Ruby headed to the Pokemon Center, and healed up her Pokemon. Along the Routes, she helped train her Pokemon good, and she even fought them with the help of Crescent Rose. She made sure to be hidden when using it. Before Ruby headed off, she made some changes to her team.

Ruby headed into the caves of Mt. Moon. She saw all sorts of Pokemon, and she managed to catch some.

Geodude

Onix

Machop

Paris

Clefery

She looked at each entry, and the Pokemon were taken to Professor Oak, who looked after them until Ruby needed them.

While Ruby walked along, she saw some strange rocks.

"Hm, what are these? Maybe fossils? I'll ask Professor Oak to see about them."

Ruby was heading out, when suddenly, she heard an explosion from behind her.

"WHAT WAS THAT!?"

Then, two people and a pokemon came in.

"Prepare for Trouble!"

"Make it double!"

"To Protect the world from devastation!"

"To Unite all People within our nation!"

"To denounce the evils of Truth and Love!"

"Jessie!"

"James!"

"Team Rocket blasts off at the speed of Light!"

"Meowth, that's right!"

"Wait," said Ruby, "Can all Pokemon talk?"

"No, it's a long story," said Meowth, "Wait, how can you not know Pokemon cries?"

"Um, it's a long story," said Ruby, "Um, why did you blow a hole in the cave?"

"We don't take the goody-goody way," said Jessie.

"We're bad through and through," said James.

"So hand those fossils over!" said Meowth, "The boss needs them!"

Ruby looked at them, and said, "Why?"

"Because we are bad guys, and we steal Pokemon for the boss!" said Meowth.

Ruby then reached for Crescent Rose, and pulled it out, and said, "YOU'RE NOT GETTING MY POKEMON!"

"WOW!" cried the three.

"Is that scythe authentic?" asked Jessie.

"Yes. It's also a gun," said Ruby.

"Hey, how about a Pokemon battle instead?" asked James.

Ruby was about to retort, but remembered she was in a new world, and needed to get used to not using her weapon as often. She put her Scythe away, and said, "Okay, I'll battle the way you do."

Ruby is challenged by Team Rocket Jessie and James!

"Go Ekans!"

"Ekans!"

"Koffing, go!"

"Koffing!"

"Go Charmander and Pikachu!"

"Char!"

"Pikachu!"

"Ekans, use wrap!"

"Dodge and use Ember!"

Charmander dodged the attack, and Charmander burned Ekans a bit.

"Koffing, use sludge!"

"Pikachu, thunder shock!"

Pikachu shocked Koffing, and Koffing launched ball of sludge.

"Dodge with Agility!"

Pikachu then moved to the side fast, and got untouched.

Jessie then got a sneaky idea.

"Ekans, use wrap on that twerp!"

Ekans then zoomed past the Pokemon, and wrapped around Ruby.

"HEY!"

Charmander looked at them, and spoke in his Pokemon language.

"He says to let her go, or else we'll get it," said Meowth.

Team Rocket laughed, "Oh, you are good! What are you gonna do about it?"

Charmander then took a deep breath, and unleashed a giant stream of fire from his mouth, and fried Team Rocket, and their Pokemon.

Ruby managed to get un touched Team Rocket let Ruby go, and yelled, "TEAM ROCKET'S BLASTING OFF AGAIN!"

Ruby felt much better now that she was free.

"That was amazing Charmander!" said Ruby.

Charmander's body then started to glow, and it changed a bit.

"Char!"

Charmander was now a dark red with a orangish white underbelly, and a single backwards horn on his head.

Ruby looked at her Pokedex, and saw the entry.

Chameleon, the Flame Lizard Pokemon, and the evolved form of Charmander. It has a barbaric nature. In battle, it whips its fiery tail around and slashes away with sharp claws.

"Wow, great job Charman, I mean Charmeleon!"

Charmeleon jumped up, and tackled Ruby to the ground, and licked her face.

"Easy buddy! I love you too! For now, return. You both deserve a rest."

The Pokemon returned to their Poke Balls, and Ruby headed out of the cave.

Ruby took a look at Cerulean City, and loved the scenery. She then saw the Gym on the other side.

"Let's go!"
