Jamie has way too much fun making the candy basket for Mason for Valentine's Day. He might've gone a little overboard. After going to a multitude of stores over the few weeks leading up to the day, he has a large collection of heart-shaped and/or pink, red, and white candies.
Conversation hearts in both English and Spanish, heart lollipops, cinnamon hearts, Starburst jelly beans in the shapes of hearts, heart gummies, hard candies that are kind of sprinkle-like and are pure sugar, chocolate-covered marshmallows, Hershey's chocolate hearts, Lindor's Valentine collection, fuzzy peaches in the shape of hearts, and more.
He looks up tutorials and behind-the-scenes videos of people assembling candy bouquets and candy baskets to figure out how to arrange it all. It's a bit of a mess, and he restarts it more than a few times, which is made even more difficult when he has to hide it from Mason, who he lives in a cute, cozy, tiny apartment with.
He thought, a couple of times, that Mason had seen his candy stash and must know about what Jamie is planning, but he hasn't said anything about it yet.
Lucky for Jamie, Mason is busy on February 13th and is out all day, leaving Jamie alone to finish the massive candy basket, and he hides it again to be revealed the next day.
In the morning, Jamie wakes before Mason, as per usual, but doesn't stay in bed to cuddle. He has other plans for today. Knowing that his boyfriend typically wakes up around 8, he gets started on breakfast, cooking eggs, sausages, hashbrowns, and cutting up fruit. He originally planned to do chocolate strawberry pancakes, but he figured that plus the gift basket would be sugar overload- and that's coming from Jamie, who has an insatiable sweet tooth. Mason will need a healthy, hearty breakfast to prepare for the candy.
Dishing up the food, he carries Mason's plate and a cup of orange juice to their bedroom. As he steps into the room, he sees Mason reach out blindly for his nightstand, fingers closing around his phone and glasses. He smiles sleepily up at Jamie and slips his glasses on. His gaze dips to the tray in Jamie's hands.
"What's that?"
"Breakfast in bed for Valentine's Day. You'll need to sit up for it."
Mason does, propping himself up with his pillows and tucking the blanket around his waist. When his lap is flat, Jamie sets the tray down, then goes back to the kitchen for his own plate of food. He slips into his side of the bed, and Mason cups the back of his neck, tugging him in for a sweet kiss.
"Thank you. This is really sweet."
They eat and talk quietly, and when they're done, Jamie sets the tray of dishes on the floor and works his way down Mason's body to give him a blowjob before Mason returned the pleasure. They shower together and wash each other's body and hair, worshipping each other's body with loving caresses and gentle kisses.
Deciding on a lazy day cuddling on the couch, Mason chooses a cheesy rom-com for them to watch while Jamie gets the snacks. By snacks, he means popcorn, chips, a box of chocolates, and, of course, the candy basket.
Mason's jaw drops when he sees it.
Jamie tries to hold in his laughter, but Mason's shocked, speechless expression is too funny.
When he finally recovers enough to speak, Mason says slowly, "Oh, my, god…" His eyes skip from one candy item to the next, taking in all the embellishments surrounding the heart-shaped box of chocolate in the middle.
"You like it? Happy Valentine's Day!"
Mason's hands rise to cover his mouth as he continues to stare at the candy, muffling his words, "I hope that isn't all for me because there's no way I can eat all of it."
"I can eat one or two," he teases. "Oh, and there's extra of everything because there wasn't enough room for it all."
Mason groans and buries his face in his hands. "Nooo, please. I'm begging you. Please have most of it. We both know you're the one with the sweet tooth."
Relenting, Jamie sits next to Mason on the couch and wraps both of his arms around him, smacking a loud kiss on his cheek. "It's fun to work you up."
"I hate you."
"Love you, too."
