Liam went quiet and I looked over at the door to see who it was, worried that they had heard what I said to Liam. Derek entered of course. His expression punched me in the heart, he looked at me angry and suspicious and hurt as he entered.

"Who are you talking to?" He asked, arms crossed.

If he was going to treat me this way, I was going to do the same, I rolled my eyes at him and replied, "I don't know what you're talking about. Go get your ears checked."

I could see the realization in his eyes that he knew I was mad and hurt and was not backing down. He responded, "Chloe I know you were just talking to someone."

"Prove it," I said, "What was it that I said?"

Derek growled angrily and I knew he had heard the conversation. Or at least, my side of the conversation. I turned my head and closed my eyes. Determined to keep Derek blocked out. Tears built up and had to hold them back. I could cry later, not in front of Derek. I had to become emotionless around Derek. I needed to detach him from me so it would be easier to leave.

"What are you doing Chloe?" Liam asked me, voice hushed.

I didn't answer Liam and when he distracted me, some tears escaped from my eyes. Derek saw and rushed over to the bedside.

"Chloe what's wrong?"

"It hurts," I said, which wasn't a lie but it wasn't the reason I was crying.

"I'll get dad," Derek said and placed a quick kiss on my forehead before rushing out the door to find his dad.

Derek must have rushed fast to find his dad because they returned moments later. Kit came in cautiously and sat at the edge of the bed. Derek observes standing by the door.

"Derek tells me that something is wrong Chloe," Kit says.

I nod and flinch at it, "Yeah."

"I can try to heal you but I can't do it all at once. That would put too much stress on your body. You're in very bad shape."

"I was dead."

"Well now you aren't Chloe. Now what hurts most? We will start there."

"My ribs."

"Alright, give me your hands."

I try but I can't even move my arms, they are crushed to nothing. Kit places his hands on mine and starts mumbling some sort of spell. I feel a rush of warmth rush through my arms and into my chest. The warmth circles around my chest and the pain gradually dulls. It takes several minutes but the pain virtually is gone from my ribs. I am able to breath without being in pain.

"I'm glad that was your first choice, your broken ribs were close to puncturing your lungs which would have suffocated you to death," Kit says, then he stands obviously the spell had exhausted him, "I'll go get you something to eat."

Kit stood and left and then it had dawned on me, when I had fallen asleep, I was in a partial wolf form. Was I still? I look down at my body, hoping it had returned to normal in my sleep but it had not. There was a rusty mirror in the small dresser across the room and I am relieved to at least see that my face had returned to normal. Except for my teeth. I notice that Derek is still standing in the doorway of the bedroom, I looked over at him.

"What do you want?" I ask.

"I want you to tell me why you did all that," Derek responds.

"Well you aren't going to get what you want then," I said.

Derek growls, "You need to tell me Chloe."

"Why? It's not your business why I do what I do."

"Yes it is."

"Says who?"

"Says me, Chloe. Now tell me."

"No."

Derek growled frustrated that I wouldn't tell but there was nothing he could do about it. He couldn't touch me with how broken I am and he knows I am mad at him, nothing he could say would change my mind. This was just like before when he tried to say anything to apologize but I wouldn't give in. No matter how much I wanted not to be mad at him. These circumstances were different of course. There would be no forgiving for rescuing me from the Pack. I was going to make my way back there and finish it.

The one person that I wanted to talk to right now, was Kyle. I wanted Kyle here because he experienced my situation. He knew my side to the story. He knew my reasoning. Liam would be good help but he was not going to be good company like Kyle had been.

Derek growled at me, "Who else is here? I heard you talking to someone."

"That's none of your business Derek," I shot back

Derek walked up to the edge of the foot of the bed, "This whole situation is my business Chloe. Whether you like it or not."

I looked at Liam who was standing behind Derek, "You should tell the pup." He said to me, but could I trust Liam? Could I trust Derek? Could I even trust myself? What would happen if Derek found out? I growled back at him, giving up but I wasn't going to tell him the whole story. I would leave out bits that I needed to keep hushed up.

"Fine, whatever, you win. I left you and everyone else because the werewolf curse needed to be killed. Even if that meant killing myself as well."

Derek stayed quiet for a minute. And then another, and then another. His expression, something I couldn't read. "Well?" I said finally.

"That is idiotic," Derek said out loud to himself as if I weren't there, "There's plenty of us to know how to help you get through this."

And with that Derek turned and walked out of the bedroom. I knew for sure he would be back to question me some more. I looked over at Liam. Feeling like I shouldn't have told Derek a word.

"He is right. You don't need the help of me or the Pack. You need them. So let me go."

"No," I snap.

Liam growls irritated, "Why not?"

"Because you're going to help me. I know werewolves heal faster than humans. How do I heal these wounds?"

"Well you would have to fully shift one way or another first. This halfway state you are in is not good for you. It weakens you. You need to become all human or all wolf."

"I want to be all human."

"Okay, so be it."

"But how?" I was confused

"Command it. Control it. Make it back down and go back inside. Just take back your control of your body."

I nodded and closed my eyes and imagined myself and a wolf. Using my powers the way I would with imagining ghosts. I imagined it bigger than me, showing that it had more control over me. Then I imagined it gradually getting smaller and myself gradually getting bigger in comparison.

"So how do I shift back?"

"That's not something I can teach you, mutt. That's something only the pup can teach you."

"But-"

"But nothing mutt," he snaps, "I did my part. Now release me."

"No!" I snap back, "You aren't going anywhere just yet."

Liam smirked and then looked to my side. "Are you sure that I am trustworthy?" he asked me and then as I looked to see what he was referring to, I saw some man with a needle and syringe. He jabbed it into my arm and everything went numb and fuzzy. I could hear the laughter of Liam. He purposely had not warned me.
