The rain came down hard. Mike looked out the window at the falling droplets, a sigh escaping him. Due to the downpour, he was stuck inside until it came to a stop. This halted his plans for the day.
He had been hoping to spend time together with his girlfriend, but the rain meant he couldn't. He couldn't go on a date with it pouring down. His beloved deserved nothing but the best, and he couldn't give that like this.
He would have to make up for the lost time another day. The demon wasn't going to mind, but that didn't stop the guilt, even though he wasn't at fault.
A knock on the door made him jump. He climbed to his feet, going over, and opened it. He was greeted by his partner being soaked from her head to toes. Her crimson hair lay damp, pressed against her skull like a cat's wet fur. Her eyes shined bright, and pointy white fangs flashed with her smile.
"Hey Mike."
Mike's jaw dropped, his blue eyes grew wide at the person standing in front of him. "Mia?!"
She brushed some of her red hair out of her face, the grin never leaving. "That's my name, sweetheart."
"But I thought—"
"—I wouldn't come? You should know me by now. Now, can I come in, or are you going to make me stand out in the rain?"
Mike moved out of the way, allowing his girlfriend to enter his house. Mia came in, skipping off her wet jacket and muddy boots.
"Did you walk all the way over here from your house?"
"I did."
"You could get sick!"
"Please, you know I can't fall ill as easy as you." Carmyne placed her hand on his boyfriend's face, zapping the warmth from it, and making him shutter at the sudden cold. "We agreed to hang out today, and I intend to uphold that promise."
"Not that I don't appreciate you doing that, but I don't want something to happen to you just because you wanted to keep a promise to me."
"I would do anything for you, Mike, you just need to say the word."
"I know…" The blue haired youth leaned into his touch, a smile tugged on his lips. "What did I do to get someone as great as you as my girlfriend?"
"I could say the same thing about you." Mia leaned down, his lips came into contact with her boyfriend. When she pulled up, the demon smirked at the sight. "Red as always."
Mike's face warmed, and he quickly scrambled to the kitchen to escape his girlfriend's laughter. He came back a bit later with two cups of hot chocolate.
"Thought you'd like something to warm up with."
"Who needs it when I have you?"
He squeaked, his body grew warm for the second time. Mia laughed as she took the cup.
"Thank you for the hot chocolate."
"Y-You're welcome…" Mike said, sitting down beside her.
"So, what do you want to do to pass the time?"
"We could watch a movie?"
"A date, you mean?"
Mike looked away, his face hot. His girlfriend chuckled at him, placing her arm around him.
"No need to feel embarrassed, Mike. Let's have our date."
The two spent the rainy day watching movies together. At some point, Mike had fallen asleep. His head rested against Mia's chest, a blanket wrapped around him for warmth.
Mia laughed softly, shifting to hold him in her arms. She carried him to his room, laying him down carefully to not wake him. The demoness pulled the cover over him, tucking him in nice and warm. A kiss pressed against his forehead.
"Sweet dreams, Mike."
With that done, she left to allow her boyfriend to rest.
