me permanently. And I'll never see the Moonlight I love ever again," Sundrop said as he began to sob.
Gregory heard all this as he turned on the third generator.
'I didn't even know robots could love each other like moms and dads do... Then again, Astre did tell me that you could love anyone...' he thought as he turned around and followed a green cable up a nearby ramp.
He walked up two more ramps and walked past hanging obstacles, making sure they did not make too much noise to climb up a third ramp that had the fourth generator on top and he turned it on.
"Sunny..." Moondrop said as he pulled Sundrop closer to him.
Heather nodded as she took the quarter from Astre and put it in the machine. The game turned on as a bit-tune melody came on and text rolled on the screen.
"Once upon a time, in the land known as Lymeira, there lived a man called "Sun Prince". Sun Prince was kind to everyone he knew and was courageous against his foes. One day, he met a beautiful woman called "Moon Princess" at a lake. It was love at first sight for them. But the evil sorcerer Perdo captured Moon Princess. Sun Prince steeled his nerves as he arrived at Perdo's dark castle to save her."
The screen then changed into the background of an old castle. Sun Prince, who Heather assumed she would be controlling, was a young man with long golden blonde hair, yellow skin, and blue eyes. He wore a red coat with gold buttons and yellow cuffs, black tights, and a pair of red knee-high boots with black straps on them. He held a gold sword with a handle in his right hand.
"Okay. The gold hearts up top must be his hit points. The joystick's for moving him up, down, left, and right," Heather said as she moved the stick.
Sun Prince moved as she commanded.
"Then these buttons must be like action skills," Heather said as she saw the red, blue, and yellow buttons.
She pressed the red button and Sun Prince slashed with his sword.
"Okay, that's attack."
She pressed the blue button and Sun Prince held the sword in front of him.
"That's the block."
She then pressed the yellow button and Sun Prince jumped.
"And that's the jump."
"Wow... You take these seriously, huh?" Mr. Hippo said.
"Well, when your only way of distracting yourself from hearing your sisters fight a lot is playing games, then yeah, I do take these seriously," Heather said as she moved the Sun Prince to the right.
After a few seconds, the first wave of enemies appeared. These were green goblins, but they were not a problem once Sun Prince defeated them with one attack.
"That was easy!" Sun Prince said as he collected a heart which gave him an extra hit point.
"Don't get cocky, SP..." Heather muttered as she moved Sun Prince to the stairs which allowed him to move up to the second floor of the castle.
"How's the situation looking, Freddy?" Astre asked.
Freddy's eyes changed from blue to yellow to see in the dark playroom.
"Sundrop and Moondrop are... dancing with one another," Freddy responded.
"Dancing? What kind?" Stardrop asked.
"I believe it is called a "waltz". I have seen some guests do that style during slow songs at Neonimal Night parties," Freddy responded.
"Sundrop, you sly fox," Astre muttered with a smile. "Those two haven't done that since this stupid virus started."
Heather walked Sun Prince through the hall that had a purple and yellow stained-glass portrait of the sorcerer Perdo. Suddenly, a walking suit of silver armor appeared. It had the same purple static surrounding it that Dave talked about in his note.
"What is that?" Sun Prince thought out loud before readying his blade.
Sun Prince blocked the armor's attack and jumped. He slashed the armor twice before it fell to the ground in a heap. Suddenly, tears began to stream down Sun Prince's face.
"Why... Why am I crying? I have... never cried before," Sun Prince said before wiping his tears and picking up the heart, which gave him another hit point.
'Is this what Dave meant?' Heather thought as she moved Sun Prince to the stairs which allowed him to move to the third floor of the castle.
Sun Prince walked through the hall that had a blue and white stained-glass portrait of a crying woman. Suddenly, a woman with long purple hair who wore a white nightgown appeared. She also had the same purple static surrounding her.
"Who are you?" Sun Prince asked.
"You don't know then... What he did to me..." The woman responded as she summoned a blade made from ice.
The woman rushed forward to hurt Sun Prince, but he jumped away. He attacked the woman once, but then she summoned a second blade of ice. She slashed at Sun Prince in what seemed to be blind rage. Luckily, Sun Prince blocked both of her blades and knocked them out of her hands. He attacked again and the woman stumbled back.
"You would destroy... the only person who ever cared for you?" the woman asked.
"Why would you care for me? I don't even know who you are!" Sun Prince replied.
"He took everything from us... If I destroy you, then I will take everything from him!" the woman cried out as she rushed at Sun Prince.
Sun Prince attacked one last time as he stabbed her through the heart. The woman collapsed to the ground with a sad smile. Sun Prince began to cry again.
"I'm sorry... I didn't..."
"It is alright. You were never meant to feel this pain. Go. Save your love. Do what I could not..." the woman said as she faded into light particles.
Sun Prince wiped his tears again and picked up the heart, which gave him his lost hit point back. He went to the stairs which allowed him to move to the fourth floor of the castle. This time though, there were no enemies. Only a door that needed a key to open it.
"Guess this is the precursor to the final boss." Heather said as she moved Sun Prince to a white table that had a gold treasure chest on it.
The Sun Prince looked up and saw a red and green stained-glass portrait of a little boy and little girl being held by an older boy and older girl. He opened the chest and found a blue heart-shaped object that matched the indent in the door. He took a few deep breaths and put the key on the door. The heart broke in half as the doors opened. Sun Prince walked through the door and saw Moon Princess sitting on a golden throne.
Moon Princess was a young woman with short black hair, golden yellow eyes, and pale blue skin. She wore a dark blue gown with cap sleeves and a knee-length skirt, a pair of white opera gloves, and a pair of white ballet flats.
"Moon Princess..." Sun Prince said with joy as he began to run to her.
Moon Princess looked up and saw her true love.
"Sun Prince..."
Suddenly, Perdo appeared. He was an older but still good-looking man with long brown hair and red eyes that were reminiscent of blood. He wore a black cloak with a purple star on it.
"So, you finally show yourself, you monster! Why would you do this?" Sun Prince exclaimed as he brandished his blade.
"She is the key to my immortality," Perdo said as he caressed Moon Princess's cheek as she turned away.
"Your immortality?" Moon Princess asked.
"Every 370 years, I must sacrifice a pure-hearted maiden and absorb her vitality," Perdo explained. "No one has ever gotten this far before. But that does not mean I will let you become the victor!"
Suddenly, Perdo groaned as his body changed into a black serpentine-like monster with a lot of purple static surrounding him. Sun Prince steeled his nerves as he rushed forward. Perdo slithered forward and snapped his fangs on Sun Prince's left leg, which made him lose a hit point. He slashed at Perdo's stomach and Perdo yelled in response. Perdo tried to bite him again, but Sun Prince managed to jump back, and he slashed at Perdo's neck. In response, Perdo wrapped his tail around Sun Prince, which made him lose a second hit point. Luckily, Sun Prince managed to stab his sword upward, causing Perdo to cry out in pain and let go of him.
"Why... Why do all this... for one person?" Perdo asked as he regained his composure.
"You know, for all your 370 years, you sure don't know how your fellow humans feel," Sun Prince responded as he slashed at his stomach once again.
Perdo cried out as he breathed a large amount of fire from his mouth, which made Sun Prince lose three hit points. He kneeled as he began to shake with fear.
"No... I cannot lose her..." the Sun Prince muttered as he began to cry a third time.
"Sun Prince!" a voice cried out.
Sun Prince looked beside him and saw Moon Princess by his side. Her eyes were filled with love as she helped Sun Prince hold his sword up. It charged with energy as they both stared at Perdo with defiance.
"What are you doing?!" Perdo yelled as he tried to slither away.
"No longer will you harm the light! You will be sent to the darkness where you belong!" Both Sun Prince and Moon Princess exclaimed as the light from the sword defeated Perdo.
As the sunrise came, Sun Prince and Moon Princess looked into each other's eyes. The screen then faded to black as the rainbow-colored word "CONGRATULATIONS" appeared.
Heather sighed as she stretched her back.
"Hope that worked," she muttered.
"AAAHHHHH!" Moondrop suddenly cried out as he pushed Sundrop away and held his head with both of his hands.
The music stopped completely as the female voice cried, "No, no, no! How am I losing control?!"
"M-Moony? What is it?" Sundrop asked.
'What's going on?' Gregory wondered as he ran to the end of the floor he was on and down two ramps which led him to a small bridge leading to the other play structure.
He saw the purple cable, but the flashlight was running out of power.
"Come on! Not now!" He whispered as he placed his free hand on the cable to follow it.
He reached a ramp by the time the flashlight's battery died. He climbed up a second ramp and saw the glowing red light of the fifth generator.
"Get... OUT!" Moondrop yelled as he gripped his face with his right hand, as though he planned to rip out whatever was controlling him.
"Moon? Can you hear me?" Sundrop asked as he reached out to him.
Gregory tried to push down the lever to the fifth generator, but it was barely budging.
"Come on, you stupid thing, work!" Gregory whispered, which Moondrop heard.
He turned around and jumped at the bridge like a wild animal but luckily slid off.
"MOON!" Sundrop yelled as he grabbed Moondrop by the shoulders.
Moondrop tried to squirm his way out of Sundrop's grip, but just like he told Gregory, he was stronger than he looked. Sundrop then pushed Moondrop's face against his and kissed him. Moondrop was stunned for a moment but relaxed and ended up kissing back. Gregory finally pushed the lever down and the lights came back on.
"Sundrop, I-" Gregory said before noticing the two Daycare Attendants smooching. "Gross... that's what kissing looks like? No thanks."
The female voice from before shrieked as a crash was heard.
"No, no, no! You cheated! You weren't supposed to help him!" she cried, like a little girl who lost a game but did not want to admit it.
"Katty! What are you crying about?" A male voice said.
"H-Harlequin! Those stupid robots helped the little boy cheat!" Katty cried.
"Katty... How would they have cheated if they were never in there with him?" Harlequin asked.
Another cry was heard before the slamming of a door resounded.
"Pardon my colleague's tantrum. Since her indictment, Katty has become a lot more... catty than your normal female would be," Harlequin said as he chuckled.
"Why are you doing this?" Gregory asked.
"Why, indeed... You just have to piece together the story yourself. Now then, the doors are unlocked. We shall see you at the next challenge, Gregory. You as well, Heather," Harlequin replied before the transmission was cut.
Sundrop and Moondrop stopped kissing as Gregory ran towards the slide and slid down. His legs were tired after all the walking and running through the structures. Suddenly, the doors to the playroom slammed open and Freddy, Astre, Stardrop, Mr. Hippo, and Heather walked in.
"Astre?" Moondrop asked as he held Sundrop's hand.
"Turn around, Moon. This bad boy will fix your problem once and for all," Astre said as she held up a chip that was familiar to Gregory.
Moondrop did as she said. He let go of Sundrop's hand and turned around. She pulled up the back of his shirt and found a slot. She put the chip in and pulled his shirt back down. Moondrop slumped over and closed his eyes as a message was heard.
"Virus Removal complete. Now activating Safe Mode."
When he stood back up, his eyes were open and no longer that sinister red but the same gentle blue that Sundrop's were.
"I-I'm free... Thank you!" Moondrop exclaimed as he embraced Astre.
"No problem, Moon. I was planning on using my extra on you anyway," Astre said as she hugged back.
Gregory got up from the slide to see everyone. Sundrop was the first to notice him and he ran up to him.
"Oh, Gregory! I am so sorry! I can't believe I let Moony scare you like that! I am such a horrible friend and lover!" Sun cried out as he embraced the small boy like a worried mother.
"Gregory! You are safe!" Freddy called out as he kneeled before the boy.
"Guys, I'm fine! Those freaks didn't get me!" Gregory said as he tried to get out of Sundrop's grip.
Moondrop let go of Astre to see the boy he was so adamant about chasing before.
"You are... Gregory, right?" Moondrop asked.
Gregory nodded as Freddy managed to pry Sundrop off him. He stared at Moondrop and saw what was once a scary monster that flew around the darkness was now the gentle guardian he had always been.
"You probably saw all the posters already, but I am Moondrop. Fellow Daycare Attendant and Security Guard of the Pizzaplex," Moondrop said as he held out his hand.
Gregory took his hand and shook it.
"It's nice to meet the real you, too" Gregory said as he let go.
Astre squirmed as she felt Gregory's gaze on her. She sighed as she took the backpack off and handed it to him.
"Look, I'm sorry for yelling at you earlier. Heather told me about your situation," Astre said. "I shouldn't have assumed anything. And look, I would never treat either a kid like their nothing. That's just fucking stupid!"
"Astre! Language!" Sundrop yelled as he covered Gregory's ears.
"You know what I mean, Sundrop!" Astre replied as Sundrop uncovered Gregory's ears.
Gregory put the backpack back on, ran up to Astre, and hugged her legs.
"I'm sorry too. It's just... I knew some bad people before and I thought you were just like them," Gregory said.
Astre smiled as she patted his head. Gregory let go as he saw the two new animatronics. Stardrop smiled as she said, "You probably already know, but I am Stardrop."
"And I am Glamrock Mr. Hippo. But you can just call me Mr. Hippo," Mr. Hippo said as he waved hello.
Gregory waved back as he locked eyes with Heather. He was surprised at how different she looked.
"Wow..."
"What?" Heather asked as she thought, 'What's he going to say? That I shouldn't have abandoned him? Well, it's not my fault I got caught up in a feminine trap by Stardrop!'
"You actually look like a big girl for once!" Gregory shouted which earned a laugh from Astre and Moondrop.
Heather growled as she grabbed Gregory and ruffled his head.
"And you are a little boy who needs a freaking bath!"
Oh GOD, this chapter was LOOONNGG! I have NEVER, in my LIFE, dedicated myself to ONE THING SO FREAKING HARD!
1. I described what the rest of the Daycare looked like in THIS chapter because I already did some of it back in Chapter 4 and didn't want to repeat myself.
2. To keep up with consistency, I had Astre check the Capsule Drop machine to see that the Star Pen was gone, giving her a hint to Heather being here. I also tried to make both the Gregory finding the generator scene and Heather playing the "Sun Prince" game scene were happening simultaneously.
3. I made Sundrop and Moondrop separate animatronics. Why? Because not only do I NOT see them as brothers like the Sun and Moon Show does, even though I DO LOVE that show, but because I think the ship is actually cute.
4. I saw all the redesigns of Sundrop and Moondrop on Tumblr and TikTok and I was like, "... I'm going to take a crack at it!". These two were the results.
5. I feel like, as a Security Guard, Astre would have noticed Gregory picking up all the abandoned merch and would have called him out on it once they were in a seemingly safe place.
6. I rewrote the note in the bathroom for the context in Rewired. In this remake, while the kids are still KIND OF scared of Moondrop, they do still love him as much as they love Sundrop, Stardrop, and Astre.
7. Why is it that both Freddy and Astre recognized the star pin? You'll just have to wait and see.
8. I had a BLAST writing the first appearance of Sundrop! I also made it that he actually TALKED with Gregory about his situation off-screen because I HATED how he was written in the original. Like, who the HELL would just YEET a child out of the Daycare while knowing those same animatronics had the same virus you did just because you think he broke the one rule that he had no prior knowledge of?
9. I gave Heather a LITERAL makeover because I thought about it and realized Heather's original design wouldn't be as impactful as this one is. I'm planning on doing the same thing to Gregory next chapter.
10. I finally get to show what MY version of Glamrock Mr. Hippo looks like. And yes, he and Astre are friends.
11. You know, if not for the circumstances, the waltz scene with Sundrop and Moondrop would have been like a fluffy one-shot or something.
12. The two songs, Moonlight Sonata First Movement and Clair de Lune, were the SAME songs I was listening to while writing this chapter. Music stimulation for the WIN, baby!
13. I have given you guys a BIT more evidence of Heather's past. Theorize away!
14. Yes, Astre DOES swear. Just, not in front of children who aren't comfortable with that kind of language.
15. I FINALLY reunited Gregory and Heather. Sorry if it felt dragged out.
16. First note from Dave Miller himself.
17. I know it seemed like I piled on the "Software Chip" lore, but when has FNAF lore NOT been piled upon us?
18. The "Sun Prince" arcade machine is one I thought of myself. It was actually one of the reasons this chapter took so long.
And I just wanted to say to those of you who actually wait for this thing to get updated, THANK YOU. I at first made this fanfic just so I could get on the "Rewrite Train", as I like to call it, but you ACTUALLY like it. So, for that, you guys can ask me as many questions as you want. JUST, no SPOILER asks. Also, for you artists out there, I'm allowing you to make fanart out of Rewired. Just be sure to credit me and not to cross any lines, yeah? Anyway, see you guys' next chapter!
