Ruby entered the Pewter City Gym, and looked around. She then noticed someone at the end of the Gym. He was close to the same age as Ruby, with black spiked hair.

"H-H-Hello, are you the Gym Leader?" asked Ruby nervously.

"Yes," said the man, "I am Brock. I use Rock Type Pokemon to battle. So be warned, they are hard."

Ruby is challenged by Gym Leader Brock!

Gym Leader Brock sent out Geodude!

"Geodude!"

"Okay, um, go, Oddish!"

"Oddish!"

"Geodude, use tackle!"

"Um, uh, Dodge!"

Oddish dodged the attack, and Geodude fell face first.

"Okay, absorb!"

Oddish then absorbed Geodude's health.

"Now, use tackle!"

Oddish then tackled Geodude, and Geodude rolled away.

"Geodude!"

Geodude then got up, and Brock said, "Use Rock Throw!"

Geodude then threw a rock, and it hit Oddish.

"ODDISH!"

Oddish shook it off.

"Okay, use Absorb once more!"

Oddish did, and Geodude fainted.

"Return Geodude. Go ONIX!"

"OH MY GOD, IT'S HUGE!"

"It doesn't mater the size, you still have effective moves!"

Ruby looked at Oddish, and she nodded.

"Oh, okay, Oddish, use Absorb!"

Oddish did, and absorbed a good amount of Onix's health.

"Onix, use HeadButt!"

Onix did, and Oddish felt something within. She was absorbing sunlight

Ruby pulled out her Pokedex, and it said, "Solar Beam. An effective grass type move that takes sunlight, and turns it into a beam of light that hits it's foes."

"Wow," said Ruby.

Oddish unleashed her solar beam, and Onix fainted!

Oddish learned Solar Beam!

Ruby defeated Gym Leader Brock!

"You and your Pokemon are really something."

Ruby received 1,210 Poke Dollars!

"As proof for victory here, I give you an official Pokemon League Battle Badge, the Boulder Badge."

Ruby received the bolder badge!

"With that badge, you have proof that you are one step closer to becoming a Pokemon Master."

Ruby smiled, "Thank you very much sir."

Ruby headed out, and heard a voice.

"Hey!"

She turned to see a boy with a red hat and vest.

"Are you Ruby Rose?"

"Yeah, I am."

"Nice to meet you. I'm Red. I heard Grandpa sent out some new trainers. Seems you have the Boulder Badge. I wanted to come and give you some advice on how to beat the Gym Leader, but it seems I'm too late. Anyway, I hope you are having fun."

"I am, and what are your Pokemon?"

"Well, I heard you chose Charmander, like I did."

"You got Charmander as well?"

"Yeah, and now, he's a fully evolved Charizard. Wanna see him?"

"Sure."

Red then brought out his Charizard, and Ruby's eyes went wide.

Charizard is massive reptilian Pokemon, the same color as Charmander, with two horns on his head projecting backwards, and a pair of wings.

"OH MY GOD, HE LOOKS SO AWESOME!"

"Thanks. Now, you plan on getting all the Gym Badges?"

"Yes. I do. And collecting Pokemon along the way as well."

"Well, just be careful, and make sure to have fun, and raise your Pokemon well."

Ruby smiled, and Red said, "Oh, before I go, I want you to have this. It's for Charmander."

Ruby looked at the stone in awe. It was blue, with grey and blue stripes down the middle.

"Wow. It's beautiful. What does it do?"

"You'll have to wait and see."

Red then headed off, and Charizard waved goodbye, following Red.
