Chapter 12

The animatronics and the children had decided to go back to the Superstar Daycare so Rhett could see the other non-infected animatronics again. Suddenly, they heard Vanessa's voice.

"Still nothing? Alright... Where the hell's Dave when you actually need the guy?" she said with annoyance.

Freddy immediately opened his stomach hatch and Gregory climbed inside. Heather pulled up her hood and made sure it covered enough of her face.

"What about them?" Freddy asked as he closed his stomach hatch and motioned to Heather, Abigail, and Corrine.

"I'll just tell her they're new CPs," Stardrop replied.

Vanessa then appeared at the top of the escalator.

"What's going on up here?" she asked.

"Hello there, Officer Vanessa. I do not believe we've met in person yet," Rhett said politely.

"You're... Rhett, right?" Vanessa asked.

"Yes. Do you know my role?" Rhett replied.

"You're currently the only attendant for Cherrie Casino. I thought you weren't allowed to leave until the connector was fixed," Vanessa said.

Rhett scoffed and said, "Don't worry. I fixed it myself."

"You did? I didn't know you had repair protocols installed," Vanessa said with surprise.

"Well, when you're made for a company who rarely has a competant mechanic, let's just say my handler made sure that I could take care of things myself, if needed," Rhett explained as he tugged at one of his gloves.

"Well, at least that's one less problem to worry about now," Vanessa said with a smile. "Now then, Stardrop."

Stardrop immediately stood straight.

"Easy, Stardrop. I'm not gonna yell at you. Just wanna ask if you found the lost kids yet," Vanessa said.

Stardrop relaxed and said, "Afraid not."

"Alright. Now Rhett... I know you just finished getting your connector fixed, but you think you could help look?" Vanessa asked.

"Of course. I wouldn't forgive myself if I those children disappear into the shadows," Rhett replied with a theatrical tone. "What do they look like?"

"One of them is a small boy with brown hair and wearing a blue shirt with tan shorts while the other is a girl with black hair and wearing a purple sweater, black jeans, and a red ribbon in her hair," Vanessa explained.

"I'm on it. I'll go check the currently popular hotspots," Rhett said as he waved goodbye and walked down the escalator.

Vanessa sighed and noticed Heather, Abigail, and Corrine.

"And who are you three?" she asked.

While Abigail and Corrine merely stared at her, Heather was not making eye contact, fearing if she did, Vanessa would recognize her.

"They are some new Child Protection animatronics!" Stardrop suddenly said.

"Really? I didn't know Management had comissioned more CPs," Vanessa said. "Then again, they did comission that Knox guy without telling some of the staff so I guess it's not that surprising."

"Who is "Knox"? And why does he already have an attraction?" Freddy asked, honestly curious.

"Basically, he's supposed to be sort of a replacement for Reina. I don't see why he has to be a "replacement". They were going to introduce him yesterday, but then you had your accident so they're gonna put it off until this Sunday. It's probably why he's not registered in the system yet," Vanessa explained.

"Can't we talk to him now?" Stardrop asked.

"Well... I suppose it wouldn't hurt anybody. But just be careful. The guy's hearing is supposed to be high-maintenance so don't startle him if you do decide to talk to him," Vanessa replied with a sigh. "Anyway, I'm going back on patrol. Notify me if any of you see those kids."

"You got it, ma'am," Corrine said with a tone of annoyance.

"Watch it," Vanessa said as she walked back to the escalators and left the group.

"Corrine! You didn't have to be mean to her," Abigail said.

"I wasn't," Corrine said with an eye roll.

"What do we do now?" Gregory asked through the Faz-Watch.

"Honestly don't know. I don't think I can leave now!" Heather said with frustration.

"I-I'm sorry... It was the only answer I could think of!" Stardrop said with regret.

"It's fine. I'm not mad at you," Heather said as she thought, 'Gonna make her more confused though.'

"Well... We should take Abigail back to the Superstar Daycare. And we should call Rhett over as well."

Once they made sure to avoid any of the other animatronics, they made their way back to the Superstar Daycare to fill in Sundrop, Moondrop, Astre, and Mr. Hippo on what they learned.

At the reception area, Astre was laying on her back on the couch and tapped on her Faz-Watch absent-minded. When she heard the shutter door open, she stopped tapping her Faz-Watch and got into a sitting position.

"Welcome back!" she said.

"Where's Mr. Hippo?" Heather asked.

"He's still stuck with patrolling the Pizzaplex," Astre replied.

She noticed Corrine and immediately stood up.

"You found another one?" Astre asked as she got a good look at Corrine.

"Yeah. At Cherrie Casino," Gregory replied as Freddy opened his stomach hatch and helped him climb out.

"Cherrie Casino? None of us have been able to go there since the connector got busted," Astre remarked.

The last time anyone that was a part of the staff went there was the mechanic who had accidentally broken said connector.

"Well, I fixed it since no one else wanted to. And you have these two to thank," Rhett said as he appeared behind the group and walked into Astre's line of sight.

"Rhett? I haven't seen you in forever!" Astre said with joy as she suddenly embraced him.

Rhett, like before, was startled but relaxed as he returned it.

"Sorry about the silence. Management had basically house-arrested me at the casino," Rhett said as she let go of him.

"Oh right! We finally saw what Harlequin and Katty look like! And there's a third one!" Gregory said.

"Really? Do tell," Astre said as they all went to the path that had the party rooms.

After explaining what happened at the casino and basketball court, Astre went quiet for a moment.

"Astre? What is it?" Stardrop asked.

"It doesn't make any sense. Why go through all this trouble? Putting on these costumes, hack into the Pizzaplex's security system, making those keypads, locking up animatronics, all of it?" Astre replied as they stopped at the playroom's doors.

"Maybe they got something against Fazbear Entertainment? It's not like this company doesn't have some enemies left," Heather chimed in as she took her hood off.

"Maybe..." Astre said as she knocked on the door.

Sundrop opened the door and picked up Abigail.

"Oh, I was so worried! I thought you got lost!" Sundrop cried as he scanned her.

"Overreacting as always, eh?" Rhett asked.

Sundrop put Abigail down and had an expression of shock on his face. The shock turned to excitement as he shouted to the ceiling, "Moony! Rhett's here!"

Without a word, Moondrop came into view. Just like when he was controlled, he was on his cable. He stopped when he came to about four feet off the ground.

"How'd you get here?" Sundrop asked.

"Thanks to these two, I finally managed to get into the Storage Room and fixed the connector," Rhett replied as he gestured to Gregory and Heather.

"Aw! Thank you, Starbeams!" Sundrop said, sounding like a proud parent.

"So, what's the plan now? I thought you were going to get the kids out of here?" Moondrop asked as Freddy scratched his "cheek".

"Well, Stardrop gave me, and Heather-" Gregory started to say before being cut off by Moondrop.

"Party Passes. I know that part. It's not like Heather can leave now."

"How did you know?" Stardrop asked with fear.

"Believe it or not, I can still connect to some of the security cameras and saw you putting your acting skills to work," Moondrop replied with an eyeroll.

"Hey, Moonman! She was just trying to help!" Corrine defended.

The room went silent. Suddenly, Gregory yawned,

"Sorry..." Gregory said.

Heather looked at her Faz-Watch and saw it was now 4:30 am.

"Can't believe it's already been two hours," she remarked as she also began to finally feel the tiredness catch up to her.

"Oh, you two must be exhausted!" Sundrop said with worry.

Moondrop sighed as he said, "Come along. You two can sleep in our room for a while."

"Wait, really?" Astre asked with surprise.

"Yes. After that, Mr. Fazbear and I will personally escort the boy to an exit. As for Heather here... I'm sure we'll be able to figure something out by then," Moondrop answered as he motioned for Sundrop, Gregory and Heather to follow him into the playroom.

"R-right..." Stardrop said as she walked back to her room and waved goodbye.

"What about us?" Abigail asked.

"Well, even though you two aren't "official", I think I can talk to Mrs. Sheridan into getting you two into the system," Astre replied.

"You'd really do that?" Corrine asked.

"Yeah. I mean, we have been needing more help lately. Plus, you guys will at least have a roof over your heads. By the way, do you two have a "Food Processer" upgrade or not?" Astre replied.

"No," Abigail said.

'Talk about honest. That I can appreciate,' Astre thought as she said to Freddy, "You should rest up too. I'm sure Sundrop and Moondrop will let you know when the kids are ready. And here."

Astre went into her bag and pulled out the CD she and Gregory found and handed it to Freddy.

"You found a CD?" Freddy asked.

"Yeah. Gregory and I found it in a storage area when we had to leave you to charge," Astre replied.

Freddy nodded as he began to walk away. He decided to ask a question that was plaguing his mind.

"Once Gregory is safe, what can we really do for Heather?"

Astre waited until the two girls went into her room and said, "We simply return her to her family."

"So, you both live up there? Don't you guys have rooms of your own like the Glamrocks do?" Gregory asked when they went to the back of the playroom.

"W-well... Since we're not "popular" like them, Management thought we didn't need rooms of our own. Besides, it used to belong to the first Daycare Attendant, so they didn't exactly see the need to change anything," Sundrop replied as he felt the wall and found a specific part.

He pressed on it and a section of the wall opened up to reveal a winding staircase.

"Whoa..." Heather said as Moondrop dropped down to the ground and unhooked his cable.

"Come along, little stars," he said as he held out a hand for Gregory.

Gregory hesitated for a moment then took Moondrop's hand. Moondrop smiled as Sundrop went up the stairs first. Moondrop and Gregory followed Sundrop as Heather looked behind her. She sighed and followed the boys as the door closed behind them.

Once they got to the top, they entered a room that had various things scattered around the floor. Gregory and Heather saw foam blocks, old shirts, drawings, discarded plushies, a couple of comforters, a few blankets, pillows which Gregory and Heather recognized from Rhett's room, a mattress that was big enough to fit four people, and prop items.

"So... How are we doing this?" Heather asked as she and Gregory took off their backpacks, shoes, and jackets and placed them against the wall.

Sundrop straightened out the mattress and pushed it against the wall while Moondrop was going through what appeared to be a pile of drawings made with crayons.

"Easy! Just get yourself a big comforter and put it over the mattress!" Sundrop replied with the same enthusiasm.

Gregory looked at Moondrop and saw a sad expression on his face. Gregory walked over and saw a couple of the drawings. The first drawing was Moondrop crying. His tears were falling into a purple sea where there a few rabbits swimming in it. The second drawing was a humanoid woman with the same crying purple eyes and her hands were in a praying position.

"Who drew these?" Gregory asked.

"I did... It was one of the things I constantly did to try to get rid of the... "bad energy"," Moondrop replied with a sigh.

Gregory hugged Moondrop from behind. According to what he heard from Freddy and the others, Moondrop would never hurt anyone. At least, not on purpose.

"Thank you, little star," Moondrop said as he smiled.

"The bed's all done!" Sundrop said as he gave a thumbs up.

Gregory and Moondrop looked over to where Sundrop and Heather were. The once plain mattress now had a huge red, yellow, and blue striped comforter, two smaller blankets that were dark blue and bright red, and a few red, yellow, and blue striped pillows.

"Thanks again, Sundrop," Gregory said as Heather got under the blankets.

"You're welcome," Sundrop said with a smile.

"What are you guys going to do?" Heather asked with a yawn.

"I'm patrolling for a bit and making sure our "guests" aren't going to get in our way later. Sunny, watch over them for me while I'm gone," Moondrop replied as he kissed Sundrop on the cheek.

Sundrop gave him a lovestruck smile as Moondrop called down his cable and walked to the edge of the tower. He waved goodbye as he hooked his cable onto his back and left.

"Alright! Now then if there's anything you need just-" Sundrop said with a shake of his head.

He looked over to the makeshift bed and saw that Gregory also got under the blankets and was now sleeping peacefully alongside Heather. He smiled as he sat down with his back against the wall and whispered, "Sweet dreams, Starbeams."

This chapter was basically pure fluff!

1. I know it's been a while since anyone saw Vanessa, so I decided she would come to the fourth floor once the connector was fixed.

2. Why did Management not let Vanessa actually meet Rhett?

3. Stardrop does have acting protocols that were originally reserved for the theater. Due to instead being put into a Daycare Attendant role, the company decided to not take them out.

4. Explained a bit more about Knox.

5. Astre and Rhett are friends, but after he was house arrested, she wasn't able to interact with him for a while.

6. Due to Moondrop having a BIT of a higher security clearance, he can still connect to cameras that haven't been hijacked by the Glitchers.

7. For those wondering, Mrs. Sheridan is the handler for Astre that SHE picked.

8. I saw a Sundrop and Moondrop fanfic a while back about there being a secret entrance for staff, so I decided to include that into the Rewired version of the Daycare.

9. In the context of Rewired, the room Sundrop and Moondrop live in DID used to belong to Eclipse. After he disappeared, they didn't think it was worth it to change anything.

10. I kept seeing these TikToks about Moondrop drawing about what it was like being under the influence of Glitchtrap, so I decided to put it in here.

11. Sundrop and Moondrop acting like parents for Gregory and Heather. Beautiful.
