A/N: This is my favorite Scene of this story. Let's see if it comes out written as well as it looks in my head.
. . . . .
A/N: Sorry for the late upload. I hope you have a Happy New Year. I'm not your mother, but try to celebrate responsibly. Thanks for reading!
Seto Kaiba casually stepped out of one of the elevators in the mansion. As he fixed a shirt cuff, a white trench coat with the letters DA on the collar in black appeared in his body in wisps of purple. He adjusted the coat.
Mokuba stepped out of the elevator next to the one Seto came out of. He had torn a long strip of his t-shirt, and in the time it took the elevator to reach its destination, had wrapped the strip around his torso and tied it.
"Hey big bro." Mokuba ran to keep up with his brother's long strides. "Did the elevator go up or down for you? I coulda sworn I pushed up, but it went down instead."
"The same for me." Seto adjusted his new coat, going so far as to purposely flare the hem out so it fluttered like a cape for the moment. "Don't mind it. Someone is being a brat."
"Uh, isn't the parking garage above the basement?" Mokuba looked at the slew of cars amassed around him. Most were Noah's, some were Gozaburo's, and even fewer were Seto's, because he liked walking places whenever he could.
"It is. As I said, someone is being a brat. Which car do you want, Mokie?"
Mokuba pushed his confusion to the side, and asked for a red sports car, one of Noah's favorites. "I uh, hope you don't mind." He winced as he fiddled with the remaining hem of his shirt.
"I don't."
A swirling cloud of shadows and golden sparks appeared before them. The car Mokuba asked for dropped in front of them. Mokuba looked at Seto, and the glowing eye on his forehead. Seto held out a hand, and the keys dropped into it.
"Dibs!" Mokuba called, even though there was no reason to. He got into the front passenger seat, while Seto took the driver's seat. The voice in Mokuba's head chuckled in weary amusement.
The engine revved as Seto tested the vehicle, starting it up. A loud explosion rang out from the floors above. It shook the very foundation of the building. Mokuba looked at Seto in concern. "What was that?"
"Nothing to worry about." Seto floored the gas.
Mokuba slammed back against his seat. The voice in his head told him he couldn't get anymore protected than he would be now, so he should relax and enjoy the ride. Mokuba wasn't sure how he'd be able to. The walls around them started to warp and twist unnaturally, like a mix of M. C. Escher and Salvador Dali paintings. Seto drove as though he hadn't noticed.
Blood red dripped down the walls. Mokuba shivered as an oppressive darkness pressed him further into his seat. He wrapped his arms around himself. The red morphed into words that Mokuba could read, no matter how fast Seto drove, or how it seemed that the view of the warped walls and floor should have blocked them.
DIE PRIEST
Mokuba turned to look at Seto.
"No thanks." Seto tapped his fingers against the steering wheel.
The car swerved suddenly as the ground and walls warped as if to block their vehicle. Seto was forced to turn the wheel like a sober driver trying to avoid crashing into a drunk driver. Mokuba expected to slam into the door or Seto as the car jerked this way and that, but he remained firmly in place. A golden aura surrounded him. Mokuba looked at Seto. The same aura surrounded him. He was better protected however. He remembered to put on his seatbelt.
YOU WILL NOT LEAVE HERE
The blood red dripped from the walls in taunting message after taunting message. The voice in Mokuba's head tried to speak, but Mokuba couldn't concentrate on it. He gripped the seat of the car, gripped by thrill, amazement and terror.
Seto's response to one of the messages was to turn on the radio.
'I'm Mizuki Umino and you're listening to Domino City News. I'll be here all day bringing you live updates and breaking news concerning Domino's latest, unexpected harrowing tragedies-'
Seto changed the station with a speed Mokuba didn't think was possible. A poppy song Mokuba knew Seto didn't like played. Mokuba liked it however, and started tapping his fingers against the seat. He smiled a strained smile when his brother looked at him to make sure he was okay.
A flat wall to their left suddenly shifted in front of them, blocking their path. Mokuba's heart raced in his chest. His fingers stilled. Seto could turn left, or he could turn right, but either way would result in them crashing into the wall. Mokuba barely heard Seto tell him to put his seatbelt on. He couldn't hear him over his own screams.
A portal of black appeared on the wall. The red sports car flew through it at nearly 70mph or 112 kph. Mokuba's grip on his seat loosened. The voice in his head told him he was in the shadow realm. It was cold and uninviting, yet… Mokuba pressed his hands against the window. Clouds of purple and black swirled around the vehicle. Occasionally obscured by the clouds, tiny stars of white and gold blinked in and out of existence. The voice told him those were souls. Mokuba remained determined to think of them as stars.
"This is awesome…" Mokuba whispered. The voice told him the Duel Monsters that terrorized Domino City for the past week once lived here in peace before Zorc came.
The car's tires screeched loudly as Seto forced the car to turn in a manner it shouldn't be able to at such speeds. It turned in a long, wide circular arc, as though Seto was taking his time to let Mokuba enjoy the view. The car turned back on the path it had entered, and exited the very same portal it entered.
Seto gripped the wheel and turned it with all his strength. "Come on…" He murmured.
Somehow, the vehicle made the turn to the right. It scraped against Mokuba's side, leaving smears of red paint against the once pristine white walls. It got lost in the mess of blood red. Taunts of an entity of evil that really hated Seto Kaiba at this very moment.
Mokuba jerked back, far too close to the blood red taunts for comfort. Shadows of Duel Monsters grabbed at the vehicle, reaching out from the stained, blackened walls. The voice told him to stop looking at them. Mokuba looked straight ahead.
He didn't know how they got from the parking garage to the main foyer to the study, and he wasn't about to ask. As long as they didn't crash into the wall Seto was driving towards, he was fine.
"Uh…Seto…" Mokuba shifted his eyes, "That's a window."
"Seatbelt Mokie." The hall of the study seemed to go on forever and ever. Rows and rows of bookcases repeated as they sped past them.
Mokuba quickly grabbed his seatbelt and connected it. "Seto…!"
Seto didn't reply. Mokuba looked at him. The eye on Seto's forehead shined brightly. His brother's lips frowned in concentration. His eyes glowed like the lightning of a Blue Eyes White Dragon. Poppy music blared from the car's advanced stereo system. Blood red dripped down the walls surrounding them. Shadows reached out from the red, clawing at the vehicle, trying to grab it. Mokuba leaned back into his seat. He stared at the window Seto was driving towards. He'd be alright.
The car crashed through the window. It flew from the third story headed in a downward arc. Shards of glass smashed against the car and the windshield. A light blue ramp appeared below them. A Blue Eyes White Dragon roared above them. Mokuba wanted to take a glance out the window, but the voice told him to look ahead. Mokuba looked at the underside of the dragon's neck and head. The car hit the ramp, with a much lighter bang than it should have. It felt like his head hitting the pillow at night when he's super tired, right before Seto or Noah came to tuck him in at night. Nothing like the crash of the vehicle bottoming out that he was expecting. One of the dragon's wings obscured the view of his side window. The other wing obscured Seto's window.
The car drove off the blue ramp and onto the large driveway just outside the Kaiba Mansion. It sped off, leaving a trail of tire tracks behind. Seto tapped his fingers against the steering wheel to yet another song he didn't like.
Mokuba grinned and relaxed in his seat even further. 'I have the best big brother in the entire world.'
