Ruby walked into the gym, and was greeted by a man.
"Hey, you a challenger?"
"Y-Y-Yes I am," said Ruby.
"Okay, just know, just because your a nice kid, I won't go easy on ya! Now, get ready to be shocked!"
Ruby is challenged by Gym Leader L.T. Surge!
L.T. Surge sent out Voltorb!
"Volt!"
"Go Sandshrew!"
"Sand!"
"Voltorb, use swift!"
"Dodge with Dig!"
Sandshrew dug under the ground, and Voltorb's swift missed it. Voltorb looked around, but saw no sigh of digging. Just then, the ground around Voltorb crumbled, and Voltorb fell into a hole!
"What the!?"
"It's a special trick we've done. Sandshrew's made tunnels in the ground, and they're unstable! Sandshrew, use scratch!"
Sandshrew then scratched Voltorb, and Voltorb took damage.
Sandshrew then headed into the stable tunnel nearby, and Voltorb tried to follow. He was now stuck!
Sandshrew then climbed out from his first hole, and Ruby said, "Now, use swift!"
Sandshrew did, and Voltorb couldn't do anything!
"Voltorb, use explosion!"
A massive explosion was seen from Voltorb, and it made a huge shock wave, that damaged Sandshrew a bit. Voltorb, meanwhile, fainted.
"Voltorb, return! Now, go Magnemite!"
"Magnemite!"
"Sandshrew, return! GO CHARMELEON!"
"CHARMELEON!"
"Charmeleon, use slash!"
Charmeleon raced forward, and he slashed at Magnemite twice, and L.T. Surge said, "Use Thunder Bolt!"
Charmeleon was then shocked a bit, and Ruby said, "FLAMETHROWER!"
Charmeleon then breathed fire, and Magnemite then got a burn.
"Magnemite!"
Magnemite just stood it's ground, and Charmeleon got ready for the next move.
"Charmeleon, use Fire Fang!"
"Use Thunder!"
Magnemite the launched a massive wave of Thunder, and it covered the whole field.
"The end of that fight!"
Just then, Charmeleon jumped from one of the holes from behind, and used Fire Fang on Magnemite! Magnemite then fainted!
"How!?"
"I had a special strategy. I've gotten advice from the locals about you, so my Pokemon and I came up with a special strategy."
"Well, this last one's not gonna be that easy, GO RAICHU!"
"RAICHU!"
"Oh my."
"Raichu, use your Body Slam Attack!"
"Charmeleon, hold it back!"
Charmeleon then grabbed Raichu as it was about to slam down on it.
"Now, use that new move we've practiced, SEISMIC TOSS!"
Charmeleon then grabbed Raichu's tail, ran off, and jumped up, and slammed Raichu into the ground.
"Good work Charmeleon!"
"Charmeleon!"
"Okay Raichu, give it the Thunder Bolt!"
Raichu then used Thunder Bolt, and it shocked the whole field.
"Raichu, it's in one of the holes! Shock the tunnels!"
Raichu then did, but during it, his electricity suddenly ran out.
"Rai?"
"Raichu?"
Charmeleon was then came out from a pile of Rubble, and Raichu was surprised.
"FINISH THIS WITH FLAMETHROWER!"
Charmeleon gave his Flamethrower all his strength, and Raichu fainted!
Ruby defeated Gym Leader L.T. Surge!
"UNBELIEVABLE!"
Ruby received 2,400 Poke Dollars!
"Fine, take the Thunder Badge!"
L.T. Surge then smiled, "I'll admit, that was a pretty intense fight kid. You got what it takes."
Ruby blushed at his, and said, "You pick things up when you're on a team."
As Ruby headed off, she actually looked at her scroll. She knew it was a long shot, but it had to do something.
She texted to Yang, 'I'm still here.'
She then sent a picture of herself and her Charmeleon, and said, 'This is my partner, Charmeleon. I hope you and the others are doing good.'
Remnant, Patch...
Yang was just getting settled down, after everything she had witnessed. She had lost her whole team, her arm, the school and her sister. She was just sitting down, when her scroll buzzed. She couldn't even look at it, but when a second one popped up, she had to look at it.
She took one look at the picture, and her eyes went wide!
It was a picture of a red lizard with horn on the back of it's head, and a flame on the tail. And standing with it, was Ruby!
She then ran down stairs, and showed her dad the picture.
"I'm gonna need a few things," said Yang.
"Wait, Yang, you-"
"I already failed my team! I'm not failing her!"
Tai saw that there was no way to argue with Yang, so, he let her go get things ready.
As for Yang, she texted, 'I'll be with you Ruby, no matter how far you are.'
Present, Earth, Ruby's House...
"I still remember that spark you gave me Ruby," said Yang, "it was thanks to you, that we managed to get through."
Ruby smiled, and hugged Yang.
"So, what happened next?" asked Jaune.
"Well, I ran into Team Rocket again in the next town."
