Blitz Shrapnel, 18

District 2 Male

Cold wind greeted him as Blitz's pedestal locked into place. A light mist hung in the air, and the sky was cloudy and gray. Small streams crossed back and forth across the stony island the Cornucopia sat on. Small reeds and water lilies grew in the stiller water, while moss and fresh green grass poked out of the cracks in the rocks.

The Cornucopia itself was made from black metal that stood out against the tall trees that surrounded the clearing. The undergrowth grows thick around it, and the forest is filled with evergreen trees, with a few deciduous trees as well. A bright orange hologram hovers over the tail of the Cornucopia, counting down…

With only about 20 seconds to go, Blitz tried to spot his allies. Theo was to his right, and the little girl from 8 was to his left, but he didn't care about them. The Careers, along with Wyler and Yale, were who he wished to locate.

The gong rand loudly and Blitz lunged off his pedestal, his focus now on the Cornucopia. A large ax was leaning against a rack of spears; that was the weapon he wanted. His boots splashed in the water, stirring up mud and crushing the lilies. Theo was keeping pace with him, so Blitz lunged sideways, elbowing the boy in the face. He stumbled away, letting Blitz reach the Cornucopia before him.

As he grabbed the ax, Mozu appeared beside him. She picked up a spear and turned with him to survey the scene. Regina was splashing towards them, and Noah had just disappeared behind a large stack of crates. Sam stepped inside the Cornucopia while Adelind reached for a sword.

The boy from 5 came charging right at them, eyes wide with terror, and Blitz raised his ax, about to strike, before he heard a shout.

"Yale! No!"

An icy chill ran through his veins as he turned towards the sound. Yale was lying in the water, blood pouring from a gash in his throat. Wyler was behind him, staring down at Yale. The boy from 9 was running away from them with a satchel and a bloody knife.

Sprinting towards his brothers, he barely registered Mozu throwing her spear. Feet slipping on the wet stones, he stopped in front of Wyler.

"What happened?" he demanded, trying to slow the ferocious beating of his heart.

"The boy from 9 came after me," Wyler said softly, still staring at Yale's body. "He jumped in front of me."

Before Blitz could answer, he heard Noah yell.

"Hey! Shrapnel! Get your head in the game!" A knife came whistling through the air and Blitz barely had time to deflect it with his ax.

"What the hell?" Noah shouted, running over. "Kill him!"

Wyler took a step back, preparing to run, but Blitz put a hand on his shoulder.

"No one is allowed to hurt him," he said sternly. "Wyler is with us." Noah rolled his eyes.

"Whatever," he grumbled, turning away to track another target. Blitz looked at Wyler, whose eyes were wide.

"Go into the Cornucopia," he instructed. Wyler nodded slowly but made his way towards the black structure. Blitz looked down at Yale's body.

"Thank you," he whispered. Then he turned and dove back into the fray.

Josko Makinë, 16

District 6 Male

Josko's hands shook as he looked around the arena, both from cold and fear. He could feel his heartbeat pounding in his throat and in his ears. Looking back and forth, he realized with a shudder that he was between two Careers; Adelind from 4 and Regina from 1. Regina was focused on something else, but he could feel Adelind's gaze on him. He didn't have the courage to look at her. Instead, he scanned the area around the Cornucopia for supplies.

All the backpacks seemed to be waterproof, or at least water resistant, which was good. He'd been in the arena for less than a minute, and he was already quite damp from the mist. It wouldn't be shocking if the mist became rain soon.

He only had about 15 seconds to spot Ellie, but he didn't see her. He leaned forward, but his foot slipped, and with a cry, he fell. By some miracle, the gong went off right before he hit the ground.

Laying on the cold stones, Josko took a moment to acknowledge that he was alive. He could feel the wetness of the rocks against his face, the throbbing in his jaw where it hit the ground. He could move his fingers and toes. His heart was still beating.

Scrambling to his feet, he rushed forward, still a little unsteady. He spotted a decently sized backpack lying about halfway to the Cornucopia, so he changed direction and went for it.

He had just picked it up when a huge fist connected with the side of his head, sending him sprawling. Hot blood trickled from his temple and his vision was swimming. He tried to stand, but his feet tangled and he fell. As he went down, someone's hand caught the front of his jacket and he took another swift punch to the nose. Through watering eyes, he recognized Sam, the massive boy from District 4. He had a concentrated look on his face, and Josko closed his eyes as Sam punched him again and again.

Pain flashed hot behind his eyes, and his nose felt like it was on fire. His mind drifted to Nix, and his father, who were probably both horrified. He had to be brave for them. So he didn't cry out, despite Sam pummeling his face. Finally, the pain began to fade, and Josko could almost see his mother standing in front of him, arms out. And then his body gave out.

Colette Reilly, 13

District 8 Female

The wind in the arena was fierce, messing up Colette's perfectly braided hair and making her teeth chatter. It stung her cheeks and her eyes, making them water. And all around her there was water and rocks. More cold things. Tears pooled in her eyes as she longed to be back home with her parents and her uncles, or even back in her bedroom in the Capitol. But it was time for the Games to begin.

When the gong rang out, Colette stumbled off her pedestal and splashed into the stream in front of her, the water sloshing over the top of her tall boots and soaking the bottoms of her pants. Shivering, she stepped out of the water and looked around.

A rolled-up tarp sat about ten feet in front of her, so she ran for it, scooping it up and tucking it under her arm. A fanny pack was a few feet beyond that, so she edged closer to grab it. And to her surprise, no one seemed to come to her. She saw a spear fly, but it was far away. Still, she winced, knowing it had probably hit its target. The scary boy from 9 dashed past her, nearly knocking her off her feet, but he ignored her.

Colette couldn't see Gaia anywhere. She gripped her tarp tighter and risked calling out.

"Gaia!" she shouted. The boys from 2 and 3 separated, and she was able to see her ally, who had a large backpack on. She waved her arms until Gaia saw her. Smiling, her older ally started to approach her when two knives sunk into her chest. Someone screamed. It might have Colette.

Gaia fell back, landing awkwardly. Her arms were limp and her eyes were already glazed over. The boy from 11, Noah, was smirking at her body. Colette began to cry, sinking to her knees.

Something slammed into her, nearly toppling her over. She cried out, holding her hands out to cover her face, but whoever knocked her over hauled her to her feet instead of attacking her. Colette opened her eyes to see Danse, the girl from 7 who stood up for her during training. She was frowning heavily, and reached down to grab Colette's tarp.

"Let's go," she said firmly, shoving the tarp into Colette's hands.

"But-" Colette began, but Danse grabbed her arm and gave her a firm tug.

"I said 'let's go'", she snapped. She began to haul Colette towards the left side of the Cornucopia, where the trees were tall and tangled. After a moment, Colette was able to gather herself enough to pick up her speed, and the two girls scrambled through the reeds and into the forest.

Theo Wondderoo, 17

District 8 Male

Theo squared his shoulders and squinted against the wind, pulling the hood of his poncho tight. This was going to be a cold Games. The light misty rain falling around them reminded him of the gloomy days back in District 8, but the arena was a far cry from home. He could hear birds calling as the countdown began.

He used the time to locate his allies. Dieter was two podiums to his left, and Fritz was about six to his right. And he didn't have time to spot Fallon or Thalia, as the gong rang and the group of tributes surged forward.

Saoirse, who was next to him, turned and ran into the woods. Theo let her go. He had no interest in killing anyone unless absolutely necessary. Instead, he hurried towards Dieter. But the young boy seemed to be absolutely blind with panic, rushing towards the huddle of Careers. Theo lunged after him.

Dieter ran straight towards Blitz, who was holding a large ax. Theo reached out to make a desparate grab fro the boy, but he was too far away. Then, by some miracle, a shout pulled Blitz away. The large boy lowered his ax and took off in another direction.

"Dieter!" Theo shouted. "Over here!" The blonde kid turned, but before he could do or say anything, a spear sunk into Dieter's chest, cutting his scream short. Mozu turned to Theo and he stopped, quickly backpedaling away from the dangerous girl.

Theo turned to run from Mozu, his panicked heartbeat pounding in his ears. He heard the whistle of the spear right as his ankle caught on the stones. Something popped, and he shouted in pain.

For a few moments he just lay there, waiting for Mozu to strike. But she never did. Finally, he raised his head. She was nowhere to be seen, but a familiar figure was crouched beside him.

"Theo! Are you okay?" Fritz asked. He pushed himself onto his hands and knees.

"My ankle," he mumbled. "I don't think I can walk." Fritz frowned, and Theo squeezed his eyes shut. His allies were going to abandon him. He was just a liability now; no point in keeping him around.

But Fritz grabbed his arm.

"Come on," she said, giving it a tug. Theo blinked at her.

"Really?"

"Yes," Fritz said, trying for a smile. "Now, get up! I'll help you."

Using Fritz for balance, Theo managed to stand. Thalia came running towards them, wearing a backpack and holding a hunting knife.

"Theo's hurt," Fritz said, and Thalia came to support Theo on the other side.

"Where is Fallon?" Theo asked, desperately trying to ignore the throbbing pain in his ankle. Thalia just shook her head.

"She's gone."

"Dieter too," Theo said. He heard Fritz draw in a shuddering breath and he winced. But she continued to the support him, and the three of them continued on into the forest.

Regina Soto, 17

District 1 Female

As the numbers counted down, Regina rocked on the balls of her feet, ready to run. She could see a thin, sleek sword leaning up against the Cornucopia. That would be her weapon. She knew she had to be careful though. The boy on her right, Dieter, was fairly harmless, but Marcus was directly to her left. And he was just as powerful a killer as she was.

The gong sounded and Regina lunged forward, boots thumping on the stones. She darted around the boys from 5 and 8 and rushed for her weapon. She'd just wrapped her hand around the hilt when something grabbed her ponytail and jerked her back.

Eyes watering, Regina struck with her elbow, hitting flesh. Whoever had grabbed her grunted and released her hair, allowing her to spin around, sword at the ready. Marcus stood behind her, a hefty ax in hand. He struck, barely giving her enough time to react.

She lunged backwards, but Marcus's weapon sliced through her leg. With a scream of pain, Regina slashed across his face with her sword, cutting through his eye. He dropped his weapon as Regina struck again, piercing his chest.

As soon as he dropped, Regina fell against the Cornucopia with a groan. She could feel blood dripping down her leg, but she couldn't make herself look. Mozu came rushing over.

"What happened," she asked, glancing down at the wound.

"Marcus happened," Regina said bitterly, glaring at the boy's corpse. Mozu frowned.

"Go inside the Cornucopia," she said. "I'll help you soon."

Regina wanted to argue, but she was shaking too badly. So she just nodded and limped inside the metal structure. She lowered herself down on a crate, preparing to have a short cry, when someone else ran in. She struggled to her feet, but they held their hands up in surrender and spoke.

"Blitz said we're allies." It was Wyler, Blitz's brother. Regina sat back down.

"Fine," she said. She did her best to readjust her leg so it didn't look injured, but she winced when she moved it.

"You're hurt," Wyler said flatly. He stepped further into the Cornucopia and began to dig through a box while Regina watched him warily. But he came over with a first aid kit. Opening it, he removed a surgical needle and thread and eyed Regina's leg.

"This will hurt," he said before threading the needle and piercing her skin. She bit her lip to keep from crying out, but managed to stay silent. Wyler placed a large hand on her leg to hold her still and carefully stitched up her wound.

"Thanks," Regina said when he was done. "And welcome to the alliance."

Lana Rose, 17

District 3 Female

Lana stood shivering on her pedestal, watching the numbers tick down. In about 20 seconds, she'd be fighting for her life. She shoved her hands into the pocket of her poncho and forced herself to take deep breaths, drinking in the cold air.

A small sword was sitting near the mouth of the Cornucopia, leaning against a backpack. That was what she'd go for. It was dangerous, but Lana was quick. Hopefully, that would be enough.

The gong rang, echoing on the stones, and Lana rushed forward. She doubted she'd ever run as fast in her life, even when trying to escape her aunt. Adrenaline pumped through her veins, propelling her.

By some miracle, she reached the sword safely. She grabbed it and whirled around, coming face-to-face with the girl from 11. Instinctively, Lana lashed out, slicing the girl across the chest before burying the sword in her abdomen. With a groan, she slumped to the ground.

Lana stepped back, nearly stumbling over the backpack. She just killed someone. The girl on the ground was dead because of her. She choked back a sob and forced herself to turn around and grab the backpack instead. Slinging it over her shoulder, she carefully navigated around the girl's body and then sprinted for the woods.

As soon as she reached the treeline, someone crashed into her from behind, sending Lana sprawling. She barely managed to keep herself from being impaled on her sword.

Rolling over, Lana saw the girl from 6. She was on her knees and clutching a spear, a gaping wound in her arm. For a moment, both girls held perfectly still. Then the girl from 6 scrambled to her feet and took off running in the opposite direction. Lana got up and continued on, moving as quickly as she could. She did it. She'd survived the bloodbath.

24th: Fallon Blake (killed by Lana Rose)

RIP Fallon. She was a really interesting tribute, between her pessimism and her family being societal outcasts. I had fun exploring her desire to persevere, but in the end, she had to go here. Thank you recklessinparadise for submitting Fallon, and thank you for being so flexible with her.

23rd: Dieter Weiss (killed by Mozu Striker)

RIP Dieter. You were submitted as a bloodbath, but I really liked you. I wish you could have gone home to your pup and your new family. Sadly, it was not to be. Thank you for giving me a loveable bloodbath LCS.

22nd: Yale Morley (killed by Alrik Garrison)

RIP Yale. You were always going to die here, bringing your brothers together. Wyler is safe with Blitz because of you, and I promise Blitz will try to avenge your death. Thank you Very New To This.

21st: Marcus Taylor (killed by Regina Soto)

RIP Marcus. You were a great villain, but I had a few villain tributes and I had to pick and choose. I had more plans for Ray and Noah, so you had to go here. But you left your mark; Regina is pretty injured because of you. Thank you wiifan2002.

20th: Gaia Branson (killed by Noah Brimms)

RIP Gaia. Your death was a hard one for me. You were happy and bright, and I really liked you. But this was the best place for you to go. I'll miss writing yours and Colette's alliance. Thank you Victoria the Bi-Polar Tribute.

19th: Josko Makinë (killed by Sam Nkata Creek)

RIP Josko. You weren't originally going to be a bloodbath, but I needed some more deaths, and this felt like a decent place for your story to end. I'm sorry though. Thank you averyrandomauthor.
