"Wait, so, Charmander just, changed form, like that?" asked Yang, snapping to give demonstration.
"Yeah. Pokemon evolve as they get stronger," said Ruby, "Not all of them do, but most of them do, and it shows a diversity between them all."
"So, what happened next?" asked Nora, very interested in the story.
"I healed up, and headed to the Cerulean Gym."
Cerulean Gym, 5 years ago, Earth...
Ruby entered the gym, and saw the Leader at the end of the walkway.
"Hello, I'm Misty, the Cerulean Gym Leader."
"I'm Ruby. I actually started training Pokemon just a few days ago. And I hit my first evolution too."
"That's great! Well, I'll test how strong you've become."
Ruby is challenged by Gym Leader Misty!
Misty sent out Goldeen!
"Goldeen!"
"Go, Bellsprout!"
"Bell!"
"Goldeen, use tackle!"
"Dodge and use vine whip!"
Bellsprout dodged, and slapped Goldeen hard.
"Goldeen, horn attack!"
Goldeen hit Bellsprout hard, and Ruby cried, "BELLSPROUT!"
Bellsprout got up, and sucked up the damage.
"Okay, use Razor Leaf!"
Bellsprout then launched many leaves, and they hit home on Goldeen.
"Now, use tackle!"
"Dodge and use Ice Beam!"
Goldeen dodged the attack, and fired a blue beam.
"Use Solar Beam!
Bellsprout absorbed sunlight, and Ruby said, "Quick Dodge!"
Bellsprout dodged, and launched the Solar Beam.
"Nice work Bellsprout! Rest up!"
"Good work Goldeen. GO STARYU!"
"Pikachu, I choose you!"
"PIKA CHU!"
"Okay, Pikachu, use Thunder Shock!"
Pikachu used thunder shock, and as he did, it grew stronger, and it just about instantly K.O.'d Staryu.
Pikachu learned Thunder Bolt!
Ruby looked at her Pokedex, and she looked at Pikachu's Moves.
Quick Attack
Agility
Thunderbolt
Growl
"Oh," said Ruby, "Pikachu knows Thunderbolt!"
"Well, that took a bit out of Staryu, but I'm sure she'll be fine. Now, Staryu, use Water Gun!"
"Pikachu, use Agility to dodge!"
Pikachu dodged, and ran around Staryu. Staryu then got dizzy, and Ruby said, "Use Quick Attack!"
Pikachu hit Staryu, making it faint!
Ruby Defeated Gym Leader Misty!
"Well done. You have a good team!"
Ruby received 1,400 Poke Dollars!
"You are one of the strongest trainers I have encountered yet. As proof of your victory here, this is the Cascade Badge. With this badge, you can be seen as a master, and you're Pokemon will grow stronger."
"We did it guys, we got the Cascade Badge!"
"Bell!"
"Pika Pika!"
"Thank you!" said Ruby.
Ruby walked out, and looked at the sun. She then played with her Pokemon for a bit, and she made sure to heal them up. Ruby looked at her map, and pointed to the next town.
"Okay, so that's where we need to go gang. Let's go!"
Ruby's Pokemon followed her, and Ruby thought it would be good for them to stretch out for a bit.
