I expected someone to jump out at us when I stepped past the sign but nothing immediately happened. I looked at Kyle, took a deep breath and we began walking. We walked in silence for several tense minutes. Each waiting for something to happen. I searched our surroundings with my enhanced senses and found several werewolf scents. Probably marking the Pack's territory. I remained tense and alert as we walked but I didn't expect anything to happen until we got closer to a town.

"This is the end of the road for me Kyle. You're free to go. Once I die I can't release you from your attachment to the shirt," I release him from the clothing, "Thank you for your help. I guess I will see you soon on the other side."

Kyle looked surprised that I had released him, "I'm not going anywhere Chloe. I'm sticking with you. Whether I agree with your decision or not."

I was shocked that he was staying but relieved. I didn't think I could do this by myself, "Thank you Kyle."

Kyle nodded, "So what do you think is going to happen now?"

"I don't know really. I guess we go into town and make ourselves known. Well, myself known."

"How far is town?"

"I can hear one not far from here, in that direction," I point north, "Let's get this over with."

To get there quickly, we run/jog down the road to the edge of the town. With our speed, it does not take us long to get there. We walk into the town and I'm panting to catch my breath. Exhausted I sit down on a bench I find in the main square. The town is bustling and busy, no one seems to notice the newcomers. I feel eyes on me after sitting for a while.

"Kyle," I speak quietly without moving my lips, "Is someone watching?"

Kyle looks around, "Not that I can see."

"From behind," I inhale and find the scent of a werewolf, "There's someone behind us."

He looks and replies, "There's a man leaning against a lamp post on the other side of the square."

I nod, "That must be our ticket to the Pack." I slowly turn around and look across at the lamp post, "There's no one there Kyle." I don't see anyone watching us from the area.

"Um Chloe," Kyle says as he starts to fade away. I don't know why he suddenly disappears but it scares me and I start shaking.

A snicker comes from in front of me, I jolt around like a skittish wide-eyed child and find the werewolf in front of me. He inhales deeply, taking in my scent. I see the evil in his eyes and am terrified but try not to show it. He laughs again when he has my scent. His eyes were a mesmerizing mix of blue and red. His light brown hair cut fairly short. He wore faded jeans and a white t-shirt. A normal every day looking kind of guy, the perfect disguise to blend into the public.

"Well look what we have here. A stray. You smell like a Cain. You don't look like one though. But only Cain's are stupid enough to wander into this territory."

I growl at him, "I didn't wander here by accident."

He looks at me with slight surprise, "Oh really?" the evil flashes across his expression again, "What are you doing here then?"

"I want my werewolf curse gone. It's too dangerous."

The werewolf bursts out in laughter, "You really are an idiot."

I growl at him again and his laughter stops. He slaps me hard across the face, "Shut up!"

My face stings but I hold back and keep silent.

"Good pup, stay quiet now," He says angrily, glancing around to see if anyone heard my growl. He grabs me by the arm and yanks me off the bench. I try to fight back but the werewolf is too strong. He drags me down an alley and slams me against the wall, his evil anger flares in his eyes, "Stupid pup! Never do that in public again! You could get exposed!"

I hit the wall and the air is knocked out of me. I gasp to get my breath back. He picks me up by the front of my shirt and holds me at eye level. I look into his eyes and fear this wolf.

"You really must be a Cain if you are that stupid."

"W-What are you going to d-do?" I stutter asking, afraid, but cursing my stutter for giving it away. I needed to be brave in this situation, or at least act like I am brave.

"I'll let the Pack decide what to do with you."

Next thing I know there is a hard blow to the side of my head and I'm knocked out. When I wake I am bound tightly in ropes and over the werewolves shoulder. A bandana stuffed in my mouth and down my throat that I can't spit out. I struggle and try to get out of the ropes and the werewolf carrying me notices I'm awake now. He rolls his eyes at my struggle and continues walking on. I can only see the floor but I notice its cement, dirty, and darkly lit. This must be a basement. I hear muffled sounds in the direction I am being taken and wonder what is going on? What is going to happen to me? Where am I going? Is this where the Pack lives? Am I going to live through this? I second guess my decision of coming to the Pack for help now. Even though the wolf needs to go before it hurts Derek more.

We pass through a doorway and I see feet and shadows pass by. I hear the door slam and lock several locks once we enter. I'm thrown to the cold floor and hit my head on it. I feel my head start bleeding and I can smell the scent of my blood and old dried blood. I continue searching scents and get confused with how many werewolves are in the room. There is a lot of different scents around me and Derek and I hadn't trained me too much yet with identifying unfamiliar scents. I hear the snicker of laughter from the werewolf that brought me here.

"Gentlemen," He says to whoever is in the room, "I bring you a nuisance that needs to be dealt with. She seems to be a Cain and attempted to expose us."

There was murmurs of conversation among the others, I hear one voice comment, 'she can't be a Cain; she's cute. Cain's are ugly.' One other voice speaks above the others, its sounds like a mature werewolf.

"Can you prove she is a Cain? She doesn't have the scent on her."

"Come closer and smell her. She must be a Cain."

Footsteps approach me and I struggle against the ropes again. Fear driving me to want to be away from these wolves. Were they even the Pack?

Quiet laughter comes from the room, the mature werewolf smells me, "I cannot be sure. Take off the gag and let us speak with the female."

There were some sounds of agreement and some disagreement. When I fight the ropes more and they see I cannot escape, they think it is okay to speak with me. I made the mistake of making it obvious that I cannot get away. I am lifted from my face down position on the floor and onto a cold metal chair. The bandana yanked from my mouth. I immediately start coughing and gagging. Three single light bulbs hang from the ceiling of the rather large room. Making the room light enough to see but still dark and eerie.

I look around the room, squinting. Standing to my left is the red-eyed werewolf from town. A crowd of countless werewolves line the walls and guard the door. The center of the room is empty except for me and red-eye and across from us three wolves sitting in three king-like chairs. Showing their authority. But the center one being taller showed he was the top wolf. Their chairs were situated to face me but were a cautious distance away from me. The wolf in the center stands and speaks to me. I recognize his voice as the one who wanted to question me.

"Well pup. Why are you here?" He seems calm but Derek has told me the stories of terror of what the Pack has done to wolves before. When I think of Derek my chest aches and I want to be with him right now.

I get smacked by Red-Eye, his nail catching my cheek and drawing blood, "Answer him!"

I look back at the wolf in charge, my voice raspy from the gag, "I needed help from the Pack."

No change in expression of the center wolf, "Help? From us? Why should I help a pup?"

I hesitate in responding and Red-Eye smacks me again, I look at him and snap, "Would you stop that! Get the heck away from me you jerk! I don't want your input!"

Silence continues after I snap and I know I crossed a line that I should not have. I let the wolf continue its boldness and I look at the wolf in charge. Dead in the eye. He doesn't stand down and neither do I. We stand there staring for several seconds before I hear a mumble behind me and a sharp pain shoots through my back. Red-Eye standing behind me with a whip in his hands that had little metal spikes all over it. I feel the cuts in my back and let out a yell of pain. It hurt but the ropes binding me had blocked lots of the blow. I realize then how the situation seemed to the crowd of wolves. I stared at him as a show of boldness but the Pack, especially the Alpha took it as a challenge to his position.

"How dare you challenge the Alpha!" Red-Eye scolds viciously

"Stand down!" Alpha snaps at Red-Eye, "The pup doesn't realize its mistake. Especially if it's a lone Cain pup."

I felt like the room was shrinking as the werewolves gradually moved in closer. The anger growing. The Alpha looked angriest of them all.

"I just need your help," I say, shrinking in fear.

Laughter rings through the room, hateful things are yelled at me. The Alpha looked the most repulsed. He held up his hand and the entire room went silent immediately. The control this Alpha had amazed me.

"There is no way I am going to waste my time with pups like you," He growled, "You've upset the Pack and now you're going to pay. But before I let the Pack 'help' you, have you shifted yet?" he smiled evilly like he already knew the answer.

I shot him a glare but I was scared of his response to come, "No and I have many years before that could happen."

Alpha and others laugh at my fear, "He taught you wrong pup. You shift when pushed beyond the limit. Physically ready or not." Alpha snapped his fingers and Red-Eye and two other werewolves grabbed me.

I screamed and the werewolves cheered the trio on. They dragged me across the room to a rusty small cage. I try to fight back but the ropes still restrain me. They remove some ropes. Now only my hands and legs are bound. Then throw me into the cage and slam the door shut and locked. Werewolves gather around the cage and cheer, poke, and jab at me. I maneuver myself to sit up awkwardly in the center of the cage and look around me. The room becomes much better lit now. The Alpha approaches the cage, holding up a hand to silence his Pack.

"Well, well pup, looks like you're in a little predicament."

"Please sir," I beg and tears fill my eyes in fear, "I need your help controlling. It's dangerous. I'm hurting my friends."

"Friends?" Red-Eye laughed, "They're quite the trustable friends if they let you come here alone."

Alpha silenced Red-Eye and turned back to me. His evil showing plainly in his expression and deep into his eyes. "Help you? Oh we will help you all right." He took a step back from the cage and looked around at his Pack, "My fellow wolves. The traitor wishes for help. I believe you know what to do to help her."

I went numb with fear when I realized what was going to happen. Suddenly I felt several sharp pains on my back. Several werewolves had the similar spiked whips and were nailing me with them. I let out screams.

The more I screamed the happier the Pack was. Torturing was their favorite thing to do. Several werewolves around me continuously slammed me with the spiked whips and others without weaponry taunted me loudly. Voices screamed horrifying things to me. They screamed at me about how I was a cruel abomination to werewlf nature. How I meant nothing. How I could never stop them. How I was among the stupidest beings in existence. The taunts went on and on and took down my moral barrier of survival. I began to believe what they said in my weak state.

I was begin beaten to death by these werewolves with spiked whips. The growl escaped from my lips and the Pack cheered. It was working for them. I stumbled onto my back with no way to defend myself from my and the Pack. Screams of terror and pain mix with growls and inhuman shrieks. I felt like my body was on fire. I think my lungs are going to burst from the screams and growls.

I'm bleeding all over and start spitting blood out of my mouth and I know that I don't have much time left. Either I am going to succumb to the werewolf change or bleed to death first. I vaguely hear the Alpha command the whips to end. They have done their job. The Alpha does not stop the werewolves' cheers though. They cheer on and scream hateful things at me. My insides feel like they are being crushed and my skin is being ripped to shreds by it. Only inhuman screeches and growls escape my deformed lips now.

Cheers and roars from the werewolf crowd around me, enjoying my agony. My heart is racing so fast that I feel like it might explode. Hot tears flow freely down my bloodied face. My ears are pounding so hard that I can barely hear but I manage to make out a distant voice above the crowds.

"The Cain is weak and is shifting but she needs a final push to finish her off for good. Why don't you send in Will," The Alpha says to another werewolf. I hear the sound of the cage door opening and a shadow covers me as a werewolf steps in and the door locked behind him.

"This is my favorite part," Will says and picks me up by back of my neck.

He looks over my bloody misshapen human-wolf body and laughs. I am too weak to fight back. He slams me into the cage wall were other werewolves start whipping me at the same time. Will repeatedly slams me into cage walls. I feel my bones snapping like twigs. I scream and howl so loud that some werewolves have to cover their sensitive ears. I hear werewolves cheering for Will to finish me. Will lets me drop limp to the bottom of the cage and leans down over top of me. His hands close around my fragile exposed neck.
